My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 stars - I loved it!!

This book was a pleasant surprise because the cover usually clues me into something, but this one not at all. I totally was sucked into Anna’s new world. I loved everything about this book; it sort of reminds me of Christine Feehan’s Dark (Carpathians) series. I love that she is a strong woman who won’t put up with being told what to do and thinks for herself. This book has intrigue, betrayal, mystery, and I could not put the story down and can’t wait to get the next book once I catch up on my reading pile :)

I received a copy of this book as a R2R. I rate this book as 3.5-4 stars and give it 4 stars on here. One note - whether this was a choice by the author or the publisher or a glitch my copy of this book was all in italics and this irriated my eyes and my brain; however, I did not let that influence my review.

This book is about the prophecy of a Female Nephilium Warrior that will come to them as an adult and unite the two warring factions of their race. For those who don't know, a Nephilium is a child of both God and man and are purported to be the offspring of an angel and human mating. Many believe that they are on this earth to protect humans from Evil.

We meet our heroine Anna on the worst day of her life - the day of the funeral for her husband of 10 years, Joe. We watch Anna struggle through the day - to a funeral her husband never wanted - and as she sees his body she has a vision of his death. His death at the hands of a creature with glowing red eyes. At this moment the "life she was born to live collided with the life she was living" and Anna's perception and reality break wide open.

We meet our "hero" Eli on this same day. Anna sees him and is strangely and scarily drawn to him in a way she cannot explain. It is this attraction, this strange trust, that begins Anna's "fall down the rabbit hole [to borrow a famed expression]" thus begins her transition into the paranormal world; a world she was born for.

I did find the establishing of relationships quite sudden - whether this was due to the length of the book or a deliberate choice by the author, for me the rapport established seemed a litte rushed. Having said that, the relationships and secondary characters that the author introduces are fascinating and I am looking forward to more history as well as more of their lives as the series continues on - there is already a second book available.

Anna's transition to her place in this new world is fascinating to watch, confusing and exhilerating to her and also provides the reader a look into the paranormal world this author creates. The more Anna learns the more we learn and both benefit.

As the book ends Anna is faced with a decision that will change both her and her world forever and leaves us with questions about her, her accepatance of her place in her world and the future.

I enjoyed this book and this author's ideas for her paranormal world and how her creatures live and interact within it. I am definetely going to read and enjoy the second book and continue with Anna down this road. I recommend this book to anyone who likes angels/Nephilium and paranormal worlds that live along side ours with the occasional overlap that intrigues those who live with their eyes open to the possible.

I have also been given the second book as an R2R so please come back and read my review of it when I am done - assuming GR behaves! lol

Yeah. I didn't finish. Read 'till page 37.

This storyline is told way too fast. Everything happens in the matter of moments instead of taking days maybe even weeks to let feelings, characters and certain events settle down. Seems like a race to get to the end.

The characters feel rushed as well. In 30 pages, Anna (the main character) goes from a fragile widow who can't even contemplate living without her husband to a lusty woman that can't control herself near Eli. She goes from thinking she's crazy and imagining things to simply accept everything she's told in 10 seconds flat. It's way too unrealistic for my tastes. Eli has no depth. He's portrayed as a out of control warrior with a possessive streak.
Elise seemed nice but also out of character, unfinished. In fact it was the same sensation I had for everyone in this book.

I also found a lot of writing errors, repetitions and the likes. I advise some serious revision work. I was given the most recent revised copy by the author and I gotta say I didn't see many improvements. I liked the main idea though, it has real potential.

In my opinion, it would be a great success if the author took more time working on details, descriptions, time-line and orthographic errors.

I read this book specifically for review, but I soon was drawn into the action and forgot that I was supposed to be reviewing in my head as I went along. :)

This story opens with Anna, a young widow, having to prepare for her husband's funeral. I wasn't sure what to expect. Often reading about grief is a depressing thing, but the action moved the book right along. You see, Anna isn't quite what she's always believed she was. Not a typical housewife. She's always been a bit different from her family and friends, and it isn't until she goes away with Eli, a mysterious and handsome stranger, that she comes to know how different she is.

