The illustrations are bright and colorful and the story follows the tale of Aurora (Briar Rose) and how she is cursed by the evil fairy because she was not invited to her party. The three good fairies take her into the woods for her protection until her 16th birthday, but unfortunately they bring her back a day early. The story is slightly different from the original Sleeping Beauty because only Aurora falls asleep when she pricks her finger and the prince has to fight a dragon to get to her. The story is made into more about the hero than it is about the story of the curse.

Sleeping Beauty is a kind of historical book, because the time of this book dose not show very clearly. It is also is a friction book, there are many magic elements inside this book. For example, the witch gave a curse to make Sleeping Beauty sleep all the time. It also is a love story. The King ordered to destroy all textile cars to avoid Sleeping Beauty to sleep.
There are many versions of Sleeping Beauty. This book is the oldest version. There are some different between the oldest version to the later version. Sleeping Beauty has a prophecy not a curse for herself. The Prince did not kiss her to wake her up, the Prince raped her and make her pregnant. Thus, Sleeping Beauty's babies help her to wake up.
I know there are many differences. But the oldest version is more closer to the truth. At least, this is my opinion.

Interesting and prepossessing story. This shows how powerful love is, so strong that it can break a spell from the most evil witch with just one kiss from one true love.

Full of toxic messages. Watch Maleficent (2014) and compare the contrasting messages. You will be surprised.

A childless king and queen have their wish for a baby granted when the queen saves a lowly fish from dying. The couple throws a feast in celebration and appreciation for the gift of their new daughter - Briar Rose - but make the mistake of leaving one of the kingdom's thirteen fairies off the guest list. This thirteenth fairy comes to the feast and curses Briar Rose that come her fifteenth year she will be wounded by a spindle and die. One of the other fairies is able to soften the curse, dooming Sleeping Beauty only to a hundred years sleep. the genre of this book would be fairytale and fantasy. the format of this book is a picture book. the reading level for this book would be middle level elementary students. this book is more of a fun book for students to read but they could make a poster of the literary elements. the theme of this book is a fairytale. i think girls will enjoy this book more but any race and socioeconomic status would enjoy this book.

Forgot how many plot twists were involved in this bad boi. Great stuff all around. The character design for all of the characters, down to the animals, is so perfectly done. Magical illustration and beautiful detail as always.

The classic story of the evil witch Maleficient to curse Princess Aurora. All because the parents of Aurora don't invite Malicient, she curses the child before her first birthday. Her curse has the princess to die on her sixteenth birthday from a spinning wheel. Thanks to Aurora's fairies, she's taken care of until her birthday comes around. They couldn't go and save her in time but she only falls into a deep sleep. The only way that the curse to be broken is for her prince to get her first and try love's kiss. She of course gets herself free because the prince battles against the evil Maleficent and they live happily ever after. The illustrations are used with the use of traditional artwork and watercolors that are more erie than cheerful.

As a fairy tale, it has been modified several times to fit the times. With the Disney version, kids see the princess to be saved from the evil curse and get a prince. I do see that in the original version the story of Sleeping Beauty was more saddening with her getting pregnant with twins. That version was sad so that is seen far from comparison since children don't want their favorite characters getting harmed. The language of the story was adapted to today's common language since Disney adapted the story on its own terms and the retelling is soft from its original version. I don't really like the story of Sleeping Beauty- even when I was younger- because it's more of an unfortunate story.

Disney’s sleeping beauty was adapted by Michael Teitelbaum and illustrated by Sue DiCicco and was published in 1997. This is a picture book and is for ages 7 and up.

