Jack Sigler, call sign “King,” field leader for a black ops organization known as Endgame, is accustomed to feeling capable of handling most any situation. It is a confidence forged in the fires of battle against both monsters and madmen. But the introduction of Asya, a sister he never knew existed, and the kidnapping of his parents has him reeling. Using Endgame’s resources, King and his Chess Team (Queen, Rook, Bishop, and Knight) scour the planet for his parents, tracking a man known to the world as Alexander Diotrephes, but known to King by another name. A masked man walks past their secret headquarters’ defenses, sits himself down in the director’s chair, and waits. He’s Richard Ridley, the team’s oldest and most dangerous enemy, who is supposed to be dead. But he isn’t Ridley. He is a clone in search of his master, the real Ridley, who yet lives and is being held captive by the same man that is holding King’s parents.

Picking up right where RAGNAROK leaves us, we think we know what is coming. Particularly with a title like OMEGA, you're expecting an ending.
And an ending you get. But it is NOT going to be one you see coming.
Along the way, you get classic CHESS TEAM level kicking of ass. You get old bad guys. You get a couple of new ones. You get old friends. You get new ones. You get old players switching teams.
And in the end, you get...
an end.
Jeremy and Kane throw plenty of loops in that were not expected, as well as a couple of kick ass scenes that are. One fight that you know is coming you do indeed get - but not in the way you expect. One fight that you expect gets one of the players changed - and quite possibly becomes a bit cooler because of it, particularly due to the setup of this particular fight in some regards.
Long time fans may be torn by how this plays out - I know I am. But it is absolutely one of the best books out there and deserving of the full 5 stars and then some. Read this book and you'll see what I mean about the stars, and possibly understand why I am torn. But then, long time fans are already going to pick this up. For people considering Jeremy and the CHESS TEAM, I'll say this: Go ahead and buy every single one of them. You'll want them available as you finish them. Then read them in the order they were published: PULSE, INSTINCT, THRESHOLD, the CALLSIGN novellas, PRIME, OMEGA. You will be in for the ride of your life!
Such a great Chess Team adventure! I loved discovering the backstory for Alexander, and there were some awesome creatures in this story. On to more Chess Team!
Omega is the epitome of what a good action/adventure novel should be. This is the Chess Team novel all the others have been leading to. It is done right! I've been reading a lot of Jeremy Robinson's books lately, especially all the Chess Teams. Once I started with Prime, I had to read them all. Omega was worth the wait! An Epic end to an Epic storyline. I've loved every one of the previous novels, yes, some more than others, but they are altogether one big, fantastic story-like watching a TV series on Netflix from start to finish, and this is the "series finale" that most shows never get. But it's not even the end!!!!! There's more books coming! This is good. So is Omega. Read at least the previous 6 novels first, but if you want the full story, read em all with the novellas in the middle. It goes: 1. Prime 2. Pulse 3. Instinct 4. Threshold 5. Call Sign novellas :5a King book 1, 5b Queen, 5c Rook, 5d Bishop, 5e Knight, 5f King book 2: Underworld, 5g Deep Blue, 5h King book 3: Blackout (King books available as Brainstorm trilogy) 6. Ragnarok 7. Omega That's a lot, I know. I was intimidated too. But so is watching 7 seasons of a TV. Same thing almost. And after Omega, which you should DEFINITELY BUY when you are caught up, you will be left wanting more just like me. And that's not really a bad thing!
I loved it!! What a great story, full of tons of action, and twists you don't see coming. I won't give away any of the plot as I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it. But I will say, you are in for a wild, fun ride! I could not put the book down (as I sit here at 3am just having finished it). I can't wait to begin the next adventure in the series.