I don't want to give spoilers, but from the series title you can guess this is about angels, and Anna is one of their females who was placed with a human family at birth to protect her from demons--the same demons who murdered her husband. Eli has come to bring her back to her true people, the nephilim.

A few things I didn't like so well:
I thought Anna was physically attracted to Eli far too soon after being widowed. They were rolling on the floor groping each other very soon after Anna went to the nephilim hide out. Eli's part in this didn't bother me as much because he hadn't lost a spouse only weeks before. At times I felt there was a lot more telling than showing, and that made me feel distant from the characters and the action. There were some grammatical and editing errors. They were minor enough that they didn't bother me much.

Things I did like:
The world building was fresh and innovative. Instead of the more common vampires and werewolves, the author has created something more unusual. I liked that the action mostly moved right along, not leaving the reader to plod through pages and pages of description and boring inner dialogue. Another aspect of the story that I enjoyed were the relationships that developed between characters. Which brings me to the characters themselves. Elise, Eli, Nyoka and Torch (among others) are interesting and made me want to know more about them.

Favorite Lines “You always know and accept that life ends in death, but you also believe that you have more time than you truly do”

“I always heard tears were healing. With as many as I had cried, I should be the healthiest woman alive.”

“Van, what we are about to do to you next could cause you to get extremely loud. I’m going to have to put a magical gag ball in your mouth, so we don’t attract attention.”

“We could host our own show: The Nephilim Bachelorette. We could even throw in a few other warriors, just for the hell of it, and whoever is alive at the end of the show becomes the winner.”

Wow I can't imagine what this woman is going thru! Young easily sucked you in to her world!

This started as a heart touching story, when Anna is deep in loss over her husband death. And Eli enter her
World and tell her that her whole was a lie.
As first she is confused then mad, but along the way she becomes power hungry.
This is a case of to much to fast for me, but overall it a good read.

It's filled with weres, vampires and all the things that hide in the dark

I originally got this book because it was free and sounded like a book that was right up my alley. Let me tell you it definitely is a great book to read and I couldn’t put it down. Especially since this is the first book that I have read that dealt with Nephilim type characters. So when I knew this was going to be a part of a series I was happy. The author has taken “housewife” Anna and has her whole world turned upside down as she’s known it; even though she has always thought something was different about herself but always tried to keep it on the back burner. That is until that unfortunate incident where she learns reasons behind it.
You soon find out why the book is named Prophecy of the female Warrior and that Anna is actually a Nephilim Warrior. I enjoyed reading this book, who does not love books that have to do with warriors of any kind. In this book your reading about an offspring of a very interesting mating. Talk about mating, there are some great hot scenes in this book!
The author did an excellent job with the flow of the story and the plot details. She not only had a great story but she also had a strong relationship struggle and action which added more friction in the story. As the story ends for the first book, there are questions I was asking myself; but, the good thing is book 2 and 3 are already out so I didn’t have to wait to keep reading. If you love paranormal reads then I think you should definitely give this great read a try. I think that I will definitely keep my eyes open for more books by K.A Young!! And the best part is you can try the first book out for FREE.

The author of this book offered a free copy in exchange for a review. I wasn't expecting much, but was willing to keep an open mind. Imagine my surprise when after reading the first few paragraphs; I was completely hooked.

When the story begins Anna is just a suburban housewife dealing with one of the hardest moments of her life so far. She is surrounded by family but something has always been off. She has always had mild psychic ability that has mainly been a source of embarrassment for her. Suddenly after tragedy she is racked with unbelievable visions of things that can't exist. Eli, a mysterious stranger, vows to protect and introduce her to a world she has never known.

What earns this book a 5 star review is the writing style. The writer is a great world builder but her grasp of real human emotions and character motivation is the force moving this story. If you are a fan of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series give this book a try.

