“Easy, tigress,” he drawled in a tone dripping with dark, manly sexiness. “All that blushing
can’t be good for circulation, or my self-control.”
---------
“You win,” he panted. His fingers tightened on her hips as he shoved her back into the wall and
kept her there with his body. “I’m yours. Be gentle.”
---------
"I will claim you.” The bed dipped beneath his weight as he planted both hands on either side of her hips and leaned forward. “I will consume you and break you again…” He moved in, pressing her back into the pillows and invading her personal space and stealing all her air. “And again until…”"

Let me start by saying that if you loved this book, beware, because you are not going to like how this review goes down.
Okay so you know those horror movies where there is a young girl alone in her house, and a thunderstorm knocks out the power, right after the radio flicks on saying that there is a crazy murderer on the loose. Then the girl hears noises coming from the basement, and she thinks “hmmm well my house is isolated out in the middle of the woods where nobody can hear me scream, my phone has no signal to call for help, and there are no batteries in my flashlight, but heck, screw common sense I am gonna go check it out anyways”. Then she heads down the creaking steps into the basement in her underwear where she is promptly murdered. That was this book, because while reading this book I literally started screaming “DONT GO INTO THE BASEMENT”. So much in fact that my dog got scared and ran under the covers. But seriously, this premise? I actually really like ghost stories most of the time, but Ana literally had a boogie man in her basement. No thanks. If I wanted that I’d go back to Scooby Doo.

Prepare yourself people, because now that I’ve gotten started on the Scooby Doo gifs, it’s gonna be hard to stop.

Sorry Velma, I can’t control it.

Okay so let’s get down to business.

I actually liked this book in the beginning. Ana was a normal teenage girl and she moves to this new house and has appropriate emotions for the things she was going through. Then, she starts being an idiot. She goes outside at night in only her nightgown, because she sees a man by the lake. Ladies and gentlemen, Ana has now become that stupid girl that is murdered in horror movies.

And this is me, looking for any sort of common sense:

I know, Velma, I can’t find any either.

Then, when she goes outside, the figure is gone, but she stumbles on something even more frightening if you ask me: the main love interest getting nasty in the bushes with another girl (an evil bimbo of course). Gross. So. Gross. That was the moment I started disliking Rafe, and he hadn’t even said a word.
Then when he does speak this is basically his and Ana’s exchange:

Rafe is kind of egotistical. He is “sexy” and he knows it.

When the ghost starts attacking Ana, effectively making her look like a professional nut case, Rafe basically takes advantage of her screwed up emotions.

The middle part of the book is basically Ana’s parents leaving her alone in a haunted house, and Ana being attacked by the ghost.

Rafe saving her. Rafe pretending to hate her and ignoring her when she is safe. Her parents coming back and telling her she is crazy. Her parents leaving again. Ana being attacked again.

Rafe saving her again. Rafe pretending to hate her again (because it’s whats best for her *eye roll*). Her parents telling her she needs a psychiatrist, and leaving her again. And then Ana being attacked… again.

Wtf parents? They just leave their semi-phsychotic daughter alone in a new house when she has almost died like 3 times?
I have an idea. An idea that would solve all of their problems: they should LEAVE.

The solution is so simple (then again there wouldn’t be a book if she just left, but that would solve my problem because I wouldn’t have read this stupid book).

Ana knew the house was haunted, and it gave me the creeps from the beginning. I understand that at the beginning Ana’s parents didn’t want to move, but if I was being harassed by a creepy ass ghost I would just leave on my own, or at least try a little harder at convincing my parents so I didn’t, you know, DIE. Then, when her parents actually want to leave, when Ana has almost died like 3 times (good job parents you’re finally catching on), Ana doesn’t want to because of her bipolar boyfriend. Ugh.

Then, when a kid dies in Ana’s basement, the sheriff accuses Rafe and Ana. Wtf? They are minors, and I’m pretty DEFINITELY sure that minors have to have their parents there when they are being interrogated like that. And when Ana finally grew a pair and said “i need to call my parents”, he literally responded, “nobody is calling anybody until I get some answers” and she’s like “I think were done” and he’s like “we’re done when I say we’re done young lady!"… ummm…. okay this guy might be crazier than Ana.
Actually no, Ana wins the crazy award hands down.

