Okay, wow. This was better than the first (and that's saying something). I had . . . trepidation approaching this one because I really liked Chloe and Jason and I didn't want senseless retrograde relationship nonsense just to build a story. I mean, book 2 of a romance series with the same couple means something has to happen, right?

And truthfully, the book does have some problematic relationship wobbles and I didn't really appreciate it. And yes, I have to admit that it's very much within Chloe's character to have doubts and insecurities and in Jason's to have his internal guilt/pride thing going on. So there's nothing out of character so it's all very realistic and doesn't contradict anything in the other book.

And all that sounds very dire but I ended up loving how Tippetts made it all work. Not only was she not unreasonable, but she ends up showing how couples rely on the strength of their relationship to navigate difficult emotional waters. So the book ends up with a background theme of trust, love, and working towards one another in a relationship when other factors are working against you. So while I didn't appreciate it to start, I ended up appreciating a strong message, well-delivered.

But what really knocked this book out of the park for me was an inserted story that I found, at first, rather annoying. There are bits from a show of some kind interspersed throughout the novel (usually at the beginning of a chapter, but sometimes in the middle or end) and it's a bit annoying that you lack context for it. I finally figured out what was happening just before the middle of the book and it became explicit a bit later—and it became the vehicle for layering an extremely powerful emotional impact that put me literally in tears (in a good way, of course). This was very embarrassing in the middle of the work lunchroom, let me tell you, but at least nobody else was present. I'd gladly take more emasculation than that, however, for that delivery of hope in despair and dedication in the face of failure. What could have been a pedestrian treatise in simple luck and fortune became gloriously richer with layers of purpose, effort, gratitude, and finding value in unexpected but enriching places/people/circumstances.

That emotional impact was worth slogging through a slow story with uninteresting characters. Being set in a beautiful story with marvelous characters and excellent pacing made this a stand-out read that I wholeheartedly recommend. My only hesitation is that you appreciate the story so much more following the first book and this book isn't really a romance whereas that one most certainly is. In other words, if you're only into this type of thing for the romance, then you won't find what you're looking for here. What you'll find is, I think, better, but that's only true for my own, particular, tastes.

A note about Steamy: Like the first, there is no steam in this novel. Unlike the first, the main characters are clearly having sex. Tippetts manages just fine without showing details and the reader is in no doubt as to the extent or emotional content of their relationship.

Ok, I'll start by saying that I wasn't as keen on this one as I was on the first book.

The first book had me completely in love with Jason and I felt that there wasn't nearly enough of him in Nobody's Damsel. The book wasn't so much about Chloe and Jason's relationship as about a harrowing case of a missing little girl, Esperanza, that Chloe is working on, her first case as a forensic scientist.

I have to say I was expecting a lot more romance, so this threw me a little... I kept expecting it to go back to the Chloe and Jason romance, but it didn't really. There were elements of it... they had their ups and downs but it was almost a sub plot.

"It's better to have someone to miss than to never have had anyone at all. It's worth knowing people worth missing."

Whilst we're on the subject... I wanted to scratch Vicky's eyes out! And no, I didn't warm to her at the end. Not at all. She was an annoyance and I really didn't like her.

Right, so with the negatives out of the way, the plot was intriguing! The exact same thing that irritated me was, in some ways, that kept me reading; the storyline was completely unexpected.

"What's the most addictive drug?"
"I dunno. Crack? Meth? Nicotine? This some kind of test?"
"Wrong. The most addictive drug is a shot of pure luck. Being the one in a million."

As I mentioned, in the previous book, there were some much darker issues dealt with than you'd anticipate in an average chick lit and the author really drew upon and expanded on these in Nobody's Damsel. I felt like I was watching a crime drama. The details of crime scene investigation were intricate and so fascinating. I have no idea how accurate they were, I'm going to assume that Emily Mah Tippetts either has experience in this field, or reeeeally did her research, because it felt like she totally knew her stuff.

As per the first book, there was some great dialogue. Some really funny interactions between characters. I liked Chloe's relationships with her colleagues and with Detective Bacca. I enjoyed her determination to work in a role she had always dream of, despite her psuedo-celebrity status and the complications that arose.