Aurora is cursed by Maleficent to die, but the blue fairy modifies the curse to become a sleeping curse. Prince Phillip has to save the day.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. This is one of my favorite Disney stories, but I guess I haven’t watched the movie in a while. This is another classic tale of a girl needing a man to come and save her. The story is good, the illustrations look just like the movie, so it makes it easier for the children to follow along while reading the book. It is a bit dark with the killing curse so I wouldn’t let young readers read this book. I would read this to my own children once they got older, but I think it is to dark to have in a classroom. While Prince Phillip fighting a dragon, well anyone fighting a dragon is exciting, I love dragons, I just do not think parents would be to happy with this being in a classroom,

This is a story about a princess born and given a curse. A fairy was not invited to the celebrattion, so when she crashed the party, she put a curse on the princess. The curse was if she touched a spinning wheel, she would die. Another fairy offered to help by only making her sleep for a hundred years. On her fifteenth birthday, her parents through anouther celebration because she was still alive. But when the princess went wandering through the castle, she stumbled across the evil fairy disgused as an old woman on a spinnign wheel. The princess pricked her finger and the entire kingdom fell asleep for one hundred years. Many tried to get in but couldn't. One day a prince was able and gave a princess a kiss, waking her and the whole kingdom. The party continued and they lived happily ever after.

This traditional tale of a young girl who seeks her 'Prince Charming' as her malicious stepmother tries to stop her daughter from finding her one true love, a common pattern shown through this is the power of love and family. The theme of saving one with a true love's kiss reminds me of the similar fairytale, "Snow-White and The Seven Dwarfs", as she is also searching for her true love to be with for a longing amount of time. Children would engage their mind and refer to themselves in this, as this story encourages inspiration and passion to spiral through a child's imagination. This classic fairytal would definitely be recommended for a young audience.

I always like the thought of reading students' stories of the movies they have probably watched at home, because i believe it would keep their interest, and have them know there are other ways to consume the story without just looking at a screen. This is one of my favorite Disney movies which is why i chose this one, but any disney book could work. It could be a fun activity to have the students vote on their favorite disney movie, then i read the book to them, and then we also watch the movie! this would be good i believe for prek or kindergarden.

For the self-selected fairy tale book I chose "Disney's Sleeping Beauty" because it is a book that my mom would read to my sister and I every week. After reading it again I was reminded of how well it was written and how mesmerizing the illustrations were. My favorite things about fairy tale books is how creative they are and the stories that they tell. They offer pieces of hope, love, promise, and happiness at the end of every story.

It's no surprise that I am a HUGE Disney geek/fanatic! This book is published by the official Disney Company (Mouseworks, etc.), but I love how it captures the beautiful illustrations and plot of the movie that so many millennials like me know and love. What's more, these are perfect to pass down and share with younger generations, and even boys love it because of the dragon and Prince's wicked sword skills.

This is a great book to summarize the fantasy genre. It would be most suitable for K through fourth grade. It just really encompasses what fantasy and fairytales is all about. It's about a prince that saves the princess from doom. It's lighthearted at the end where he saves the day and everything goes back to normal.

The classic story of sleeping beauty is a part of most little girls childhoods. The magic and enchantment make the story fun to read. It’s a little girls dream to be a princess and with this book, they can read the story that will take them to a faraway land where they will experience what it would be like to be a princess.

The Disney Sleeping Beauty is way different than the original folk tale. In the original Sleeping Beauty, the king forced himself on the princess. Of course, Disney is not going to show that to young children so they “clean it up” a bit, if you will. I personally like the Disney tale better because it is a happier topic.

While out in the woods one day she meets Philip, the prince, of the neighboring community and they fall in love. In the end, Aurora is put into a sleeping spell and only Philip can save her.

I always remembered that the dragon protecting the princess was there from the start. I think I remember it wrong.

It's sad, when all the good fairies doing went into nothingness. If only Kind Stefan knew Maleficent's curse would still be fulfilled maybe he'd refuse good fairies' plan and kept the princess by his side.

As a small child I received a book of the month gift. It was always a picture book that was 30 to 40 pages long, and based on a Disney animated classic. This was one of the books I received. It isn’t as good as the animated feature, of course, but the Disney art and storytelling are there, and it made these books enjoyable. Now I have a 3 year old granddaughter who finds this magical.
