Teddy Fitzroy’s back for another zoo mystery—this time it’s a koala caper—in this action-packed follow-up to Belly Up, which Kirkus Reviews called “great fun.”
School troublemaker Vance Jessup thinks Teddy Fitzroy’s home at FunJungle, a state-of-the-art zoo and theme park, is the perfect place for a cruel prank. Vance bullies Teddy into his scheme, but the plan goes terribly awry.
Teddy sneaks into the koala exhibit to hide out until the chaos dies down. But when the koala goes missing, Teddy is the only person caught on camera entering and exiting the exhibit.
Teddy didn’t commit the crime—but if he can’t find the real culprit, he’ll be sent to juvie as a convicted koala-napper.
My nine-year-old son stayed home from school Friday and the TV didn't go on once. This is newsworthy. Why? Because he wanted to READ THIS BOOK. "It's animals, and a mystery, so I love it." He let me read some chapters with him, and I agree. Suspenseful, informative and charming.
Poached is a fun, entertaining, barrel of laughs! I could not stop reading this book. I had a really good laugh during the koala death scene. Don't worry it is really not that bad and no "real" koalas were hurt during this part. Teddy is not that great of a spy/detective but this is what makes this book so much fun to read. It is because of all of the trouble that he finds himself in that makes things interesting. Any kid who reads this book is going to want to live at an amusement park. In fact, the idea sounds fun that I would want to live at one as well. There were many eccentric characters in this book. The author did a good job with this book. Keeping it fun but also easy to read for the targeted audience of the younger readers. I had so much fun reading this book that I am going to go back and check out the prior novels.
Another very entertaining book from Stuart Gibbs! This the sequel to Belly Up. Both books chronicle the adventures of Teddy Fitzroy at FunJungle, the world's largest zoo. These 2 books will be enjoyed by all ages, even though they are classified as YA. I am an old fart(67)and I love Stuart Gibbs books!
I am not a book fan, but when I read this and belly up, I will stay up till 12 in the morning to read these books! I love love LOVE these books, the animals with the drama and suspense is just a perfect mix! I recommend these books to animal lovers and people who like mysteries!❤️
Great! Thrilling and beautifully written (and informative). I found this a wonderful read and so much fun! I was scared, I was baffled, I was laughing, I was questioning- it is just remarkable. I've read it thrice and still haven't gotten bored- now, I don't usually read mystery, but this, this was a mystery in itself. How do you write like that?! I loved it and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a thrilling mystery, and about animals too! I loved how it included real facts, and how it was just adventurous and realistic.
As for Teddy, he is a wonderfully shaped character, smart and frustrated at times. He and Summer are a cute couple, though it would be better if they were a little older. Anyways, I think it's just admirable how when no one else wants to figure things out he does, yet he's not extremely good at it, his adventures help him, and he observes everything! I was totally wowed when he figured out it was- well, I won't say who it was, but I did not expect that!
So bullies, friends, loyalty between family, mystery, adventure, animals, danger- you've got it all! Right here in this book! It's a really good read, I enjoyed it, in fact, I'm going to go and read it again right now! Well, see ya!
This is definitely one of my favorite books I have ever read. This book has so much action and is really great, I didn't want to put it down. I really felt like I was a part of that story, it was really one of my favorite books.

Better than the first book, with enough twists in the mystery to always keep you guessing. Although, it has its own fair amount of interpersonal teen drama.
this was acc better than the 1st one. So basically, are mmc, who solved last books case, is accused of this one.
I feel like this book there were more side-plots, that i liked, not just investigating the murder. I liked that we saw some of Ted's life (skl).
The ending was good, but slightly dissapointing considering there was 352 pgs, i thought it would have a more shocking motive (yes, still after reading 1 million detective books, i still didnt guess the kidnapper-but sort of near the end
Another great adventure in Fun Jungle. It was a good and easy read. Still love the characters, the mystery and learning about animals as I go. Even had a few laughs a long the way. Teddy is so likeable even though he always seems to get into trouble. The difference between this book and the first one that is a definite plus: zero swear words and no mention of marijuana. Yay!
I loved it! I didn't read the first one in the series, Belly Up, and it was ok. I always have kids ask if they have to read books in order. I usually recommend it but with this one it was fine. I really like Stuart Gibbs as an author! Totally recommend, animals, mystery and a kid that is a hero what's not to like?
amazing as usual!! 0.5 points taken off because i noticed there were a couple of problematic comments, especially how fat people are associated as being bullies in this book, which made me uncomfortable.
I really love this series because the books are always such good mysteries. I didn’t know who the suspect was until Teddy figured it out, and I never would have been able to guess it was them. Overall, the book was action packed and never boring!
My son and I read all of the Stuart Gibbs books together at bedtime and we love them. The FunJungle collection is packed with action and memorable, likable characters!
My boys love this series! We read for a whole hour last night just to finish and find out who stole the koala from FunJungle. Now they want to start book #3!