This book started out sad but I was intrigued by the stranger in the graveyard. The leading lady seems weak in the beginning but by the end she has grown emotionally and is one tough chic. Even after reading it, I'm not sure which brother is the good one so it is definitely series material and you'll have to read more books to get a better picture. It seemed to have a slight twist like Vampire Diaries with the brothers battling for the attention of the female, only more vindictive due to the curse/spell. With all the battles and intrigue leading up to the end, when the end finally came it left me thinking to myself, huh, that's it? I mean, you have these big strong alpha males who just roll over belly up in the end? Very anti-climatic. Leading up to the sex scene there is a lot of sexual tension built but when the event occurs it is more of a "wham bam thank you mam" event, he's mad and seemed he was only using her. Even though I only rated it a three star I would still read the series because it's like a soap opera, I have to see which brother wins the girl.

I have to admit that some of the antics she gets into with her friend had me outright laughing, saying, "you go girl!"

This book was a gift from the author and my comments are true based on my opinion alone.

3 and 1/2 stars. I really did love the story line but would have liked more description, the ending was too quick.... I am myself torn between Eli and Nyoka, they have both done some disturbing things, Eli to his brother and Nyoka to Anna.....I do want to find out where this will all end. I enjoyed Torch and Elise's characters very much and would love to see more of them in the next book (which i will read). I am not very fond of the style of Anna telling us what is going on, would prefer more of a "story telling" style with dialogue. I wish you well Ms Young, your imagination is on fire, keep it coming!

A melodramtic soap opera from beginning to end. A three star effort through much of it, but it pulled close enough to four stars by the end to rate it such.

I suppose I would recommend it to those who like soap opera paranormal romances. As to whether or not I will continue reading the series, I do not, at the moment, know. A little too soap operay for me and I'm not really sure I want to learn more about this world.

I loved this book!
Anna was a great protag. So strong and independent. I loved how she matured and grew into her role.
And the boys... ohh goodness! I really hope there is a second book because I want to know who she chooses! But I can totally see the author leaving it like that, where we kinda have to decide whom we think she would end up with.

I really liked this book! Anna's journey from housewife to warrior and queen of the nephilim was excited. I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn't put it down! I loved all the alpha males! Eli and Nyoka were hot! I don't know how Anna will ever choose between them! Can't wait to read what happens next for Anna in book 2!

Good Story but Lots of Nonsense

*****Spoilers*****

The story was interesting and kept me turning pages to find out what happened next. Anna was a little ridiculous though. I found myself laughing at something she does or says or occurs that's completely nonsensical. She goes from a meek woman who wouldn't stand up to her mother in law about holding a funeral for her dead husband to a commanding a** kicker who doesn't take sh** in a few pages. Hunh? She's angry and abrupt at times for no reason and I really couldn't understand why she left Don to go with Eli initially. Some creeper you met at the cemetery who showed up at your house which is the full extent of your acquaintance versus your husband of ten year's brother whom you know and trust.

The scheme Anna cooks up to leave Eli's compound is ridiculous. For one, she uses her sexuality to evade her guard but judges him for falling for it because he's led by his penis. Right. Then the fact that she goes to get sister's house to pin a letter to her sister's refrigerator. This after being advised the enemy could trace Anna to her family because of her scent. I mean, does the sister not have a mailbox?!! Sheesh.

Queue kidnapping of previously mentioned sister and another instance of Anna sneaking off on her own. Turns out, the guy who showed up in her warrior walk is Eli's fraternal twin brother. I figured his identity just before it was revealed. Oh and apparently Anna is the last female warrior in this prophecy and is supposed to do great things as Queen. First order of business was to unite the two factions of nephilim, including the waring brothers just by asking them to pledge to her. Just ridiculous to me. They both want her, both claim a bond to her, and she has an out of control libido. I actually think it would have made the book better had she slept with both of the brothers instead of just Eli. Sampling the wares and all that so that she has more information to help in her decision as to which one she will choose. Then there's her husband's brother who was secretly in love with Anna and turned himself into a vampire to try and protect her. But leading up to that, he's busy calling the nephilim freaks. Ummm, yeah. This is an instance where I laughed out loud at the nonsense.

