Centorea's got a problem--a big problem, with eight legs and a web-slinger! It seems Rachnera, the shady spider-woman, wasn't content with stringing up Kasegi (who totally deserved it) and now she wants to trap Kimihito in her lascivious snare! Will the noble centaur save her master from the claws of the Arachne, or will Centorea find herself caught in Rachnera's tangled web?
With a house full of beautiful, sexy monster girls who all want to jump him, regular guy (and virgin!) Kimhito has to stay on his toes--because giving in to their advances is against the law! But each new addition to the household ups the ante. See what new twists and turn-ons await our hero in the latest uproarious installment of Monster Musume!
I love that each of the girls have their own personalities. It does have some story and heart to it by the way. Is it very fanservice-y? Yes. And I like it. I am not apologizing.
On that note I am terrified of real life spiders but Rachnera now ...
My man over here making Touhou and Metal Gear Solid references. Papi using Suu to create a cosplay of Utsuho, and Miia as Snake with Rachnera as The Boss.
Rachnera's basically Best Girl, at least so far. The translation kinda fucks me up because she's always saying "oh my" which it's clear the original would be the "ara ara" of milf-type characters, and it feels like why the fuck translate it. But at least they use "Rachnee-chan" instead of something stupid like "Big Sis Rachnera" which would rape the pun. Same deal as Miia and Mero, I don't exactly get why Rachnera needs a human ass in addition to her spider abdomen, but whatever. OKAYADO has the basic thing he does where tits and asses aren't really discernible between girls. Like, Cerea obviously has the biggest boobs, but the same is roughly the same as the slightly-smaller Rachnera and Miia. If anyone's ass is going to be focused on, it will likely be Papi's, so not much is explicitly gained by Rachnera's being visible (though I won't criticize it lol).
The first chapter is kinda weird because it attempts seriousness with Rachnera as teased at the end of Vol. 3. It doesn't take long at all to slip back into ecchi/harem hijinks, so the brief attempt at drama (following up the shady documentary director from earlier) seems unnecessary. Rachnera's teasing of Kimihito is pretty great, though, so the ecchi makes up for the drama's flop.
Some good ecchi in the last chapter, when Kimihito is ostensibly on a date with Smith-san, and all the girls are trying to spy on them using Suu's transformation ability to cosplay as maids, waitresses, &c. Mero and Papi are soon decommissioned when Suu accidentally makes them cum so hard they pass out, more or less. It's especially funny with Papi for whom Suu is acting as humanoid arms, so Papi drops her cell phone down her shirt while the Suu-arms try to fumble among the Suu-tits, somehow ending up squeezing Papi's own ass (there's a good closeup in a large-ish panel) while the phone falls into/near Papi's panties right as Miia tries to call the phone. The phone is set to vibrate, so you can imagine the drooling "ahegao" face Papi makes as a result.
This series just got better. The stories aren't too connected this time, but very fun. The household keeps getting bigger, the new monster girls are weird. Or, even weirder...
I cannot believe this crap is getting Goodreads scores in the 4s! Is the author the only reviewer? Anyway, I'm half way through this torturous journey: four down and four to go.
Its quite fun and enjoyable. Nw to me but amusing plot and yes you can see the fans are being serviced with the 'art' but the story line and charcaters are really well put together.
Just like any of the other books in this series if you are bothered by harem style books and fan service in manga then you should probably avoid this series. After all the main male character is destined to marry one of the monster girls residing in his home and the beginning of this book is a full color chapter about the various monster girls trying on a variety of bras.
One thing I like about this series is how each chapter is its own little story in this relatively simple manga mixed with humor and monster girl high jinx. Here is a quick hopefully not to spoiler rich review for all of you. Chapter 15 we find Kimihito is missing and we discover he is a "guest" of Rachnera the spider woman who has a taste for bondage play. Chapter 16 deals with Centorea and her struggle over her beliefs about the new girl Rachnera. Chapter 17 involves some of the girls deciding to join a gym of liminals such as themselves. Be ready as you experience a race for love. Finally Chapter 18 finds the girls nervous about Kimihito leaving without any of them when it was common for him to usually take one of them along with them. The girls use their unique skills to discover the truth and yet it seems there is a new mystery is unveiled to make us want the next book as soon as you can get it. :)
My favorite part of the book would have to be when Rachnera comes to the rescue of Centorea and Kimihito after the two of them escaped her overly affectionate advances. Each character has a certain personality and friendliness/adversarity with one another that makes Harem animes interesting. :)
One of the most original and exciting manga of the 2010's, Monster Musume is a refreshing and enjoyable take on the monster girl genre of Japan. A warning, this series is definitely for people over the age of 18, as there is a lot of nudity and sexual situations that parents may find unsettling in the story. In the not to distant future, a race called liminals, creatures who are half human and half animal, has made contact with the human race and initiate a cultural exchange, to allow liminals to experience and integrate into human society. One such liminal, Mia, a lamia, is accidentally placed with a hapless human student named Kimihito, and decides to remain with him as both a student and a love interest. During the course of the series, we meet, among other things, a harpy, a centaur, a mermaid, and many more monster girls who fall for Kimihito and wish to win him anyway possible. I would encourage this for all adult fans who enjoy comedy manga, harem manga and slice of life stories.
A-rach-ne! A-rach-ne! A-rach-ne! Who would knew that we, the readers, will be soooooooo spoiled by the author! Because here comes the spider... a BSDM-loving Arachne who only cares to test her skills in restraining different monsters. I love her. I simply do. My number one, sorry Miia, Mero, Arachne is the best ★★★
I thought this one was a great one in the series. I loved the new character however at the same time I found the swimming story to be rather choppy and boring quite frankly.
The story of mero is very good I like how now she is falling in love. And now the plot is getting a little more interesting, but well still a lot of fanservice.
