A challenge is issued. The clouds part. That’s no mountain.

Joe and the Dwarves are doing more than surviving in the harsh climate of they’re thriving. The Ritualist’s improvements to their defenses are paying dividends; and he’s hailed as a genius for ending threats before they come into striking distance of the burgeoning City. Every day, the Town expands further, allowing for more facilities, a larger population, and drawing in ever-more monsters.

So many beasts that the walls are no longer enough.

When a set of extra-stealthy monsters cuts through a crowd of commuters, Joe is pushed to the limit to make sure it never happens again. Even though he has all the information he needs, the Ritualist’s skills are lacking. As Joe races the clock ticking down on the Town upgrading into a City, a Legendary monster appears on the horizon—its eyes fixed on Novusheim.

The storm isn’t brewing. It’s here.

Better than the previous two (e.g. - Books 9 and 10), still much worse then any of the earlier books. The book essentially reads as a massive training montage with very little actual story taking place until the very end of the book itself. Which is probably fine/necessary for prepping into the next story, but still a bit disappointing as a reader.

Review: These novels grow in the myopic development of Joe, without the character assets that made him such an interesting dude. Gone are the days of quests with buddies and the interactions therein. Now, we just hang out by ourselves, slowly advance in levels and work on becoming a city. That's ok for a novel or two, yet any more than that and it becomes repetitive and boring.

We are going to a new world in the next installment but I wonder if this is going to be a remix of the of the same shjt in a different setting.

Thunderplump by Dakota Krout is a literary rollercoaster that left me thunderstruck! Krout's masterful storytelling weaves magic and humor seamlessly, creating a world where even thunderclouds have a sense of whimsy. The characters are as vivid as the thunderstorms in the book, and the plot twists hit like lightning bolts, keeping me on the edge of my seat. A thunderously delightful read that deserves not just 5 stars, but a standing ovation with a side of thunderous applause!

I listened to books 1-11 of the Completionist Chronicles in the last few weeks. I found most of the books at the library and only had to purchase the last few. All the books in the series fall somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Some are closer to 3 stars, and others are closer to 4 stars. These are popcorn LITRPG books, easy to read, addictive but very superficial.

The characters are okay and there is some good humor but they tend to get repetitive. Additionally, the author includes a bit too much gaming for my taste. The series has started to stagnate for me. The last two books were all, grind, kill monsters, level up, wash, rinse, and repeat.

I listened to the Audible version, and Luke Daniels's narration was excellent. These are audiobooks you can listen to while multitasking. A good way to keep your mind engaged on a car or bike ride. The book and series are entertaining but they lack depth. That stated they are addictive and I will continue with the series as they come out.

Not as good as the others

I did not enjoy this one nearly as much as the other books. Too much time with Joe and rituals and not enough interactions with other characters

Didn't we already have a book in the series that focused on monster waves with a big giant as the final boss? Did we need another one?

How does this have 4,5 rating on here? Weird.

Artificially increased difficulty level for the main protagonist, for no real reason. Just like always. This time a legendary monster 2 levels above what should've been.

Other players apparently having a much easier time of it. Let's just quickly compare from earlier: 90 000 dwarves and a master tower/ritual builder struggles with boss monster to become a Town. Elven controlled human guild of something like 1000 members without a maze did it just fine with no apparent issues. Ohhhhkay?

Did the MC at least smartly solve the problem in this book? Nah, the writer has a Sage pop by to save the day easily. Textbook Deus Ex Machina (just like most of the previous books).

Story wise I'm starting to become real exasperated with the stupidity of the MC. It's difficult to root for someone who's so dumb he forgets to use his most powerful abilities all the time, who thinks that sacrificing 28k xp and 5 days (120h) of playtime for a spell to go up one rank as "totally worth it" and who risks everything for someone who stabbed him (almost literally) in the back for selfish reasons. He's even got an amazing war-ritual he basically doesn't use, for crying out loud! Abyss, I want to slap him so hard...

I have so many more gripes with the story and MC, but there's just no point...

