About the author

Colleen Doran is an American writer-artist and cartoonist. She illustrated hundreds of comics, graphic novels, books and magazines, including the autobiographical graphic novel of Marvel Comics editor and writer Stan Lee entitled Amazing Fantastic Incredible Stan Lee, which became a New York Times bestseller. She adapted and did the art for the short story "Troll Bridge" by Neil Gaiman, which also became a New York Times bestseller. Her books have received Eisner, Harvey, Bram Stoker, and International Horror Guild Awards.

A fresh, interesting and original comic series based on the hit tv series, Vampire Diaries. With alternative story-lines, great artwork and introducing brand new characters, what's not to love?


Of course it works more as a companion, you definitely need to be a VD fan in order to know what's going on but that wasn't a problem for me. The dialogue is genuine and close to the character's nature, even though the length of this installment is too small to be sure of that, only 23 pages, but still it's a good sample.


In this story the Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan, make a pact with a witch in order to keep Mystic Falls vervain-free but in nowadays the pact isn't working for them anymore and they have to renegotiate. The witch wants immortality and Damon to extinguish vervain all over the world...what can go wrong with such a plan?

- The artwork is great and the characters look exactly like the real ones. The illustrator did an amazing job.
- Not a comic version of the show, this is new material.

I actually read this book online. I watched the movies to. But i rate this book five stars because I like reading about drama and especially vampires, this book is mostly about ellana being in love with two people Damon, Stephan. This book suprised me when ellana just met Stephan and a few days later they start to date. Then Stephens brother damon was stuck on Kathrine back 162 years ago the one who turned Damon and Stephan. But plot twist ellana is a doubleganger. Kathrine looks exactly like ellana. But anyways, why i think someone should read this book ? Its just a really good book and I really like drama but if you dont like drama dont read it than lol. would I change anything in the book? nope.

Good as a companion to the TV show. Each storyline is a little snippet, either into the past, focus on a side character, or just a quick short. This particular story was an interesting look at how Stephan and Damon got rid of the vervain in Mystic Falls and a fun story about when they actually cooperated with one another.

Great start to a comic series.

Sadly the price and the book only being 24 pages is what's earning this a three star review. I very much enjoyed the story, the artwork. I am a huge fan of the show, and the books that spawned the show. I was hoping that these comic books would be a satisfying and economical read. They are satisfying, but far from economical. YMI being charged $1.03 for only 24 pages? Is it the publisher? Is it Amazon? Well, no matter who it is it's it's wrong. In this day and age if you treat your readers right they will reward you by buying your books. If you tried to rip them off and play games with their money they will not buy your books. This is why people pirate. Today's economic status makes it very hard for people to find extra money to buy fun things such as these little comics. People work very hard for their money so they want to get their money's worth. Why not combine the volumes that make up one story into one book and sell it for a fair price?

Caught between a new love triangle with Stefan and Damon and this new unseen world of vampires, Elena must learn to navigate and stay out of trouble. I absolutely loved this book, with the romance and the drama I was never bored reading it. I would definitely recommend this book, I loved every page and continued to read all the books in the series. 🖤🖤

I read this on Comixology, and it was much harder to follow as a story broken up into three parts. I liked it much better all collected in a comic in one piece. This has all the snarky dialogue I enjoy from the show, and I thought the art was really good. The characters look a lot like they do on the show. The story is about a witch who wants to be immortal, and how he casts a spell using vervain to make it happen. The spell is in exchange for making the vervain banish from Mystic Falls. But the witch must keep a pact with the Salvatore brothers and they decide to break the pact. The ending is twisted and dark and funny.

I know I would have liked this book so much more if I hadn't watch the series first. Not because I know what is going to about, because the characters are so different in looks and the way they act, its hard to get the picture right in your head.
