Good With His Hands - 4 Stars
How come I didn't know about this series by Lori Foster? Well, I really enjoyed this story, which is # 3 in the Watson Brothers, and believe me I'll go back and read the rest. It was cute, funny, sexy and hot. There's the girl next door, Cassidy, who's a bit of a tomboy, doesn't worry too much about how she dresses or what her hair looks like. She works with, and now lives next door to, hunky and to-die-for hot Pete Watson. They've been best friends for over a year, they have a great routine together, almost as if they're married, but it's not sexual between them. Until Pete decides that he wants it to be sexual. And of course, Cassidy had been drooling over him the whole time and torturing herself by being so close and not having him so she's all for the idea of them together. Pete was just too cute. The guy just had no clue sometimes about things and it was adorable to see him wonder how his charms might not be working on Cassidy. She's the girl with the plan of where her life is going and what kind of guy she wants to marry. And that guy is so not him. But maybe he can make the effort and be what he feels her ideal is. Or make her realize that she wants him instead as he is. Because he realizes he's been falling for her this whole time.
Miss Extreme Congeniality - 3.5 Stars
I'll tell you what with this Erin McCarthy story. It was hot! The sexual tension was there constantly BUT I was not sold on the heroine of the novel, nor was I sold on how quickly they "fell for each other". Let me explain. CJ and White are undercover cops on a case. They've been working this case for a while and she just hates his guts, she thinks he's a playboy chasing after skirts and has no respect for him as a person. But she wants him. Wyatt on the other hand seems to not have noticed her much, she gives off a very don't-mess-with-me vibe and he's kept his distance. So they haven't had a chance to even get to know each other in the slightest. Then one night while on assignment working at a party they decide to have sex. As a deal. She will go to Wyatts' house for an all-night sex-fest and then after that he will transfer to another city when they're done with the case. But it turns out that the wild night of passion turns into I love yous. But still a very hot story and an enjoyable read.
Last Call by Morgan Leigh - 3 Stars
Tess is a singer at a local bar in Justice, North Carolina. She's recently moved to the town (and I'm not telling you why). One night she catches the eye of a really good looking, if a bit rough and greasy at the moment, bad boy. Fletcher felt that connection, lust and need, at first sight. Recently divorced from his gold digging wife, he's still a bit careful with women but he can't not go after Tess that night. But he's keeping a secret from her. Tess and Fletcher definitely have sexual chemistry, but here's another I-love-you-the-morning-after-I-met-you situation. I think I would've been happier to see them have a happy for now ending to this story. Personal choice.

None of these guys were bad and the black ties were incidental, which was fine by me. This collection was okay for what it was. The Lori Foster story about two close friends who both secretly want to become more was the most enjoyable to read of the three stories, especially since the main characters knew each other more than a day. All three stories were rather forgettable, although I did enjoy laughing at some of the inexplicable plot inconsistencies.

Three very different contemporary erotic romance novellas are found in this anthology written by authors Lori Foster, Erin McCarthy, and Morgan Leigh.
All feature a hot male, allegedly a bad boy, who clean up well. So much so that in each of them there is at least one scene where they sport a tuxedo, usually with a dangling black tie (as seen on the cover). In only one does it really play a role in the story itself (the second one written by Erin McCarthy).
The first story features a two good friends, despite reservations of ruining a good friendship, who take it to the next level and discover love.
The second story features a reluctant single mom despising and avoiding the playboy (her partner) in her workplace until her convinces to spend one night together in exchange for his transfer to another city.
The last romance features a relationship that starts with lies of omission, but quickly resolves with love nearly overnight as each discovers the truth about the other. This one seemed a bit rushed as he asks her to marry him after only a day or so of knowing her.
Some spicy scenes in each...as well as lots of green-eyed characters, hair tucking, some messy hair moments, not to mention the hot males round out the What-the-tuck trends

OMG what was my younger self thinking? How could I have given this a 5 star rating and a spot on my favorites shelf? My standards must have been really low. Or maybe I just wasn't remembering the right book and gave this rating to an impostor back then. Either way, these 3 stories were mediocre at best. I usually love Lori Foster but I just was not feeling it. The second story was the best of the bunch. I don't know. I just feel weird about this review. I don't get how I can go from 5 stars to 2. But I do know that time changes all. Obviously, it changed my feeling on this romance anthology.

