Unreap My Heart

Rate this book
Only a villain can save the day.

During his thousand year banishment in the Nethers, Balthazar thought of nothing but taking over the Crossroads from Death.

On the day he puts his plans into action, Balthazar finds the Crossroads on lockdown. Death has been stabbed by Brianne’s Bitterness, a blade that slowly leaches him of his powers. In order to challenge Death for his seat and prevent utter chaos, Balthazar is forced into a mission to find the Redeemer, the only being capable of pulling out the blade from Death’s chest. The only person who can identify the Redeemer is a human girl in the Crossroads whose soul is still attached to her body.

Meeting Arianne Wilson pushes Balthazar’s patience to the limit. In a deal he makes with Death, he must protect Arianne during their journey through the Underverse using all the resources available to him. He soon realizes the one he needs to protect is himself. For as much harm as it inflicts on Balthazar's body, trekking through the Underverse with Arianne is proving more dangerous for his heart and soul.

Can the villain remain a villain when love gets in the way?

* An ARC has been given to me in exchange of an honest review*

Unreap my heart is one of those books who'll make you regret reading the last sentence of it by curiosity. So don't do it people, I'm warning you ;).

At first I didn't know if we would see Niko in this book and well, it was more a book about the journey of Ari and Balthazar through the Underverse (because of a deal made with Death at the beginning) than a book about the relationship between Arianne and Nicholas. Balthazar is a total bad-ass you shouldn't mess around with but I liked him and I also didn't know if it would be a love triangle or not.

A bond will be growing a little during the book between Balthazar and Arianne, but she still thinks about Niko even if she's doubting about how well she really knows him (distance from the person you love can do that to a person).

It was really different of Reaping me soflty because there were a lot more of explanations about how the world around them worked or even about the different 'creatures' living there. We also have access to knowledge about what happened to some of the characters of the first book and it felt like we were receiving answers to questions we were asking ourselves before. So that's a good thing!

But at the end, you'll have new questions unanswered like how Aria will respond to Niko,

If you like the first book, you'll probably like this one too. Be aware that there's a cliffhanger and if you hate the idea of not having Niko (or almost), well that's too bad... but you'll probably have your fill of him in the third book :).

Review also posted at Ja čitam, a ti?

It's been a while since Reaping me Softly came out. With that lovely cover and the whole idea it was impossible to resist it. Like I said in my review then this book had a concept that really had been innovative back in time. Back then I asked for this sequel not to be predictable and I got that, unfortunately some other things changed.

One thing is sure Unreap My Heart continues in the same manner. Leaving Earth and going to Underverse is hard to define. The whole world seemed terrifying and really imaginative at the same time. After troubles in the first book Arianne now has to go on a quest to try to safe her love and lives of many she cares for. Her personal tour guide is Balthazar himself. The clock is ticking and they need to survive lots of creatures and tricks to reach the thing they want the most. Balthazar power, and Arianne way to save everything she cares for.

Like I said the mare travel and the world here have been really great. I loved the picture of Underworld and different twists that seem to fit the setting perfectly. But I did have some troubles. First and foremost Balthazar. At the start his character seem to be perfectly captured. He was heartless and cruel, just the way you expect him to be, but problem started later in the story. Which leads us to the main problem - this sort of love triangle. Huh, duh, hard to explain when it was mostly psychological but it bothered me. The picture of perfect love between Ari and Nico we left in the first book was perfect made me feel for them. Mainly the thing between Ari and Balthazar was hard to imagine and feel.

At the end I must say that the ending here rocked the show! It does end with a cliffhanger but it was so gripping that I cannot wait to read more.