The book (series?) is fine for light entertainment while killimg time and waiting for better books to come out. Nothing more, nothing less. Well ok, at least it's not all food-related sillyness - I'll give it that.

Please tone down the puns and forced attempts at humor, make the MC actually attempt to game the system with the tools he's got, and get some progress going. Build on already established characters and worlds. Like, why didn't he go back to the Human zone since his ban was lifted? At the very least just to visit (Wtf?). Where's his guild? That might get the series back on an interesting track. But unfortunately I think it's too late to right the ship. Too bad, I really liked the start of the series.

ThunderPlump: Survival in Novusheim" (Completionist Chronicles Book 11)

In this latest installment of the beloved Completionist Chronicles series, author Dakota Krout continues delivering pulse-pounding adventures. ThunderPlump drops readers into the middle of the action as leader Joe and the dwarves of Novusheim face their greatest threat yet.

The tight-knit community works tirelessly to strengthen their defenses against an onslaught of monsters. But no preparation could ready them for the legendary summons that appears, kicking off an all-out siege. Fans will be on the edge of their seats reading the battle unfold.

While the ending resolves the immediate conflict, long-time readers of the Completionist Chronicles will no doubt hope this isn't the last we've seen of Novusheim. With its rich cast of characters and vividly realized setting in the unforgiving climate of Jotunheim, there is potential for further exploration. This installment satisfies with its suspenseful pace and high stakes, showing once more why this is one of the most beloved epic fantasy series. The only change I would have made was to let Joe consolidate his gains and explore a planet the size of our sun, however, I can't wait to see where Joe and the dwarves' journeys lead next.

Joe Gets powered leveled

Spoilers!!!

Looking forward to the next book but I felt that the series has a predictable flow where Joe goes to a new world, starts on the bottom, grinds his way up a few levels and a couple skill ranks and then goes onto the next world after a book or 2 spent on the current world.

Not saying I’m not enjoying Joe getting powered leveled but it’s getting predictable to a point where I know Joe isn’t in any real danger as he can just respawn and restart somewhere else. In his own words “I can create anything out of anything.”

Joe as a reductionist ritualist can create anything out of aspects like”Anything out of Anything” and at the end of the book he gets an ability to automatically use the bifrost if he feels like going to another world.

I don’t think Joe should have unlimited access to the bifrost “no cost / no cooldown”. Hopefully you’ll rectify it in the next book.

Now that Joe can create anything out of anything, and go anywhere, he only needs time to level himself up (after getting a new specialization - hopefully from Tatum) to reach a new level cap of 50.

One thing I really like about this series

The supporting characters aren't set in stone. Just like life, some friends just get off the bus at different stops, and new ones come on board. No betrayal needed, and while it can be painful, its effect on the main character is profoundly positive.

I have to admit, as someone with severe ADHD, I identify very closely with the MC's inability to recognize and process social cues, as well as the tendency to hyper focus on interesting projects. In some ways, I am very happy to see that the author hasn't demonized this behavior, allowing the MC's companions to simply accept that this is one of his defining traits and not trying to modify his behavior to more closely match their own expectations. I understand how frustrating this may seem to most neuro-normatives, but the main character's squirrel factor sings to me on a very personal level.

A fantastic piece for the ... End? Of the Jotunheim arc.
We finally see all the work Joe's been putting in come to fruition, he stops wavering on details like his professions, and his ability to educate ritualists though he does determine a piece of information he hadn't realized about the Dwarven goals.

I really enjoyed how the mood has shifted in this book and that the dwarves aren't treating him with as much suspicion after everything he's done; I'm still not sure what exactly comes with him being connected to Havoc but I'm excited to see where it goes.

We even get to see a lot more Jake and learn about a few more crucial details of this world of Eternia.... Even, in some cases, because of a Joe Protocol instituted by the Adminstration 😁

If you're a fan of the series 5/5

If you're not already, don't start here.

This was more of the same from this series but fortunately this time it feels like not everything centred on Joe. It is a bit annoying having the dwarves hamstrung all the time for the sake of the plot but it is what it is. Jackson helps a fair bit.

