I'm a masturbation expert (true story, I'm single) and I write unique stories. If you're looking for a plot that hasn't been done before check out my books. I currently write m/m but one day I'll venture into m/m/f territory. I'm bi-sexual. I love animals and I've always wanted to paint nude men. Feel free to friend me on Facebook or Goodreads.

**I get so many emails from people who are surprised I read hetero when I’m gay. Well, I’m actually bi and yes, I read many genres. Reading to me is an escape. I’m not at work, staring out the window wondering what the sun would feel like on my face. I’m reading about another world, up in space, vampire or shifters, even just another place on this planet. Hetero, gay, bi, whatever. All that matters to me is the effort that was put into a story and how the characters work to entertain me. **

I need urgently a new shelf!

Because I don't have any appropriate for it!

My future new shelf has to contain books that are:

* HOT. VERY HOT.

* particularly suitable for some lonesome private hours with ourselves

* have an enjoyable witty writing style

* have an interesting plot that in spite of emphasis on the very graphical and detailed sex scenes does not refer to porn.

I think I just discovered a new, very interesting erotica writer, James Cox, and I'm going to get in closer touch with his books.

P.S Oh, Smithy, what would I have done without you!

What a brilliantly-imaginative..filthy f'ing writer. Female m/m writers should really study this kind of male-gendered writing. As Cox convincingly demonstrates..men really are the best educative material on the mechanics of a good m/m f'ing. Male writers have that certain slice of something crucial into the sexual dynamics of the male personality.

This was amusingly entertaining and stimulating..with an ultra-modern ultra-sexed James-Bond-on-viagra sort of character/assassin. The dude's cock defied gravity 24/7..with his pretty bad-ass cock-infused ways and fuck-efficient machines.

I slapped the red button on the wall. Beside my modest bed with ruffled sheets came a long hollow tube. I grabbed my cock, stroking the shaft slowly, and enjoyed the wasps of pleasure that swept up my spine. Inside that tube was lube and a steady warm temperature to mimic the human body. The walls were modified gel packs that would fit my cock like a glove. I’ve used it many times over the years. That damn sex toy was my only steady friend.

Cox's writing has an entertaining voice that oozes personality and a strong masculine presence. The cohesively-clever writing pulls the reader in..with a sort-of magnetic charm.

And I can't say much in the way of these character's names, but their porno moves were f'ing visionary.

1.5* rounded up, for the moment. I'm still considering rounding down though.

I have to preface this with that there are quite a few male writers writing LGBT/gay and m/m fiction, romance and erotica who I adore. Among them several I'd consider hardcore porn authors e.g. Hugh Masters, Christopher Pierce or Brad Vance, and others like for instance Todd Young, Theo Fenraven or Edmond Manning, who I regard highly as writers of gay romance and gay fiction. So it's not as if I disliked distinctly male voices. On the contrary, which is why I jumped on this when it was reviewed as a fresh and very male voice.

Unfortunately I wasn't bowled over.

The first issue is the truly atrocious copy-editing, which includes numerous spelling and punctuation errors. What's worse, there are many grammar problems including tense hopping mid-paragraph as well. When a reader is asked to shell out $3.99 for not even 30k, then I expect a cleanly edited book. However, I quickly lost count of the errors.

I might have forgiven that, had there been an engaging prose and plot. Or, well, at least some erotic sex scenes. Instead I counted at least as many (if not more) mentions of "cocks", "pricks" and "erections" of the MC as there were "inner Goddesses" to Ana in FSoG. That came over as needy, insecure (as in the opposite of self-assured), juvenile (not in a good sense), repetitive and it quickly bored me to tears. The sex itself was formulaic and equally as boring. There certainly was nothing erotic to it, it felt more like bad porn. It might have been deemed funny, had he suffered from priapism. As it was, it was obviously just a case of wishful thinking.

At that point I was down to 2.5* or thereabouts. What killed most every ounce of sympathy for the narrator, and in consequence for this book, were the disrespect and a general negative attitude pouring from his every pore. This was quite simply vile, and it was the third strike against this novella.

In the end it didn't even matter, because this failed me already regarding the more important aspects for an erotic/porny story. Not able to recommend, but read other reviews--there are people who like this story.

I won this in a contest but I don't let that affect my rating. Books are judged on their own merit.

Rylan reminded me of D in Zero at the Bone (Zero at the Bone, #1) by Jane Seville in that they had to have valid reasons for why they'd take a contract kill job. He narrates and once he's accepted the job, he'll pretty much do anything to complete it. He's been living this life for a long time and likes living lone wolf.

That all changes when he accepts a job and finds himself attracted to the man who contracted him and the assignment's son. That is unprecedented and Rylan is distracted while he tries to complete his mission and try to slip away quietly into the night.

