Melaia sends Trevin into enemy territory to retrieve the third harp she needs to restore the stairway to heaven and free the angels trapped in a human world. But an assailant wants Trevin dead, an unknown traitor is passing information to the invading enemy army, and the Firstborn immortal has vowed to destroy all three harps, along with anyone who stands in his way.
Separated, Trevin and Melaia try to keep their faith, hope, and love for each other alive. From the land of Windwing horses to the mountaintop lookouts of Stargazers, from the blight-ridden fields of the Camrithian homeland to the night-dark caverns of the Under-Realm, they face the ultimate test: What are they willing to sacrifice to restore the stairway and save their world? Will they lay aside their love for each other? Will they give up their future together?
I write young adult fiction about embracing uncertainty and discovering who you are. To me, life is story and story is life, and figuring out each is a process of exploring paths and seeing where they lead. In my novels, I explore losing what you thought was your path but finding another way, questioning taken-for-granted beliefs, and holding on when you think you can't. I love nature, travel, and pondering the mystery we call God.
Book Info: Genre: Fantasy/Christian fiction Reading Level: Young Adult Recommended for: People seeking family-friendly fantasy, those who enjoy epic fantasy Trigger Warnings: Murder, violence
My Thoughts: As far as I'm aware, this is the final book; I believe this is a trilogy. And it is a most satisfying ending. This is a very fast-paced book, and we're presented with the answers to a number of questions, and a number of secrets are exposed.
I was really enthralled throughout this whole series, which is what enabled me to read all three books in about a 2 ½ day period. I think a wide range of readers will enjoy this family-friendly epic fantasy, which has great character development, an intricate plot, and an uplifting and joyful overall message. I really do recommend it highly, and hope you'll give this great trilogy a chance.

Written for teens, this is an intense fantasy world, colored brightly with scenes that feel real, dialogue that is believable.
Book 3 of the Angelaeon Circle finds Trevin and Melaia separated from each other, each fighting for their lives and the final harp needed to restore the stairway to heaven and free the angels trapped in a human world.
The young priestess turned warrior, Melaia has sent Trevin out to retrieve the harp, but he is the target of a lethal enemy who wants him dead. Unbeknownst to Melaia, Trevin has plans to stop in another kingdom, Eldarra, where he will be adopted by the king and queen, so they will have an heir, making him of rank to marry her. His desire to save the earth is as strong as his love and need for Melaia. Can he balance to two?
He finds an ally in the enemy's camp who is willing to stand against the evil Lord Rejius, who wishes nothing more than to rule both the upper and lower worlds. But, at what cost? When many of their allies and friends are captured, ill or dead, can Melaia and Trevin succeed in re-joining all three magical harps? What is the truth of the Eagle and the Lion?

This ARC second edition was provided by NetGalley and Andon Press in exchange for my honest review.
What a terrific ending to the series!! I wasn't quite sure how it would end until the end so that was good. I would've been satisfied which ever way it went. I will say again, anyone who likes fantasy will like this series. Although it is a spiritual sort of story, sort of, it is not "Christian." I had to get book 3 through an interlibrary loan, but it was worth that little effort and a not too long wait. Yay for my library! A clean read!
First, I would like to say thank you to the author and to Goodreads for my copy of "Throat of the Night" which I received through Goodreads First-Reads giveaways.
This was an extraordinary novel that I absolutely loved. Not only that, but it was also a wonderful conclusion to the Angelaeon Circle series by Karyn Henley. I really enjoyed how the author once again brought to life Trevin and Melaia and how she told the story in this book from both of their points of view. Just like in the first two books the author doesn't disappoint, and builds up a story about love, trust, friendship, mystery, tragedy, and intrigue. This book had everything and more. It has a great story line that beautifully blends together a growing romance, loads of action, adventure, mystery, and even a bit comedy. It keeps you guessing and wanting to know more. The first two books in this series were fantastic page turners, and in my opinion "Throat of the Night" is even better. Couldn't put it down and I was even kind of sad when I finished it because I knew the story was over. It was a happy ending though that not only leaves the story feeling completed, but also leaves the reader content.
"Throat of the Night" concludes the Angelaeon Circle series and is a major page turning must read. This series will definitely be going on my shelf of favorites and I'm seriously considering reading it again. I'm already recommending it to friends and family and now I'm recommending it to you. You'll love it! Enjoy!
I genuinely loved the Angelaeon Circle series by Karyn Henley and I thought she did a wonderful job of wrapping up the series with Throat of the Night.
I’ve always enjoyed the presence of angels in these books – the mythology and lore is so interesting in the Angelaeon Circle and Karyn Henley does a great job of presenting it to us without it being preachy in any manner. And also, it’s really original – I love, love the lore Karyn Henley weaves into this series.