I really like a lot of the Bad Boys books, and Lori Foster and Erin McCarthy are two of my favorite authors, but this one fell short of the mark for me.
Good With His Hands, by Lori Foster
Next door neighbors Pete (Watson, brother to Gil and Sam) and Cassidy are good friends, but nothing more... until Pete decides he wants to mix things up a bit. But can their friendship withstand the heat?
The sex in this one was fairly hot, but the characters were just so-so. I wasn't much moved by Pete's sudden sexual interest in Cassidy. Suddenly he started thinking about sex with her and couldn't stop. Less than a day later he 'realizes' he's in love with her. It was a lukewarm start and stayed weak throughout. Cassidy had been pining for Pete since they met, but her character just didn't impact me much. She wasn't super strong, sexy, or funny. Example: ' "You're a... a carouser." Once she said it, she warmed to the topic. "A hound dog. A hedonist. You're never going to settle down." ' Who seriously calls someone a carouser and a hound dog? A goober.

FBI agent CJ has a chance to get what she wants - her sexy partner Wyatt out of her life for good. All she has to do is agree to one night of unbridled passion with him. But when the gloves finally come off, they'll both discover far more than they bargained for.
This whole thing was a little much for me, from the silly premise to the fact that CJ and Wyatt manage to work together for so long without getting an accurate read on each other, yet manage to be really hot for each other, then after just a few hours together suddenly get each other really well. CJ is a bit of an uptight snob, and although we do learn why, I didn't feel like McCarthy did a good job of getting the reader to sympathise with her. It's not awful, but McCarthy can do better than this.

Tess Braden is new in town and she has a problem - the home she just inherited is about to be foreclosed on, and the elusive mayor refuses to grant her an appointment to plead her case. At least there's hottie Fletcher Graham to brighten her day, but what will Tess do when she finds out Fletcher's real job?
I admit, I'm not a big fan of Morgan Leigh. Romance, no matter how hot it gets, is predominantly about the love between the hero and heroine. Leigh's work tends to feel more like written porn. She will tell the reader the characters are in love, but the showing is lacking. The lack is subtle, but it's there.
Exacerbating that, in this case, is the fact that less than twenty four hours after they meet, Tess is trying to convince herself she's not in love with Fletcher, when of course she is. The pacing is all wrong, Fletcher makes assumptions about Tess that cause him to act like an ass, and the whole thing is chock full of exclamation marks and Gawd!s. In short, the writing and the storytelling are both just not up to snuff.

Overall, I enjoyed this anthology - even though the black tie was somewhat a stretch in at least 2 of the stories. It is a nice read with plenty of steamy bits and just right for picking up when you only want to read for a few minutes to relax.

Well, it wouldn't be much of a story if they didn't try. There was lots of humor and I liked the characters.
Miss Extreme Congeniality - Erin McCarthy: This was harder for me to get into as the character of CJ was so abrasive. She has her reasons but it just put me off, especially in light of the fact that Wyatt is such a nice guy. Wyatt is definitely the misunderstood hero in this story and he makes the tale much more enjoyable.
Last Call - Morgan Leigh: This was cute but there were loads of problems with this story. The romance seemed totally rushed and it was not just the short story format, although I think that that may have played a part in it. I cannot believe that two people can go from Just not happening. Other than that, I liked Tess and Fletch, although the dialogue between them was a little unrealistic (Virginia does not qualify as the deep South and having lived in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee, this is not how most of us speak - just saying).

Lori Foster's story was just simply okay. There was no real depth to the characters, but I also understand how hard it is to delve all that deeply in a short story. For what it was, entertainment, it was fine.
Erin McCarthy's story was also simply okay. I didn't care for the heroine and thought she was much too hard and unlikable...and super frigid. Maybe I just can't relate, but she just irritated me.
Morgan Leigh's story is what took a three rating and moved it down. I almost want to rate the book a one because of how bad this story is. I have no idea how this tale was published in it's current state. Was her editor on crack? Question -- if you're leaving a bar after closing at 1 am and you're in a darkened parking lot, how, might I ask, do you see that the man you're looking up at has green eyes? Now, I could almost buy this if you'd met before and you were imagining those green eyes in your mind's eye, but since the only other time you gazed at this dude was across a darkened bar when you were on stage and he was leaning on the bar. And that was just the start of a horrid story which had unbelievable characters in an unbelievable plot which was so contrived I just gave up midway through and skimmed. Even the part of the hero in a tux was just an afterthought, added to a story just to get it in this anthology. It played no real part in the story.

