Appearances can be deceiving…

Losing a loved one is never easy. Although Deliah learned to live without her parents when fate took them from her as a young girl, history repeats itself and causes her to face even greater challenges when Tess, the woman who raised her and was like a second mother to her, passes away. But even worse than dealing with her loss is the coinciding arrival of inexplicable nightmares that haunt Deliah’s nights.

She becomes consumed with images she didn’t understand and a recurrent dream about her parents’ car accident. Oddly, this dream details different versions from what she had always been told about the accident.

But when a new family, The Wates, arrive in town and begin to pay close attention to her, even stranger events follow. Now, Deliah must not only face her nightmares, but the possibility that a world she never suspected exists. And this world may cost her everything.

I received this book in exchange for for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)

Wow. What a whirl wind of a book. I did thoroughly enjoy this novel. Okay so here is a little over view:

Deliah is a quiet 17 year old girl living in a small town, struggling to get over her grandmothers death. She has a horrible relationship with her delinquent sister Annabelle, and really has no family or support other than her best friend Hayden. With terrifying nightmares that plague her every sleeping moment and strange visions, someone has it out for her. All of a sudden, the mysterious Wates family moves to town and some how they seem to know more about Deliah than she does. Especially the gorgeous Garreth, and with one look into his eyes she jumps into an adventure that she never dreamed of.

The characters were very well developed in this book, and I really loved learning about all of them and their traits. Deliah was a dynamic heroine and changed throughout the time she is with the Wates. You can definitely see how she went from being shy and scared to finding herself and her confidence. Overall she was a great main character that kept us entertained and inspired by her actions.

All I have to say about Garreth is... *Swoon*.

The world that Mezni creates is fantastic, very creative and thoughtful. My only wish for the paranormal side to this story is that it had been more clear and defined. I found myself confused at times to what "they" are and what was going on. The part that I believed to be one of the two climaxes lacked in description and explanation. For a couple chapters I didn't know what the characters were talking about.

So my only two complaints are that it was a tad slow in the beginning and the confusion. Other than that, this book was exciting, romantic, and artsy with the paranormal aspects. Great book and I can't wait for the next one!

Cheers,
Jessica

I received this book in exchange for an honest review

WARNING: This book is addicting!

Cindy Mezni's writing hoked me from the beginning and refused to let go.

The GR description is really good, so I'm not going to give a big summary. The book opens up with seventeen year old Deliah recovering from losing her beloved grandmother/guardian. The only family she has left is her older sister, who does not show her any love. Her best friend, Hayden, is the only person in her life that loves her and that she can rely on. But things soon change when Leighton, Travis, and Garreth Wates move into town. Strange things start happening to Deliah after their arrival, leaving her wondering what secrets they're hiding and how they relate to her.

The build-up had me on the edge of my seat. I love stories like this one that have me spending half the book trying to piece together all the clues - it's so suspenseful! As for the characters, Deliah is great. A strong girl who has been through hell, she never felt whiny or annoying. The other girls, Hayden and Leighton were loyal friends and genuinely nice people. Travis was an ass-hat but I couldn't hate him completely in the end. Now for Garreth. He is just amazing and very swoon-worthy. Garreth and Deliah's relationship made me laugh, cry, ball my fists, and curse at times throughout the book. I did feel like the push and pull between the pair was done really well in the beginning. It ignited a passion within me for their relationship that kept growing as the story progressed.

I cannot go on enough about the writing. This story flowed like a river and the details were incredible. I did guess what the Wates 'were' fairly quickly, but when the reveal finally happened, I was so excited about the creativity and originality of it all.

I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the second one!!!

Deliah is a 17-year-old girl who lost her parents in a car accident when she was 4 and whose grandmother has just died of a heart attack. Now, she has only her sister to take care of her until she turns 18. Unfortunately, the two can't stand each other. So while Deliah is grieving the loss of her grandmother, she starts to experience strange nightmares. Soon, a new family, the Wates, moves into town and shows extreme interest in Deliah. Why is Deliah having nightmares? Why are the new kids trying to befriend Deliah?