Ana and Rafe never really had to worry about being arrested though, because the sheriff was dumb as a rock. He actually asked, “where’s the weapon?” and Ana’s like, “What weapon?”, and he’s like “Don’t play dumb with me. What did you use to kill the victim?” First of all, sheriff, she’s not playing dumb, she actually is that stupid. Second of all, I don’t really know what kind of criminals they have in this cracked out little village in the middle of nowhere, but I’m pretty sure most of them don’t TELL THE SHERRIF WHERE THEY HID THE MURDER WEAPON!!! Does the sheriff think that Ana is just gonna be like “oh yeah that murder weapon, it’s right over there see? Here let me show you. Do you want me to handcuff myself too? What other evidence can I get for you?”
Come on gang, maybe the five of us working together can find some common sense here.

Nope, still nothing.

But this sheriff apparently does expect her to answer these dumb questions, because he later asks where she hid the guys SKIN. Yeah did I mention the kid was skinned? Gag. Excuse me while I go vomit.

The sheriff has some competition for the stupid award, though, and that is Ana and Rafe.
These two teenagers try to solve the murders by themselves, like two dumber versions of Nancy Drew.

But Ana’s not done being stupid yet. I actually laughed out loud when she asked, completely serious, “do you think the lawyer we just accused of murdering Johnny will represent us?”…. um yeah I’d bank on that, dumb ass. And I knew who the killers were like 200 pages before Ana (Lets break this down: Johnny and his killer were fighting over a girl named Kristen when Johnny was killed… then the Mayor comes in, acting super duper sketchy,

with his wife who’s name is Krissie, who Ana thought was familiar and who TOLD HER that she both went to school with Johnny and liked him…Hmmmm I wonder what the connection is there).

I guess if you’re going to take anything away from this review, it’s that if you hate clichés, stalker boyfriends, pathetic main characters, and stupid people, then run like HELL away from this book.

Hot damn she did it again.

First Warnings: This was given to me in exchange for an honest review and, honesty is what I do. Cool? Cool. Let's get started then.

Song Choice: "Haunt You Everyday" by Weezer - I just couldn't resist, "All This and Heaven Too" Florence and the Machine, "Crystalised" by The xx

First thoughts: I thought this was a spectacular book. There was a bit of chills, thrills, and all around a good time ;). There were also to list a few things: gender-confused cats, a schmexy male lead, a fun, easy to love MC, and a revenged crazed ghost.

Thoughts on plot: While this book looking at the page number might freak you out - its more than 400 pages this will be a week long read - or a weekend long read, WRONG! This book moves like it was a 100 pages and I am still demanding more! So the pace was moving fast, and kept you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails, and digging out that nightlight you definitely don't keep in your closet *don't worry your secret is safe with me* Seriously though if you live in a old house that creaks you might want to consider getting adult diapers if you are prone to peeing your pants....I am not speaking from experience or anything.....aaawwwkkward...... Anyways so this was interesting, it had a great mix of humor, mystery, suspense, the eww-omg-i-can't-believe-that-just-fucking-happened, and romance. And I can't wait to talk about certain aspects of the characters but that will have to wait for a bit. The plot i thought was pretty original - considering the idea of a ghost is used a lot in TV and movies, but then again I don't read a whole lot of horror/mystery paranormal stuff. I thought that it was the idea surrounding the ghost though. It was a very conflicting feelings. but again i will get to that spoon. This was more than a story about a ghost which i LOVED, there was just so much more than meets the eye to this - with the other characters, and all that fun stuff <3

Characters:

Ana: I loved her. She was sassy, and while yeah she was scared i would have been in the same position but she kept her wits about her. She never quite backed down from a fight even though the smarter, easier thing to do would have been to step back. She was another classic Airicka character, individual in her own ways, and totally kickass. I really did like Ana and even though she had moments she broke down they were all warrant and if she didn't i might have to ask the question - what are you a robot? I think also Ana does her own certain amount of growing up in this book, at the beginning she wasn't annoying teenager or anything - never that O.O - but she did go through a shit load and she really just took charge. I loved it.

Rafe: *loving sigh* What a man, what a man. This is one of the characters i really couldn't wait to talk about. He was SO DAMN INTERESTING - one of the great things about Airicka is not only does she write - really crazily swoony men, but they are more than one lines, and protective nature - I mean they are that as well but there is always more to them than meets the eye. They aren't just there to swoon over, they are there to learn about, to become part of their lives. So Rafe - *loving sigh - yes again* Oh Rafe he is the pinnacle of a boy bad, who is actually not so bad. There is something about how one must live up to expectations right? So when a whole town slaps on a label for you what else are you supposed to do but live up to it? Rafe is the boy who gets around and he doesn't pretend to be anything but when he first meets Ana but GOD THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO HIM. I really can't wait for you all to read this book - which you should - and meet Rafe.

so another character that had that awesome mix of, are you the good guy, bad guy, are you in the right or the wrong - the place I come to think of as the Grey Area. Johnny, I am not sure whether i totally agree with him, in the end of the book I don't think we are supposed to know whether we should be totally with him or totally against him. I think the way Airicka set it up made it that you could be the finally deciding factor.

