Deep in the desert there sits a beautiful oasis, ruled by a monarch unlike any other in Erdas. His name is Cabaro, the Great Lion, and he reigns over a kingdom of animals, jealously guarding his golden talisman. No human has ever set foot in the Great Beast’s territory. The journey to his oasis is impossible.
As a team, Conor, Abeke, Meilin, and Rollan have achieved the impossible before. But now that team is broken—the friends scattered by a devastating betrayal.
The young heroes and their spirit animals have already sacrificed much in their quest for the talismans. But with the world crumbling all around them—and a ruthless enemy opposing their every move—their greatest sacrifices are yet to come.

This is such a fun middle grade series! This one was just as entertaining as the others.
I enjoyed Eliot Schrefer's writing, although I felt that he failed to nail Rollan's sarcasm, making him seem kind of awkward. Like, it was kind of cringe-worthy every time he tried to use sarcasm.
A lot happened this book, a lot of twists and such. I, personally, didn't see them coming, which made the reading experience quite fun.
Even though Conor is featured on the cover, I felt like the book focused more on Rollan, which was fine by me as he is my favorite character in the group.
As of right now things are looking pretty grim for the group, but I am SO excited to read the last book because Marie Lu, one of my all time favorite authors, wrote it!
This book is amazing with so much suspense and heart wrenching surprises. All i can say is I'm impressed tremendously with this book, i could argue that this is the best book ever so far. The hunt for cabaro is a treachouros journey. Also, we lose and gain a member of the green cloaks early in the book then we lose one for good in the end and final fight for the golden lion. The golden lion posses and extremely great power. And i there isn't enough going on we find out who the real devourer is and the green cloaks are not the only ones in on this the conquerers bring the hole fleet including gerathon.
I love this series! This book was no exception but it was sad. At one point I caught myself with my hands in the air saying "Go naked mole rat!" Since I was listening to this at my desk at work at the time, I got a couple of strange looks from coworkers.
We finally seem to be headed towards a conclusion (even though the series continues after that). I felt really bad for Meilin. And I feel like I should've seen that twist at the end coming.
Oh my goodness! With all the twists and turns and amazing come out of nowhere plot twists, my socks have been knocked off (if I was wearing any that is). The twist of Tarik dying at the end, then seeing Gar with the wolverine and figuring out Shane really was bad. Then Abeke comimg back and bringing Shane with her, and then he lets his Great Beast out. When he stole the talismans I completely forgot that Rollan had put two of them in Tarik's sarcophagus so I figured everything was lost but now they are on their way to Kovo's prison! Book 7 will be so good!

I like the battle at the oasis I like your strategy higher ground is best place to be in battle. I love the golden lion because you can use a sonic roar to knock your appointments off your feet
Just finished this one. My kids at school are loving this series. It is great, especially for ten and eleven year old boys. There is a clear good and evil, but there are places where you can't tell which side is really the good one. There are gray areas and some people aren't just good or all bad. This is a good thing for kids to learn. Interesting little twist in this one that I didn't see coming at the end. There is sadness in this one, too. I enjoyed this book and it only took a couple of hours to read. It would be fun to read with K-3 graders to get them excited about books. Going to give these books to my grandson who is six. I think he will love them!
Now we have an earth bender. Again the universe goes off its own course and makes baseless abilities. I know it's fantasy, but it still has to be grounded on something and that something is based on the universe's rules. The one it itself dictates. Then suddenly we have a fire bender, so now why not an earth bender? Well it was also handled well, and I supposed this is more forgivable since another one existed already.
Enough about that part. The last book held a lot of chapters where our heroes where apart from each other. Telling stories happening from different places at the same time. This one has a lot more chapters like that. A welcome change of format since the series had the same formula for quite some time. Well it's quite ok. Written well and delivers the same quality as the others.
3.9999999 ⭐️ yallllll did it take me a month to read this. yes💀 DONT COME FOR ME OK? first to get it out of the way. the powers thing. WHY ARE THEY POSSESSED. rollan falling limply on his horse with his eyes like rolling around in their sockets actually SENT ME💀. and then irkik or whatever her name is. we’re gonna call her i-quirky cuz she’s not like the other girls. Spoiler......This series just keeps getting worse and worse. Truthfully I feel a bit depressed, and very ticked off at what happened in this book. I've struggled with this series because the good guys never catch a real break, but this book was the worst. It is sad, and depressing. At this point I'm feeling that even if by some miracle the kids pull off saving Erdas from the 3 evil great beasts, the conqueror's have killed more than half the good people left, and they populate more than half of Erdas, really there are so far only 4 real characters left that the series tries to get you to love that haven't been killed, so what's the point? Most of they're lands, families, and friends have all been killed. And I'm feeling that if they manage to pull off the impossible, it's not going to make sense at all how they manage to do it. I'm going to finish this series just to see it through, but so far I can honestly say I never plan to purchase these books, and I won't encourage people to read them either, because so far I'm just frustrated, confused, and depressed by this series.

This book is good because It says how a lion bigger than most rules over a oasis which animals go to. The lion is great beast along side with many other great. There names are halawir the eagle, kovo the ape, mulop the octopus,Briggan the wolf,Arax the ram,Jhi the panda,Uraza the leopard,Essix the falcon, gerathon the sepent,Suka the bear,Rumfuss the boar, cabaro the lion,Ninani the swan, and Tellun the elk. All of Them have seperate tailsmans. The one they are after right now is cabaro the lion. He is one with the most power. He is the one with the golden lion tailsman. That is what the book is about.
These books are so formulaic. It is almost exhausting to read. Through the series they go from big battles where they easily hold their own to a small incident that almost destroys everything... AHHH
this series took a long time to read because i didn't know that the author had put more books out but i love this series and i recommend it to anyone who loves magic and animals
Oh look Simba's on the cover ! Just joking .......... I liked this book a lot and you will not be disappointed by the action in this book .( it is one of the best in my opinion)