Deliah goes through hell. Girl rarely has a moment of peace. Her own mind drives her crazy. With the nightmares, she's often exhausted. There is no up and down, just mental madness. When she becomes kind of involved with Garreth, one of the new students, she sometimes finds happiness.

The Wates are strong characters. Unfortunately, the don't make it any easier for our heroine - even though they try.

The reveal, which happens near the end of the story, is incredibly imaginative and crazy. After the mysteries surrounding Deliah's nightmares and the Wates, I'm amazed at the truth. Wow.

Strong story I recommend to all fantasy readers.

"Shadow's Dangers" is a smart YA paranormal book that stands out from the usual romantic tales. The protagonist is an unwilling heroine, which makes her all the more appealing and her story is one that grips you from the beginning.

*looks around for book 2* Anyone know where it is?

Disclaimer-
I was given a copy of Shadow's Dangers by the author in exchange for nothing more than an honest review.

Shadow's Dangers introduces us to Deliah. Deliah has had a pretty rough life so far. Her parents died when she was young, and more recently Tess; the woman who raised her, passes away. And to make things worse she now has to contend with the nightmares that she is now suffering from. Her nightmares are full of images that she doesn't understand and they show her a version of her parents death that differs from what she was told.

Deliah has always just existed and no one takes much notice of her until the arrival of a new family; the Wates - Garreth, Travis and Leighton. If Deliah thought things were odd before their arrival, things get even weirder once they notice her. Deliah is drawn to them but her instincts tell her to run away from them too. As she gets closer to two members of the Wates family she is drawn into a world that she never knew existed. That world knows that she exists and has big plans for Deliah. So now Deliah must face her nightmares and the fact that this new world may cost her everything.

So this is the first book by Cindy Mezni that I've read, and it certainly won't be the last. I was hooked from page one! I loved Cindy Mezni's writing style, she has a great way with words which allowed me to create the scenes within my head. I could see clearly the characters and the events as they happened and as if I was alongside Deliah.

Deliah was portrayed as a normal teenager, she goes to school has her best friend Hayden, her parents were killed in a car accident when she was younger, and she has been raised with her sister Annabelle by Tess, now Tess is dead and Deliah begins to have some strange nightmares. Just a normal teen life!! That is until the appearance of the Wates family!

The Wates family consists of two teen boys and a teen girl who live with their uncle and aunt. They move just down from Deliah. There is Garreth, Travis and Leighton. There is something about the Wates that draws Deliah to them but at the same times tells her to run away from them. Leighton quickly befriends both Deliah and Hayden. Travis and Garreth seem somewhat more aloof, they don't seem to be that friendly towards anyone including each other!

The book is written in Deliah's POV and for me I found that her thoughts and feelings were portrayed in such a way that I could feel her frustration, confusion, anger and happiness too. I was able to visualise her nightmares and visions in my own mind. I must admit that if I was Deliah I'd have been confused, scared and concerned too.

After being introduced the Wates family and the freaky things that she begun to experience, I had gathered that the Wates were not normal but I didn't manage to guess what they were. I formed some ideas and thoughts about them but I was proven wrong time and time again.

For me the story got better as it progressed, I felt like I was always being given a little more but never enough to give anything away. The mystery and suspense in this story made me want to stay and keep reading, I love the way Cindy left a trail to follow and with each and every tidbit that I read I was more and more hooked. I'm really looking forward to book 2.

The characters were well thought out and played their roles well. The synopsis intrigued me and left me wanting to know more. The plot was good and pulled me in, page after page I couldn't walk away.

I must admit that until I received an email asking me if I'd like to review Shadow's Dangers I had never actually heard of Cindy Mezni. I'm glad that I received the email and have now been introduced to her because I loved this book. I will definitely be reading book 2 when it becomes available.

I think that if you love paranormal books then you should love this too

So Cindy... if you need any more reviewers for book 2 you know my email *wink, wink, nudge nudge* ;) :0

Le Dernier Espoire translates to the Last Hope, a particularly evocative and intriguing phrase hinting at good things to come. Cindy Mezni does not fail to fulfill those early indications for intrigue. In this, her first novel published in English, Mezni manages to build a world and an emotional tone that is mesmerizing as Deliah’s journey and struggles unfold before our eyes.
More than a simple YA paranormal romance, fantasy, supernatural or even coming of age story, Mezni manages to bring several elements together while revealing only the “need to know’ information, keeping readers engaged and wondering as the story unfolds.

