I loved this book I really did but there were a few things that I had problems with which took away from my overall enjoyment of this book. I started the book off loving it. Sadie is very strong in her faith in Christ and that's something I can really admire about her. She is who she is and she really doesn't care what anyone thinks of her. She added in plenty of scriptures that I loved and I liked how she added in cute little sayings that related to the topic she was talking about. While I did like Sadie's points there wasn't anything spectacular about them. What I mean by that is they were all things I'd heard before and none of it really helped me. One of the things I think Sadie got wrong is thinking that she is the only teenager who ever thinks about any of the things she thinks about. She makes herself out to be this perfect person who stands above everyone else because of her devotion to God. This probably wasn't what she intended but it's the way she came across. Some of the things she said really stunned me and in my heart I felt she was coming off a little too strong. She talked about a girl who kept cussing and instead of just asking the girl politely on the side to not curse around her. She said very bluntly that if the girl kept cursing she wouldn't hang out with her anymore. I get why Sadie did that but it still must have hurt the girl's feelings that Sadie really didn't consider her feelings to be important enough to tell her in private and not in front of a big group of people. Because instead of Sadie looking bad it made that girl look bad and that really bothered me.

Other than that I really did like this book. Sadie had a great idea but I felt like she obsessed a little too much over things that really aren't worth obsessing over. I also felt that she focused a little too much on focusing on yourself rather than other people and that really bothered me.

This book was actually a thought-provoking and good read. Although, it's mainly directed at teenagers, I found that the content was also relevant for my life (someone who's far from being a teenager).

The advice content isn't necessarily 'new' and some of it has been repeated in various forms. However, in all actuality, part of the reason this book is being picked up is because people aren't putting into practice some of the recommendations (myself included). As with many other self-help books, I find even if the content has been repeated in other books, it's necessary because I'm hopeful that one day it will 'stick'.

Another thing that I liked about this book was the writing style and personality that was obvious. It was written from a personality of a young-adult and I think that was seen when reading. It was a casual tone and not a tone of authority or as if someone is preaching information to the reader but elevating themselves at the same time.

I do have to acknowledge though it wasn't until the acknowledgments that I realized Beth Clark was credited for writing with Sadie Robertson. After reading that credit, and realizing Beth Clark's name was also included on the front cover, I'm not certain how much of this was written by Sadie. She may have verbalized her thoughts only for someone to have made them a written format for her. Either way, it was good content but did leave me feeling a little bit disappointed.

I will be reading the other book that is also out by Sadie Robertson as I liked the messages that this book included/promoted on living a positive life.

This book wasn't what I had expected. I didn't fully read the description, I guess. I thought this was just going to be Sadie Robertson writing about her life. I didn't realize this was mostly a self-help book for teens. I had planned on giving the book two stars, but realized I should give it three stars because I think teenagers could actually benefit from reading it. I'm sure if I were 12-17 years old I would have liked this book more. I mostly read it for the stories about her family.

Recently hit Sadie with the follow after seeing all of the high schoolers posts about her recent baby, really appreciated the content and didn’t realize she was also an author. This book felt like she was reading my mind. It’s like she had taken a page out of my journal. It’s been an aspiration of mine in 2021 to live originally, thankful to have Sadie as a wise guide and companion navigating that. Would’ve given it 5 stars, but found the questions at the end of each chapter unnecessarily challenging.

As you may have noticed, it took me a while to read this book. I ended up skimming over some parts, even some chapters, because her writing was a little repetitive and part of the slow reading was because I already knew what I was reading. I felt fine doing that because I didn't really view this as a devotional, more of a self-help book.
I know one thing that really bothered me was the way she talked in general, about herself. Now I'm not saying she never went through hard times or struggled with anything. But when she talks about her experiences, it seems like she doesn't want to open up too much about it, which I get, but it completely takes away the personal feel and definitely the depth.
For instance, she uses sentences like this a lot throughout the book. "I was really sad and upset and angry, but then I did This and this (example: made lemonade) and was happy again."
It just boggled my mind that lemonade completely changed her mood so quickly and drastically. (Can I please have the recipe?? lol)
I'm not trying to be a harsh judge, I know i'm maybe not the clearest at times, and I'm definitely not saying that you should wallow in those feelings and allow them to rule you. However, here are some things that might be more helpful when you're angry or upset:

Praying: God listens, and it feels so good to tell someone everything and lighten the burden, right?
Talking to a family member or friend: Ask for genuine advice, and be open about your feelings.
Taking a walk/getting exercise: Horse riding, long walks, and even just being in the outdoors will help clear your brain and lighten your mood.