This was a fun, hot, sexy read with just enough action not to bore me. Thanks James!

Sigh.

I really liked this book. I did.

Until the very end it was a solid four star book for me.

Well and then it wasn’t.

The sex scenes were great however, one of the greatest I’ve ever read.

So... yeah...

Assassins can be fascinating people, and Rylan, the narrator of this story, pulled me in from the beginning. Partly that was due to the expert way he used his sexual appeal to draw in his "victim", but partly it was the clearly "moral" reasons for why he wanted the man who was his target dead. It reminded me that morality, after all, is in the eye of the beholder. While that was not the focus of this book, the assassin himself summarizes his own morals early on: "If I was going to take a life, it was going to be because the fucker deserved to die not because he pissed off the wrong people." Well, that answered all my slightly worried questions, and I gleefully focused on the fun and sexiness of the story.

Rylan is more than a little arrogant, very sure of his talents both as an assassin and as a lover. He is always alone, but he doesn’t seem to mind. Until he meets two men while he is on an assignment, and everything changes. Not That Rylan notices or admits this right away, for him it's still all about the fun he can have with a few very hot threesomes. Intermingled with all this, ahem, activity he still attempts to fulfill his mission, believing that is all his life is about. But vanishing "quietly into the night" is suddenly a lot less attractive than it used to be…

Gold and Loxy are not all they seem. Not to the same degree as Rylan, who is a master at hiding his true identity, but they each have their secrets and hidden agendas. Rylan discovers Loxy's early on, but Gold's are a little more difficult to decipher. Not that they spend much time in serious discussion, trying out the various toys on Rylan's space ship takes precedence and good times are had by all.

If you like space operas and daring adventures, if you enjoy reading about men who walk into danger while thinking about sex, and if you're looking for a read that is filled with daring escapes, hot activity inside and outside the bedroom, and a touch of emotion to top it all off, then you will probably like this novella.

Oh James Cox, your sentences and your heroes never let me down and Rylan is no exception.

When a dancer approaches Rylan while he is undercover and asks, “May I please you sir?” and I get:

“I gave a quick jerk of my head. Hey, I had to fit in and this erection was driving me insane. So, two issues for one warm, wet mouth.”

I smile ridiculously and continue on in the fun place that is Rylan’s brain. His inner dialog and subtle self-deprecation is amusing as all hell.

Rylan was a trained assassin. He completed every mission and walked away with credits and pride in a job well done. He was picky about what jobs he would take. He didn’t kill just to kill, the asshole had to deserve it.

When he takes on the most dangerous job to date, his mark is known for his above average security measures, thing is Rylan’s are better and it was fun reading about his technology hacks to get around every block in place. I love this kind of fun scifi. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it’s not patronizing either.

Rylan’s only downfall is the two men he meets on this assignment, Loxy and Gold. He’s got a soft spot and a hard cock for both of them and a constant boner in pantaloons can cloud one’s judgment a smidge. I have to mention how much Rylan hates the disguise he has to wear on this assignment, he HATES the ruffles which was entirely amusing but gave the story a bit of a regency air that is a fun contrast to read with a badass assassin. Plus, a tent in the pantaloons is a fun visual.

A few twists and turns in the story kept the pace going and the mystery and old fashioned heroism of Rylan are a fun break from reality and angst. I loved that Rylan was thrown and distracted by Loxy and Gold too and seeing him a little flummoxed when a twist came along made me like him even more.

“Shit, now I was questioning his truthfulness and my ability to read hot blond men.”

Since that is obviously a skill all trained assassins should have, at least one Rylan thinks he should have. There is really nothing sexier than a hero with some real world flaws and Rylan is just that.

A completely fun read, loved it!

To start with..if you would have asked me before this book, if science fiction, space ships, futuristic world...Could be so sexy, I would have laughed at you. Let me tell you Mr. Cox (love the name by the way) made a believer out of me. He has a way with words amusingly entertaining, stimulating...true erotica writer that makes you feel like you could close your eyes and see what's happening hear the sounds almost like your there with them.

The best James Cox book I've read yet. There was a real story with a fairly well developed main character. Interesting secondary characters rounded this short pearl out well. The sex was hot and the menage of Rylan, Gold and Loxy was signature Cox.

Well written, VERY sexy futuristic tale from James Cox about Rylan, assassin supreme and his adventures flying about the galaxy. 4 stars from me, and a big thank you to Barney whose review persuaded me to buy this one.

The story opens with Rylan doing an extremely sexy dance for the King of a planet he has been paid to kill, reeling him in and doing the job, after which he flies to a planet called Juniper, which has been populated by a load of rich snobs just after Earth's collapse. The President is a security conscious freak, mindful of the fact that there are many on the planet who wish him dead, mainly those whose relatives have been shipped to the mines on the planet.