So I do have a question - the model like group of people - crazy theory now you don't have to believe me but I think Rafe and Ana might have an encounter with the third kind if you know what i mean ;) hahahaha alright but seriously I think this was a great ending and I really did love this book :D.

Alrightie then now that you have enjoyed the stylings of Becca V you can enjoy more at my blog here: http://theviolethourbookreviews.wordp...

So Airicka has them all: Spencer, Adam, Octavian (*sigh* Octavian.....) and now Rafe... Seriously, with those guys coming from my head I wouldn't want to live in reality anymore... But now let's get to Betraying Innocence. The first thing I want to say is:

description

I have to be honest here, whenever I checked Amazon for the book I just couldn't get myself to actually buy it. I don't even know why, but I had it on my wish list instead. I was really glad when Airicka offered free copies and I got one. Boy, am I happy about that!

description

This book is romance, fantasy and murder mystery in one. No matter what you feel like, this book satisfies every need. I was hooked from the first page and I can say that a lot of it was Rafe and the whole story behind him. The way he treated Ana, caring for her in the sweetest way and then pushing her away made my heart break along right with Ana's. And still, even though he tried to push her away he was always there when she needed him and I am glad that eventually Ana got the chance to pay him back for that.

Concerning the murder mystery... I pretty quickly was onto three of the four guys involved and I felt immensely proud. It's not that Airicka just writes it so flat... In contrary, she makes it exciting and fun to just follow along, trying to solve the mystery WITH Ana and Rafe instead of just reading how they do it. It takes a lot to actually make me take part in a book and hold my breath whenever the characters hold theirs, but Airicka managed so right from the beginning.

I couldn't figure out what Johnny's deal was at first and I wasn't sure what to think about it, but just like he grew on Ana he grew on me, even if it was just the person you love to hate.

Now one of the quotes I loved most from this book:

' "Is he dangerous?" her mother gasped. "Oh yeah, in a big way!" Wanda laughed, still making no attempt to take their order or go away. "The boy could make a nun sin! Just looking at him will melt your clothes-" '
- Betraying Innocence by Airicka Phoenix

description

Now I want to say a few things about the grown ups in this book. I love both of Ana's parents and I especially love how her dad takes to Rafe eventually, being the cutest and yet protective dad anyone could wish for. Same goes for Ana's mom, who appears to be tough on the outside, all business woman, but then she shows her soft sides and I can just say that no matter what was thrown Ana's way, they were there for her, which I think was very good and yet didn't seem overdone or anything, like sometimes authors do.

I read a few Airicka Phoenix - books so far and all of them got a five-star-rating from me, which is the highest on Goodreads. If you ever get a chance, pick up any book from her... You won't regret it, no matter which book you pick.

All I have left to say is:

I love you, Airicka Phoenix.

Where does one start with the awesomeness that was Betraying Innocence by Airicka Phoenix? I have faithfully read and followed Airicka’s books from the beginning and I am truly enjoying watching her growth as an amazing storyteller.

Betraying Innocence was not what I expected it to be. I’ve read the teasers, the synopsis, and was not prepared for the amazing book that I read.

We’re introduced to Ana, our heroine as she just relocates to a new town, a new home, a new start. She’s left behind the place where she grew up, friends that she’s known since forever…but she is trying to make the best of the situation placed in front of her.

Ana is such a strong character. With all that Airicka puts this poor girl through…GAAHHHH…I don’t know how Ana survives. Or stays sane. I truly loved watching her work things through, stay brave, and confident. Even when everything in her being screams that she shouldn’t….that she’s crazy. She’s faced with events and decisions that no girl her age should EVER have to make. That no person should ever have to experience.

Early on – the story gets interesting. Where’s the tapping? What’s that sound? Who’s that….ahhh….now I have your attention!! And just when you think it’s nothing….we meet Rafe. Golden skin, tight abs, half-naked….yes, NOW I have your attention. Rafe is Ana’s new next door neighbor. And though they have an interesting first encounter, you can feel the heat, sense the sparks….right from the beginning.