Trevin is just as swoonworthy as before, but I think I love him even more in Throat of the Night. He’s just such a great fantasy hero – he’s funny and strong and brave, but still has those flaws that makes him relatable and real.
Throat of the Night has an intense plot and I loved the search for the third harp, as well as seeing Trevin and Melaia on their separate journeys – and finally finding their way back to each other.
I loved the ending of Throat of the Night – it was just the perfect ending to the series and I felt really content when I finished.
I can’t wait to read more from Karyn Henley – I really hope she writes more fantasy in the future, because I would love to read anything she writes. I definitely recommend the Angelaeon Circle series to lovers of fantasy – it’s different and unique and definitely a really enjoyable series.
If you are looking for a fantastic YA Fantasy series filled with magic and mystery, look no further.
The third book of the Angelaeon Circle is an action-packed, non-stop adventure that sees the amazing characters of this series face their biggest triumphs, but also suffer their greatest losses.
As Melaia and Trevin continue on the quest to reunite the harps and restore the stairway to heaven, they are challenged in every way possible. It was exciting to walk alongside them as they continued on their journey. I liked the fact that things weren't made too easy for the MCs, and even when it seemed like they were never going to fulfill their destinies, I was silently cheering them on.
Henley paints a vivid picture and I was fully immersed in her sensational storytelling, as the scenes played out in my head like a movie.
I really loved the angel mythology adopted in this book. It was quiet different from anything I've read before. With the Archae each representing the elements and the division between Angeleaon and malevolents. Another thing I love about all fantasy novels are the imaginative creatures brought to life, and the Windwings definitely added a magical quality to this story.
I enjoyed every minute reading this book, and really wished it didn't have to end.
I loved the first two in this series and loved when I found out the third book was coming out. I couldn't help but dive in and remember what had taken place so far. Melaia just needs the third harp in order to restore the stairway to heaven so that the angels may finally go home. The only problem is that an immortal being stands in her path, wanting to destroy any work she has done to bring the staircase back into existance.
I love the interwoven tales in these books. The mythology and story behind the angels really intrigues me and I find that this is one angel series I really love. Melaia is a strong female character who does not want to sit still and wait, even though her father wishes her to remain within the castle as the heir to the throne. Trevin, her love interest, is a brave soul, if not a bit over the top at times and sometimes makes the mistake of underestimating Melaia.
Final Verdict: Overall, I thought this was a beautiful novel that has some amazing characters and a plot that will keep you reading until the very end.
Told in alternating point of views, Throat of Night by Karyn Henley is the perfect conclusion to the epic Angelaeon Circle trilogy.
Throat of Night was not as fast paced as its predecessors in the trilogy to start off with, but by half way through the book, the stakes are high and I was completely hooked.
The characters remain one of my favorite things about this trilogy. I was happy that Melaia toughens up a bit in this book. I really enjoy the character of Trevin the most - he is such a fun character and I love the storyline that follows him.
The world building in this series is so superbly done. It is such a unique world where the stakes are so high, which gives the books an edge to them.
Anyone looking for great high fantasy should be sure to check this trilogy out. Each book only gets better with the epic conclusion with Throat of Night.
Hey guys. I won a copy of this book after entering a goodreads giveaway and just completed it last night. It's amazing!! Totally unlike anything I have ever read before but that's the joy of branching out your reading :-)
It was beautiful and poignant. I loved all the themes and motifs within the book and the angelic theme. Karyn also personally signed it with "the best of angels" which I thought was absolutely beautiful.
My rating is 5 stars. I loved it. If you are an avid reader of mythology, spirits, angels and pure fiction I would reccomend this book. She has written it as a beautiful sequel to the first one.
Acquired: ARC (NetGalley free for honest opinion) Rating: 4.5 stars Review: While the story kept in line with the rest of the series with many unexpected twists and turns, I didn’t feel like the ending was nearly as dramatic as the other two. Each book had a dire, inescapable circumstance near the end or at the end. The fight and restoration of the Tree didn’t seem as dramatic as the reviving of the King or the earthquake at Qanreef. Other than the ending not living up to expectations, the rest of the book was great.
This three novel story winds to a resonant, brilliant melody, rich to the final word. I'll admit, I wasn't in love with the first book, but I did still like it enough to continue. And I'm glad I did, because the series gets progressively better with each book, all the events and characters blending in sustenance of each other, spinning magic in a wonderfully crafted and enchanting narrative. I loved this fantasy. This is definitely my cup of tea.
I hope Ms. Henley continues writing fantasy, because I quite enjoy being inside her mind.
I've been waiting for this book to come out for ages. I'm not sure if it's publishing mishaps or whatnot, but the whole thing felt rather slapdash. I'm happy it's concluded and I've had closure, and I still think the characters are great, but mostly I'm just relieved that I can finally call this series finished.