However, Daniella, his love(?), the woman that an entire book was dedicated to the rescue of, is mentioned twice. Once in passing and once briefly at the end.

I think that's what tells me to end it with this series. The character development is non-existent. There's no point reading "numbers go up" endlessly. It was also unrealistic that Joe had the option to visit his family and guild and chose not to for some reason.

The narration was good.

So confused

This books is like watching a five year old after giving candy and an espresso shot. Joe mostly runs around in this book from one project to another (never actually finishing one), while also battling an insane 100 wave of monsters.

There is almost no point to this book until about 86% of the way in. That is about when the final battle begins. And even then it is like watching Dragonball Z, where it takes progressively stronger characters to put even a little hurt on the bad guy.

Mate is a big hero!!! He rocks.

I hope you enjoy this book better than I did!! Just remember that I actually have really enjoyed this series.

Particualy Thunderplumpable.

This book is the 11th book in one of my favorite series I've ever had the privilege of reading. The book has everything you could want but it doesn't get stale or repetitive. The humor and references are always easy to get and are worked in to the story in such a way to be the right amount of comic releaf. Over all Dakota Krout had pumed out 2 to 3 books every year in this series and im always wanting more of the the story. This has been my great privilege to read and share with my dad. Thank you Mr.Krout.

Book 11 of The Completionist Chronicles. This is the concluding book for this part of the series. A wild ride with an excellent end boss. A couple of small items I would have liked Jaxon to”adjust” but overall a solid conclusion to this part of the series and moving us to the new world. Although a tower defense game was an interesting idea for a novel, I am glad that we will be moving to something new. Still a fun series with a few crude puns thrown in. Sensitive readers be aware.

As usual, Joe creates chaos wherever he goes - sometimes he even does it on purpose. The bulk of this book is him and his legion of friends battling against that chaos, making for a fun ride.

This is the third book in this mini-series and the 11th book overall for Joe, the Ritualist. Joe has grown so strong in game terms that it seems there is nothing he cannot do, but then there are characters so far beyond his abilities that there is clearly more to learn and do.

Just keeps on getting better, Stats improve with each book!!

Each book just keeps on getting better, How's character is growing in leaps and bounds quite literally). As are the other characters.
I love the new characters that have been brought in.
The struggles they face yet overcome with teamwork, hard work and determination gives a good moral basis to the book.
I am absolutely gutted that I have to wait for the next one as I have binge read this.series of has been that good.

This series has been a ton of fun. This book advances our hero and helps him grow a bit. Good action, and little romance (the way I like it) and his biggest advisory gives him the best advice which isn't as unusual as you might think. It is a good read, looking forward to the next book and another new world to explore.

The truth about Jake

This was an amazing story where Joe continues to get stronger. We also get to know more about Jake and how powerful he really is. I loved the end of the book where Joe could go home if he wanted. I really hope this is not the last book in the series, but I will have to watch to see if another comes out.

Joe was delightfully silly in this

I’ve enjoyed the redemption of the Dwarves story arc, but I’m ready to see what new ways that Joe can screw, no matter how unintentionally, with the system and it’s admins.

Loved the book, the Main Character actually was focused on making himself better, while helping the community. While most of the book is a long long protracted battle, he still finds time to work on his non-combat skills that are important to his class.

this series is the best.

I found this series by reading the artorian books by the same author and these books are great from beginning to end unlike the artorian series which slowly burns down a bit. Overall so many great books by this author!

Now we're talking. If you like progression, this book delivers. The book flew by for me.

Usually by book 11 the series feels stale, but Krout keeps delivering. I felt like this one was a lot more satisfying than book 10.

Really enjoyed the conclusion to the third part of the "T" section in this series. I would have preferred the ending go a slightly different way instead of how it did, but the setup has been placed to allow for future books to better connect everything together.

I found the book very disappointing, I keep hoping that it would return to its former glory but I still find the lack of entertaining cohorts and quests disappointing.

I’ll give the next one, one more shot before calling it quits.