Now, we all know that Airicka gets her book boys right. And Rafe is no exception. Just the perfect balance of bad and sweetness. Caring, loving, protective….seductive, sexy, and gorgeousness….all wrapped into one neat little package. The way he loves Ana is amazing. I mean, you’ll have to experience it for yourself, but what this boy goes through and experiences with Ana is top notch stuff.

When some seriously weird things start to happen to Ana, you’re going to be on the edge of your seat. The vivid images that Airicka writes will make you not want to close your eyes. She begins to weave an intricate web, linking people and things together…without you even realizing it.

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Johnny Baits and how he and Ana are connected will leave you on the edge of your seat…not wanting to put this book down. Trust me, this was a two night read for me, and only because I started it late the first night. Yeah, it’s that good.

So, as you read, keep this in mind, things are not always what they seem….follow the story, love the characters, and enjoy the delightfully terrifying ride that Airicka will take you on.

Five super amazing stars!!!

Once again I am ENTHRALLED by Airicka's brilliance!! She always outdoes herself with each book she writes and this one is no different, Rafe holy hotness balls!!! Loved him and his yummyiness, "Rafe - he was another story. He was making no effort at all to cover the miles of golden flesh bared to the night. The button and fly of his jeans were undone, parted dangerously into shadows - no boxer band." Yeppers our boy likes his boys to roam the wilderness. And he's quirky boy oh boy I love that in a man, "You know, I don't quite recall that. I do however recall how shamelessly you were asking me to drop my pants." I mean he's a bundle of cockiness as well, "do you have another place in mind where you would rather see me naked in the middle of the night?" His voice was the low purr of a very large cat. "I would be happy to give you a close, personal showing of any part -" He's protective as well, "Rafe bared his teeth. "Next time I hear you talking about her, I'll break your jaw, understand me?" WOO BABY what a ride this book had me on my toes and some of the visuals I got Heather loved (not just the naughty bits either.)

Ok so yeah, um a perk of my life is getting awesome books like this in exchange for my honest opinion. I am going to tell you exactly how I felt reading this. I just finished it and my heart is still pounding in my chest, my breathe is a bit stag hard and I still want more. Ok so maybe I'm a bit dramatic but I never said I wasn't. ;) I'm actually a bit of a scary cat when it comes to scary things. I was hesitant to read this for that fact alone but being a huge fan of Airicka Phoenix and being that she's my friend I bit the bullet and jumped right in.

I really loved this book. THe town was a bit freaky with its I'm better than you are kids who don't take well to new comers. Ana moved to this small town when her dad got a new job that took her away from her life as she new it. Little did she know she was moving into the house from hell. Her first weeks in the house had her going crazy. She couldn't sleep, she was hallucinating, and she kept having weird things happen to her. In a small town like his one word gets around so of course her first days at school weren't great ones. Every kid at school was watching her and whispering things she couldn't quite hear but she knew they were about her. Her only savior sat school was a girl named Jack and the town bad boy Rafe who crazy enough was also her new neighbor.

Things started getting totally heated for her. I mean like seriously and the worse things got for her the more she thought she was going nuts. I'm not going to get into too much detail for fear of spoilers but you really need to read this.

I enjoyed Ana and Rafe's relationship. I loved how his story unfolded. He was totally misunderstood and because of his families past the town took it upon themselves to treat him horribly so of course that's who he was, for them anyway. I saw Rafe as this hotter than hell guy who loved his family and would do Anything to protect those he loved.

This story will grab you in, shake you up, and torture you till you've finished every single word. I loved it and I think you will too. Totally a great book for most ages. I'd let my daughter read this.

Great job ms Airicka. You had me on the edge of my seat. Thank you for not completely scaring the bejesus out of me. I was just a little frightened. Maybe! ;)

Airicka Phoenix never stops to amaze me with every book she writes I become entranced, pulled in and never wanting to leave the book alone and trust me Betraying Innocence is no different. I became so vested in this story I lost track of time and what day it was I didn't care my only thought was dang here I go again. The scenes in this book play out so well that you really feel like you are there right in the middle of it all as it swirls all around your head as you try to put the pieces of it all together. I didn't sleep I stayed up all night because I had to know what happened, how it happened, and who did it! Not to mention the yummy bad boy Rafe wow that character was smoking! Then there is Ana and she is the complete opposite of Rafe. They get together and sparks fly. As they try to uncover an almost 30 yr mystery that digs up some ghosts that may have been better off left buried. I could go on and on about Betraying Innocence and I really want to however, I can't spoil the story for all you others out there. If you want to uncover some ghosts and meet a true bad boy then go grab a copy of Betraying Innocence and let the paranormal of Airicka Phoenix pull you in!

