Long before the British ruled Ireland, fiercely proud clans controlled the Emerald Isle. Bold chieftains, valiant warriors, mighty magicians, and indomitable women, they inhabited a land rich with promise and rife with treachery.
From stormy Eagle Island beautiful Arrah O'Donnel fled the horrors of an arranged marriage to seek her fortune on the high seas. There, Seaghan MacNamara, cast out from his own clan, would pursue her, determined to possess the woman who had inflamed his very soul.
Fate entwined them in a powerful web of lust and betrayal, sorcery and seduction. Their love would defy all the laws of Ireland, Christendom, and reason. Their story would become legend—the spellbinding tale of a bold woman who dared to become the mistress of her own destiny and a passion that defied man and God.
Elona Malterre describes The Last Wolf of Ireland as a dramatization of "issues concerning life, the futility of violence, and the recognition that human beings must respect all living things."
Born in France and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where she now lives, Elona Malterre is a recipient of the Bliss Carman Award for poetry. Her love of Ireland was sparked when she took a course in Irish literature leading to an M.A. in English.
She has taught literature and creative writing at the University of Calgary and at Mount Royal College, where she currently teaches part-time. Elona is the author of two historical novels for adults, The Celts and Mistress of the Eagles.
The Last Wolf of Ireland was written at the request of her daughter, Alexandra.
Well, such a strange book to start this year with. To be honest I never even intended to read it, but as a christmas gift I felt like I had to. And it is actually better than I expected, not your usual bodice ripper but there is plenty of sex in it, poorly written at that. Aside from that there is also a story .. a fast paced and interesting one with pirates and Irish lords which managed to keep my attention till the end.
Definitely a plus that the main character is a strong woman, it's nice to see that there are romance books that don't treat women like a stupid fucktoy.
This book is simply incredible. I couldn't put it down. It is such a fast-paced plot, I literally flew through it. The writing is amazing. One of the most memorable heroines of all time. If you like historical fiction, you must read this book. Also very very sensual, and written much better than 50 shade of gray.
It's a good story of adventures on the high seas, romance and a lot of sword fighting. It's a good story of how no matters how brave you are there are always going to be people there to help you.