"This witness, total Jason Vanderholt fan. Sees Chloe, starts talking."
"Use what you got,"
"Maybe we could get a cute puppy for Chloe to carry? Really soften her up"
"I could get Jason?"
"Overkill. The woman would faint."

I would liked to have seen more of the characters that were so prominent in the first book... Jason's family, Chloe's school friends and mother, etc. They kind of fell off of the face of the earth.

I liked the message of the story. It was a story about insecurity, guilt, a need for recognition and ultimately of acceptance. Acceptance within a relationship, acceptance of others, acceptance of fate and failure and the ability to feel accepted by the world we live in. And the ability to preserve hope when acceptance is proving impossible.

"Siempre Esperanza". Spanish for "Always Esperanza", or more accurately, "There Is Always Hope."

So, anyway... to answer my questions in the review of Somebody Else's Fairytale, yep, peoeple got laid (Thank God!) and yes, Chloe and Jason did get their happy ever after! *big happy grin*

Plot 8/10: I was expecting another fun romcom (romantic comedy) type book since the first in the series Someone Else's Fairytale was very much like that. But while the first book touched more on the romance and less on the tough topics (like child abuse), this one took the main character's dark past and used it to enhance the plot in so many ways. I LOVE crime shows like Law and Order. And chloe kind of reminded me of Olivia! I also felt that this book took the reader beyond the glam of crime shows and behind the scenes to what the people working on the cases feel while trying to solve them. At times I teared up. Especially in light of the shooting that just occurred since both involved young children. It's just not fair that children can't stay innocent anymore these days with all the cruelty that occurs and the author portrayed that perfectly.

Characters 9/10: I've always loved Chloe and Jason's characters. Chloe's easy to relate to because she's just an average girl who is vulnerable, but also really strong and independent. And I loooove that when she meets the guy of her dreams she doesn't become all needy and dependent like lots of girls in books. I relate to her because while I pride myself on being independent, sometimes in relationships that can backfire as we see with Chloe and Jason in this book. After learning to look out for herself she doesn't trust easily and she isn't afraid to confront people to keep her heart safe before it gets broken. Also, I like that being with someone famous doesn't change her into a bratty/entitled woman. Jason's adorable as usual even when he's being shady. I wish he was in it a little more as this was more about Chloe's time at her new job and less of a love story. I liked the minor characters too. Somehow E. M. T. was able to give them lots of character development too even if they weren't in many scenes.

Setting 8/10: When I think of New Mexico I often think of High School Musical. I know, that's very weird since I'm 23, but I watched it all the time back in the day. Anyways, I think it's a unique setting since most books take place in popular states like New York or Cali. I liked how the author also incorporated parts of New Mexico's history with the elders and their customs.

Pacing 8/10: The pacing was great and flowed nice and smooth. However, at the beginning of some chapters there was a screenplay of sorts that really confused me. I didn't realize until the last chapter what it was. And for me it actually made me forget where I had left off with Chloe's story if I wasn't reading it all in one sitting. Maybe I'm just stupid who knows.

Style 10/10: I love this author's writing and will continue to read anything she writes. It's raw and emotional, yet light and fluffy. Any author that can put those two styles in one book is awesome in my opinion.

Total: 93/100

Final thoughts: If you like any type of crime scene show you should try this book.

EM Tippetts has a habit of making the reader underestimate her books and then BAM! you feel silly for not seeing the ending. NOBODY'S DAMSEL was like this for me. I'd read book #1, Someone Else's Fairytale a while ago and loved it, so I was attached to these characters. The history and my attachment with the main characters, Jason and Chloe, boosted the read to a 4 starrer for most of my reading it and then this happened:

at 70-75% I said this: "Have you read SOMEONE ELSE'S FAIRYTALE (book #1)? Well this book #2 is different yet intriguing. I'm loving it!"

[Looks like something epic is happening]

at 90-95% I said this: "Dang!! This book has twisted my arm behind my back and made me bow to it. Did NOT see that twist."

[Sounds painfully great!]

NOBODY'S DAMSEL takes a different turn in the storyline than FAIRYTALE. This one is more of a mystery, but behind it all is the core relationship between swoony Jason Vanderholt and Chloe. I'm happy EM Tippetts chose this road. We learn more about both Jason and Chloe this way -- a deeper level into their personality and how this affects their careers, him as an A-List Hollywood actor and her as a forensic scientist.

