Ten excited co-workers arrive at the beautiful Avondale Resort on a remote island in the middle of the Caribbean, having been told that they are being rewarded for their hard work and productivity. But their relaxing tropical getaway soon turns into a murderous nightmare.
After an extravagant first night dinner, the guests retire to their lavish suites only to be awakened by an ear-splitting bang. They rush to the smoking parlor to find Jordan, the company’s intern, dead--a massive hole in his chest. Giles, the consummate English butler who seems to be in charge, announces that they must solve the crime or be the next victim. The killer, who has booby-trapped the island and cut off phone and Internet connections, is hiding among them. Is it the HR representative with a penchant for Bloody Marys, the twenty-two-year-old claims processor with the purity ring, or perhaps the head chef of the company cafeteria? The killer plays with their minds, inviting them to explore the beautiful resort, from the infinity pool with the high dive to the white sand beach complete with jet skis and snorkel gear. Their quest: to find the clues that reveal how the killer pulls off each horrific slaying. If they fail, they just might be the next to die.
A must-read for mystery fans, Whodunnit? Murder on Mystery Island <?i>is full of mind-bending surprises, challenging the reader to solve each ghastly murder along with the unfortunate resort guests. It’s Agatha Christie for the new millennium.
Anthony Edward Zuiker is the creator and executive producer of the American television show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He produced all three editions of the CSI franchise: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. Besides his work on CSI, he also founded the murder mystery show Whodunnit?. He also assisted in the writing of Terminator Salvation. He is currently involved in Blackbox TV, a YouTube series and is the executive producer and writer of the web series Cybergeddon.
On September 8, 2009, Zuiker released Level 26: Dark Origins, a book with associated web-based motion picture and interactive elements which he termed a "digi-novel". Zuiker produced 20 cinematic cyber-bridges, which readers are prompted to view online using special codes embedded in the book's text every 20 pages or so.
On October 14, 2010, Level 26: Dark Prophecy was released and the third installment, Level 26: Dark Revelations was released in 2011.
Very similar to the first book in this series. Not a bad way to while away some summer hours but these are not really mysteries in my sense of the term. It isn't possible for the listener to figure out who the murderer is before the big reveal and the killer's motivation is never explained.
What little originality and thought the author was capable of was used up by the first story. This one was highly predictable and the murder plots were much less cunning.
A quick who done it that was pretty good and also a freebie from Audible. The age old story of a group of trapped people forced to play a game for their individual survival. Some of the killings were pretty abrupt and others were done with a little flair. Good narration that added to the book.
This is a sequel to the Whodunnit TV show from 2013. Don’t read this if you haven’t read the first book, since it spoils who the winner and killer are from book 1.
The author's first "Whodunnit?" was a fun take on the stylings of Conan Doyle and Christie. Butlers, locked doors, colourful and varied guests, remote locales. And...murder, da, da...da! Truly, only the location has changed. Well, something else too. Giles the butler is no longer intriguing and cannot carry the familiar story. Worst of all, the killer may be revealed but no explanation is given for the bad doings. Reread the classics instead.
I personally really liked this book! I feel like a lot of people don’t really pay attention to the way Mr. Zuker wrote these books. The point was that not all killers have a point for killing. Even in the first book the killer didn’t have a reason. She just wanted to do it so she found a few suckers to kill. In this book the killer had a reason. She was guided by religious views that lead her to believe that “god” was telling her to kill the “sinners” that she worked with. Even in real life. Killers don’t always have a reason. Jeffery Dauphmer, Ed Gein, Ted Bundt, etc. some of the most famous killers in history and when asked why they did it. What led them to commit such a crime. They often said they didn’t know why. They just wanted too. The part where I was left frustrated was the epilogue! What happens when Giles confronts Jacqueline? I would really really love to read what happens between them! Is he really cursed or just extremely unlucky? Why did she pick him? What happens!!!??? I loved this book! Not a lot of people right a good whodunnit anymore. The way he keeps you guessing until the very end is just AMAZING! I love how he can hint at the fact that it is someone but then lead you in another way. I sincerely wish he would write more in this series or at least just one more book letting me know what happens! Selfish I know but it’s been a long time since someone gave me Hitchcock vibes in their writing! I hope this helped others in deciding whether or not to read it! Also if your reading this Mr. Zucker (please don’t be offended if I’ve spelt your name wrong!) please, please, please write just one more book! Sincerely, A small town girl with a taste for a good murder mystery!