I know that's a little off topic, but those are my tips. Also, another piece of advice, don't expect those things to make all your problems disappear in a blink.
Overall I got enough from this book that I would recommend it to girls 13+. However, I'm also gonna say it's not super super deep, again it reminded me of a self help book, so don't feel bad about picking and choosing which chapters and parts are most applicable to you. There's quite a bit of repeating.

In this day in age, we are constantly searching for positive influences not only in our own lives, but more importantly, in the lives of our children and teens. Bombarded by the media's influence of what is worthy in the eyes of the world, it's no wonder our teens are facing challenges with bullying, dating relationships, immorality, self esteem, and self worth. If we simply look at ourselves by the world's standards of what is worthy, we will all come up so very short.

That is why I am thrilled when I come across things that promote God's vision for our children and teens in a form that they can easily relate to. From dating advice, how to deal with haters in school, social media challenges, fulfilling and finding our dreams, self confidence, dealing with blame, promoting a strong positive force in school and social activities, working on random acts of kindness in helping others in any way we can, creating a respect for your family, friends and most importantly yourself, as well as dealing with situations you may find yourself in that can create awkward moments, dealing with stresses that only a teenager is faced with and living your life as the original masterpiece God has called each of us to be.

Sadie Robertson, Duck Dynasty, at the age of seventeen, has thought a lot about friendships, self-confidence, and being the one and only original God has made you to be in her first book, Live Original. She shares great biblical advice that teens can easily relate to in each chapter devoted to something your own teen may be dealing with. From issues on social media with negative messages or even posts, to how to make sure you set your Godly standards up front with your friends and potential dates to avoid having to compromise on your faith. At the conclusion of each chapter is a challenge section for teens with some questions to provoke further thought and a challenge to incorporate these ideas into their life. Each chapter opens with a great scripture and Sadie constantly refers back to all her ideas right back to the Bible, so teens can see that the answers to a lot of the issues they are dealing with are found in the Bible.

She incorporates the use of examples on how she has struggled in maintaining a Christian way of living in the world while often times being the only Christian in a situation from joining a Junior Olympic basketball team in Austria at thirteen and why her parents felt she was strong enough to go alone. She uses stories from her grandparents, her siblings and others to show just how important family values and Christian living can help us to define our choices in the world. Not to make things difficult by restricting us, but by helping us to choose those things that will help keep us pure and living for God.

I received Live Original by Sadie Robertson compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon and Schuster Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation in exchange for my review and was offered a complimentary copy of the book and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. I think this is a must have for any parent struggling to help teens live a godly life in an ungodly world. Sadie relates to teens on their level because she is writing from her own heart. From the challenges facing her in dealing with being part of the Duck Dynasty fame, she retains her essence of who she is despite of it. How she really tries to get teens to understand their purpose here on the world and how they can have a positive impact by beginning now instead of simply waiting until they are old enough. She's even designed her own line of "Daddy-approved" prom dresses known as the Sherri Hill line/Sadie Robertson collection. I highly recommend this book and think it would make a great resource for any teenager struggling with any of the issues I mentioned above. Hands down a well deserved 5 out of 5 stars!

An upbeat read, about living a life of faith, confidence, and optimism.

This might be weird, but I have never actually seen an episode of Duck Dynasty but I have read some other books by other members of the family and I have admired their faith and business smarts. And lately I have caught a few glimpses of Sadie's run on Dancing with the Stars. So I was very excited to read this book.

It was an upbeat read, quick and easy, yet meaningful in its simplicity. Sadie fearlessly shares her faith and beliefs in an age where it is not always easy to voice your beliefs. She share her passion for Christ, and throughout the book you can feel the respect she has for her family.

Sadie speaks honestly from personal experience on how to deal with things like worry, determination, following your dreams, relationships, and through it all, God.