I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.
First of all I would like to thank Kate Evangelista, author of Unreap My Heart for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this fabulous book of hers.
In this sequel we get to know Balthazar, the bad boy type villain who stole my heart of course and maybe of many others out there! Did I hear some of you squealing a ‘yes’? I think that I definitely did. This book is completely different than Reaping Me Softly (Book 1) and that I said in a good sense because it surpassed the awesomeness of book 1, literally! Guess what guys? Here, in this sequel Death (with a capital D) is stabbed through the chest by a traitor (yeah, someone among them is the traitor!!!) and who can save him? Of course none other than our own Ari! Balthazar wants to throw over Death and grab his position and when he plans to give a second try to it (oh yes, he tried before but failed in the fight with death resulting in his banishment to The Nether), he finds that the Crossroads are on a lockdown because of the fact that Death got stabbed and now he has to find a Redeemer to take that dagger out (why? Because he is an honourable man even though he is pure evil and can’t attack a weak one! Yeah, girls that makes him much more desirable!!!). Arianne’s soul is still attached to her human form and she remembers everything about Nico and can see him too so to save his humanity she agrees to help Balthazar, find the Redeemer and get the dagger out of Death’s chest. Now starts the dangerous, spooky and a little passionate quest where slowly something unusual happens. Guess what? Yes, there is some possibility that Ari may fall for Balthazar. Oh and Nico fans don’t be upset because you’ll be getting some Nico for yourselves as well in this sequel. Will they succeed in finding the Redeemer? Will Ari be able to save Nico? Will anything romantic brew up between Ari and Balthazar? Will they be able to save Death and open up the Crossroads? Find out the answers yourselves by reading this terrific book!
It was a great pleasure and I loved the comfy and simple writing style of the author that made the whole story believable and Arianne a known girl who took us along with her on the difficult journey that she went through. The characterization is awesome and all the characters are developed and flourished totally and not at all sketchy. Balthazar’s character was the gem of this story and I liked the noticeable development in Ari’s character as well. The action scenes are well executed and the vivid descriptions helped me to visualize the whole story. There is suspense and mystery which will drive you nuts and you will be left wondering about the traitor and the upcoming problems that would surface in Ari’s path. The author made the read totally unpredictable and thus intriguing. The cliff-hanger irritated me a little but it is keeping me on my toes as well and I’ll surely grab a copy of the next book as soon as it comes out. The romance here is a little mature and passionate than book 1 but the complaints that I had in book 1 totally got resolved in book 2. The dual POV added more to the awesomeness and we got a chance of entering in Balthazar’s head which spiced up the story. Overall a great and must read for ya all and hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy guys!

“For every innocent death, an angel weeps an ocean of tears."

I was so excited to start this book seeing how much I loved the first one "Reaping Me Softly". So before I say anything else I'd like to thank the author Kate Evagilista and Tracy Olsen for giving me the Arc Of Unreap My Heart to read and review :)

UnReap My heart has POV's of both our main characters in the book Balthazar and Arianne. The story starts with Balthazar's POV. Balthazar had been banished to the Nether for challenging Death for his position and losing the fight. Now that he's back he still wants what he did a thousand years ago. To defeat Death and claim his seat. Being inside Balthazar's head we get to know what and how he plans to do exactly that. But when he reaches his destination he finds things in a way he didn't quite expect. The crossroads are on a lockdown! Reason? Death has been stabbed!! And the traitor had been a midst them. Now the problem is that the dagger by which death has been stabbed can only be removed by a Redeemer. And only those with a human tie can see and recognize them. Enter Arianne. If you remember from the previous book Death was supposed to take away Ari's sight as well as her memories of Niko but death being stabbed during the process kind of stalled that. So Ari is still able to see and remember Nico. So to save him and his humanity she makes a deal with death to go with Balthazar to find and bring the redeemer to remove the dagger from death's chest.

You must be wondering why didn't Balthazar simply attack Death and defeat him right? Well because he has a sense of honor of course! :D He's unwilling to fight death when he's already so weak. Thus Ari and Balthazar set out to find the said Redeemer.

I absolutely loved the banter between these two. The way they got on each others's nerves had me laughing out so many times. But the road to find the redeemer is not as simple as it sounds. As the journey progresses we get to see different shades of Balthazar's personality which I'm sure he wouldn't want :D.