I listened to the audio version of this book, cleverly narrated by the man who plays Giles the butler on the Whodunnit? tv series. The narration was excellent- he has a great reading voice, and gives personality to the different characters. That the book is free on audible makes that a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The book itself is a fairly decent murder mystery. Unlike the first one (and the tv show, for that matter), I was able to guess who the murderer was fairly early on in the story. Some of the characters were quite likeable, and I felt bad to see them get killed - which makes for a good story. The premise of the characters being from the same company and brought to a resort island for a company retreat was a nice one.
And the ending managed to surprise me, and got in some nice character development for Giles!
Again though, I would have liked to have learned more of the murderer's motivations, and how this tied in to the series wide arch of Giles being cursed. So while I liked it and really enjoyed the audio book narration, I was left with unanswered questions.
Just finished rereading this. I stand by my original review:
I don't know, I like these books a lot. Hopefully they'll have a new season of the TV show too because the set-up is so much fun. But, like in the previous book in this series, there is weirdly a lot of very detailed descriptions of all of the meals to the point it seemed like it should be a clue. But it wasn't. I like food and recipes so this was a fun detail, but kind of out of place.
I got this free on audible, and it reminds me of a phase I went through reading bad free kindle books. Uggh. Basically 11 people end up on an island, one of them is a murderer and starts killing them off one by one while forcing them to play an investigative game. Apparently there's some TV show that goes with it. It seemed like each murder got progressively worse (gross/bizarre) and I would've stopped listening, except that it was only 5 hours long and I was mildly curious as to who the murderer was.
I hope this becomes a nice, long series! Enjoyable, quick read with plenty of twists and turns. The creativity of the murderer is admirable (in a creepy sort of way.)
I kept looking up the series because Giles referenced two previous events on several occasions. I was convinced this was book 3 but it wasn't. I hope that there was just a change in publishing order because it means another book would be coming out soon!
While the first one is my favorite, this one is still enjoyable as well. I love the references to the show in it, which anyone who didn't want/wasn't a fan of the show wouldn't have understood. I loved the show, I love the books and I love the narrator.
I love that these two books got me into audiobooks, so YAY!
I kept waiting for the "contestants" to start asking why instead of who, waiting for the connection of why this group of people were picked to be killed, but it never came. And even when the killer was revealed, there was never an explanation of why. This was a morbid waste of time.

This was just so fun and suspenseful! I loved the way the author gets you to feel for the characters and I was blown away by the killer’s identity, I didn’t see it coming that’s for sure especially with how obvious or not obvious it was! I really hope he writes another one very soon!
I can not believe the killer was……… . . Not Gary, I thought for sure it was him, although I couldn’t stand him I just had a feeling. After he died, I thought maybe it was Cliff but then Whitney reveals she’s the killer after Cathy’s shocking death! I really wish it was Cathy or Todd who survived not Cliff who I found somewhat boring. . . I really liked Charlene, her death was pretty sad overall. As far as Todd and Cathy, I loved them and I wished they had survived and been the final 2 with Whitney. She was a great killer, unexpected, but I feel like they should have revealed that she was Jaqueline’s niece or something. Either way it was a good book and I’m so glad I read it!

In MURDER ON THE MYSTERY ISLAND BY ANTHONY E ZUIKER AND NARRATED BY GILDART JACKSON, when contestants are voted off this island you leave in a BODY BAG! Once again Giles the butler hosts a group of nine victims and one murderer to a game of MURDER! This time, a company retreat . Ten , well actually, nine co-workers , will be playing the murder game on a beautiful island resort. This is the second of the Murder/Giles mysteries I have listened to and love every minute of it! The narration by Gildart Jackson is perfect .
If you are into interactive mysteries then MURDER ON THE MYSTERY ISLAND BY ANTHONY E ZUIKER is a must listen audiobook . Listening to the series reminds me a lot of Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie. You don't know who's wielding the axe,gun/spade/bomb till the very end and then you shake your head with wonder!
I went into this one with such high hopes, after really enjoying the first one. It is by no means a literary masterpiece, but they are quick and fun reads.
This one, however, was much more disappointing. I found the characters to be bland, the killer was really obvious from the beginning (I told my wife my theory after 3 chapters, and was correct the entire time). I also found the murders, while incredibly creative, to be lackluster compared to the first book.
The pacing was really quick, quicker than the last book it felt like. And this time, the case order and the manners of death were all very similar, not only to each other, but to cases in the previous novel.
Again, this was a quick and fun read overall, but the ending was so predictable and disappointing that I would’ve stopped reading if the ending wasn’t 8 pages long.
Shout out to the book that put me on the mystery genre! For all the love I have for this multimedia series, this book sure is pretty mid. The ending is rushed to all hell, I wish I got a bit more character background and development, I wish we got a bit more perspective from the workers, along a lot of other things. This book has potential for sure, but it feels like the author saw the writing on the wall for the series and just wanted to get it over with. A shame since I really love this series and this books ends with a weird cliffhanger but it is what it is. I’m glad to have read it though, like I said, this is what put me on mystery genres.
My thoughts as I listened: "Oh, let me guess, [X]. Naw, that's too cliched, the author would never go that route. Wait, no - I'll bet it's [Y]. No, that's silly. There's literally nothing more cliched than that. They wouldn't do that, either." "Oh. Look at that. I was right. Both times."
Add to that the Survivor meets Saw premise. If you're into that, this book is for you. As for me, no thanks.

Not as good as the first book in the series, but significantly better than the TV show that aired on ABC. Perhaps because I was familiar with the author’s style, I was able to guess the killer fairly early on in the story.
This wasn't a bad read, but it wasn't the greatest either. At first it kept me interested in wanting to read more. However, near the end the story felt rushed and the ending wasn't as suspenseful as the other book. It was more predictable than anything.
This is like going to a murder mystery party or playing Clue. Everyone at this island retreat except for one gets murdered and the only way to make sure you don't get murdered is to figure out how the previous person was murdered. This would be a good beach read or listen.
The characters are so wholly unlikable and it was more than clear to me who the killer was long before the book was over. The murders were very predictable and the whole back end of the book felt incredibly rushed and uninspired. Definitely disappointed.
Interesting enough to keep reading but so outlandish and somewhat irritating that there really wasn't much in the way of the reader solving who did it..
Similar to the first book, but I loved the change of location, and the deaths were still unique. Essentially the same quality as the first book, just with new clues and a new murderer to unmask.