Good With His Hands: Lori Foster, next door neighbors Pete Watson and Cassidy McClannahan finally change from a platonic relationship to a more intimate one. Confusion abounds. She thinks she wants a guy who is normally in a suit, he's a casual kind of guy. They find a way to work it out.
Miss Extreme Congeniality: Erin McCarthy, FBI agent CJ White has plenty of personal issues but still is attracted to fellow agent Wyatt Maddock. Wyatt is interested in the standoffish and prickly CJ but it will take a lot for her to lower her tightly guarded barriers to allow him into her life and then there is the issue of her special needs son. Ends just a bit open-ended.
Last Call: Morgan Leigh, Fletcher Graham is instantly attracted to the new chanteuse in town but he has to get beyond the issues that he has not identified himself as the mayor who has been ducking her calls as well as his past traumatic experience with a wife who didn't love his town as he does. Tess Braeden is in love with her new town, now if only she can find a way to put down permanent roots...it would help if the mayor would talk to her. Ok, but not gripping.

While I enjoy a good whirlwind romance, I have a hard time accepting love at first sight stories. At least those that immediately result in marriage. All I can think is, what kind of fool agrees to marry someone he or she has known for a day or two?
Two of these stories avoided that trap, showing the shift from friendship to love; those were enjoyable. The third was harder to take, based on love at first sight and a preponderance of exclamation points.

The first two stories I liked but the last one I really didn't enjoy. I mean she "falls" in love with this guy in one day!?! Yeah I kind of don't believe that and they decide to get married right away so I kind of didn't feel the connection between both of them. At least the other stories they knew each other even if they got on each other's nerves.

I enjoyed first two steamy stories. 1) neighbors & co-workers Pete and Cassidy take their friendship to next level, 2) FBI partners CJ & Wyatt turn their animosity into hot sex, 3) singer & mayor love at first sight, lots of thoughts & unrealistic so heavily skimmed. My overall rating 3.5*

These stories were okay. I found them a bit uninspiring and uninteresting actually and the plots mostly unbelievable. Don't bother reading.

Pete Watson and Cassidy McClannahan – work as therapists at the Sport Clinic, live next condo to one another, and are friends. Pete gets a family business annuity so he has plenty of money, likes girly girls when he’s dating, and a bit of a take life as it comes attitude. Cassidy, the logical, clear thinking daughter, practical, doesn’t spend much on fashion or hair, lives by plans, and is working on saving enough and learning enough to open her own clinics. And the two are friends, hanging out together, eating together, shopping together… and Pete finds he’s not interested in other women, but that Cassidy is suddenly looking kissable… and Cassidy has been interested in kisses from him since day 1, but doesn’t let it get in the way of friendship. But they find love, sex, and friendship can all work together.

On the current case, he is posing as a CEO, she’s his backup and one to transcribe tapes etc… CJ lusts after Wyatt, but knows she is not his type – and she is a abrasive with him… and at a company party where another agent is playing his date and she’s part of the catering staff, he plays drunk and ‘sneaks’ away with the sexy agent to have access to the computers without anyone watching… and when they exit the office, the sexy agent runs into a drunk party goer who was in her sorority, and she starts to loudly ask her about her job with the FBI – Wyatt steps in, flatters her while the agent goes to the restroom, and the drunk woman starts to come onto him – and CJ wondering where they are catch him with the woman’s tongue down his throat (though it appears he’s trying to gently push her away)… she claims him, and yells at him when they get downstairs… and he kisses her; she threatens to ask for a transfer, then he challenges her – to spend one night of hot sex with him – wearing what he chooses for her – and he’ll ask for the transfer.
And she takes him up on it (she deserves a night of letting loose)… and he nervously prepares – planning a candlelight dinner, dresses in a tux, buys her a dress and sexy undies… and with a bit of awkwardness, and lots of passion, the night proceeds. There’s a bit of playing… and when he starts to make love to her, but she stays a bit too tense, holding back, he stops short of giving her an orgasm… they dance a bit, he encourages her to let loose… they go out to his patio hot tub (even though there is snow on the ground)… and he realizes he wants more than one night… and inbetween lovemaking bouts, he tells her this… they argue, he learns of her son… he tries to talk to her at work… and decides to show up at her house… and brings a gift for her (the sexy underwear) and a gift for her son (a rubber ball)… and wins her heart. Ahhh