Deliah lives in a small-ish town with her sister and grandmother: she and her sister don’t get along; in fact they are very different entirely. Since their parents died when Deliah was just a toddler, the girls have lived with their grandmother. When she, too, dies: Deliah’s troubles start to multiply. As if that wasn’t enough turmoil, a new family with three boys has moved into town, and she finds they all seem to cause some sort of reaction for her.

Leighton, Gareth and Travis Wates have come to town, and everyone is watching them. Leighton and Deliah hit it off quite well, there is a sense of protectiveness and camaraderie that the two have that broadens Deliah’s horizons and gives her a friend. Gareth, on the other hand, is someone she is attracted to yet feels she needs to run from, almost in equal measures. Deliah is young, and often I had to remind myself of that fact, several major losses in her still new existence have imbued her with a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to romantic or personal entanglements. And then there are the nightmares: waking her with questions about her parents’ deaths, leaving her with a message that she is to be the one, The Last Hope, to save the world that she knows from the world and things she didn’t believe in. Fearing for her sanity, her only respite seems to be in her friendship with Leighton, which vacillated between an overbearing approach from Leighton to a near- dependent response from Deliah.

Since so much of the story is Deliah’s, we are able to see her every feeling, thought and emotion: these tend to bounce from age-appropriate to almost adult in feel: fairly typical of her situation and age, yet there were times when the information almost felt weighty and too much. Yes, I could see the emotional turmoil, could feel it too, but there weren’t enough moments to break the onslaught of her angst. To her credit, Mezni has written a story that I can see being wholly relatable to teens and those in their early 20’s, when every emotional moment is the most important moment ever.

This story is lengthy at over 500 pages, and perhaps there were moments that could have been eliminated to the benefit of brevity, but it didn’t feel all that long to me. What I did enjoy was the lack of this jumping into a romance, giving us time to start to know the characters, and let them start to develop and unveil their layers before connections are forged. On the whole, I liked the characters and think there is much more to be revealed about them, and this story while not without a few issues that were simply an overzealous need to have the reader connect emotionally to the character of Deliah, was well worth the read and a good first installment to a promising series.

I received an eBook copy from the publisher for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Here , here , without warning, a favorite and my god it feels good ! The last date of end of last year in the supernatural register and I did not expect but not at all what I 've read . I saw a review comparing the series to a twilight (well it is true that the notice dated ) so I was a little confused by what emanated coverage . And yes , as always, I have not cracked the call summary , and even now it is, I must say that the warning is far from sufficient. Think you know the supernatural world of the fingertips , know all the clichés or other frames that are our series / favorite saga ... forget everything , Cindy Mezni will surprise you with touching characters , real , human ( others less that's for sure ) ... the universe is complex and comprehensive and it will take our heroine all the determination to get to the bottom of the story.

Let 's start Deliah is overwhelmed by the loss of his grandmother Tess occurred some time before school starts . Since it is strange nightmares. Under the responsibility of his sister by force things became his guardian against her , they mutually insupportent though related by blood and it is far from safe haven that should be a focus.

She finds her best friend who was always support and more recently, it is the only one close enough to her to trust him. So a new school year starts with a billion changes that will affect the morale of Delh . Three new arrive in class, Wates , orphans just like her triplets, who recently moved into their hometown lost Alaska. While everyone seems to be amazed by their beauty and their eyes with unusual colors , Deliah lose up under the eyes of the latter, Garreth . Taking severe headaches , it will begin to have flashes that look strangely frightening dreams that inhabit the night . Following his visit to the hospital , she will take the way home, and will be attacked by a huge black wolf and lose consciousness . The next day, on the road that leads to the school , it will be more surprises in discovering Wates ready to take the car and is very emphatically from their sister Leighton not end it assign, paralyzed at the idea of re-cross looks Garreth she can not help but to look and try to see who is behind its pace " detached from everything " , even up to his loss.

