What will it take to destroy one of the Mighty? Rogue godlings are working toward that goal, since it will require all three to prevent the destruction of the universes.
Connie Suttle lives in Oklahoma with her husband and three cats.
Connie holds an MFA in Fine Art (film production and animation) and taught courses at the university level before moving on to bookstore management. Nowadays, if she isn't writing or editing, she's dreaming up her next book.
The characters drive me up the f^cking wall... ex*CUSE* me?!?! You're staying with the man who did THAT to you? Have you been lobotomized? No? Then you should be, for your own safety. This is like some crazy, nightmarish mash-up of the most horrific feminine stereotypes that I could possibly imagine. All the power in the world and the female main characters STILL take sh^t from the ones who CLAIM to care about them. "Woe, woe is me," they angst. Darlings you are not victims, you are VOLUNTEERS, kick the dirtbag to curb instead of crawling back to him for more. Don't just say no, *mean* it.
What I'm most bitter about is this: the writing's a cut above decent, the universe is fascinating, the plot flows, but these incredibly powerful women main characters aren't the least bit *EM*powered.
Short review - Just when you think it can't get any worse. Somehow Connie manages to read 50 shades of grey and learn all the wrong lessons on BDSM. The men continue to be jerks and women continue to be weak. I really do worry about Connie's emotional state if she considers the relationships in these books to be functional and healthy. The abuse the women suffer and forgive because, "Hes like really hot ya know?". I really can't wait for the end now so I can stop reading this junk.
SPOILERS THROUGHOUT: I was disappointed with this book. I absolutely loved the first book and I had such high hopes for this one. My hopes were dashed when the place, the time, and the characters were all changed. I will say though, that this book was fast paced and had many action packed scenes in it. Breanne was a little frustrating during this book. I felt like she was avoiding her problems by going back in time. She only showed up when she absolutely had to when some people really needed her. I also feel like a lot of the problems that happened in the future could have been avoided if she had been present. I will admit that I felt really bad for Breanne after hearing her story. No person deserves what she had to go through in her childhood. I really understand why she is distrustful of people and why she does most of what she does now. I hope that she can get over the trauma she suffered and grow into the person I know she can be. I don't like Jayson that much. I feel like Connie grazed over the fact that he spanked Breanne because he was frustrated with her. He did this without her consent resulting in her having a complete mental breakdown. What he did was NOT okay and I definitely do not agree with Breanne's decision to accept that it is a part of him and get over it. There is NO excuse to hit a woman (even if it is on her butt and not that hard) if she does not say it is okay. I feel like Jayson completely violated any trust Breanne had built with him and I more than a little outraged that Breanne got over it so quickly. Overall, I did enjoy this book. Although I was disappointed, I still have high hopes for this series. It has a lot of potential and I can only hope that the series will improve from here. Only time will tell, I guess. I will be continuing the series and I the await the next book.
Lissa and sister, Breanne, suffer from same problem. You could call it lack of boundaries, or low self-esteem, or being weak-willed. The difference between them being that Lissa had very little control in the beginning being susceptible to compulsion for a year, whereas Breanne repeatedly failed to assert her boundaries with Hank and Jayson. How many times did she say No and then give in to their wishes. How many times did she allow them in her house after demanding they leave her alone. I hope this weakness is explained in later books. Otherwise this book merely promotes the degradation of women and rolls back years of so many people's efforts to support equality and women's rights. And the supernatural soulmate explanation isn't really supported here. There's really no connection between Breanne and Jayson, and nearly nothing between her and Hank. I get that both of these women are powerful, but emotionally they are weak. Can we have a different female protagonist? One that doesn't suffer from the exact same maladies? This one is getting redundant.
I really don't understand Breanne. Why in the hell is she staying with these chumps? She gets spanked for disappearing? Do they think she's a child? What's with all the BDSM crap? All of a sudden the series turns into 50 Shades of Grey?
The bulk of the book can be summarized as thus: 1) Breanne is freaked out by the lifestyle of her stalkers. 2) She tells stalkers to leave her alone 3) Stalkers refuse to leave her alone, but reiterate that she has a choice. 4) They ignore her choice and pressure her accept their lifestyle that she has emphatically and repeatedly rejected. 5) Goto step 1.
I'm losing patience with these characters, and the main female characters of these series are too much alike in their acceptance of horrible, abusive treatment from the men they supposedly love.
I've invested a lot of time in these series and would like to see how things turn out, but my increasing frustration with Breanna, Reah, Lissa, and others might well overshadow that remaining spark of interest.
In the second book in this series, the heroine is still trying to get used to what she really is, and how to handle things. She also finds out that rogue gods are messing with the timeline, and things aren't looking so good, but she will do everything she can to help save lives.