Another awesome book by Airicka Phoenix!I am not one for reading scary books or books that contain ghost,it's just not my thing. However, there was no way I could pass up an Airircka Phoenix book. She is a totally writing rock-star. Betraying Innocence reels you in and captivates your total attention. And of course she conjured up another hot book bad boy. As far as bad boys go,Rafe is at the top of the list. He is a delinquent and uses girls for just one thing. Ana is a sweet an innocence girl who refuses to become one of his playthings. But Rafe keeps showing up to rescue her when things go horribly wrong.Ana elicits his help when things become more dangerous. But what he doesn't bargain for is a revengeful ghost. Johnny(the ghost)is hell bent on getting revenge so he can be at peace. So what do you do when a ghost is hell bent on using you as a vessel to exact revenge and turning your life upside do to get what he wants? Ana and Rafe must find a way to stop Johnny before some gets seriously hurt or dies. But what can two teens do to stop a ghost?

Betraying Innocence by Airicka Phoenix is a spooky thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ana and her family move to a small town and Ana soon discovers that there's something strange going on in their new house. Ana is being haunted by the ghost
of a teen who lived there years ago. Ana and Rafe, her neighbor and boyfriend, begin to investigate what happened to the boy and they encounter dangers from more than just the ghost.
I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. It was very well-written and the story line flowed smoothly.
The encounters that Ana and Rafe had with the ghost were so real and so scary - I had chills reading some of the scenes. And I was fascinated by the mystery behind the ghost and what he wanted from Ana.
Rafe is definitely book-boyfriend material. (Of course he is....he was written by Airicka Phoenix and all of her book boys are swoonworthy.) He is the town bad-boy but he really cares for Ana and he is there for her no matter what. And he's super sexy!
This book was amazing and I highly recommend it.

Wow I don't even know what to write about this book.. Lets just say Airicka Phoenix has done it again by writing a book that absolutely sucks you in and you cant seem to put it down.. Next lets talk about Rafe.. When does she not write a hot sexy man. Ana moves into a small town and stumbles upon Rafe in her back yard behind the bushes having fun with a girl. The things he says will just make you blush all over and wish he was talking to you. Ana is more of the good girl next door and lets just say he can certainly change that. He is by far one of my favorites boy toys so far out of all of her books. I pretty much feel like I lived this book at parts just in utter shock and shaking at how real it was let alone even cried at parts. Airicka by far has turned into one of my favorite authors and I highly recommend any of her books out since they are all amazing.. WARNING: If you start this book expect to get no sleep till your done with it

Everything this woman writes is gold. I knew we would have another winner/ bestseller on our hands. Airicka really knows how to write scenes that make you feel like you are there with the characters, and she can write some pretty sexy book boys as well! Another thing she does well is suspense and terrifiying situations. I literally felt sick reading about what happened to the Mayor's son. Read this in the dark, i dare you!

Ms Phoenix can't seem to do wrong. With every book of hers I read I just become more and more in awe of her brilliance. This book was just full of awesome and had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through.

I think this is the first horror book I have read and I have to say it was quite freaky. All the things that were happening gave me the creeps. I was half tempted to sleep with the lights on after reading it. I got through it fairly quickly as I was glued from the very first page. I could not put it down. I needed to know what was gonna happen next. There was a lot of mystery and suspense to be had and of course a sizzling hot romance.

I always love Airicka's characters and it was no exception this time. Ana is a very likable and strong character. She goes through so much, questioning her sanity and fighting for her life. She never gives up and is just so brave. I loved watching how she handled things. There are one or two times when I feel she missed something so obvious but I forgave her as she was dealing with a lot.
Now Rafe. Whoa mamma does Airicka know how to write smoking hot boys. This guy was totally swoon-worthy. The right amount of smart-ass and sweetheart you will immediately fall for this bad boy. My heart broke for Rafe though and what was going on in his home life. I wanted to wrap him up in my arms and never let him go. I loved his and Ana's relationship. I loved how they were both there for each other no matter what. The book is told in dual POV and I loved getting inside Rafe's head.

Another thing that I really liked about this book was the relationship Ana had with her parents. In a lot of YA books the parents are either absent or not existent or are horrible. But Ana's parents were awesome. They were so loving and protective. I especially loved her Dad. He was adorable and so funny. I loved their interactions.