I know so many people will relate to this book. Chloe and Jason get married in FAIRYTALE without getting to know the ins and outs of each other properly. This book is a fantastic story about a newlywed's troubles to form a happy life as one unit and understand each other's differences. It's cute and lovely.

But let me just say that the main storyline, the "mystery" part, will blow you away. Chloe was abducted and almost killed as a child and guess what? Her first case is almost identical to what happened to her. She's thrust into this situation where she must live by her horrible memories constantly, all while the paparazzi are incredibly horrible to her, yet push that aside and focus on this poor little girl.

NOBODY'S DAMSEL blew me away. I had to write this review three days after I finished the book just to compile my thoughts and do this review justice.

The two minutes of Jason and Kyra talking about Jason's favorite book in Break It Up are better than this entire book. (In fairness, those are really, really good minutes. I loved them so much.) But this book is such an incomplete story and there's no real resolution, and I wanted one. I did like knowing the Emmy and Golden Globes bit, but that wasn't the resolution to the story; instead, the book ended with more of that weird celebrity coexistence stuff that Chloe - feels above? Or separate from? It's confusing, and indefinite, and I wanted more that wasn't cliche and expected. You can predict every argument they have, and because it's expected, it isn't all that convincing. Or interesting.

31% and I am done ! I can't keep reading this book. It is so annoying. All I have been reading so far is about a crime. It is just annoying. Where the hell is Jason? Is like I am reading a book about cops.

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Nobody's Damsel from the author, Emily Mah Tippetts prior to release. This book is the second in Tippett's Someone Else's Fairytale series. Nobody's Damsel picks up after Chloe finishes her masters degree and has taken a job back in her hometown of Albuquerque, NM. Jason is still a highly successful and wanted actor but now he is a married man. They both love each other but is love always enough? The major difference now is the fact that they are trying to adjust to their life together as both of their careers seem to lead them in different directions. Chloe lands her dream job working in Albuquerque as a forensic scientist but the first case that she is a part of drudges up feelings from her own personal past. Along with the stress from her job she also has to deal with the stress that comes with being a movie stars wife. Dealing with Hollywood rumors and scandals can eat up at a person, especially one as wholesome as Chloe. Jason is also dealing with stress caused from his career and he struggles with wanting to do something that is meaningful through his acting. He is sometimes his worst critic and always pressures himself to do good but he also has the habit of wanting to help out those he considers his friends. If he makes the wrong choices it could end his Hollywood career but if he continues down the path he has always been on he fears he will just fade out after a decade without a memorable mark on life. Marriage can be tough for newlyweds but it's even tougher when you add stress from outsiders and careers. Chloe and Jason have to learn to get through things together and learn to lean on each other and also trust each other.
I liked the first book but I will say that the second one was far more interesting to me. At first I was thrown off by the script that was strategically placed in the storyline (once you read this book you will understand what I am speaking of) but it actually ties in very nicely to the storyline. I loved the plot in this book, it was expertly thought out and flowed rather nicely. The characters developed even more and it was nice to see that even though they were married in the first book, that didn't change their personalities much. If anything it was their careers that made them seem more fragile in this book. And the actual crime scenario in this book made my heart break and jump at times. I couldn't actually figure it out, it was almost like reading the screen play of CSI. I actually really enjoyed the fact that the author kept everything wholesome yet again with no need to make it more provocative or graphic. Younger people can read this book and enjoy it as well as adults who like romance crime dramas. I would suggest that anyone that reads the first book in this series, Someone Else's Fairytale, read the second book before making any assumptions on the series. The books are completely different but book one felt more like an introduction to the two main characters where as book two dives into the the meat of things. Again I really enjoyed this series and if there is a third book then I plan on reading that as well.

(Source: I received a digital copy of this book on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Emily Mah Tippetts.)
This is book 2 in the ‘Someone Else’s Fairytale’ series, and kicks of 6 months after the end of book 1. **Warning – some unavoidable spoilers for book 1**
It’s six months since Chloe and Jason tied the knot, and now Chloe has to deal with the pressures of having a movie star for a husband, especially one who the media constantly report is having an affair.

Chloe is starting her new job in the crime labs, which she has wanted to do since her own ordeal as a child, even though she now doesn’t need the money.