At the corner of her eye, she saw Balthazar’s face turn blank.
But before he could stand up, the Nixies jumped all over him. He
struggled, but so many of them swarmed him that they soon covered
him from head to toe. The all-black Balthazar covered all over by
pink Nixies. Arianne couldn’t help herself. She laughed and laughed.
“Not funny!” Balthazar barked.
“It’s a little funny,” Arianne said. She covered her open mouth,
but the laughs kept coming.
The Nixies laughed too and began jumping up and down on
Balthazar.
“Get them off me!”

Soon after Ari is told by other that forgetting Niko would be in her best interests. By the end of the book Ari is questioning herself about how much she really knows about Niko and most of all she questions her feelings for him. The end sadly has a MASSIVE cliffhanger. Oh how I hate them! I need the next book like RIGHT NOW!! :D

Now to conclude the review lastly I would answer the question at the end of the book and that would be YES, I DO BELIEVE THERE IS GOOD IN Balthazar. :)

Ahhh I am so frustrated I so needed more Niko in my read but Balthazar was surprisingly interesting to read.

And oh yes did I love this book! I had a thing for Death in Reaping me Softly even though he was a villain but it was agonizing to read him in this book... poor D.

Anyways I really dig the sass in this book and the tit for tat between Ari and Balthazar. That was fun to read for sure. I enjoyed every step of the way on the journey to find the Redeemer before time ran out. The story was suspenseful as well so that was a plus.

I liked the vast underworld that we got to see so much of in this book. It gave me so much imaginative material for future reference in the series. I liked this book alot though admittedly not as much as Reaping Me Softly. But I think that's just my Team Niko coming out. I was glued to the pages and needed to know what happened next.

I like the intertwining of the real world and the Underworld. This is a brilliant YA Fantasy series with memorable characters and a great plot. I had to tell myself to imagine this is Arianne's story, and not so much Ari and Niko's story, because I love Ari & Niko... together and we definitely get more Ari in this read. And OMG Zakariel, great character!! Maybe one of my faves, ooh and Carrie didn't disappoint, I love Ari's crazy best friend! I laughed and nearly cried too!

It ventured to a place called love triangle which is something I really don't like but in this case I felt like it was more of a revelation to Balthazar that he could feel things he had no idea he was capable of feeling. I enjoyed watching the development of it and I dreaded what was going on. I was scared the whole time for Niko, I wanted nothing more than him saved and safe. It was on my mind the entire read! LOL Sorry I'm all Team Niko, although Balthazar was a swoon worthy bad boy!

I wasn't disappointed with the book because it was definitely intriguing and a captivating read.

The story... loved it! The plot... Twisted! The characters... yes please. Really a great cast in this book! I cannot wait to see what's next for the Reaper Series and the cliffhanger left me reeling! Kate Evangelista is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors! But OMG I so need book three!! Aaah!

First: The cover.

This cover, I LOVE IT! It is dark, and it is hot! This was a well done job. (Who designed it?)

Second: I’m very picky when it comes to paranormal books, it’s hard to keep me hooked, but this one did, and it was a very good job!

I’m still not very sure I like Arianne, but then again, I have issues with all heroines, I always find something wrong with them, I’m always paying attention to what they say and when they say something immature, I snap. But hey, Arianne is fine, she’s a teenager, I’m really asking for a lot lol.

And most important: Balthazar, oh Balthazar…

Leave it to me to fall for the ‘’bad guy’’.

I really like Balthazar, he is different, he is focused, and even tho he is put to test when he has to protect Arianne, I enjoyed his personality and how he develops.

I got a copy of this book in exchange of my review; let’s just put it this way, NO PARANORMAL SHELVE IN THE WORLD SHOULD BE LACKING THE REAPER SERIES!

I won’t spoil the book, but I do hope with all my might that we get another book, I need it, stat.