Overall, and fun read, full of encouragement. A great book to keep in mind for gifts this Christmas!

Sadie is such a talented young lady. I loved reading her thoughts on life and having the bible verses mixed in. Great story for teens but really people of all ages could learn something from it!

I bought this for my 13 year old niece for a Christmas gift and read it before I gave it to her (I like to do that so I'd know what I was giving her). She LOVES it and it has lots of very relatable stuff for a teenage girl. As a Christian, Sadie is not afraid of telling us of the values she lives by and how they've helped shape who she is. I had to smile to myself that she said she didn't know anyone who wasn't a Christian at some point...can't say that happens in my everyday life and I am one! Maybe it's just like that where she lives, and I'm sure it's not the case for her now she's more well-known. In saying that, I think the book missed an opportunity to be more evangelistic - it makes some assumptions that people may already have some knowledge of the God of the Christian Bible and how to get to know Him personally. This book could have explained that a little more. But then perhaps the publishers didn't want to go down that path. All in all though, an encouraging and uplifting read for your teen daughter or niece or granddaughter in my opinion.

I hated it. I read halfway through and I threw it across my house and wanted to destroy it. I am a Christian and this is all lies. This is a girl who doesn't know how to write doing a horrible job trying persuade people to be happy while not focousing on any really life problems. You can't always be happy just by saying your happy. This book disgusts me. If she could write it would be better but she is a horrible writer she sounds like she's writing for elementary school students. I am the same age as she is and I can write twice as good. Disgusting book. Hate it.

I loved this book. The main idea of this book was to lay out the fundamentals of how her family lives, makes decisions and why her they're so happy. It also explains how you can be happy to. IT shares fun childhood memories and pictures that are not included in the show. There were a lot of parts of the book that really resonated with me, but other times it seems to go on and on.

Interesting overall—I love the perspective of a good Christian role model in the media, I think that is very unique and special. Some of the content was a little dry and not too impactful I will say for me, geared towards younger teen girls or new Christian girls as it was. However, I know she was only in high school when the book was written, and I look forward to reading her future books towards any future insights she may have

Okay, so I liked this book quite a bit but there are a few things I would like to address at first.

So, this was a collaborative effort between Sadie and Beth Clark, there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion but I feel like that might be a conflict of interest with some people that it wasn't necessarily fully written by Sadie herself.

Next, the book is HIGHLY geared towards teenagers. Does that mean that if you're not a teenager you can't read it? No, but I think you'd get more out of it and find it more satisfying if it was read in the right age group that it was intended for.

It seemed redundant at some points. Yes, I love the book and the messages it played out but some of them could have been cut out or simplified into a one time thing. Instead, there were multiple times where she goes on to say something again that she had said previous chapters before. We get that the book is about how to live original, you don't have to keep saying that is how you live original.

So, what did I actually like about the book? One, I'm super biased because I am a HUGE Sadie Robertson fan (notice I didn't say Duck Dynasty, I have not watched a single episode of that show in my life). I think she is an inspiring teenager who has used her platform on TV to further the kingdom of God more and that's inspiring. The book had a lot of amazing points that made me really think about my life and how to be more true to myself as well as stay true to God. My biggest problem in life is changing who I am to please other people but at the same time I'm not pleasing God. I also liked that she was really open and honest about her family, through this book it has made me want to learn more about her and her family and also to watch Duck Dynasty.

She laid everything out on the table and that's something I can really appreciate. It's so easy as a teenager, especially a celebrity, to change and be who everyone else wants you to be because you feel pressured. Sadie is someone who is down to earth and fully in love with the Lord. No, she's not perfect, and I feel like I would have loved to know her testimony a bit more through this book, but her messages were still clear.

Overall, it was a great and informative book. If you're a fan of the Robertson family or of Duck Dynasty I would recommend it. If you're looking to find out how to stay true to yourself and God while going through life as a teenager then I would recommend it. If you're just looking for a great faith filled book then I would recommend it.