This book was really good! I really enjoyed the heroine a whole lot, and the plot line was very interesting as well. I can't wait for more in this series now.
I would like to start with the fact that english is not my first language, so if I make some horrible grammatical error, please forgive me, this is my first review. Now, I would like to start by saying this book disappointed me. It's not that it is a bad one. I actually like the this author. The problem for me it's that I was hoping for something more. I started this book right after I finished the Blood Destiny series and I was so curious to see which direction the author would take Breanne. I was particularly intriged to see how she would handle Lissa and Breanne's relationship. I mean, what was the point to bring this new character ( The in my opnion had so much potential) just to make it go through the same journey as Lissa. So, the details are the diferent but she still had to go through the same journey basically alone. Yes, she had many romantical interests but so did Lissa and in both cases they are mostly useless. With their similar background and personalities they could have developed such interesting relationship. What drew me to Lissa's character in Blood Destiny was the charater growth, from a victim to a powerfull being. I would have loved to see her teach what she learned to her sister and how the guidence and unconditional support would help Breanne's character mature. Breanne, in return, could've provide the simple understanding that Lissa didn't have from those closest to her. Like why, even when she had the means to defend herself, sometimes she would fall apart insted. Like some episodes with Gavin, even though she had the power to defend herself from him, that were times she was so afraid, she broke down. They both new first hand how hard life could be and both were strong enough to survive their own personal hell. They could've had an interesting bond, and I was looking foward to see it. But that did not happed. I really hope that the Author starts investing in more diversificaded characters in her next books. I really liked her work but that are only so many times you can ready basically a variation of the same story.
After being mistreated all her life, the mortal as well as the immortal one, Breanne wants to start over. She folds time and start to live her life a new and find a place for herself.
For the first time she feels free and a master of her life. She even meets a man she is attracted to and, but as his secret comes out and Breanne is reminded of her past, everything around her starts to crumble.
The gods who are looking for The Mighty Three are also hunting her and Breanne has no knowledge of what she is and how important she is for the survival of the universe.
When life she had created for herself threatens to be swallowed by her past, and her anonymity is taken away, will Bree run and hide, or face her past and enemies head-on?
My thoughts: Like always, Connie Sutlle's story is very compelling. I love her female characters, who, although tortured in the past, rise from the ashes of their past and try to make a world a better place for those who suffered. What can I say. Another great book by Connie Suttle. I can only give a standing standing ovation.
I loved the Book and boy that girl Breanne is cool and much stronger than Reah ever been, and BELL woohoo, love him..my only little tiny bit thing that I didn't like was all that thing about Doms, slaves and subbs , not my thing but it is a personal taste and that some times it sounds(reads) like they were trying to get her into it even tough they new she did not like it at all. Ms Suttle please tell me that the next will be out soon..please can't wait. As always Ms Suttle knows how to write her characters , they never one dimension, you love them, hate them, cry for and with them, you always have a reaction and this is what is all about to make a good book.
Breanne is a interesting character that we fall in love with. We see her struggles and wonder what will happen next in the story. I feel a little cheated because her main characters are the same damaged. They have been beaten and abused. I was hoping we could see her grow from what she has accomplished but I don't see it in this book. What I do see is her trying to forge intimate relationship. I admire her for that. I hope she learns from this and we see what happens next.
Love this series. Had a whole range of emotions while reading. From anger, sadness, to happiness. There were some times I wanted to jump into the book and knock some sense into the characters. There were other times I did a happy dance.
As I said, love this series. I would definitely recommend reading. Make sure to read Connie's earlier books, such as the Blood Destiny and High Demon Series first as some things will be given away.
What a disappointment this book was. Up until now, every book has fled past as I absorb the story of an exceptional character, in this case Breanne. Watching her struggling against her inclination to be dominated by Hank and the unlovely Jayson made me feel sick. Also, it draaaaaaged. My greatest wish that the next book returns to the quality story, characters and adventure this author has led us to expect from her pen.
I've read book 1 and 2 of this God Wars series and loved both books!! I especially loved this one and have already bought book 3 and plan on starting immediately!! A fantastic science fiction series but with love, horror, sex, many different species and a fantastic storyline!!
Connie Suttle has created a world that keeps me coming back for more. This is a great addition to this series. I look forward to finding out what happens next. I don't like spoilers so all I can say is that a certain person still needs to answer for what he did and is still doing to Breanne.
Another awesome book by Connie Suttle. She kept me guessing all the way until the end. Also loved seeing more hot moments in this novel than in previous ones. I'm definitely ready to for the next in the series!
4.5 stars... enjoyed this much more than the first. Back to real time US and Breanna is trying to have a norrmal life away from all those that recently hurt her. Still in the clutches of this series and anxious for Blood Revolution.
