Con bastantes clichés (sobre todo del hombre que no sabe amar que ya me tiene bastante podrida) pero correcta.
Con un misterio a resolver que, cual CSI, menos mal que los culpables cuenta sus motivaciones porque sino nos quedamos en ascuas.

No esperaba q me gustara tanto la trama y es q me ha sorprendido lo bien armada q esta la trama argumental y es q estas historias son las q me hicieron enamorarme del género romántico histórico y actualmente ya es muy difícil encontrar historias tan bien escritas q no han sido dejadas a la improvisación.
Conocimos a Corrie como la amiga de Krista y nuestra experta en cotilleos. La historia empieza con el funeral de la hermana de Corrie, Laurel, quien presuntamente se habría suicidado con su hijo ilegítimo en brazos. A pesar de lo truculento del caso, me ha gustado particularmente q la trama no se detiene en la cuestión del escándalo, q existe obvio xq se ha muerto la hija de un visconde y encima se ha cargado al hijo nacido de una relación extramatrimonial; pero la narrativa no va de lo escandalizada q está la gente sino del dolor de la familia y particularmente del dolor de Coralee, xq además ella está segura q su hermana no se suicidaría y menos mataría a su hijo. El problema pasa xq si Laurel no se suicidó, es q la mataron, a ella y al bebé y Corrie esta decidida a averiguar quien fue. El primer sospechoso: el presunto padre, q no sabemos quien fue, pero Corrie empieza su actividad detectivesca q la lleva a asumir otra personalidad e inflitrarse en el castillo del conde de Tremaine, quien es el primer candidato a asesino de su hermana.
A partir de allí, todo empieza a complicarse, xq una vez instalada en el castillo no solo se multiplican los posibles candidatos a ex amantes/asesinos/padres desnaturalizados, sino q Corrie se ve cada vez más atraída al candidato Nº 01: Gray conde de Tremaine.
El suspense es sutil pero efectivo, y se van añadiendo buenas dosis de otros ingredientes q siempre le ponen sazón a este tipo de historias: atracción física entre los personajes principales con una interacción dialectica más q suficiente y mucha tensión sexual pero sin hacer las cosas tórridas, personajes secundarios interesantes q sin embargo no roban protagonismo sino q aportan tensión y más especulación, giros de tuerca q no te esperas y un final bastante dramático pero efectivo. De esos q contestan todas las preguntas y no dejan cabos sueltos.
Definitivamente este es mi tipo de historia, ya no se escriben historias como esta...ya lo dije pero lo vuelvo a repetir xq se extrañan esos tiempos...

Πέρασε ο καιρός και έχουμε επιτέλους στα χέρια μας και στις βιβλιοθήκες μας το δεύτερο μέρος της τριλογίας Από Καρδιάς της λατρεμένης Kat Martin. Η αλήθεια είναι πως μπαίνοντας στον πειρασμό να το συγκρίνω με το πρώτο μέρος της τριλογίας “Περιφανή Καρδιά”, η “Φλογερή Καρδιά” δεν έχει κάτι βασικό. Δεν έχει έναν Λέιφ. Θέλοντας να είμαι ειλικρινής οφείλω να ομολογήσω πως νόμιζα πως θα μου έλειπε η κοφτερή του γλώσσα και η ανεπιτήδευτη γλώσσα με την οποία αντιμετώπιζε την συντηρητική Αγγλία. Όμως έκανα λάθος.
Η “Φλογερή Καρδιά” είναι ένα καταπληκτικό μυθιστόρημα με έντονη αστυνομική χροιά. Η ίδια η ιστορία έχει τόσο ενδιαφέρον που συχνά έπιανα τον εαυτό μου να αδιαφορεί για τον ερωτικό πυρήνα του βιβλίου.
Η λαίδη Κόραλι Γουίτμορ βρίσκεται αντιμέτωπη με την αυτοκτονία της αδερφής της. Πενθώντας αλλά και αρνούμενη να κατανοήσει την αποτρόπαια αυτή πράξη, καταφτάνει στην έπαυλη του κόμη Τρεμέιν, προσπαθώντας να ανακαλύψει εάν είναι ο εραστής και δολοφόνος της αδερφής της. Για να μάθει όμως την αλήθεια μεταμφιέζεται σε ασήμαντη φτωχή συγγενή, μη μπορώντας να προβλέψει την ερωτική έλξη ανάμεσα σε εκείνη και τον άντρα που έχει ως στόχο να παραδώσει στη δικαιοσύνη.
Η πένα της Kat Martin για ακόμη μια φορά εντυπωσιάζει. Έχει τη μοναδική ικανότητα να σε ταξιδεύει μέσα από λυρικές περιγραφές τοπίων και ερωτικούς διαλόγους. Οι χαρακτήρες που χτίζει είναι εξαιρετικοί, αλλά αυτή τη φορά η βαρύτητα που δίνει στο ψυχογράφημα, όχι μόνο του πρωταγωνιστικού ζευγαριού, αλλά και των δευτερευόντων χαρακτήρων είναι αξιοσημείωτη. Μοναδικές ερωτικές σκηνές, απόλυτη χημεία και ένα αστυνομικό μυστήριο το οποίο κάνει ακόμα πιο ενδιαφέρον το βιβλίο. Προσωπικά με κέρδισε η προσοχή στις διακυμάνσεις της σχέσης του Γκρέι και της Κόλαρι.
Τον Νοέμβριο, περιμένουμε με αγωνία από τις εκδόσεις Άρλεκιν το τελευταίο μέρος της τριλογίας με πρωταγωνιστή έναν ακόμη Βίκινγκ.