The story line is very fast-paced and there is never a dull moment. I just loved it. So beautifully written, the scenes will come to life before your eyes. It will scare the bejeesus out of you as well as leave you swooning over the intense romance. Another winner from a fantastic author.

What do you do when there are no words that come to mind when trying to write a review for an author you completely adore? When you feel all has been said before at one time or another? There are no words I have not already said in my previous reviews written for one of Airicka Phoenix's books. She's utterly amazing, no doubt about it she's talented! Furthermore she rocks your world when you find yourself so deeply captured by one of her books nothing (not even a small house fire) can make you close the book.

Ana has bit off more than even she can chew when her family moves to a small town, where the neighbors know everything and the town's people stick together. Whether or not they stick together for or against you is another thing. She's losing her mind slowly, as the tapping begins, haunted shadows cause night terrors, and the ghost of a figure stands by the pond in her back yard.

Just outside her window Johnny stands, he must get the attention of the new tenant somehow. There's been so many come and go over the years, he's almost given up. When Ana and her family move in the thought of getting revenge is overpowering. His anger controlling his actions, he scares Ana on more than one occasion. Never giving up, he needs her help before it's too late.

Rafe never imagined he would meet another quite like Ana, she's beautiful, soft glowing skin tempts him. His small town reputation is a curse and he's gotta look past the sweet innocent face staring back at him. There's no way she will accept him once she knows of his past demons. When he finds his sweet Rosa in danger there's no stopping his heart thumping in his chest as he runs to her rescue. Regardless of the demons he faces in his personal life, her safety is all that matters.

Airicka Phoenix weaves a sticky web in Betraying Innocence that captures your attention. You'll find yourself so wrapped up in the story, the characters come alive and each scene plays out in your mind. Her written world becomes your reality for just a moment in time. The last word bringing you back to the face the reality of what life brings you.

Betraying Innocence by Airicka Phoenix is a topnotch thriller/paranormal mystery. This strongest aspect of this story was the way the story involved and the suspense built. Another thing in the book's favor was the fact that the back text didn't give away too much of the story.

Ana is a city girl who moves to a suburban town in British Columbia. The first night in the new house Ana can't sleep and she sees a ghost standing by the pond in her backyard. When she goes to investigate she adds up accidentally meeting her hot new neighbor Rafe, who was having a roll in the grass with a local girl. But of course, they instantly butt heads.

Then just go downhill from there for Ana.

One of the most of the effective aspects of the writing is how the author doesn't spend much time describing what's haunting Ana. This pulls you into new world of Ana's and makes you want to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next, where the story is going. The only reason I didn't finish this book in a day is because I had to sleep.

If you're looking for a book with thrills, romance, mystery and unexplainable happenings, this is your book.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I can honestly say this book was AMAZING!!

Betraying Innocents was a perfect Halloween read filled with mystery, horror, ghosts and and of course a nice love story. Once again Airicka Phoenix has given the world a gift with her beautifully written words.

This book was wonderful! The story line was flawless and so were her characters I love how Rafe and Ana's relationship blossomed into love even though they were surrounded by misery and horror.

Rafe every girls dream guy and every fathers worst night mare was a perfectly swoon worthy book boyfriend. Ana although she thought she was going crazy and headed for the nuts house has a very clear head on her shoulders and and ferocious courage in her heart.

I was amazed of how quickly I was sucked into the story and held there until the end. The story left me wanting more from these characters and I'm really hoping Airicka keeps the story going.

Wow! What a ride! I read this book while my baby was in the NICU and I need something to pass my time. Airicka is amazing on how everything she writes just grabs you and sucks you into the world she has created. This book scared me to death at times and I actually had to read another book before retiring for the night. There something to be said about reading a scary story like this while alone in a dark room of an old and creaky hospital. Eek!! This being said, I absolutely loved this book and finished it quickly. It was funny, romantic at times and freaking scary! I would recommend this book to anyone that would listen. It's definite well worth the read and has been added to my favorites list!

The whole ghost haunting concept really caught my attention and so I decided to give this book a try. Starting out I had a bad feeling about this one into the first 100 pages; so I put it aside and after a while came back. I really tried, I did. More and more as I read, there were many moments that I was just like

and later followed to this

and this

finally this

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!! I haven't read a book like this since I started reading again. As a teenager suspense and mysteries were my favorite and this book made me remember why. Airicka Phoenix has a way with words and descriptions that makes you feel like you are right there watching the story unfold as a part of it. I can't wait to read more from her! This is a great murder mystery with a nice love story worked in. Great job Airicka!!