Can Chloe and Jason make their marriage work whilst the media keep intruding on their lives? Is there any truth to the speculation that Jason is having an affair? And how will the media spotlight affect Chloe’s own career?

I always find it interesting to read a book which comes after the ‘happily ever after’. So many books end with a fairy-tale wedding, and then you never know what happens next, and as much as you want to believe that they do have a ‘happily ever after’, you know that that’s really not realistic. So when there’s a sequel to one of these books, it tends to be an interesting read!

Chloe and Jason didn’t have the most average of courtships, and you just know that they’re not going to have the most average of marriages either, especially not with Jason being off all over the place filming movies and doing interviews and stuff. I liked the fact that Chloe hadn’t abandoned her own dreams though, which might have been expected of her given her husband’s career. Chloe’s stubborn streak continues in this book though, and she has set her sights on doing what she wanted to do – become a crime scene investigator.

One of the major things that Chloe has to deal with in this book though is the allegations of Jason’s infidelity. Chloe seemed to be fairly trusting of Jason in the first book, so much so that when she caught him with his co-star in his room, she believed him when he said that nothing was going on, but with the constant insinuations and newspaper articles, you can understand when her unwavering belief in him was swayed slightly.

I liked how the storyline in this second book was focused less on romance, and more on the hard work that a relationship takes, and Chloe’s own career. The mystery aspect of the storyline was well done, and although this aspect of the story didn’t have quite such a happy ending, the author managed to spin the overall ending to be positive, which was quite a feat in itself!

In my opinion this shift from romance novel, to something with a little more bite was well done, and sat well with the first book too. It will be interesting to see where Chloe’s new job takes her next, and how that continues to affect Chloe and Jason’s relationship.

Overall; a change when compared to the original story, but a great mystery/real-life romance read.
7 out of 10.

I'm so bummed about this. I knew this was going to be different from the first book, but it really didn't do it for me. I would have liked for there to be a bigger focus on the romance. I just feel like the transition from romance story to mystery story wasn't executed as well as it could have been. Besides having the same central characters, I feel like this book wasn't even related to the first one. So because of that, I had little enjoyment for the story.

I loved this sequel! When I reviewed Someone Else’s Fairytale, I gushed about how much I loved the characters and how down to earth and real and believable they were and Nobody’s Damsel felt the same way.

My favorite aspect of this sequel was seeing how Jason and Chloe began their life together and watching them work out the kinks in their relationship. It felt so realistic and I could relate to so many aspects of it. I enjoy a good romance with tons of steam and maybe even a love triangle here and there, but it was so refreshing to see two people overcome real issues and talk things out. Chloe and Jason have completely different careers and Jason’s was hard to deal with when the paparazzi followed Chloe around on a regular basis and the tabloids made up ridiculous stories. It was like the two of them decided to spend the rest of their life together and that was no question, but they were figuring out the logistics of every day life. I could relate because I’ve been there and I loved the way the two of them handled things. I love when sequels tackle the logistics of two people starting a relationship when book one is typically how they meet and fall in love. I like to see love radiate off of the characters even after initially falling into it and Nobody’s Damsel was perfect in that sense.

I hate to give away much from the series (especially since it’s a given that Jason and Chloe ended up together after book 1), but I liked seeing Chloe work in her field and overcome her own past in order to get through a difficult case that mirrored her own in so many ways. Nobody’s Damsel wasn’t a dark book, nor what I would classify as a crime drama, but both played a major role in the plot. I thought it was interesting to combine what I would call a contemporary upper YA romance with a crime drama and E.M. Tippetts was able to do it well.

E.M. Tippetts has a fantastic ability to write a great story. Nobody’s Damsel made me smile and made me frown and upset me in some parts and it had suspense in others. Somehow, the author was able to get me to care about crime drama and life as a celebrity, two things that I wouldn’t have considered appealing to read about, without me even realizing how it happened! I absolutely love Jason and Chloe, as characters and as a couple. I couldn’t put this book down and I loved it so much, I contemplated picking up book 1 and rereading it because I wanted to experience the series from the beginning again. I highly recommend this series and I can’t wait to read more from the author.

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. I read it every free chance I had . Nobody's Damsel is a good sequel and a good read. It is clean, engaging, sweet, and gripping in parts.