HMMM . . . I HAVE BEEN READING ROBINSON AND CO-AUTHORS FOR YEARS, AND I DO BELIEVE "OMEGA" TOPS THE CAKE :) :) :)
THRILLS AND CHILLS RUN AMOK INTHIS HEART-PULSING READ AND I WANT MORE ! ! ! HOW THESE AUTHORS DEVISE SUCH INGENIOUS PLOTS WITH SWITCHBACKS GALORE . . . MUST BE A GIFT FROM THE PLACE NO KNOWS EXISTS, EXCEPT THEM - UNFAIR . . . LOL.
i LOVE "OMEGA" AS I HAVE CHERISHED ALL OF HIS WORK, ALSO TO INCLUDE CO-AUTHORS THAT I AM NOW INVESTIGATING TO SEE IF THEIR BOOKS CAN STAND UP OR AT LEAST COME CLOSE TO THE CRAFT ROBINSON HAS MASTERED. :)
I MUST SAY . . . THE STORYLINE, DETAILS, A NEW CHARACTER, THE RETURN OF THE COMPLETE CALLSIGN TEAM, AN OLD ENEMY THAT KEEPS COMING BACK- LIKE A THORN IN THE SIDE, MERCENARIES, HONOR, DUTY, REVENGE, OTHER-WORLDLY HAPPENINGS AND THRILLS WHICH ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDS THE BOOKWORM THAT RESIDES IN ME . . . W O W . . . CAN IT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS???
FIVE EPHEMERAL STARS MR. ROBINSON AND MR. GILMOUR ! ! !
I am utterly speechless having finished this book! It was amazing!!! You would never expect where it takes you (well, I certainly didn't), and I'm thrilled to hear that Jeremy Robinson will continue to write more Chess Team adventures, as this one really wrapped up the storylines of the previous books. I've always loved Rook and his sense of humour, but this time around, Jack and Alexander win the comedy award; many of their scenes together reminiscent of a good buddy cop movie. I can honestly say that this was the BEST Chess Team book so far - the only one to make me laugh, cry and have to remind myself to breathe. Awesome awesome work, Mr Robinson and Mr Gilmour - just awesome!!!! (Originally read 25/09/2013)
Re-read via audible 05/06/2014 - Even better listening to it, as it really brought the story and the characters to life!
Okay, I am glad this storyline is finally over. I must be one of the few that really did not enjoy this 5th Chess team thriller. I have read the 1st four stories, plus Prime, and a few of the novellas. I think number four was over the top, but then I read Prime and it seemed things were almost back to normal (as normal can get for the Chess team), BUT....this was just one big goofy story.
Making Jack into a time traveling superman was just the cherry on top. I was a Chess team fan, but now I am not so sure. I already have on my Kindle, and I will wait until I read that one to see if I want to continue on.
I must confess I cried at the end like I did when I finished the "Antarktos" saga. Long live KING..... Long live the chess team..... and of course Happy married life to.... You must read the book to know that, I don't want to give away any spoilers.... I would highly recommend the book to all the action-thriller fans and also to those who are looking for some romantic hits.
When I started Omega, I had only read one other book in the Jack Sigler series and I was not sure how this story could play out when it went somewhat fantastical. Jeremy Robinson and Kane Gilmour manage to expertly balance two worlds and now I need to read more from the Chess Team to get my fix of King.
Wow! I sure didn't see that coming! This was the most audacious Chess Team adventure yet and it was worth every page of the thrilling ride. It ties everything that you've learned in the prior books neatly together; now you just have to go along for the ride!
Absolutely amazing book!!! This is my favorite of the chess team books. This book has it all...time travel, action, history, love, fighting....everything you could ask for. Jeremy and Kane, you outdid yourself on this one! Thank you for a great series leading up to the best.
Omega the fifth ChessTeam book has been sitting in my “to read” list for years. Every time I tried to read it, something invariably came up. Whether it be life, or just another novel getting in the way. After nearly 3 years, the book is finally read and I can cross this one off my list...though it’s not with a lot of satisfaction.