O.M.G. Rafe..... Excuse me while I swoon. That boy had me from the moment he said "Would you like me to drop them?"
I was definitely hooked from the very beginning and was not left disappointed.
The twists and turns had me fighting the urge to skip forward to find out what was going to happen.
I have loved all of Airicka's books and this one is no exception.

You get a package deal in “Betraying Innocence” - horror, mystery and romance more or less seamlessly interwoven into this YA storyline. And it ends without a sequel!

First I must say that I really think you should read this book!!! It is a hidden gem that most people would pass over but really. It's Amazing!! Seriously!!! Go get it now!!!

This is the first novel I have read by Airicka and it won't be my last. Betraying Innocence was very well written with really lovable characters. While it is a paranormal teen, it is so much more then that.

Ana is a simple girl to move to this small town (which happens to be in Canada!) hoping to make some friends and just enjoy being a teenager. Her next door neighbor Rafe is the bad boy in town with looks that could turn a nun and a reputation that could break her heart. When things start happening that she can't explain, Ana must uncover the mystery in order to save herself, family and possibly the one guy that might accept her craziness.

Both Ana and Rafe were such amazing characters that I really am so happy that I had to chance to read about them. Ana was so witty and fun, along with one of the bravest and smartest characters I've read about. She was quick on her feet and when thrown into the situations she had to deal with, she overcame everything with kick assness (I know not a real word, but she's just kick ass, so I'm using it). Simply, Rafe was just sex on a stick. He was confident, sexy and just completely drool worthy. There are scenes when he is with his family that completely give you a better picture of how deep and caring he is. He really is the full package.. and oh what a package ... mhmm.. =) (Cheesy lines are his thing, I must as well use them too) Ana's family was so super great and had me laughing and caring for them. They were a real delight, giving her the freedom and truly were really great parents. They had a very yin and yang feel about them, completely complemented each other.

THIS BOOK HAD A VERY STEAMY ROMANCE!!! Some how Airicka gave us one very hot and steamy romance. With everything going on and with Ana kinda going crazy, this romance didn't feel fake at all. I loved how Ana and Rafe first meet. It had me laughing and totally drooling. I also loved their building relationship. It just felt right and normal. As normal as you can get with a ghost running around in your house.

THIS BOOK WAS SO FREAKING CREEPY!!! I seriously read it for a bit in the dark and every creek that my house made I was looking around.. I seriously stayed up until my boyfriend got home to go to bed cause I didn't think I could handle laying there by myself, listening to all the noises. And I don't normally get freaked out. The ghost aspect of the novel was done so well with a crazy story line that had you kind of rooting for the ghost but then also not. He was a true ghost, terrorizing everyone. It was so wicked!! Urrgg loved it!!

THIS BOOK HAD SOME MAJOR SHOCKERS!! There are some things that happen in this book that had me stopping, saying "No this couldn't be!!" I thought she must have been dreaming cause how could that have happened?? I was blown away by how intense the story was written. I was so caught up in the story, literally nail biting, being nervous of what was going to happen on the next page. This all being said, don't think that it's too scary for you. Its not that it's scary...it's just good. It consumes you it's so good..

OVERALL I highly recommend you pick this book up. It was very well written with characters that you would love to be friends with. Specially Rafe. Seriously? Could you meet someone so hot!! Mhmmm...
Go buy the book and read it right now!! I swear you won't be disappointed. It's made my list of top books I've read this year so far. I will follow this author from now on, which is why I'm actually delving into her next series right now!!

Enjoy!!!

Say what you want about this book. I beyond LOVED IT. I love EVERYTHING Airicka Phoenix writes. :)
If you are going through reviews for this book to see what it is about or just wondering whether it should be your next read... stress no more. I'll make this simple for you.

You know those books you've read that made you lose sleep and consumed your everyday life and you couldn't function and the story and characters were ALL you could think about...? Well...
...Just start reading this book NOW cause I promise you it's a great read. Airicka Phoenix just gets it right ALL THE TIME. She's amazing and I have been a HUGE FAN since picking up Touching Smoke. I own and have read every second one of her books and still waiting for more from her.

Betraying Innocence is a great read cause it has: swoon-worthy guy candy, loveable characters, a storyline that makes sense and is engaging, mystery, perfect romance, humour (and boy did I laugh), suspense, horror. You are hooked from the word go.
I can honestly say that EVERY SINGLE ONE of Ms. Phoenix's books always has me hooked from the first sentence, and that's just chapter one.