This review will contain SPOILERS for Someone Else's Fairytale. So, if you do not want to know what happened in the first book of that series, stop reading now, go get that book (Amazon, Barnes & Noble), and then read this review and get this book.

I enjoyed watching Jason and Chloe's relationship start and grow in Someone Else's Fairytale. To hear about their early married life was a treat. Ms. Tippetts wrote the characters and their relationship so well. It was real. Anyone could relate to the issues they faced and the tension that so many newlyweds endure. I felt for Chloe and Jason. I worried about them. The first year of marriage can be tough. I can't imagine the first year of marriage when one spouse is a movie star and the other is starting what can be an emotionally draining career, a crime scene analyst.

Ms. Tippetts also writes wonderful secondary characters. While these characters are not focused upon, they add a lot to the story and to the development of the main characters. I really liked Miguel and Detective Baca. Miguel was unsure about Chloe, especially considering who she is married to, but he gives her the benefit of the doubt and they seem to hit it off. He looks out for her in the office as well. Detective Baca is still so proud of the woman Chloe became despite the ordeal that he saved her from during her childhood. I also liked the paparazzo that was following Chloe and snapping pictures. He turned out to have some redeeming qualities.

The story itself was good. At first, I was confused with the movie/television scenes that started most chapters. They seemed to be exactly what was happening in each chapter. However, once I found out the background to those scenes...how those scenes came about...I really liked it. What a clever angle on that sub-story!
I want more about Chloe and Jason! I hope that there is another book in the Someone Else's Fairytale series.

Would I recommend it: I would recommend it. Be sure to read the first book, Someone Else's Fairytale.

Will I read it again: I may read this book again at some point in the future, especially if I re-read Someone Else's Fairytale or if another book in this series is released.

Firstly I’d like to thank the author for sending me an ARC to read and give an honest review. This is the sequel to Someone Else’s Fairytale which I also read and reviewed. I had wanted to know what happened next in Chloe’s life so was excited to find out that this sequel had been written, I was even more excited to learn that the author plans on turning this into a series!

This time around Chloe and Jason were facing the kind of obstacles that I would imagine any kind of celebrity romance would face – rumours of cheating, press intrusion and work commitments etc. The cheating rumour was like a big question mark hanging over the story, I didn’t want to believe that Jason was not being faithful because I really liked Chloe but the signs weren’t looking good.

The style of writing was comfortable and I quickly found myself back in Chloe and Jason’s world, I loved Chloe’s new career as a forensic scientist because it gave an edge to the storyline and after what had been revealed in the previous book it made complete sense to me.

This was much more intense than the first book and I enjoyed the criminal side to it even though there were some parts that I found difficult to read. One particular moment had tears running down my face because I had become so caught up in what was going on in the storyline. It was an extremely difficult subject to tackle but I felt that the author handled it perfectly with just the right amount of detail.

There was a screen play running throughout the chapters which was clearly based on the main story – this confused me to begin with and it wasn’t until near the end that I fully understood what this was all about, it was a clever way of bringing Chloe and Jason’s careers together. Combining the worlds of a celebrity and a forensic scientist was brilliant and I really enjoyed it when the two blended together, the idea of celebrity connections helping to solve a case was fantastic in my opinion.

I didn’t think there was as much romance in this book but it didn’t matter because it was just as compelling, I couldn’t stop reading and actually ended up finishing it in just a few hours! I’m looking forward to the next in the series and seeing where life takes Chloe and Jason next.

This was a gritty and enjoyable book that gripped me from the very first page.

Review in Detail:
Now... I really really liked the first book in this series & wasn't sure what to expect in this second book. I'm torn a little because while I didn't enjoy this story as much as the first (Someone Else's Fairy Tale), I completely love that the author shows us the real life of Chloe & Jason. This story shows all the shit that happens to them day to day and how they work through it... So with that said - I really really liked that Emily, the author, chose to show what happens after the "ever after" to Chloe and Jason. Is it pretty ... not really, but life isn't pretty. I loved that aspect in this book - the truth that sneaks in there and bites you in the ass when you are like me and want sunshine and rose and all the shit but don't really expect it to happen in real life. I really did like the truth that was shown in this book. This married couple is just like every other married couple in the world - they fight, they disagree, they don't know how to talk to each other all the time & they have to figure shit out on their own and make decisions for themselves. I really really liked how this story is centered around Chloe and her new career. I could not for the life of me figure out what what going on at the beginning of the chapters - read it and you'll know what I'm talking about - but soon I figured it out... not going to lie I was like 3/4 of the way through the book... but I got there! And once I got there - I knew what was going to happen - don't know if that's because I was so far into the book or what, but I'm betting that's why, my kittens... The end of this book - I LOVED! Completely LOVED!!