Omega is, without a doubt, far superior to Ragnarok, this book’s predecessor, but that really goes to show just how horrible Ragnarok really is, not how good Omega is. If that’s confusing, let me just say that, as far as the ChessTeam novels go, I haven’t been all that excited with the last 2 because, honestly, they just haven’t been that good.
Like I said, Omega is much better than the last book in this series, but it’s still not...great. The series already jumped the shark in Ragnarok so it’s already been on a downward spiral. In Omega, the story is definitely better, but it still suffers so many problems that plagued the last one: A plot that’s a struggle to understand, a enemy who’s usefulness wore out 3 books ago and that’s been used far too long, action scenes that would probably look gorgeous and downright orgasmic on the big screen feel to drawn out and too overwritten. I’ll say that Robinson and Gilmour were able to halt the rambling mess that the series could have devolved into, however Omega feels more like a stopgap than anything else. It’s damage control but not a complete fix.
In closing, this book is nearly 7 years old, and (in 2019) Robinson has had a resurrection/resurgence of late, so to me, I’m not too upset with Omega. Plus, the 3 Continuum novels that followed this book actually helped make things clear and understandable.
This books was a little over the top. I like the plots and the themes, but sometimes Robinson can cross the line into corny. When the book ended I couldn't help but picture King standing at the prow of a ship with one leg up in Captain Morgan pose and his long flowing hair blowing in the wind Fabio style as he kissed the woman he waited 2,000 years for. (Eye Roll)
All of that aside, Robinson does a great job of generating plots and ideas. He's worth reading if this is your genre just for that.
This was much better than Ragnarok. I was very skeptical about this one after how bad I thought the previous novel was but I was surprised. It ties everything up and acts as a reset to the franchise but it was entertaining. I found it to be a bit predictable and the fight scenes did tend to drag on a bit. All in all it was one of the better ones and I was upset to see some characters go but I am looking forward to where the author will go from here.
Jack Sigler, Callsign King, is back and this time he's not alone. Sigler teams up with the historic Hercules. This installment of the series explains about how Hercules has come to be. It also speaks to Jack's heritage. Lots of action and time travel in the typical "over the top style" of Jeremy Robinson. It does push the envelope of believeability even for this author. However I am looking forward to reading the three novellas that are spun off this time travel story.
What a slam bang finish to a 3 book story arc! Action was pretty much non-stop and the twists caught me by surprise time after time. Improbable, unreal and loads of fun. Be prepared to suspend belief on all fronts and just go along for the ride 'cause if you do the roller coaster ride is well worth the effort. Loved this book. Looking forward to starting the next entry in the series.
4am, and just finished Omega. Simply amazing, the best adventure of the chess team to date. Felt just like a Christmas dinner, fulfilling, rewarding and non stop giddiness. At last we have several answers and plot conclusions and an amazing twist. Could not put down until I had to finish the book in one sitting.
So.... time travel! I mean why not?! We have seen enough crazy stuff already. Why not throw in some time travel in the mix too? It takes a lot of planning to do that though. And I am really surprised that this series shows the signs of that. The story was as usual balls-to-the-wall action. As for the time-fuckery, just don't think too hard about it to enjoy it!
3.5 stars A different book that has Jack going back in time with H. Lots of action with a good story even with a shorter book. I would have liked a bit more back in the old times but that would have needed a longer book.
If you have read his other books you will be to busy reading his next book to read this. Non stop, unrelenting action , I kinda wish they were nt so good so I would take more time to read them. Great character's, creative story .
The Chess Team books are always a good time; as Robinson and Gilmour weave another mind blowing tale, King makes the hardest of sacrifices because "it is the right thing to do" and becomes one of the noblest characters ever.
The book is action packed with emotional ups and downs that will blow your mind. Everything I have come to expect from this Author. I have read the entire chess team series three times over the last several years and very much look forward to Kingdom when it comes out!
Loved this book, the Chess team novels are some of the best action adventure novels out there. Great cast of characters and an amazing story make this a very enjoyable read