Fantastic

I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought J would and now I’m upset that I didn’t read this book when I had first bought it 8 years ago. I have a really bad habit of just collecting books and never actually reading them. I loved that this books really took me by surprise, the only thing I was accurately able to guess was Dan’s true feelings, but that was made abundantly obvious in the very beginning of the book. Eli and Nyoka took me for a ride and I still don’t know who I like better. On the one hand Eli is the super hot alpha-type protector but sometimes maybe too alpha-y? But on the other Nyoka is more level-headed, playful and charming. Yet that could just be me falling for the villain as per usual, since it’s also clear he’s definitely the antagonist of the story. I have a real problem with liking bad characters that I’m not supposed to like but I’m seriously rooting for this guy right now.
Elisa was my absolute favorite. Funny as hell.
Another thing I really liked but I’m not sure was intentional or not I’d how similar Anna’s character is to a Valkyrie. She gives off a total badass warrior vibe but also doesn’t take away from her femininity at all. And she’s clearly compassionate and cares about her cause, reminding me of a lot of those old stories of Valkyries on the battle field. The ONE thing that needs work is the editing. Specifically between 20% and 75% of the book. There are some errors there such as incomplete or duplicate sentence pieces and one instance that I believe to be a misplaced name that caused a lot of confusion for me. All in all, absolutely loved and definitely recommend.

That was a fun quick read. :-)

Development of our main character, Anna from "normal" housewife to Nephilim warrior was nice and fun to read ( I do like my lading ladies to be strong, intelligent women, although I found her mechanism for dealing with terrifying situations, i.e. laughing/giggling, sadly reminded me of pre-11 year old children which sorta took the edge off a bit).

For me, the plot took a very expected course, the romantic entanglements/triangles/relationships are plentiful but I still enjoyed the journey and was happy that the ending was not a huge gaping cliffhanger ( I hate it when that happens, I akin cliffhangers to literary blackmail).

So in short; the humour had me chuckling (I did like best friend, Elise), the grief made me shed a tear and the sexual tension/exploits got me very hot under the collar.

Annabelle has been living as a human for the past 34 years not knowing how special she really is. The day she buries her husband she is drawn to a complete stranger who tells her that he is there to protect her. The thing is he only tells her half truths. She befriends a Nephilim sorceress who tells her everything about the prophecy that involves her. She takes off to rescue her sister from another Nephilim warrior and realizes she has a strong attachment to him too. In the end your left hanging as all the warriors pledge their lives tho her but she still has to choose her mate.

A fantastic tale of a young widow, devastated from the sudden death of her husband. She will soon find out not everything is as it seems, including herself. A quick read with lots of action and adventure with a little bit of erotica to keep things spicy.

Fantasy

I loved that this was an adult fantasy but there were a few things I couldn't tolerate. Why do writers think sexual assault is romantic? I already hated Eli but after that I skimmed through the book. Great writing and plot but the romance and Eli made it a hard read.

Very Good!

This book has fast paced action & a good vs bad story. It also had a few sexual scenes but no straight sex scenes.

In this book Anna, who the Prophecy is about has to begin a new kind of life & finds some new friends along the way. On to the next book.

I Liked this series so much I read it in less than 4 days!!!

If you are looking for a Paranormal Romance series that is pretty damn good and makes you want to stay awake until the end of the series. Well, this is the series for you! I know it was for me! There are twisty plots and some drama in this series but it flows well. Somethings you will not even expect. I recommend reading the whole series not just one of the books and that is why I am doing this review for the series as a whole instead of for each individual book!

I really did enjoy this book and found myself caught up at times so much that I did not want to tear my eyes away. So, I give it a solid 3 stars because even though I did enjoy the book I took issue with a few things and maybe I was expecting a full-length novel when this was only meant to be a novella. Even in spite of that, K.A. Young has a great writing style and I will indeed read book 2 and more by her. am just hoping they won’t all be so fast paced.

In Prophecy of the Female Warrior, K.A. Young did not waste time with a lot of trivial nonsense. The book opens with the protagonist, Anna/Annabelle, preparing for her husband, Joe’s funeral with the assistance of her sister, Julie. Shortly after the funeral the story is kicked into high gear and kept on climbing. There never appeared to be a balance or steady even pace, which is not a good thing, but definitely not a bad thing.