So let's see... I already really liked these characters and while I don't usually like truth and reality in my reading, since really reading is like mini vacation for me, I really did like reading this book. I think you should check it out =) but read the 1st book first - you'll like it better that way & stuff will make more sense!!

Nobody's Damsel is the sequel to the popular romance Someone Else's Fairytale by the talented Emily Mah Tippetts. I was very excited when I found out that Emily planned to write another book in the series because I loved Chloe and Jason. I wondered at the end of book one what would happen in their lives. Nobody's Damsel doesn't disappoint. The characters stayed true to themselves. Their lives aren't perfect, but neither are Jason or Chloe. Chloe lives her own life even though she is married to a Hollywood heartthrob. Despite being stalked by the paparazzi and having her name and relationship splashed across the tabloids she is trying to live normally. Chloe experiences a steep learning curve when it comes to dealing with the press. It affects her in ways she hasn't forseen and influences her marriage, even though she tries not to let it. I think she's an incredible wife. Her relationship with Jason is real. It's not all romance this time; they have issues to work through. I'm not sure I could be as trusting as she is, especially given the warning Jason's assistant gives her. It skewed my thinking of him early on and made me question Jason a lot more than I would have otherwise. I still don't like Jason's old friend and don't trust her. Chloe really grows in this novel. She is someone who experienced an extreme trauma in her past and has a hard time letting people in. Even though she loves Jason there is still a little of herself that she has been protecting. It was good to see that defense start to crumble. Jason and Chloe don't get much time together in this book because they are both working. I love their shared scenes and I hope they get to spend more time together when the next book comes out. Yes, I have it confirmed: there will be a third book! :) If you haven't read Someone Else's Fairytale, you really should change that. Then come back and read Nobody's Damsel as well. It comes out January 5.

I was given the opportunity to pre-read this book in exchange for an honest review so here it goes...

I had mixed feeling about reading this book because I had liked where the story had left off and was unsure how their story was going to unfold.

I found that in this book Chloe is going through a phase trying to find herself and come to terms with her past, chaotic present and uncertain future. At the same time Jason is also trying to find himself but with the help of his ex. What the?

Tumblr_mezldgmc451s0qwnuo1_500_large

During the first book I loved Jason but in this book I was a little disappointed in him and his choices and his way of communicating them. I am hoping in the next book he will be able to redeem himself.

During this book we start to meet more characters with Chloe working whom all are great strong characters and add to the depth of Chloe of her past and present. Plus we get to see more of the Vandrholt's. To whom I absolutely adore this family if only we could all have such supportive and loving in-laws.

One of the things that I love about Jason and Chloe is the way E.M captures their awkwardness together. It just seems to make them more real and relatable. It is a tough in any relationship but to have a relationship with each partner having their lives so far apart will be tough on anyone and then throw in being in the public eye as well. Their love is strong and can stand to many challenges. In the end that is what matters most.

I quite like this series and I am looking forward to the future journey of Jason & Chloe.

This book isn't released yet but I had the chance to read it in turn for an honest review by the author.

This book was split into two. One with Chloe's POV and one with what appeared a script. The script and Chloe's POV usually had similarities (you'll understand why when you read the book). That's when I understood that this book would not have a lot to do with just Jason and Chloe's marriage but also with Chloe's job.

Chloe's job as a forensic scientist to precedence over all themes in the book. It helped you to really understand what a 'crim' does. At times I did find the parts with her job were a tad boring but it was necessary. The first half of the book was rather uneventful with the paparazzi who by the way are annoying (as they are in real life) and her job at the early stages of the case that she was working on. The second half I had me totally engrossed. The case was definitely more interesting and I began to appreciate what 'crims' do.

Jason and Chloe's marriage did play a big part in the book. I was able to see the ups and downs of their new and high-profiled marriage from the paparazzi following them to their differences. I truly enjoyed seeing their problems and their doubts in their marriage.