It is very difficult for me to stop my review here , I would tell you more , but I think it's better that you live the experience of the novel for yourself . I would add that says the narration at the beginning is very heavy, it was a real monologue depressed to follow, it is on the verge of crazy and believe it is because we know that this is a supernatural novel that we reassure this fact . Although I have been somewhat annoyed because it really torture the mind on some issues , we understand and fully lives his story. I was totally swept away by this wonderful story with a big romantic part, and the most reluctant , nothing but nothing to do with the Cullen family except perhaps they are not brothers / sisters !
Happy reading and discovery !

*All spoilers removed* I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Shadow's Danger by Cindy Menzi

This book had many interesting new spins. The thought behind it was very intriguing. I even enjoyed the story line and the way the author built up to dramatic events and then executed them! Almost the entire book left you wanting to know what was coming up around the next corner, well next page :).
I did however have a few concerns with this book. The first of which was several writing or wrong/missing word placement errors. At first it was a chuckle, but some of it became distracting and a little annoying. My second issue with this story was repetitiveness. While I've removed spoilers, I will use the example of "Grandma or Tess's" death (since the reader finds out she has recently passed right away). The problem with this is how often the reader is told of Tess's death or something Deliah is or is not doing because off "Tess's " death. It seems to repeated WAY too often. The reader knows it's happened and what duress it has caused. It is like this with a couple other subjects as well. I feel the book could've been shortened up simply by not requiring the reader to hear the same things over and over again. The last real issue I have is how many questions go unanswered, for the reader. Such as how is it that they can't keep the same thing from happening twice? Little things that to me should have been done differently so the reader doesn't get bored or confused.
While I loved the main male character, Deliah, the female lead was a bit if a struggle for me. She was a um basket case. While I realize she had lived through a lot, even when she didn't know what all had happened, she ran hot, cold, grumpy, sweet, mean, innocent, and bad-butt (lol) chic all at once. It left me insure what to think of our "heroine". The rest of the characters seemed well developed and relatable.
Don't let the downs totally get you down. The romance is cute, defiantly not too fast moving, if anything it leaves a little to be desired. But hey more to look forward to on the second novel. Will I read the next in series? I'm going to go with a yes for this one! There were enough questions that I'd still like to have the answers to and the largest obstacle that the book unveiled is still to come!! This novel had enough mystery and adventure to keep my reading pace swift (I really just wanted to read straight through!) and the book left me knowing enough if what's still in store that I feel I've got to keep reading. I am hoping for more editing/beta-reading in the second book...
This book defiantly is ok for YA. While it has a couple of mature references, nothing major though, the content is enough to entertain an adult but still appropriate enough for a younger reader. (I would allow my 9 year old to read, she may beef some help with some words or explanations. )

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through the Crazy for Young Adult Books group.

Delilah has lived with her aunt for years after her parents died in a car crash (little kid Delilah was the only survivor), but when her aunt passes away she has a harder time dealing. She starts having strange nightmares about the car crash that killed her parents and the details differ from what she had been told while growing up. Around the same time a mysterious family arrives in town and the three siblings attend her school. Delilah notices that they're also keeping a close eye on her and seem to cause her to see visions. The more she learns about the Wates family, the more her world grows (she learns she is the subject of an ancient prophecy to help the Wates's people - not quite aliens - destroy their enemies), but the cost of the knowledge is high.

I enjoyed the story, overall, and the world-within-a-world that Mezni has developed. I also liked seeing the characters develop the more we get to know them. The more we see, the more we understand them and their actions.

My concerns and issues, though, were primarily with the writing style and the romance angle. At times, the writing style could be very confusing to the point where I had to reread segments. Partly the dialog just didn't feel very authentic and phrasing felt off. Also there were a lot of they's, he's, she's, it's thrown around and it could be difficult to sort out who they, he, she, and it was referring to.

As for the characters, they grew on me over time, but the romance angle felt out of place. Garreth especially sent up plenty of red flags for me and Delilah makes some pretty boneheaded moves. I also wish she hadn't needed to give up all her friends for the Wates family as they become her entire life. And don't even get me started on that shower scene near the end - that was too weird and little creepy for my tastes, not romantic.

