A fun, romantic romp yule love! Meet a sexy tenth-century Viking hero and a modern day hero with a Viking heritage who both have the knack for making women melt . . . with holiday cheer. Merry Christmas from the Norse Pole.
BOLTHOR'S BRIDE
Bolthor the Skald has been there for his fellow warriors, both in battle and as a friend. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride, so to speak. This gentle giant, now scarred and retired from the fray, has never found a woman who loves him despite his rough appearance—and his poetry, which is woefully bad.
Enter the sexy, Saxon widow Katherine of Wickshire Manor, a woman in need of a strong man to take care of her, her four children, not to mention about two hundred chickens, in the style none of her first three husbands could manage.
When Viking meets Saxon, the sparks do fly.
A VIKING FOR CHRISTMAS
Bodyguard Erik Thorsson, a fiftieth generation Viking, meets Jessica Jones, dressed as a cute Santa Claus, when she stages a righteous attempt to rob the local Piggly Jiggly. All Jessica wants is a refund for a Burping Bear toy, which the store refuses to honor.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, Jessica takes hostage another Santa in the store, Erik himself, after accidentally shooting the Little Debbie cupcake display. For the first time in five years, since his beloved wife died, Erik finds himself head over Santa boot heels in love, but how to convince Jessica that he's not her Christmas curse, but instead a Christmas miracle.

3 Stars for Santa Viking (audiobook) by Sandra Hill read by Bryant Walker.
This book is made up of two completely different stories, one an ancient Viking tale and one is modern. They don’t seem to have anything to do with each other except that the women in the stories are in need of a dependable man.
This book gives you two stories for the price of one. Two fun, romantic and sometimes hilarious novellas that I think will really put you in the holiday spirit.
Bolthor's Bride
We have the long awaited story of that Viking Scald Bolthor. Yes, he finally found someone who could listen to his verse without cringing, someone who thought him to be breath stealing handsome...someone with four children and 3 swine-like husbands under her belt, someone who could use his strength and love! This would be a very merry Yule season for Bolthor the Skald and Katherine the Saxon.
This was a fairly short novella, but with Sandra Hill's usual humor and depth of characters it will not be a disappointment for her fans.
In a "Viking for Christmas" we come back to the 21 century with the story of Erik Thorsson and Jessica Jones. Jessica believes that she has a curse upon her and for all intents and purposes it really DOES look like that. Jessica meets Erik while she is dressed as Santa Claus attempting to 'rob' the Piggly Jiggly of the money they owe her for a broken toy. During the attempted... uhm... robbery, she ends up taking Erik as a sort of hostage and things just escalate from there.
The only thing I could possibly have had problems with was that Erik fell in love in a matter of hours, and just kept talking about wild sex and how great he was in bed. However, the story was so sweet in the long run, with an amazing depth of character growth in such a short amount of time that I finally found myself overlooking that issue and falling in love with Erik and Jessica and, oh, did I forget to tell you that there is also houseful of orphans in this story ? I fell in love with them too. It was a magical Christmas for all and this book sure helped me find a little Christmas spirit which I was sorely lacking this year!
Actually I didn't read more than a little of this book. It was awful. It was full of graphic sex from the get go so I never went further. Don't waste your time. The recommendations and synopsis did not offer any idea of what you were about to read.
This popped up and I thought, why not? Vikings+ Christmas? Sign me up.
I was VERY surprised when this turned into two separate stories. Chapters 1-4: Short novella on a 10th century viking. This story actually made me giggle more than once. Have you seen Robin Hood Men in Tights? It gave me all those feels.
Chapters 5-the end: A short story about a Viking in the 21st century. Another surprising story! Jessica is in the middle of a robbery when she takes Erik in a hostage situation. It was a light-hearted story.
I browsed reviews afterwards and Mary had this to say: "Actually I didn't read more than a little of this book. It was awful. It was full of graphic sex from the get go so I never went further. Don't waste your time. The recommendations and synopsis did not offer any idea of what you were about to read."
Unfortunately, I didn't find any graphic sex. Light spice in both stories, but the first one was funny with all the Viking "lingo."
Looking through my folder of Christmas books on my kindle, I found this and wondered why I hadn’t read it before. I was a big fan of Hill's viking books and remember Bolthor well. Stepping back in time to read a story where he finally finds love was a treat. I found all the signature writing style humor I remembered from Hill. However, I would have liked just a little bit more to the story because I feel his character deserved it. The second story in this duo unfortunately didn't capture my interest, so I didn't finish it. (3.5 stars)
Two stories about Vikings falling head-over-heels in record time. They really lacked so much plot, it was uncomfortable. We really need more developed characters here.
This book is 2-in-1. The first story was cute-ish, but not something I probably would pick on my own (it was suggested and I thought why not). The second story is where I stopped. I couldn’t do it, self deprecation is one thing but multiple characters doing it does not a good story make.
I won this and just finished it today. Two short stories about love, laughter, and Christmas. These were very fast easy reads. The characters had depth, strength, and loveability. I enjoyed the contrast of the time era's of the two stories. Sandra Hill has a way about writing Viking men that far reaches any other author I have read. She create scenes and situations that anyone can relate to. Santa Viking is two short stories that will delight and entertain you. These two stories have characters with guts and whimsy. Bolthor’s Bride brings a bit of the Viking of old into your life with gruffness, charm, and lore of olde. Bringing to mind the hardships and triumphs that were the Vikings and how they lived and loved. A Viking for Christmas is a whimsical tale of no-nonsense Viking to the rescue. When Jessica is at her wits ends with all that is happening to her this Christmas, she meets her Viking, Erik. Bodyguard, romantic at heart, softy for the underdog, Erik is only trying to save Jessica from herself. Jessica leads him on a merry chase to win her heart and get the Happy Christmas of her dreams.
Its about time Bothor's gets his girl. But, it hurts that this Viking whom became one of the humorous characters in most of the storytelling with his poems gets a novella. Sandra he deserves a follow-up with a story of his own. Maybe in the future with all the children he adopted by marriage and some of his own. I get the impression that he would have a big family. How ever a worthy read and enjoyed the Christmas theme.
If you are looking for a bit of love and laughter, Santa Viking is a humorous diversion with a Norse twist. For the full review, please visit http://romanticreadsandsuch.wordpress...
This is one great book!! I enjoyed both stories very much, and could not put it down until the end!! Move, love love!! A very big must read about second chances, love, and the journey to get there!!
Love Sandra Hill books. As usual these two are fun, sexy, and hilarious. The heroines are sassy, strong on the outside and mushy on the inside. The heroes are usually clueless, but strong and hunky. Highly recommend.
