Großartig von Anfang bis Ende!

Sonderlich viel habe ich hierzu nicht zu sagen. Mit den 70 leicht und schnell gelesenen Seiten, die einen wahrscheinlich auf der Bühne etwas witzigeren Inhalt mit überdeutlicher Moral enthalten, habe ich mich weder gequält, noch hatte ich eine übermäßige Freude am Lesen. Dafür war's in einer Stunde erledigt und gelangweilt habe ich mich auch nicht.

Nestroy is one of my fave Austrian playwright. Lumpacius Vagabundus is such a hilarious play, with lot of moral questions. The story is easy to follow, there is a pleasant harmony between reality and imagination.

Streckenweise witzig, zieht sich etwas in der Mitte. Idealismus in Form von Liebe besiegt alles plus Happy End. Alles in Allem gutes, einfaches Drama schnell gelesen

3.5 a story which is pretty much a satire of the austrian way of living in the earlier days! i can imagine it’s funnier on stage, but it wasn’t bad to read!

A very funny play, basically a Satire of Viennese life during the mid 19th century, 1833. Nestroy uses a lot of local slang and tells the story of three journeymen dealing with winning the lottery. One pursues a girl and gets rich, the other drinks it all because he thinks the worlds ending in a year, and the last goes bankrupt. It's pretty good, a bit difficult to get used to the way it's written but after a few read overs and a handy Notes and Documents book from the library I was able to get through with ease.

Eine unterhaltsame Moralpredigt, die leichter zu lesen gewesen wäre, wenn ich am Anfang nach der Seite mit den Worterklärungen gesucht hätte.