Rylan, whose only company is his right hand and the 'tube', a futuristic version of a fleshjack (and my God, that was hot!!) has been employed to kill the President by person/persons unknown. He makes contact with Loxy, a government official and the attraction between the two of them is instant....as is the attraction Rylan also feels for Gold, a high ranking official and it would appear that that too is reciprocated.

I'll leave this review here as this Goodreads app has already lost one review tonight. My only quibble with this was with some of the editing, and the use of words that made no sense whatsoever i.e. fluxed instead of flummoxed, complacent instead of satisfied, expectations instead of exceptions and confront instead of comfort....other than that, a very enjoyable read. Thanks James.

OK... I am going to have to check a few reviews when I get finished with mine because that whole "going into kill the leader and BAM there are my two men" thing just didn't work for me! Like how the heck did Gold's father find them? How were they in Rylan's bed when he left to go straight to kill the leader and when he get's there (explosion detonates in 10 minutes) they are already there and have been roughed up... grrr

Anyways, huge plot hole aside... I loved this story! Rylan ticked off every one of my "love assassin" buttons and Gold is just so adorable and innocent and WOW, Loxy was just the perfect third for them!!! Although, I felt like the leader got off easy... but I loved the fact that the guys were there for Rylan when he was in trouble like he was there for them... now that's true love! *grin*

Review written for MM Good Book Reviews

Rylan is an assassin, a very good assassin, he always gets his targets as long as they deserve the punishment. His new assignment isn't going to be easy, getting to a man who is paranoid about security will be a challenge, but when Rylan meets Gold and Loxy he is determined to take out the Leader even if he dies trying.

This is a great science fiction, erotica story that is entertaining, has action and is sexy. Rylan is alone, it's just him and his ship, having friends or relationships is impossible in his line of work as an assassin but he doesn't let it get to him. When he takes on his latest assignment he gets a lot more than he bargained for and he finally loses his heart. But he is a killer and can't let his new loves be tainted by his job. Gold is sweet and beautiful he's had a crush on Loxy for ages but has never been allowed to act on it, meeting Rylan gives Gold the push to finally act on his desire. Loxy spends the night with Rylan and finds himself in major trouble, Rylan comes rushing to the rescue and Loxy finally finds the happiness he wanted with Gold and Rylan.

This is a great little lovefest with danger, escapes and rescues littering the story. Rylan is a great character who loves what he does, Gold seems like a shy standoffish character until you learn his background and Loxy is slightly sneaky but with good intentions. All the characters are great and extremely sexual, one again James Cox has woven a wonderful mix of science fiction and erotica. The story flows well with lots of sexual tension and escapades to heat the blood, there's daring escapes and rescues that has your heart pounding and a developing love that is sweet and sexy... oh and I won't even mention the f**k machine :-).

I recommend this to those that want a sexual short that is enjoyable to read, a good dose of sci-fi with some danger thrown in, sex hot enough and plentiful enough to have you fanning yourself and clenching your thighs and an ending that has you sighing at it's sweetness.

It's a wonder Rylan could focus on his targets since he was ALWAYS horny. Very strange tale of a hit man for hire who ends up on an odd planet supposedly planning to kill he planet's leader but then finds himself caught up with two guys, Gold and Loxy. Seems that Gold has wanted Loxy for years and Rylan wants both of them. A touch of Mission Impossible crossed with Deep Space Nine. Easy reading but lacked a strong plot, in my opinion. I think if Rylan had spent more time on the planning of the killing vs figuring out how to get these two guys in his bed, I might have enjoyed this more. I need balance in my romantic suspense!!

I really enjoyed this one. I only have one complaint... i want more!

I would love to have had a more "fleshed out" story here. And I'd love to hear how they continue on. While there was a definite ending, I would have liked to have read more and have that HEA a little more certain.

The blurb for this book hooked me from the start, so I had to have it. And I went where I never voluntarily go - deep space and into the future. I don't do that. Ever. So why did I this time? Pure dumb luck.

James writes in an easy, relaxed style that let's me fall head first into his story. He doesn't over explain tons of intricate concepts or devices - he trusts the reader has a brain and can fill in the blanks and imagine for themselves. Hallelujah.

The story is exciting and fast paced. The internal dialogue of Rylan had me snickering many times. He's witty, amusing, sassy and hardly a humble bone in his body. Gold, *sigh* sweet, adorable and alluring. You can't help but be attracted to his vulnerability, wanting to protect and love. Loxy was the unexpected bonus. I hadn't known this would be a triad.

In all this was a fun, energetic read with charming characters battling against a common foe.