Please Kate? Pretty please?

Love and Rockets! M.

Oh Miss Evangelista how could you leave me hanging like that? After all we went through together. The connection myself and I'm sure countless others had with Balthazar then you do that. tsk tsk but how i loved this book.

I found Arianne grew up and was glad she was questioning the undying love she had for Niko. but the shining star in all his magnificently dark glory was Balthazar, what a man! the first book for me felt it didn't give the series justice but boy oh boy am i glad i decide to read book 2. My only problem now is that i cant find a release date or info about book 3!

oh and for the record i thought death was a nice guy through out book one until of course the ending but now i feel like i misjudged him the whole time and he is just a sneaky S.O.B

Great sequel to Reaping Me Softly!
Readers of my reviews will be unsurprised that I had an immediate crush on Balthazar. My unhealthy love of the bad guy is well documented. I mean, I am pulling for Niko and Arianna, I really am. She is walking through DOOM for him. I support this. But Balthazar is hotness, with all his angry bad guy leather and buckle wearing bad guy-ness.

Again, I love this world building. Reapers employed by Death as the heroes of a story is just fantastic. Kate deserves all the fangirls she has and more. I look forward to reading more from her.

Unreap My Heart
By; Kate Evangelista
****Spoilers****** Disclaimer, I go off into a narrative so feel free to skim that part.
When I first began the series I was pissed, even from book one the simplicity and ease of the love story felt like a stab at my own life, because life and love aren’t that easy. Well I got over that so quickly, and began to fall in love with the story and the characters and all that jazz. At the end of the first book I was let down yet again everything worked out so swell in the end and there was literally nowhere to go from that point on. Then the second book started and for as pissed off as I was that Arianne and Niko have yet to have a happily ever after I was excited to see the new ways their love would grow and the new world that was the Underverse. The second you give a character POV you humanize and rationalize their decisions so no matter how crazy or jacked to hell they get the reader can understand where they are coming from and will easily forgive most actions. So Balthazar starts our story and I instantly know he will be such a huge part of the plot. I being the stupid little book worm I am was so thrilled and pleased to have him join the cast. What did Balthazar bring to the table… the bad boy who has one objective and yet still falls in love with our heroine? I saw this twist coming from halfway across the Underverse. I hated every time Arianne and Balthazar had a moment because all those moments add up to is me wanting them to be together and then hating Balthazar because he is Seducing Niko’s girl, all the while I try and be super pissed at Arianne because she is having these confusing thoughts but how can I be angry when I am thinking them too; I probably would have done the same things as her too. Add to that the fact that Balthazar will only ever love one person and I am so torn it is easier to just let them all do as they please. What kills me the most is that the entirety of Reaping Me Softly is spent making us fall in love with Niko and Arianne and their relationship. Unreap My Heart Spends every page questioning Niko. Eventually Arianne questions who, as a person, Niko is, she questions his love for and her love for him (not cool by the way) and then while we are all super confused over a character that cannot even defend any of these accusations strategically placed Balthazar is there to twist emotions and seduce hearts which literally is his only plot function! I am so disappointed with how Kate Evangelista just plays with reality that she created…Not cool. So finally, I awaken one rainy Sunday morning with only the hopes of ending this confusing emotional ride, and I am so glad I put off reading it until after I was well rested. With twenty pages left I say the end in sight, then on the last chapter I became so engulfed in how the book would end that I did not notice the book had ended until I read the last God forsaken line, turned the page and saw… the acknowledgements, at which point I turned the page back and read the last line. A moment of silence followed only to be quickly broken by a loud gasp and me throwing my nook to the other side of my bed. I felt betrayed like a happy ending was promised and then sacrificed to be maliciously slaughtered in front of me. After, feeling the pressures of all the implications that came along with what just happened (there would be another book, Balthazar was now closer to Arianne then Niko, Arianne and Niko’s relationship was toast, Death is still a conniving butt trumpet, there is going to be a new and grander plot then the last two combined, and Arianne might as well be dead.) I stumbled off my bed and paced around babbling and shouting who knows what. I literally entered the stages of grief. First I was unbelieving like it was some sick joke being played, so I shambled about my room in a dream hyperventilating! Then I was pissed off, even though it was only for a second, the explosion in my head was near nuclear. After, that I sobered up and was at such a loss I propped myself against the wall and tried to regain my breath, I didn’t even try to make sense of everything knowing there was no way I could do anything in this situation let alone make sense of a senseless malicious act of writing. This is where I lost it, I started to laugh, at myself, at the ending (the book has a twisted sense of humor, but like I said before it was indeed a sick joke) at how I was going to have to wait for the next book to see how it all ends…if it ends then. And with that thought I started to pity cry, not real tear inducing sobs, but chest quaking contractions that shook to the core as I squished by face into the smallest possible configuration. Then there was… nothing, everything I felt had made its way out and I was left feeling drained and still betrayed. I remember thinking the day before that I was going to have the worst book hangover because of this one and sadly that is too true.
Moral of the story, Betrayal. Everyone does it every gets it, betraying is easy and it has big consequences.
What I can say about the story is that in the last book the ending was rushed, not that it was written quickly but that the climax to the ending where Arianne is depressed and all seems hopeless is described in too bereft a way to give it the weight it needs to propel seamlessly to the end. This book did not have that problem. The quest mentality provided a quick time line that kept the action moving. This book also did a much better job at character development. Every side was explored and all thoughts were not just stated by elaborated and reexamined later. I enjoyed the many obstacles and adventures that the story took. I don’t know if I can condone the use of the Voyeur’s mansion, the setting was obviously useful in enhancing the tension, but it was so blatant, with a hint of bad taste.
Needless to say I really enjoyed this book and I will be looking forward to the next installment.

