Grrr! I was really excited about this series after reading the Latvala Royals series, which is one of my favorites, but this book fell flat for me. I didn't feel any chemistry with him and Alannah and I was kind of hoping he would write her off and we'd see him in another book. I just didn't like her much. After more consideration I really didn't like Mattiis much in this either. He was one of my favorite characters in the Previous series. I don't know, maybe the next book will be better.

Wow! I've so been looking forward to reading Mattias' story that I just expected too much. First and foremost, the cover of the book was not the Mattias I feel Ms. Bourdon has described so often in her previous work. She described him as well built and dark haired; yet, the man on this cover is slightly built and medium coloring. However, this is a minor concern as opposed to the lack of chemistry I felt between Mattias and his love interest, Allanah. It just did not play out well for me and it was more "tepid" than hot!

The Royal Elite is a group of wealthy and privileged who seek to protect others of their kind. While attending a social event, Mattias discovers that Allanah, the daughter of a wealthy Australian is the target of an ordered assassination attempt. If he has any chance of protecting her and ferreting out the intended culprits he will have to get close to her. Unfortunately, Allanah is socially inept and wants nothing more than to be left alone.

When Allanah meets Prince Mattias she believes he is just another attractive rich manwhore put for his latest conquest. Even though she shares her love of history and unique artifacts, she knows he is bored with her interests. Yet, she finds herself attracted to him until she passes by his room and hears him engaged in a dalliance with a blond. Although she is not sure why she us upset by this she decides to stay clear of him.

Then things begin to happen, the power goes out at the mansion and Allanah is kidnapped. Yet, Mattias and the Elite manage to spoil the kidnapping. While on the run, Allanah must learn to trust Mattias if she us to survive and somehow their attraction for one another seems to grow.

Truthfully, I love the world Danielle Bourdon creates;so, I just don't know what went wrong for me here. I think that part of the problem was that the relationship between the characters felt rushed. They just did not connect and did not appear to be more than casual acquaintances. They did not seems to have anything in common including sexual tension or heat. I just did not buy it! Maybe when the next book in the series comes out something will click for me. I sure hope so because Mattias was one of my favorite characters from the Latvala Royals.

I enjoyed reading the adventure of Mattias and Allanah. I would have loved for their relationship to be developed deeper through the course of the novel. I enjoyed the last two chapters wished that more of the book was like that.

Would love to read more on these two and see how the relationship progresses. I guess we we're spoiled with the other Latvala series and now I wished I had more to read...

Can't wait to read the other stories from the Royal Elite group.

Oh man, I had such high hopes for this book. Don't get me wrong it was good, yet, it wasn't nearly as epic as the Latvala series featuring Dare and Chey.

But, it was a great book and I am thoroughly pleased with it overall. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series to be released.

The Latvala series is still my all time fav with Chey and Dare though. :)

I enjoyed this book a great deal. happy to finally know what Mattias had been up to when he disappers.
I couldnt give 5 stars however. I think I was hoping for more twists and turns like the Latvala Royals series had.
aside from that it was great

I liked Mattias in the other series but I am not keen on manwhore types and he comes across as exactly that.
He spends the day with the heroine, feels a spark but sleeps with a different woman that night .
Not for me.

The one word i could think of for this book would be, Simple. The romance is good, well written but it lacked the spark. I generally like the romances that are intense and maybe thats why this book is not for me.

This new series by Danielle Bourdon is a spin-off from the Latvala Royals Series. I was thrilled to hear that the author was creating this new series as I loved the Latvala Royals and wasn’t ready to give them up. Book #1 did not disappoint as it told the story of Mattias. Mattias is directly from the Latvala Royals Series and is as Prince of Latvala. In this story, you learn more about Mattias and about the work of the Royal Elite.

As Mattias attempts to perform his duties for the Royal Elite, he finds himself drawn to the object of his duty, the beautiful Alannah. As the book progresses, you will be drawn into the web of excitement as Mattias works to not only protect but to eventually save Alannah from the forces at work. As exciting as the story is, the biggest question becomes will Mattias continue to fight his attraction to Alannah because of the secrecy of the Royal Elite. Definitely worth reading to find the answer! Great job to Ms. Bourdon! This is going to be another great series! Five stars!