Overall, I liked it, especially the world-within-a-world building, but it did have it's issues in the writing style and romance angle. You may want to check this out if you like City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

Well, well, well, what a nice surprise this was. If you're a fan of Jennifer Armentrout's Lux series, you'll enjoy this book.

This is the story of Deliah and how her whole life was changed in a matter of months. Her grandmother recently died, her sister hates her and the nightmares that came around the same time of her grandmother's death are giving her horrible headaches. Everything gets worse when the Wates come to town, Garreth, Leighton and Travis. Garreth being hot one second and cold the next, and Travis... he's just down right mean. Leighton, on the other hand was sweet and friendly from the start. Oh, and let's not forget about the horrible visions Deliah gets every time she crosses gazes with Garreth. Yes, these people are weird, they have deep secrets and all of them seem to lead to Deliah.

This book was really, really good. I was hooked from the start. You won't get to understand everything right away... But you start forming ideas of what's happening and what are these secrets and monsters really about. I really liked the characters, they were all very, very well presented. Deliah is a shy girl, she doesn't like attention, mainly because she's gotten a lot of bad attention thanks to her scandalous sister. But she's a strong character. She won't stand anyone treating her badly or anything. Then we have Garreth... Oh I liked him! He first starts being this mean guy.. but as Deliah starts to get to know him... She starts seeing another side of him, a nicer side. A side she starts to like. He has some sweet gestures and he'll do anything to protect those he loves. Leighton.. She's a nice strong girl too. She's the one who knows how to calm the people around her and get everything done right. Travis, well he's full of surprises, I'll tell you that.

This is a really good story, and like my BBS said, it also reminded me of The Mortal Instruments series, but it was more like the Lux series to me. I loved Garreth and Deliah's relationship. He'll do anything to protect her and so will she. He's sweet to her and you know he loves her. I really hope there's going to be a second book. There's no way this story is ending like this.

**I received a free copy for an honest review**

Deliah is 17 years-old normal girl, strait-A student. She lost her parent when she was 4 years old in a tragic car accident. After that she goes to lives with her grandmother Tess in a little town in Alaska. She has a sister with a bad reputation – Annabelle- and a great best-friend Hayden. She was always criticized in the little town where she lives due to the reputation of his sister and the weird way of her grandmother.

The story starts two weeks after Tess’s death, which has Deliah devastated, losing her mind because of some horrible nightmares and with no other option but to live with Annabelle, the sister who she fights with almost every day. In school she meets The Wates, the new family who arrived to town. After looking in the eye to one of the new boys in, Garreth, she gets panicked and knows there something wrong, because she suddenly feels the need to get as far away from him as she can. She just knows that there’s something not normal but blames her own mind, thinking is the fear of the nightmares that has her delusional.

I have to admit that the story was really interesting; it got my attention from the first’s chapters. I really ended up enjoying the book. The characters I liked are Deliah, Leighton, Hayden and Garreth (but not in the first 7 chapters). I liked the idea of Vergashae and the Enimae, creatures that could change forms. I loved the explanation about some myths creatures and the magical book with the stories, I thought it was cool.

What exasperated me was the lack of more information about the prophecy. I needed to know more about it, because for me it felt like they chose Deliah randomly without an explanation as why they thought it was Deliah the one with the power to end the war. Again for me it felt soo randomly. Another thing that bothered me was Garreth at the beginning of the book. There were parts where he was just so rude. But thankfully he changed and at the end of the book I ended up really liking it.

Anyway, I think the whole book was really good, I’m glad I had the opportunity to read it.

I received this book to give an honest review.

So at times I was a bit confused as to what exactly was going on within the story. Deliah is a teenage girl who has had tragedy hit her when she was young only to have the person that ended up raising her dye on her later on. So I could feel the emotion that Deliah was going through. On that note, Deliah's sister hates her and I felt as though the author could have elaborated more on this. We get a bit of why there is a hostility between the girls but you don't get the core of why her sister is just plain rude and mean to her. It seem to take forever to figure out all what was going on with Deliah and what the Wates had to do with anything. They wanted to give her information but couldn't, now I don't like to have all information up front but I do like to have clues dropped more than what was dropped within this story.

