I found the illustration in this book added to its charm. I bought copies of this book back in the 1990's and gave it to children because it stimulated their creativity and to adults because its colorful pictures and its message proved to be very uplifting. Definitely a nurturing "feel good" book.

Beautifully illustrated with a wide array of colors and beings, this book of short poems leaves children gasping at every page. It's great for kindergartners because it showcases many rhyming words and phonological elements. The entire book is comprised of short poems explaining why we are "lovable." These poems are all rooted in different elements of inner beauty (kindness, truthfulness, positivity). The language is easy to understand, and the ones that challenge their vocabulary are supported with context clues. This is a great book that penetrates superficiality of human beauty and helps children to think about the things that truly make them amazing and "lovable."

I have owned The Loveables in the Kingdom of Self-Esteem for many years of working as an early childhood educator. Each and every class has loved this one ans asked for it often.

The illustrations are bright, beautiful and fit the message of the book. Great job by Kim Howard, illustrator! Each page is positive and encouraging to young children to be positive and it is an excellent book to start a discussion about what self-esteem means to each of us. It also increases vocabulary as we discuss each animal in the poetry of the book.

A great book for kids and for adults. I think we can be too hard on ourselves for not being perfect or getting the entire To Do list done in one day. Take some time to slow down and read this book, know you are doing your best, and that you are a lovable. Positive and as the title says builds self-esteem.

It doesn't get much more 1990s than this, but the illustrations are colorful and joyful to look at, and the messages overall, are good ones. Thankfully, it's not all, "Hooray for me!", but values of caring for others and being kind and generous are emphasized as well.

This is my favorite children's book. I bought it when my daughter Julia was born and she's 36 now. I buy I for new mothers. The title says it all.

Reading this book made me look at the world a whole different way. I will read this to my sister a lot. I'm sure of that because I want her to know that she is lovable. I need her to learn the things that I did not learn while I was growing up like to accept myself for who I am and just live, love, and appreciate life as it goes and as it is.

This was a really lovely book. Very sweet narratives from different animals that encourage self love, self esteem, & self care, etc. The illustrations are beautiful, detailed watercolors. Might have to add this one to my collection.