After reading Reaping Me Softly, I was team Niko (Reaper of Georgia and Ari’s love interest) all the way. And when I saw the synopsis of Unreap My Heart and started reading it, I felt like no way would I fall in love with Balthazar. A scary villain? No way. But I was massively wrong! I tried to resist it but I just really couldn’t. Despite being evil, he has his charm. He made me laugh and swoon. Right now, I’m not sure which guy Ari should choose, but as a reader, I can have them both~ Unless something happens in book 3 that may make or break my heart. We’ll see~

Unreap My Heart definitely has a different tone from Reaping Me Softly. In this book, everything’s not so simple anymore as Ari has to bargain with the people of the Underverse. Things can get really tricky and one must not simple trust another being. It was definitely an emotional roller coaster as Ari and Balthazar face different characters and obstacles along the way. Since the Underverse is something that is quite new, it was truly wonderful and somewhat scary to learn more about it. Kate Evangelista mixes the familiar with her own spin-off – ogres, angels, etc. Although I think there are still some secrets that have yet to be unlocked. Also, I think there’s more mature content in this one with a couple of swear words and sexual references.

Oh, and can I just say asdfghjklasdfghjkl to the ending. I think Kate Evangelista may just have so much more in store for us in the next book. Oh, and I also like how I saw some characters from Reaping Me Softly.

OVERALL, Unreap My Heart was definitely a step up from book 1. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, and Kate Evangelista definitely surprised me with the turn of events in this book. Arianne had to traverse the Underverse with the villain, Balthazar. I definitely enjoyed learning more about the Balthazar and the Underverse, meeting new characters and finding about this world they lived in. After wowing me with Reaping Me Softly and showing me so much more with Unreap My Heart, Kate Evangelista has truly won me over with her remarkable writing skill, wit, and humor. She spins wonderful worlds of adventure, action, humor, romance, and whimsy, and I would definitely want to read the rest of her books. I would even buy the paperback copies even though they’re a little expensive because her books are that awesome. Also, NEXT BOOK PLEEEASE!!!