When Anna approached the large stranger at the cemetery after the burial, I found that to be a little unbelievable only because how many women approach strange men when they are quite a ways from anyone who may help them in case trouble ensued? The way she could barely tear her gaze from him was just rather fast for me seeing as though she buried her husband only moments before even seeing the large man.

My second area of concern was how quickly Dan, her brother-in-law made a move on her when his brother had not been dead for even two weeks. Do men really carry on that way? I felt like she should have been able to truly have a good amount of time to grieve before forming any new attachments or attractions to anyone but that did not happen here. As you read the book you will see that she was a hot little number and controlling her lusts was not something that was too easy for her, even though she just buried her husband of 10 years.

Anna embraced accepting who she was and the fact that she was actually from another world way too quickly. Also, learning about who the strange man was, why he was watching her and about the yetzer hara and the other dangers that were lurking around what seemed to be every corner all happened at lightening speed. Yes, she did offer slight protests and even questioned herself from time-to-time, but she still kept on rolling with it was not the most believable.

What I loved about the book was that it was filled with action and you could not get bored. It was definitely a quick and easy read, which is probably the issue for me. While I enjoyed the white-hot passion and sizzling love scenes, I only wish the pace was a little slower, more like a gradual buildup to an exploding climax. Instead, I felt like I was on a whirlwind speed-reading trip.

I do believe that K.A. did a good job in fleshing out the main characters, but I would have loved to know more about the secondary characters like Elise, Van and Torch. They played a huge role in the book. And what happened to her sister, Julie? The way Anna just let the relationship with her sister sort of fall to the wayside was not something I can see happening. They were very, very close and you don’t just walk away from that no matter what. She could still embrace who she really was while having a relationship with Julie. How does one just let that slip?

Maybe the next book will offer a more moderate pace. I am looking forward to reading it.

This was a free book and I'm glad that I downloaded it. Annabelle (Anna) Wilkins is grieving the loss of her husband Joe who has died suddenly from a brain aneurysm. When she says goodbye to Joe in his casket, she touches him and instantly sees the last few moments of his life and in particular, the monster that killed him. At the graveside during his funeral, she sees a stranger in the background who seems familiar even though she knows that she hasn’t seen him before. After the funeral service, she makes her way over to him and when he speaks to her, she again feels that she should know him. He introduces himself as Eli and tells her that she doesn’t need to fear him. Her brother-in-law Dan (Joe’s brother) interrupts their brief conversation and takes Anna home. He also decides to stay until she is over the worst of her grief. A few days later whilst in town, Anna sees another ‘monster’. In her attempt to flee, she runs straight into Dan who had been clearing Joe’s desk scattering the contents of the box he was carrying. They are then interrupted by Dan’s girlfriend who asks him to help her carry her shopping bags to her car. When they walk away, she suddenly becomes aware of someone standing next to her. Before she can do anything, he pulls her into his arms and in a gentle whisper, asks her not to be afraid of him. He tells her his name and that he is there to protect her. He also calls her by her given name of Annabelle and asks her to leave with him as he has much to tell her. While weighing up whether she should leave with him, he tells her that he knows who and what killed Joe. Making up her mind to leave with him, Eli carries her to her car and drives her to his compound.

Over the next month at the compound, Anna learns that she isn’t human but is, in fact, Nephilim. Not just any Nephilim but the last female warrior who is also the Nephilim Queen. The King is her mate but unfortunately she doesn’t know who her mate is. All she knows is that her mate is one of the Nephilim warriors Eli and Nyoka, who are not only brothers, but twin brothers who are estranged. She learns that the monster that killed Joe was a Yetzer Hara and Eli believes they were working on the orders of Nyoka. She also learns about the ancient prophecy in which she unites the Nephilim people and rules over them with her King…. So no pressure there then! When Anna manages to escape Eli’s compound, she is captured by Nyoka who takes her back to his compound. Unlike Eli who surrounds himself with warriors, Nyoka has a pack of werewolves who are loyal to him and he tells Anna that he only wants the chance to prove to her that he may be her mate and not Eli.