Deliah is the girl that is the talk of the town even though she doesn't want to be. So when three new students come to school and befriend Deliah she isn't sure why. But that is when her whole world goes upside down. She is seeing wolfs or dogs, not sure what you want to call them, and crows. She has dreams that feel so real that at times she feels as though she is losing her mind and I don't blame her.

The three siblings are something different and I really didn't truly understand what they were exactly. You have Leighton who is just this chippy person, that at times I wanted to be like calm it down sister! Travis who is dark and gives off this bad boy persona, and Garreth who seems to be a good guy all around and wants to protect Deliah from the evil that will be coming for her sooner or later.

This is a long book there is crushes, paranormal, action and a bit more. Decent read, I do believe I would read book two as I want to know more about the world the Wates are from, and will Deliah fulfill what she is suppose to.

I was completely held prisoner by this outstanding book! It's content and storyline surpassed anything I have read for a while. The detail and the way it is written leaves nothing out and has an amazing ability to place you in each scene. This takes paranormal to a whole new level and Cindy Mezni has produced a superb story!

The story begins with a young girl Deliah Morgan who was orphaned as a young child and was raised by her grandmother, her older sister also lives with them but despises Deliah with a passion and in return Deliah doesn't like her. After the unexpected death of her grandmother, Deliah is trying to move forward and fit back into the society that has never really accepted her or her family. Her bestfriend Hayden is a rock to her and tried to help her out of her grief.

On the first day back to school Deliah learns there are new arrivals to the town and for some reason Deliah thinks they are rather familiar. Deliah soon realises that everything isnt as it seems and also begins to suffer terrifying episodes that has her reaching out to the people she fears the most in the hope they can help her to unravel the secrets of her past and forge a plan to save her future.

This book really draws you in and I found myself unable to put it down as I needed to see if Deliah had found answers, has she uncovered the truth, what is the truth? What is the deal with the strange newcomers? Will her friendships last through the difficult situations she finds her self in?

I now know all the answers and they were totally unexpected! This book had me shouting at my kindle and tearing up soon after!

So I am now left with a book hangover and desperate to know what happens next. If you like paranormal you MUST read this book!

This book is about a girl named Deliah. She hasn’t had a pleasant childhood. Her parents died when she was only a couple years old. She then lived with her grandmother and sister. Her sister and she don’t get along at all. Her sister has a colorful reputation in their small town. She really only has one friend at school. Just a few months ago her grandmother pasted away. School has started back up and she does all she can to stay under the radar at school. A new group of siblings has moved into town. Leighton, Travis, and Garreth Wates. Leighton is great to Delilah and they become fast friends. The boys on the other hand not so much. Whenever she is near Garreth she has this feeling like she wants to be closer to him and run away from him at the same time. Ever since she meet the Wates she has started to have these horribly strange dreams and keeps getting these horrible migraines. Are the Wates somehow connected to her dreams and headaches? Why does she feel like this around Garreth? She isn’t sure why Leighton wants to hang out with her when everyone else purposely stays away from her.

I liked this book a lot. It was different. She spends most of the book thinking she is going crazy because of these dreams. The characters where very engaging. It was very well written. It is the first book in the series and can’t wait to read the others in the series. Through the first part of the book I kept having the feeling that we were building up to something and I was not let down when it finally happened. There were lots of twist and turns. Very interesting story.

Ok, it has been a while since i have read a paranormal book, even longer since i have read a paranormal young adult book. So when i read Shadow's Danger i was sucked right in, not only because it had been such a long time since i had read this genre but because of the story. It is young adult paranormal, but it is so much more than that, Deliah has suffered and is still dealing with a fractured family existence. She has her best friend but she just does not know how to act around everyone after what she has experienced, she really does have no -ne to talk to, and who can relate with what she has experienced. The arrival of the Wates family cause Delilah to have interactions with people who stir emotions that have been dorment for so long. There is a lot of action in this book, it really never lets up, and at times it keeps you on a knife edge as those characters you thought you are trusting could cause you to doubt yourself. This story is not just paranormal it simmers with the romantic tension and action and then explodes in a flash leaving your mind whirling from what has happened. I love the language the characters use as well, at times its just like every other teenager, but the the conversations between Garreth and Deliah seem so much more profound and interesting especially as we learn more about their characters. I will most certainly be revisiting the paranormal genre after reading Shadow's Danger, Cindy Mezni has reignited that flame for how stories are not as helmed in by reality and therefore can explore new avenues of storytelling, while still including the action and romance side of stories that i love.