What I loved the MOST about the book were the CHARACTERS. I loved all the characters and I really felt connected with each one but my favourite well written characters will have to RAFE (obviously) and... wait for it... DAN (I'm sure if you have read the book you might be like O_O "what?!? Dan?!?).

RAFE - I really felt connected with this character and felt for him. His family background was also well explained and used nicely to make his character stand out for me. I loved his attitude and he was perfectly written. And I'm not gonna lie, he made me swoon ;).
Ms. Phoenix wrote him well with the changes of attitude from bad boy to caring and likeable. He was the right amount of PERFECT.

DAN - I liked reading scenes with him in them, even though he was abusive and a total douchebag, I thought his character was believable and was so well written I was engaged and felt like reading more about him. In a weird way of mine, he was entertaining.

But pick up the book and make your own opinions. It's a great read and would recommend ANYONE and EVERYONE to read not only Betraying Innocence, but Airicka Phoenix's other amazing books.

Happy reading! :D

As some know I am one of Aircka Phoenix’s biggest fans. I absolutely love her books. Unfortunately it pains me that I had to give this one 4 stars. I don’t know why but it took me forever to get sucked into this book. Normally I am hooked by the first chapter. With this one I was about chapter 5 when I decided to put it down and take a nap with my daughter. But once I got sucked in that was all she wrote. Needless to say kids had pizza for dinner because I didn’t want to put it down.

Ana was great. I felt for her at the beginning with all the crazy crap that was going on. Her parents were freaking awesome. I sure wish mine were like them. (LOL). She was a sweet girl switching school for her senior year and went through a lot of craziness. I hated the town she moved to. I hated the people there. It all made me want to scream for her.

Rafe… Oh Rafe how I loved him. He was a sweet guy playing bad boy because the town was mean as hell and wouldn’t give him a chance. But Ana did. They both did everything possible to stay away from each other until one night they both saw something which brought them closer together then simple dating would. They were a sweet couple and I loved when they were together.

Johnny.. Another sweet boy. One that I had the urge to cry for through out the book. I felt for him and what happened to him. I am glad everything played out like it did. I am glad he got his closure.

This book was great. I did enjoy it a lot. It didn’t have me from the start like the rest of her books but I still enjoyed it. I wish there was an epilogue at the end to see how things were down the road some months or years later. I know I always want more. (LOL). I would definitely recommend this book. If you haven’t read a book by Airicka Phoenix then you are surely missing out.

A fantastic read! Normally I don't do suspense/ghost stories (I can't take suspense) but I've read a lot of Airicka Phoenix's other books and have always been impressed so I knew this book would be well worth the read. I was definitely not disappointed. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I've said it before but I'll say it again. Airicka has the way of completely drawing you into her stories until you completely forget the world around you and are utterly convinced your life depends on turning the next page!
I loved this book. The story was thrilling, suspenseful, scary, romantic and sweet all at the same time. The story was well written and drew me in completely from the first chapter. Ana is a fantastic character. She is loyal, brave, and uncompromising about protecting the people she loves. Her parents were also really funny and I loved their chaotic relationship. Rafe was also really cool and I liked that he was still a good man despite all the unfair hatred and abuse he put up with for most of his life. The only characters I was disappointed not to see more of were the 'lost boys' and Jack from Ana's school. Jack definitely had the potential to be an interesting character but I was sad to see she didn't really show up in the latter part of the story. I was also wondering what happened with Rafe's step-dad. It would have been nice to confirm he went to jail for a long time but I guess that wasn't really important as the events of the story came to a close.
All in all this was a very good book. It was excellently written and I would definitely recommend taking the time to read it and others by Airicka Phoenix.

I have always been a huge fan of Airicka, and reading this book, makes me want more. Her writing style is off the charts amazing. The stories she comes up with for the world to read is astonishing.

Moving to a new town was hard. Leaving behind friends, even a boy she liked just so her father could be closer to his work. But after meeting a "bad boy" as Ana's father states, she is sure she can stay away.
Strange things begin to happen, the cat leading her to the basement... was she seeing things? People dying around her, her becoming sick, she took matter into her own hands about the previous owners and a runaway boy that use to live in the same house.
Things happen, the truth comes out, and it's a perfect ending to a wonderful story. I want to know more with what happens between Rafe and Anna. They are such an amazing couple, and this story proves it more beyond words!!
