I’m trying to read early American history books to my 3rd grade son who does not love being read to unless they are wildly entertaining and most of the time that entails books that are really too young for him. I thought this book did an excellent job of teaching about the life of George Washington in a fun way.

The book has both real pictures in black and white and then a colorful cartoon type of picture that is funny as well. My son really enjoyed this book and I thought it was really well done! Thank you Mike!

Also, I thought it was pretty cool to any of you Classical Conversations mamas out there … as we were reading the story, he pointed out that one picture in this book was in the timeline! I was so impressed by this and honestly I did not even know this! Sure enough, we opened the app and he found it and pointed it out to me! So fun!

If you have a younger reader, then this series is a gem. Done in a easy-to-understand format, the author does a excellent job of providing the right amount of information about each president. Done with both houmours illustrations and paintings, this book is thin enough it shouldn't put off reluctant readers. A great addition to anyone's library!

He was born in Westmoreland Country, Virginia.
He died in Mount Vernon, Virginia 1799.
He Had terrible teeth.

This picture book biography about George Washington detail his leadership roles from his job as a surveyor through the French-Indian War and American Revolutionary War to the beginnings as the first President. The biography is intended as an introductory history lesson for young children and doesn't go into in-depth details, but lays the basis of his personality and endeavors. Reasons for the wars were presented to the young reader, as well as the troubles of becoming the first president.

This is a great first biographical/history book for young readers because it gives good details but in an elementary depth. Mike Venezia uses both framed historical portraits from Washington's life, as well as framed funny comic-strip style cartoons to entertain the young reader while learning an important piece of history. The text is short and serves as caption to what the illustrations are depicting. Overall, this book is great for young readers probably in the K-2 range that are beginning to learn about history and historical figures.

This is a biography picture book about George Washington.
It was published in 2005.
It was a really cute way to tell the history about George Washington. There are things in this story that I don't know how the author knows some of the facts in it. I would not use it in my class because I just don't feel that it is that accurate based off classes I have taken in college.