After reading Danielle Bourdon's Latvala Royals series, I was excited to have a book dedicated solely to Mattias. While I enjoyed this book and the very different premise of this series, I found the book less addictive than the previous series. This surprised me because I read all five of the books in the companion series one after the other and finished each one in less than three days.

I think my major issue with the book was the relationship between Mattias and Alannah. The two had an interesting dynamic and I appreciated Danielle Bourdon including a different kind of heroine in her books, but there was so much friction between Mattias and Alannah for the entirety of the book that I couldn't lose myself in the story. As such, it took me much longer to finish this book. I will probably read the next book in the series to see if the relationship between Mattias and Alannah is explored in more depth, but I can't rate this book nearly as high as I was hoping to.

Well I have to say I agree with a lot of other reviewers, this book was good as a stand alone read but coming off the back of the Latvala series I just expected more. The last few Latvala novels earned four and five stars from me but this one a disappointing three.

I liked both Alannah and Mattias but I didn't feel that they worked as a couple very well. We didn't get to know them intimately or deeply, just shallow observations and a vague impressions, which left me feeling as though they didn't know each other and that bothered me. I much preferred the ending in which they both seem to want a relationship a lot more.

On the positive side I always did have the distinct impression that Mattias would be a bit alright in bed....!

Danielle Bourdon is a fantastic storyteller. I am in love with the royals series. It has just enough suspense and mystery tangled in with the romance that leaves me wanting more and more. I believe this series could go on forever. I want to read more about the whole royal family and their brethren.

The Royal Elite: Mattias was no different. I fell in love with Mattias from the first book in the Royals series. His whole demeanor had me wanting more. These novels are great reads that I will read over and over. I can't wait to read the rest and please please please Danielle write more of Chey, Sander and the rest of the Royals family. Probably my favorite series right now.

Well, now we know why Mattias was unavailable for most of "The Wrath of the King"...

This book, though, didn't impress me as much as the Royals series did. Still the same editing gaffes as the others, and the storyline wasn't as engaging. Mattias was so much...more in the other stories that I ended up disappointed. This one didn't have the same energy signature for Mattias, and I felt cheated, like his character needed resolution from the previous books & this one was rushed as a result.

Loved the idea of Mattias, but it wasn't carried through. Shame.

I loved Matthias in the other royal series so I bought this book hoping for the best. Well, I was a little disappointed. Although I enjoyed the book, it didn't hold my attention like the previous ones. I do understand it is an entirely different series but I guess I was hoping for more romance and maybe a bit of the other character to be in it. At least I found out why Matthias wasn't in the last book of the Royal series.

Sad to say, but I will not be purchasing the other books of this series. I'm just not interested in the other characters in tis book to spend money on them.

I always liked Mattias from the original Latvala Royals series, and although I wished I knew more about him, this book made me truly believe in the phrase; Be careful what you wish for.

It was an okay concept but it was executed poorly, I honestly could not see how the attraction between the characters grew so quickly, it was like they were 13.

Considering this was the first in a whole series entitled The Royal Elite, I'm not feeling particularly inspired to keep reading

This little spin-off series of the Latvala books is not as good, but still entertaining. I was curious to see why Mattias was absent from book 5 of aforementioned series. And now we know why. There's plenty of suspense in here, and perhaps cheesiness, but these have become a guilty pleasure. ;-0

During Heir Untamed you were introduced to Mattias. I felt like he got short changed because he was a big part of Chey's life, so much so that I thought those two would end up together.

This story take place during the same time as The Wrath of the King. You finally get to find out where Mattias was during that whole book.

I spent the very end of 2015 discovering, and binge reading, Danielle Bourdon's Latvala Royals series, happily diving into Mattias' story, which I loved. I do not want to give anything away, but if you enjoy contemporary romance with a dash of adventure, and a heaping amount of alpha heroes, you really need to read about Mattias. Next up, Ahsan...

I really hope that the author comes out with the next book of this series soon. I liked that it filled in soooo many blanks as to his absence in the other series.

If there is another book after this someone let me know. Lol thanks

I enjoyed the book! I like how the story was filled in from the previous series. I also like how Mattias fell for someone that was not his usual type of girl. I can't wait to read the next one in the series!!!

I agree with the previous comments. I lived Mattias in Lavatla serie. I had high expectations for this book but I didn't enjoy it as much. I was glad to know where he was when they couldn't reach him in the previous serie but I was hoping for more...not sure what but it was missing something.