Como pasar de una primera parte interesante y original, con un buen estilo y una historia coherente, a meterse en asesinatos, clichés de épocas y personajes sin sentido.
Aquí la protagonista se pone a dilucidar quién acabó con la vida de su hermana, que había tenido un bebé recientemente sin saberse quién era el padre. Para ello se hace pasar por otra mujer y se va a vivir a un castillo con desconocidos. Eso ya para empezar muy creíble no es, porque que te dejen entrar en una casa haciéndote pasar por alguien como si nada.. no lo veo.
Pero es que tras eso, el romance es todo acartonado. Ex amantes malévolas de por medio. Mentiras y seducción absurda. Una virgen que se hace pasar por una mujer casada. Y luego, cuando se arma todo y la familia de ella le rompe la trama...
Los obligan a casarse. Se odian. Luego se aman en secreto. Él no puede confesar sentimientos porque 'no sabe cómo amar' y ella es una suave y débil mujer. Investigan mientras se odian, pero se acuestan porque sucumben al placer, pero no. Drama. Tragedia. Se descubre todo: que sorpresa! (spoiler: no, era super predecible y visto ya mil veces).
Y final super feliz sacado de la manga.
Así no.

The heroine with the awful name Coralee is supposed to be intelligent. To investigate her sister's murder (one of many foolish decisions), she decides to play an uneducated ditz but does it laughably badly. She clumsily reveals her ability to read Greek, speak French, familiarity with Homer, can't remember 5 minutes later whether she lived with her claimed husband over or under a year...so the ex-military hero/earl Gray has no difficulty figuring out she's lying (a twelve year old child could have figured it out). How lucky that he was looking for a sexual relationship and considered that her looks and "mystery" made up for her lack of brains. Not all men require brains in their mistresses or courtesans although that does make such men themselves less attractive.
Coralee suspected him on the basis of nothing as possible murderer of her sister and his own baby, lied to him repeatedly and snooped in his bedroom and study, reading his private letters from his dead mother, not exactly the best wife and trusted partner material. However, ignorant of her perfidy he seduced her and by the rules of the day and her Viscount father in high dudgeon, he was forced to marry the not too bright deceiver who went on to explore a dark secret passageway and snoop in another man's room, caught by that man and her husband and "Lucy...she had some s'plaining to do" Really, she acted like screwball Lucy Ricardo of I Love Lucy and had the same red hair.
In another bone-headed move, when hubby said his brother's coming child could be his heir instead of a child of their own, she didn't bother telling him that the brother had been cuckolded. That would break the bloodline but she didn't think it was important for her husband the Earl to know?
TSTL heroine, awkward plot, clumsily inserted characters from other novels by the author, strangely sterile love scenes resulted in skim-reading to the anti-climactic end. Anyone who could not predict the resurrection of the baby wasn't paying attention.
One good line: "Perhaps that was the thing about desire. It chose you, not the other way around".

This is a really wonderful Historical Romantic Suspense. Even as an early work, this book is a great work by Kat Martin, one of my favorite Romantic Suspense authors. This book is a rare plot for an Historical Romance. The mystery is an intricate part of the plot. It is the foundation and the driving element of the book as a whole. The baddie wasn't revealed util near the end of the book.
When Coralee Whitmore's sister, Laurel, and her infant child die, everyone called it a murder suicide. Coralee would not accept that. As a viscount's daughter, she is a daughter of privilege, but she is also a writer for a ladies gazette, Heart to Heart, and is determined to get to the truth.
With nothing more to go on than village gossip, Coralee goes undercover at the home of the Earl of Tremaine, who has quite the reputation with the ladies and was on the top of Coralee's list of suspects as her sister's lover and the father of her illegitimate child. But, the closer she gets to the Earl, eh more she knows he isn't the villain and the more she loses her heart to him. Together, they are going to find out what really happened.