He is now part owner of the piano bar (converted from a regular bar where there was too much drinking and too many problems), and he is mayor. Tess’s parents were drifters, and with their deaths she continued to drift, making money as a singer… but when she inherits her aunt’s home in Justice, she decides she wants to settle down. She contacts Fletcher’s co-bar owner for a job singing, and comes to town to find that there are a lot of back taxes owed and lots of repairs to be made, and no money. She’s making tentative plans to go to Vegas for a year to make money and sell her songs (she really wants to be a songwriter, but so far no contract coming her way) and pay up. She has been trying to get an appointment with the mayor, but he keeps putting her off. After being there a month, Fletcher stops by the bar and is mesmerized by her singing, feeling as if she is singing to him. And when he catches her eye, and she sees his passion she stumbles for a moment… and the co-bar owner won’t tell him much about her, but warns him to be careful… he waits for the bar to close, and meets her at her car… there’s a bit of flirting, he finds out that she owns the house (and puts it together that she’s the one he’s been ducking),and she assumes she’s the city car mechanic. She gives him a slight kiss, and ducks into her car and drives away. He shows up at her house early the next morning – to find more information, and to get to know her better, and to work on her roof… they make out a bit – and both orgasm with a dry humping… she washes his clothes… she tells him her plans to be a song writer, and stay put in Justice, but needs a year in Las Vegas to make the contacts she needs… she goes up to change, he gets on the phone to talk with his co-bar owner to get the phone number of a college friend who is a music producer, while he is trying how to tell her the truth about himself… but he overhears the end of the conversation, and kicks him out… then after throwing things, and she calms down a bit, she calls the number he wrote down, wanting to know what he was planning… and he had already contacted his friend, he’d located her tape and was working on someone to sing it… and she goes to his friend, learns a bit more about him, including where he lives… she goes to his house, where he has been moping and trying to figure out how much time he should give her… and she apologizes, he apologizes, they kiss and decide one can fall in love at first sight. ahhhh

About ten-fifteen years ago, I used to enjoy these Bad Boys collections; but either I have gotten older and more jaded, or the series have gotten worse....this book did not hit the spot....The first story was a part of the family story that I kinda remember reading and enjoying, so, maybe I had to read it about ten years ago (although it was not half bad); the second story was actually very sweet and touching (although the FBI work description was sucked out of thin air, and did not feel authentic in the least); and the third story was really underwhelming - it really fizzled after the opening scene.....all in all, good to read if you feel like reading for five minutes before going to sleep - but no great sparks....

There is just something incredibly sexy about a man in a suit. So a collection of three novellas by some of my favourite authors that feature men in suits… yeah, I’ll get on board with that! Especially on those late nights when I’m alone on the couch… yeah, don’t judge me… 😊
There is no doubt – I’m definitely going to read this short story collection again. Not just because all three novellas were amazing independently, but because they were actually amazing together as well. It was just a fantastic collection. One that reminded me what it is that made me fall in love with contemporary romance so recently…
Upon finishing this collection, I felt happy, content and just a little bit hopeful for the future. Exactly what I look for in a collection of contemporary romance short stories. Definitely one I’ll be recommending to anyone who asks!

Co-workers, friends, she's secretly lusted for him, he suddenly starts to lust for her. She's a planner, he doesn't have a plan. It's nice and simple.
Last Call by Morgan Leigh - 4
Instant fall in love romance, also instant lust. He just needs to believe she's going to stay around and she has to forgive him for not being 100% upfront with her. I think I needed a little more time for them to 'fall in love' otherwise was a nice quick read.
Miss Extreme Congeniality - 4
FBI agents, he drives her nuts. She sees him as a playboy, she dresses like Bill Cosby and he's curious what's she is hiding. Has some 'Miss Congeniality' moments. He works to find the real CJ, while she tries to keep him at bay. I might have liked it more in a full story. It was just okay for me.

Every short story, they automatically fell in love and got engaged right after the fuck, even if they only knee each other 24 hours. Meh. I like fantasy but this was downright unrealistic.

Enjoyed sneaking time to read this book. Life was getting in the way or it is one of those books you read in a sitting. Three different stories from 3 talented authors.