So there was one major thing that I was not happy about. There was less Kyra. I loved Kyra in 'Someone Else's Fairytale' but I understood why there was less because of Chloe's POV. I just hope that there is more of her in the next book (Yes, there is a next book, thank God).

What I expect in the next book:

Jen to give . Chloe and Jason to deep their & there must be more Kyra especially because of that .

Everyone who loved 'Someone Else's Fairytale' and wants to follow up Chloe and Jason should definitely read this book.

Nobody’s Damsel is the sequel to Someone Else’s Fairytale by E.M. Tippetts. Given that Fairytale was a romance, I expected much the same from Damsel. This book, however, focuses less on romance and takes on the much tougher topic of child kidnapping and homicide. Damsel is a MYSTERY with a touch of romance- it is a much more mature work. The characters are beautifully developed, well written and realistic. The story does not gloss over Chloe and Jason’s relationship but depicts the vicissitudes of their marriage, highlighting the hard work and trust necessary to sustain a real relationship. Despite that fact that Tippetts took liberties with the storyline that a real “crim” would cringe at, the reader would never know- it’s only Tippetts own admission in the Author’s Note that draws attention to the fact that many of the scenarios in this book are simply storytelling devices! This alone is a testament to how well researched and written this book is. I was slightly disappointed at the end- I was waiting for more to happen. Not that Damsels plot is light in any way, but when (SPOILER ALERT) the paparazzi provided Chloe with the photo of the abductor, I expected the story to follow that vein, catch the criminal, etc. I simply found myself enjoying the story so much that I wanted to know where else it was going to go, how it was going to end. I was pleased to see that Tippetts plans a third book in this series, whether it will pick up with this “perp” or follow Chloe on another adventure is anybody guess. I thoroughly enjoyed Damsel! I can’t wait to see where else Chloe’s career (and love life) take her.

This series, to me, is sweet...like cotton candy sweet. I fell in love with the first one not because it was earth shattering, jaw dropping, or any of those heart stopping type books. No, this was pure happiness. Plain and simple.

Now that Chloe and Jason (swoon) are together, they are trying to figure out how to balance their lifes. Jason's still the most sought after actor around while Chloe just wants to go unnoticed and do her work. Unfortunately, being married to one of Hollywood's finest doesn't allow you the luxury of privacy.

Nobody's Damsel wasn't on the same adorable level that Someone Else's Fairytale was. I still really enjoyed it but it didn't have the same magic. I found myself a little annoyed with Chloe and her stubborness. I get being strong and independant, but at the same time, you're in a marriage which is a partnership, treat it as such. And then there was Jason. He was still adorable as ever, but there was a nice little chunk in the middle where I didn't really see the point in where the author went .

I've heard there's going to be a third and I will be anxiously awaiting it. A normal girl getting the Hollywood hunk...it's like my dreams are now in book form :)

I was excited to be able to read Nobody's Damsel. I read the first book in this series, Someone Else's Fairy Tale and I really enjoyed it. These books have a bit of mystery along with the romance that keep the story moving on several different levels.

To me, Chloe is someone I can relate to. She has insecurities where her marriage is concerned but she has that determination to make it work. Jason's career make it so difficult to stay steady in their relationship. How hard would a marriage be when everyone around you is just waiting for it to blow up and would gladly help that along just for a story? Man, marriage is hard enough without all that! Chloe has been put in such a difficult position yet she keeps trying and working at the communication and love.

I like the crime/forensic aspect of this story line and the different characters and personalities that brought into the book. It kept things interesting.

This was a fun book. It was easy reading and I read through it quickly. The author says there is more to come in this series so I'll be looking forward to that! My thanks to E.M. Tippets for allowing me to read and review her book.

Content: There were some instances of mild swearing and some mentions of a sexual relationship before marriage.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I read Someone Else's Fairytale earlier this year and loved it! It's rare that I enjoy romance/chick lit type books but this series is refreshing and I love the author's writing style. Chloe's character captured me immediately and I was really excited when I learned that there would be a sequel!