Arianne has struck a deal with Death but before her part in the bargain can be fulfilled Death is struck down by Brianne's Bitterness. It is a blade that only the Redeemer can remove. Arianne is the only one who can find the Redeemer in the Underverse and must journey with Balthazar to find them. Balthazar has one goal to heal death and challenge him for the position. He has to find the Redeemer to finish his goals. The only problem is he has to travel with Arianne and that is the last thing he wants. She makes him look at all things different and he has to keep her safe. Both find more than they were looking for on their journey.

I loved the first book in this series. When the first one ended I was dying to see what happened next. I will say this wasn't what i expected. It was so much more than what I would have guessed. For in large part that has to do with Balthazar. He is bad, he is dangerous, he is a mystery in some ways and he is so yummy. At first I figured he was the typical bad guy. He sure seemed liked it but as he makes his journey with Arainne he begins to open up. You see more and more of what made him the way he is. He does what he can to protect Arianne even when you think he is not. I couldn't get enough of him. Arainne for those that read the first book and didn't like her much you may like her a little more in this book. She begins to question how well she know Niko and if she truly loves him. She has to face many different creatures in the Underverse and learns about them. She really acts more grown up and she still has to face many difficult things. I love reading about all the different creatures in this book. There is something for any paranormal fan and this book will definitely stand out as great. As a side note I have to say like the first book I love love the cover of this one. I would recommend this book and series to anyone who loves a paranormal book.

This book was given to me free of charge by the author in exchange for an honest review, and may contain spoilers.

First I must apologize to the author for taking a long to review this book, life got in the way :(

This book captivated me from the very beginning.
The cover is just stunning, excuse me while I stare at it for a minute *_*

'Damn, it's good to be back.'
The very first thought from Balthazar had me smirking along with him. Balthazar is a reaper who has been banished a thousand years to the Nethers and he is hell-bent on getting his revenge - taking over the Crossroads by challenging Death for his seat.

Balthazar is the perfect "villian", he is attractive and I particularly enjoyed his dry sense of humor. I like that he isn't a "knight in shining armor" and he doesn't pretend to be. What you see is exactly what you get. The only reason he is agreeing to help Ari find the Redeemer to help Nico keep his humanity, because in the end it helps him get what he wants too. He is selfish and unforgiving.
Why do I always end up sympathizing and loving the "bad guy"?

The world building in this... WOW. Traveling through the Underverse is truly a terrifying trip. The place is crawling with various creatures pulled straight from your worst nightmares. There were times I had to close the cover on the my Kindle and say, "whoa, that was frightening." but not even a minute later I would be enthralled in the story again.

The ending. THE ENDING! I need more Kate Evangelista, I will be in line for the next installment that is for sure. That cliffhanger! AHHHH. I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys paranormal/fantasy, romance, young adult and finding yourself rooting for the "bad guy".

I'm not a fan of spoilers in reviews, even though you can hide them. There's always that temptation to peek, so I'm going to stop myself now :)

Happy reading!

This book was by no means a disappointment. I just love Kate Evangelista. She has a knack for words and storyline ideas that make you wonder what your dreams may actually be like. (I still rank Taste to be one of my all time favorites that should be a TV series!)

Let me start off the covers on Kate Evagelista are truly worthy to the story itself. I love it when the cover draws you in and the author backs in up with an amazing story, well written and truly intriguing that doesn’t leave you flipping through the pages to get to a better part. Kate does, however, leave you reading non-stop so you can find out what is going to happen next. Before long the book is over and you wander how long you have to wait for the next installment...