I’ll be honest. I wouldn’t want to be Anna as it’s too much like hard work! Not only was she a part of a romantic triangle with two brothers in the human world but it becomes clear to her that she is involved in a 2nd romantic triangle involving two brothers in the immortal world! The book ends with Anna taking up her position as Queen but no decision has been made as to who her King is. Nor do we find out why Joe was killed. I guess you’ll just have to read the next book to find out why.

Synopsis

Anna Wilkins is a prototypical housewife. She buys groceries, picks up the dry cleaning and hosts dinner parties. Everything was picture perfect from the outside looking in until the life she was born to live collided with the life she was living. Her husband is murdered by a creature from another realm, a creature that is only visible to her. Through her pain, his death awakens a part of her she didn't know existed. She is then thrust into a life of Vampires, Werewolves and Sexy Nephilim Warriors.

Drawn to her by a bond as old as their race, a Nephilim Warrior named Eli finds Anna at her darkest hour and seeks to arouse what lies dormant within her. The scorching sexual attraction she and the Warrior feel for each other is beyond anything either of them can control. Struggling to find her way; her body betrays her mind as she transitions from human to a supernatural being.

Her greatest challenge will be to determine whether she should trust what she is told that she should be or to rely on her own instincts and allow herself to shape who she will be.

What I liked

I enjoy most of the nephilim related books, so this one was pretty exciting read for me. The story line was very catching and I wasn't able to put this book down, once I started reading it.
Without giving too much away, I have to say that the love triangle in this book really took me by surprise. I like Anna, she's well developed character as well as Elise (Although I wish that she had been mentioned more in the book). I was changing my opinion on Eli and Nyoka in this book so often, that I don't even know what to think now about them. It's really nice to read something different nowadays, not just a simple love story.

What I didn't like

Even though I enjoyed this book a lot, I felt like the story was rushed. To me it seemed like that the book could be longer. I think that there should have been more descriptions and dialogues.
One more thing that I didn't dig completely about this book is the cover. I know that many people buy books based just on how the cover looks. I don't think that this cover makes justice to this awesomeness at all, so I wish that the cover was a little different and more eye catching (but that's just my personal preference).

Overall Thought

As I said before, I enjoyed this book a lot. I think it's very well written; it did't lack originality or interesting twists. The story cached me from the first page, and after finishing this book I immediately had to buy a sequel.
I would recommend this book to my friends and all of you that like niphilim based stories or any type of heroic, fighting, paranormal books.

Prophecy of the Female Warrior is the first book in the series by K.A. Young.

***May contain minor spoilers***

The story starts with the funeral of Joe, Anna’s dear husband, where she finds by touching his corpse that his death wasn’t what it looked like. After the funeral and several days after she feels observed and followed. Her sister, Julie tries to cheer her up and Dan, Joe’s brother, is worried about her and acts a bit too protective.

Eli is a very tall, full of secrets, sexy warrior, that with his calming voice and his beautiful eyes, convinces Anna to fallow him to his house where she discovers and becomes what she really is, while step by step they become close and intimate. Their moments together are hot!

Elise becomes her best friend and tries to help her in whatever she can, giving her protection, advice and even helps her seduce her bodyguard in order to leave.

My favorite character is Torch! He’s hot, funny, (he’s embarrassing moments reminds me somehow of Rhage from the BDB series by J.R. Ward) he’s also a warrior and he’s Anna’s personal defensive and fight trainer.

All that fight and power goes up Anna’s head and she thinks she is invincible and she can treat people disrespectfully.

Nyoka has somehow double personality, one hand he’s evil incarnate and on the other hand, he’s like an educated aristocrat that would give, say, and behave correctly and do for you whatever you desire with the condition to spend time with him.

The book turns into a love triangle between Anna, Eli and Nyoka that leaves us wanting to know who Anna will choose to mate with…I hope we’ll find out in the next book.

Prophecy of the Female Warrior contains too many hot and beautiful nephilim warriors, steamy sex scenes, nice fight moves, monsters, werewolves, vampires and other creatures of the night that is better not to know them and left me with the strange urge to drink that ‘magical’ tasty water.

The second book in the series is Destiny Of The Female Warrior and I cannot wait to find out what will happen next!

Note: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