This was a very good book and narration by Beverly Crick. (audible review)
I really enjoyed it a lot. I liked Coralee, she was smart, beautiful and had spunk. I liked the Earl too. They had some good chemistry together and made a great match. I did enjoy this book more than the first one and am glad I moved on with the series.
The story line and plot was good. I really liked how she infiltrated his home and did some spying. There was a good mystery here and a couple twists and turns that made this story even more exciting. There was a lot of great dialogue throughout the entire book. I was easy to follow along and flowed very well.
As for the narration, it was great. Beverly Crick gets better and better. She does a great job on the men's voices and does accents very well. Everyone gets their own distinct voice and she reads with emotion.
I am moving on to the third book in this series.

Well, it wasn't too terrible. Actually, up until the very, very end I was fairly sure I'd love the book. There were numerous story-point changes, from Coralee pretending to be Letty Moss (Gray's supposed cousin's wife left abandoned and destitute) and moving in, to the two becoming spouses to save Corrie from scandal to the subplot involving Corrie's dead sisters whose death was suspicious. Overall, the book was very explosive, with a lot of intrigue and emotional rollercoasters between Gray and Corrie, but sadly, the primary bummer came- ONCE AGAIN!!!!- at the end. Within three pages, Martin reveals the Rebecca (Gray's sister-in-law) arranged to have Gray killed rather than his first wife, was behind the murder of Corrie's sister and child, was carrying her husband's brother, Jason's, baby rather than Charle's, is shot in the neck, that Charles' infant is still alive, and that Charles and Jason are right as rain after all this...
While I don't mind for a lot of dramatic points to be combined into just a few pages, what bothers me is when the author doesn't reveal seemingly accurate character reactions. During this dinner party where everything goes crazy, everyone- practically EVERYONE- is calm as can be. There are no overly shocking reactions...it all just seemed too...blase.
I won't say I hated the book because of this bad, BAD aspect, I did enjoy it enough to consider maintaining Kat Martin as an author to read. Not a favorite book, but definatly not a waste of time.

definitely a page turner.. can't get enough of it. loving the necklace trilogy of Kat Martin.. the flow of the story is fast for the first part.. but it somehow slowed in nearing the ending.

I can recommend Martin's other books, notably Fanning the Flame, however, I just HATED the hero of this one. HATE. The heroine wasn't a whole lot better, but she was plucky and enterprising and entirely wasted on hero. Once a hero needs to resort to aphrodisiacs to woe his lady love, the bloom is off the rose for me :)

I didn't love this book as much as the first. One of the things I loved about the first book was how funny Leif was; he cracked me up so much with his lines.
However, I liked Corrie and Gray in this book; it just kinda dragged. I read the first book in a day (and it was a reread) while this one's taken me about a week (and I'd never read it before). The mystery took forever, and
The steamy scenes towards the end were good, and overall, I liked this book and will read the third book. It just took forever to get anywhere.

Fantastic book.
I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t stop reading. Corrie is sure someone killed her sister and baby nephew. She pretends to be someone else but ends up falling for Gray. Loved them together. As they find out something towards the end, I didn’t expect to cry so hard. Also, can Gray keep her safe? Loved the suspense level and really loved their happy ever after. I highly recommend this book.

3.5 stars. I love Beverley A Crick’s narration. The mystery wasn’t as easy to figure out as I thought it would be. I do enjoy a fake identity story, but probably won’t remember this by tomorrow.
Updated to add: Just remembered one thing that bothered me about several characters in this book, including the hero. The lack of respect for wedding vows and quickness to commit adultery.

Coralee's sister is found floating in the river and she's thought she killed herself and month old illegitimate son. Corrie doesn't believe it so starts out to find a murderer. She falls in love and married Gray first but still thinks her sister is innocent. Together they find little Joshua and the murderer and return Joshua to his father after learning his wife and her friend had Laurel killed

Me gusto mucho aunque tengo que admitir que fue muy predecible en un inició, luego la autora te intenta confundir pero siempre tuve la ideas de quienes eran culpables de distintas cosas. Excepto por Thomas, eso si que no lo había pensado.

Second of a series. I enjoyed the mystery of this story more than the first one. Still loving the romance world but I am going to leave traditional romance behind for now unless someone can recommend a sexy period piece book that isn’t so formulaic.

Mesmerizing Writing!!!!
This novel had many interesting characters, among my favorites; Corrie, Laurel,
Grey & Charles. He believed himself incapable to love. She set out on a very important quest. Once they meet everything they believe comes into question. Hugely Recommend!!!!!

Loved it! I loved Coralee and how she seemed to deal with the murder of her sister. Disappointed how easily the Earl found out her secret but still a good read.