The Underverse and the character of Balthazar are ones that I definitely want more of. Balthazar, bad boy through and through makes you want the villain to win the heart of Arianne by the end of the book. Balthazar is paired up with Arianne to find the Redeemer to pull the dagger out of “D”. Not a pleasure trip in Balthazar’s mind to travel the Underverse with Arianne who is doing it for Niko’s humanity , plus be allowed to keep her eyesight and memories in the process and be allowed to return to the human world. Balthazar wants to rule the Underverse so basically he sucks it up so he can get what he wants too. He strikes a deal with “D’ that once “D” has his strength back that the two of them will fight for the position of ruler of the Underverse. Balthazar also requires that as Arianne’s protector and escort throughout this adventure, he wants a year of her life.

I hate reading spoilers so I don’t like writing them in reviews. But my opinion is that this is truly a great read. Thank you Kate for another amazing book!!!

UnReap My Heart is Better Than The First Book in “The Reaper Series”!!!

I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Kate Evangelista did an amazing job of continuing her “The Reaper Series”, UnReap My Heart drew me in right from the beginning and I could not put this book down. Sometimes, the next book in a series isn’t as good as the first and leaves you disappointed but not UnReap My Heart, it is even better than Reaping me softly.

The book starts with Arianne waking up from a dream in a room alone and scared. She realizes she still has her eyesight and her memories of Niko, which she shouldn’t have after the deal she made with Death. She quickly discovers that something went wrong with her bargain with Death to save Niko (the Reaper of Georgia) and get his humanity back. What she finds leaves her stunned and she soon discovers only she can help save Death and in return for her help he will be able to save Niko. She must travel the Underverse with the help of the very bad and sexy Balthazar, who has his own agenda and reasons for agreeing to protect Ari and keep her safe on their journey to find the one person, The Redeemer, who can save Death. Will they be able to travel the journey through the Underverse without killing each other or being killed? This book is amazingly written and leaves you craving more!! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I fell totally in love with Balthazar and his relationship with Ari and I must have more of these characters!!! I highly recommend this series to all ages!!

I received this copy from the author in exchange for a honest review.

Ms. Evangelista has done it again. She has written a book to enthrall you and leave you wanting more. what a great 2nd book to the reaper series. I cannot wait for the third.

Arianne is amazing. I love her snarkiness towards Balthazar. Her confusion though on her feelings is going to get her in deep doodoo and the ending doesn't help. Holy toledo boledo on that ending what a cliffhanger. Here we see a Arianne that is confident when she doesn't feel it, beautiful in how she deals with the situation, compassionate when she shouldn't be and kind even in the face of evil. After everything she went through to have Death do what he did she still believes but than at the end that has to shatter someone.

Balthazar is so fun. I loved him. He was not always nice and trying to change Arianne's mind about Nicolas not nice. Remember Balthazar people can change and when love is involved they definitely can. Look at yourself there as Arianne warms your heart you have many acts of kindness towards her. You are quite the protective guy and this does make you irresistible. His anger though whoosh that is scary. Death did a number on you I must say.

A story that is adventurous and yet shows the lengths one goes for love and compassion. So beautifully written and entertaining with a ending that will have you clamoring for more.

Like all the other books i have read from Kate i am giving a 5 starts out of 5 for the content and the cover. Unfortunately i haven't read the first book from the series, but after reading this tomorrow that will be the first book i will buy.
What i love about this book the most is the originality of the plot and the paranormal stories. Also that me not reading the first book didn't confuse me with anything, because at any new story their were enough details, and some from the past. Love Arianne her character and the fact that she will always want to help you even if her life could be in danger. On the other hand Balthazar is the perfect bad guy, that is OK to fall for him. At the beginning i didn't like him that much because of what he was about to do and didn't know to much about him. But as i kept reading i could not help myself from falling in love with this character.
Small spoiler about the book, all the plot is build around Balthazar return "home", and the him finding D injured. All of this brings lock down to the "city" Crossroads nobody being able to come in or out until they found the enemy.
Read the book in one day, could not put it down. This is a must have book especially if you have read the first book. Then i can only say you are missing so much in not reading it.