Nobody's Damsel did not disappoint. It delves in to Chloe's life as her marriage to superstar Jason Vanderholt has just begun. She's completed school and is beginning to work as a forensic scientist, a vocation that is so important to her given her history. Her first case is pretty intense and I really enjoyed that it was a big focus of the book. There are definitely relationship struggles with Chloe and Jason but those took somewhat of a back seat to the case and how it affected Chloe. It ends up having an effect on Jason as well and I liked how the author tied in his career insecurities with the case and he and Chloe's relationship.
It was a lot more complex than I expected, in the best way! I loved it and hope that we will get to enjoy more books about these great characters!

This is the sequel to Someone Else's Fairytale. This book gives you a glimpse of what it could be like to be married to someone famous, while still trying to live the life you have worked hard for. Tabloids and rumors are only part of Chloe Vanderholts life now. Jason pledged she was his soul mate, could he have been wrong?
I loved where Emily brought the characters from the first book. It hadn't been too long from when we last read about them. Chloe is finally finished with school, they are both transitioning, not just to married life, but to their different work and living arrangements. Drama is definitely a fixture in this novel, and just the right amount if you ask me. Emily would have no problem expounding on Chloe and Jason's lives. Even looking more into Kyra's life, and what in the world goes on in that girls head. lol
Follow Chloe and Jason in another exciting adventure that has romance, drama, and tragedy. This book will be released January 5th. Make sure you pick up Someone Else's Fairytale before then and be ready for Nobody's Damsel when it comes out!

A really fun followup to Someone Else's Fairytale. I love the characters in this series so much, and Chloe and Jason's ups and downs just feel pitch-perfect - Emily Tippetts is SO good at writing relationships! And I love the story lines with their family members, too. The only reason this is a 4-star review from me is entirely personal and subjective - since I'm the mom of 2 young kids, I have a hard time reading plots that involve injury to young children (Chloe is a forensic scientist, and is working on a child-abduction case in this novel), so I had to stick to skim-reading those parts of the book as I read to keep myself from getting too upset. Someone without my personal hangups, though, would get a lot more out of that storyline, I'm sure! And it really is sensitively done - I'm just too raw to read about that stuff right now. But it's a sign of how good the writing is, and how much I love the characters, that I not only kept on reading, I devoured the book in just a couple of hours - and immediately moved on to the next related book, Break It Up! (Rave review to follow. :) )

I loved this book, as much as I loved the first one, Someone Else's Fairytale. In this one Chloe and Jason have been married about a year, but have spent a lot of time apart, due to her Masters studies and his film making. Paparazzi and gossip magazines are accosting Chloe and hinting at marital problems. Chloe is bothered but decides to keep an open mind, which is proof of how intelligent she is. I loved how Jason enforces his devotion to Chloe each time they meet, he's very much a man in love with his wife, but he has career issues too. The presence of a previous girlfriend brings some tension but Chloe manages it with a lot of dignity and intelligence. Her involvement with her work is brilliant, it brings everything together in a very spectacular way, and even solves Jason's seft doubts.

I didn't like the second book as much as the first book.

Firstly, when I read the book, it felt like all the good points were jumbled up all over the place. I didn't even have enough time to really understand what was going on. Secondly, while reading the book, I thought I was reading a mystery criminal novel, instead of the love life of Jason and Chloe. It was really bewildering, all the crime scene, I didn't even understand any part of it. The author laid out the thoughts of Chloe, but I still found it hard to understand what was going on in her head. Let alone, trying to understand what was Jason thinking half the time. Overall, this book was really confusing and all over the place. The first book was way better even though the story developed too fast.

This is perhaps a funny kind of complaint, but I had trouble with this one because I didn't believe it all! Sure, in the first book Chloe fell in love with a movie star, but in this one I didn't believe the beginning of her job. I was relatively fine with her giving press conferences and getting involved in the case more than a real crim would. I mean, that's an accepted part of the mystery genre. But where were the weeks (months?) of training? I don't care how good your education is, you need training before you jump into doing the actual work.

So, uh, yeah, maybe I discovered a new pet peeve?

But I still enjoyed it overall. I like these characters quite a bit.

Thanks to the lovely E.M.Tippetts I have had the honor to read this book before its release date (5th of January, 2013), so you can check my full review here

This is one of the few books which had everything I could ever wish for in a book- bit of science, handsome Hollywood guy, friendship, love, inner battles with past and romance. Plus, an amazing cover art!