When I asked to review this book, I agreed for the two reasons one it's in the genre I love and two the unique premise of the story. Normally I could figure out just what kind of supernatural being is featured at the beginning but not with this book. I found myself being pulled into the mystery of what exactly was Garreth and his family. All kinds of theories were bounced around in my head and none came even close to what they actually were. This made this book such a fun read for me. It kept me guessing all the way to the end. I had to force myself to put it down and even when I did I found myself still thinking about what could this family be?

I loved the fact as well, this was written in Deliah's POV, I could really feel her pain , frustration and confusion as to all the events that happened in her life. And if I was her I definitely could understand her confusion to all visions and recurring nightmares she was having. I could also understand her hatred for her sister, Anna , she made me want to reach in the book and slap her myself for the way she treated Deliah. I am still holding out hope in the future book or books that this relationship can be repaired somehow.

Overall I loved this book, loved the fact I felt like a detective trying to solve the mystery and in the end I still didn't end up guessing what this family was. It's such a unique paranormal twist that I think most of you that love paranormal books will find this book fascinating. I know I surely did.

Delilah lost her grandmother and she feels sad, lost and alone. Her grandmother was her guardian since her parents died when she was only 4. Her only friend Hayden is a true friend but after her recent tragedy, Delilah feels disconnected from everyone and everything. A new school year starts and the girls begin their junior year reluctantly. Then comes in three new siblings in town. They are mysterious and Delilah struggles with her feelings for them. Travis is just scary. Leighton is beautiful and seems like she wants to be her new BFF after only one day and Delilah is trying to decide how she feels about that. And then there’s Garreth. he’s undeniably gorgeous and Delilah feels torn between her attraction to him and her strange compulsion to run away whenever he’s around. Who are they and why are they here. Delilah knows there’s more to their story and is determined to find out. But what she learns is more than she bargains for.
This book frustrated the heck out of me. I felt like they kept drawing it out and kept Delilah in the dark about who the siblings really were. It felt a lot like Twilight in the beginning though the details are definitely different. Even though I struggled with frustration with this book I still liked the story. I felt sorry for Delilah and how she was thrust into her situation after she finally found out all the details.
I read this one quickly and though it was long and frustrating at times, I give this one 4 stars. I hope she writes more on this story.

I'm not a big fan of this genre, but the mystery and suspense of not knowing where the story was heading kept me reading. Deliah has had a lot of losses and is left with a lot of unanswered questions about her scary dreams, a prophecy, the Wates, her parents' deaths, and more. Whom can she trust? When the truth is revealed about the Wates and what they really are, I thought thank goodness they are not vampires. The romance between Deliah and Garreth grows despite mistrust and distrust. Garreth is hot! No sex scenes, though some nudity and kissing.

I was a bit slow to warm up to this because it reminded me of similar stories. However, as it continued, I gained genuine interest and found myself getting involved in the story. The book that Deliah is given has The Mermaid and the Fisherman story animated and uniquely told as she gets 'splashed by Anne'. "I could have sworn Anne had an indignant expression on her face and had sent me an obscene gesture before the book closed on her." The fairytales, as explained here, take on a new, deeper, and more haunting meaning. Leighton felt the book had hidden meaning for Deliah as an aid for the battle ahead.

It's ends with questions unanswered, and a destiny not yet fulfilled. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series and where this author will lead us.

I got this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I was asked to read this book by a new to me author. WOW - I am definitely a fan of Cindy Mezni now!!!

When I started this book, I had no idea what to expect. With not having read any of Cindy's books before this one, it was like pulling something out of the hat to read. I was told what type book it was but that was all.
The first chapter seemed to be a little slow at first - but when I realized all that went on during that first chapter, I realized why!! The way that Cindy describes items and tries to open up more of what is happening but doesn't give away any more than she has to at that time simply amazes me. There are things that I sort of suspected might be going on - only to find out that I had guessed wrong and it turned out totally different. Cindy had me second guesses myself all the way to the last chapter!! This definitely proved to be a book that you could not read excessively fast - - BUT, it was one that you didn't want to put down until you were at the end.