I really enjoyed this book. Ari wakes up and none of the deal she had made with Death had been fulfilled. She is soon thrown into a mission with Balthazar. He is a bad guy, no way around that, he even admits it. The whole reason he had come to the crossroads was to challenge Death for his job. Finding Death with a knife sticking out of his stomach was disheartening and ruined all of Balthazar's plans. Now he must find the Redeemer, with a human soul along, keeping her safe, all so he can save Death and challenge him for his seat!

Ari getting on Balthazar's nerves was completely entertaining. I loved the bond that they 'acquired', I'm not sure that didn't annoy Balthazar even more. Balthazar was a great character. He was a little off and I completely loved him through the story but he did give me whiplash a couple of times with his changing. The interesting 'people' along the way were awesome. The house they stayed in was eventful and I really liked the way the story unfolded.

I rate this a 4/5. I liked Balthazar a lot! I can't wait to see where Kate goes with this series!!!

Thank you to the author for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

Does anyone know when the next book is coming out? This ended on a cliffhanger.

This sequel had almost everything you hope & dream one will have. It's interesting, fast paced, adds new characters while expanding upon the old & the protagonist shows true growth. While the 1st novel was adorable & cuddly, this one is not that - more like an action flick. It also helped it was set in the Underverse where the prospect of something killing you is like 98% of the time.

I missed Nico & his saccharine love, but this novel didn't disappoint me. I really like Balthazar in a completely different way from Nico & I think the series is better for it.

I'd recommend the book. Lots of nice plot twists & fast paced.

Now if only I could hear something about the next book. I need to know what everyone keeps alluding to about Nico!!!!!!!?!?!?

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review (We <3 YA)

Let me start off by saying I did not read book one. I only got the feeling that I was missing something a few times, but those things got explained later on in the book. I now know that it is not necessary to read the previous book in order to read this one. One thing I really liked about this book was that the afterlife included both heaven and hell, which is something you don't see in many books about the afterlife. I also liked Balthazar's perspective a lot more than Arianne's, so it's probably a good thing I didn't read book one because I feel like I would get super annoyed with her.
I enjoyed this book on it's own, though I will definitely be picking up the next book because THAT ENDING!!! OMG WHAT?!?!

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?

The unpredictability that I loved in the first book of this series continued on in this book too. There were many twists and turns. This book keeps you on your toes. I love the tension between Arianne and Balthazar. I know I shouldn't like Balthazar. He told us all through the story how he wasn't a good guy. Me thinks he doth protest too much. The ARC of Unreap My Heart by Kate Evangelista was provided to me by the publisher for review. The opinions are my own.

As with the first book, love the title. And I must say I really like the artwork used on the covers. What I love about this story is that it's not a re-hashing of the previous book (Reaping Me Softly). New characters, new places, new ideas, similar feel. However readers should be aware that this book has much racier scenes than the previous book--what can you expect of a bordello in the underworld? I felt like the ending stopped in the middle of a chapter. I liked the wrap up on the first book better, but will look forward to another installment.

Clliffhanger! another friggin' cliffhanger. GRR.
Because I read the first book yeaaars ago, I kinda forget who is who, but still vaguely remember the story line. Towards the end of the first book, I was rooting for Niko and Arianne. But after reading this book, I feel like there's a connection between Balthazar and Arianne. Plus, Balthazar is very interesting to read.

Will there ever be a third book in the series?

More twists and turns than a serpent - I'll do a proper review on iloveyafiction.com
Want closure immediately! So much happened in this book - the plot was labyrinthine in its twists and turns. The kicker at the end. Gah!!!!

Wow! Great continuation of Reaping me Softly! I hate to admit it, but I actually *did* like Balthazar and all of his evil ways! It's nice to see the POV of the bad guy and connect with him the way a reader usually would with the good guy! Can't wait for the next in the series!

I thought it was a fun little adventure. Sometimes the dialogue was a little childish but I overall liked the story and would like to know how the story ends. I especially liked Balthazar I hope he becomes a good guy in the next book. Can't wait for book 3!