I am looking forward to reading more of her "The Last Hope" series and more of other books that she writes.

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review!

Mezni has created a world unlike any other!

To say that this novel is unique would be an understatement. The author has blended several genres into a mystical tale that’s both creative and enchanting. My mind raced for an explanation as the author revealed only the necessities, which caused my anticipation to skyrocket! Deliah’s an endearing character, with a heart of gold, and Garreth is an enigma in which I enjoyed learning about.

There may be a few controversial responses about certain areas of this novel, but paying attention to the detailed narrative may clear up most of them. I don’t know whether the author is going to give another POV in the next installment, but she’s done a wonderful job of introducing Deliah. You get to know this heroine’s every thought, response, and feeling. Admittedly, there were a few times that I had to remind myself of her age, due to her lack of judgment. The story line is different and quite enjoyable, and the creative factor is incredible. There were questions left unanswered, but I was given enough to satisfy my curiosity, for now. I’m intrigued and I’ll definitely follow this series.

Shadow's Dangers

Cindy Mezni

4 Stars

I really enjoyed Shadow's Danger! There were parts that brought me back to reading two of my favorite series (The Mortal Instruments and The Lux Series). I was really missing a good paranormal read and this was perfect.

This is the story of Deliah, a shy high schooler who lost her parents at a young age, and more recently, her grandmother. Deliah's life starts going haywire when the new family arrives in town, the Wates. Leighton, Garreth, and Travis instantly shake things up for her and she's curious to why.

This book was such a mystery! I was constantly guessing and coming up with my own theories (none of which were correct haha). You can't help but to be intrigued.

I loved all the twists and turns. Throughout the entire book, there was always MORE! Something new. Something that made the story that much better.

I would definitely recommend this to all the paranormal lovers. I'm still not sure if it's a standalone or if there will be more but if there will be, I'll be reading :)

Deliah lost her parents at a young age. Now at 17, she has lost Tess, her grandmother. It is at this time that she begins to have nightmares about her parents’ accident. However, the dream differs from the account she has always been told. A new family, the Wates, have moved to town and seem to be very interested in her only adding to her confusion.

This is a new twist on your usual paranormal romance saga. The author has created an unlikely heroine in Deliah. She also keeps you guessing throughout the entire book just who side each character is on. You don’t know who to trust and just when you think you know who all the players are and which side they fight for, the author throws in a new twist making you rethink everything. Now do not think that this makes for a confusing story because that is not the case. She intertwines multiple engaging plot twists to make for an intriguing story.

I look forward to continuing the saga with author Cindy Menzi.

Shadow's Dangers by Cindy Mezni (English Edition) was published December 24th by Evatopia Press. Les Dangers de l'Ombre (French Edition) was published November 30, 2013.

"Losing a loved one is never easy."- Back Cover
Deliah doesn't remember anything about her parents. She only ever had two people in her life: her best friend, Hayden, and her grandmother, Tess. Her sister hates her, the whole school thinks she's crazy, she has horrible nightmares every night, and she faints every time she looks at the new guy. To top all that off her parent's murderers are out to kill her too. With her life she thinks her life falling apart she doesn't think it could get any worse, but boy was she wrong.

What I Did Like:
Deliah, Ending, Garreth, Leighton, Originality, Romance, Travis

What I Didn't Like:
Nothing, I loved the whole book.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Where do I start? This is the very first book in a very longtime that I have given 5 stars too. The characters are fantastic, the plot in this, is fantastic. The story just flows like a river, with nothing stopping it. I loved this book. I even loved the ending where you know for a fact that there is going to be a book two, but the best part about this book?? Was that I got emotionally invested in these characters. I CAN'T WAIT to get my hands on book 2 ( seriously hurry up and write it! ) I can't sing the praises enough for this novel/series. It was that good.

Thank you so much for allowing me to read this, it was a highlight in my week, I had to force myself to put it down, so that I didn't digest it in just one sitting. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