I read this book only because my daughter's teacher at school asked parents to pre-read it before they had it in their discussion circles. I had no plans to finish but one of my daughters, has ended up in a group that must read it. I have no serious objections to it that would cause me to forbid this, but I do not care for the book a lot. Its very heavy on "act like a Christian" and not very high on "you are saved by grace, revel in God's love for you and act to please Him." Like too many popular Christian books, it comes across as a be a good witness book and not a serve the Lord, He died for you book which is what I'd much prefer my girls to read.

It is written by a teenager and I found it very light reading so that will be good for younger readers.

I also think we often think wrongly about things and get down and discouraged. Sadie does offer some very good positive thoughts and insights that I think can be very useful/helpful for my girls to learn when their emotions are ruling over their heads and what they know to be right. I plan to use those things with her as she reads it, while also comparing what much of it says and showing her where I think its more popular culture affecting faith than actual Scriptural truth.

The book “Live Original” by seventeen year old Sadie Robertson, who is the daughter of Willie and Korie Robertson, on the hit TV show, Duck Dynasty. Throughout this story Sadie talks about her life before and after her family became famous, and how she has reacted with publicity. Sadie also talks about her outlook on life and her and her family’s faith and values. The Robertson family is definitely a God centered family, and Sadie explains how important that is to her and who she is as a person. In this book Sadie gives her testimony and wants to be a light to many others, by exhibiting her morals and values in life. To sum this book up, it is about a teenage girl who loves her friends, family, and God. Sadie just wants to be a good role model for not only teenagers, but to all. I strongly recommend this book to anyone. I was very inspired by all that Sadie had to say in this book, and I strongly enjoyed her testimony that she gave. I definitely recommend this book!

I really enjoyed this book. Sadie wrote a lot of encouraging things that I think would be helpful for some girls. A few things she talks about were live life on a happy way, don't let negativity get to you, never give up on anything, let your smile change the world, basically the example God wants you to be, showing acts of kindness, but most importantly live original. Be You! And live it out to your fullest. Don't compare yourself to others, be you. Because you are wonderful, and uniquely made, even if you don't realize or think you are, you are. I recommend this book 100%.

I'm currently reading Live Original and I love it! There are so many helpful tips in this book that can help all ages become better people! The chapters give advice on friendship, becoming a better you, helping others around you, etc. I'm about three fourths of the way through it and I already feel like a better person. Each chapter has a "Live Original Challenge" in which you answer questions about that chapter. It helps in reminding you about what you read about in the chapter and also helps stick it in your brain! I strongly suggest that you read this book!

I hated this book. I read it because I do respect Sadie Robertson for staying true to her beliefs while in the public eye. The girl just isn't much of a writer. She had some good points but over all I was miserable reading this book. I think it's meant for younger readers. My little sister might enjoy it but I hated it.

Live Original- Sadie Robertson
“I’ll admit it, I’m a worrier, and I can get really stressed out over things. Some people in my family are also worriers and some are not.” (Robertson 151) This quote is from the chapter about stress in this book, it is one of many incredible quotes from the book. When reading this book I found many reasons to love the book, the book is very relatable and useful, the book had many real life stories which helped make the book more entertaining, and the topics in the book are clearly things that the author has lots of encouragement for those reading the book. These reasons are why I would rate this book a five.
Throughout the book there are many relatable topics. One of the chapters is called “Confidence is key” which is obviously all about confidence. Which is something that a lot of people including me deal with, in the book she not only talks about the problems but how to deal with them. So it really brings people into the book on an emotional level. This is one of many times in the book when I really connected with the book, the part I related to most was chapter thirteen “Do something” in this chapter it talks about doing what you say you are going to do. I relate to this because it is something that I am trying to work on, it really draws the reader in because she talks about ways to work on it. She talks about starting with small steps and then moving onto bigger things, she also talks about really diving into what you want to do. This information can be used in working towards your goal so I think people will want to read this book to learn more about what they want to.
During multiple parts of the book the author adds in her own stories which really brings the story and the information to life. I think in a lot of books like this one that are more informative books can get a little boring. The author of this book did well by providing the reader with information and entertainment. I also enjoy that the author is very real in the book, she shares stories about the good things that happen to her and the bad things. This is good because readers who might be struggling might learn better from times when she was struggling then during her good times. The author talked about how when she was younger people at her school made up rumors about her and she talked about how she dealt with it, she also talks about her first mission trip and the incredible impact it made on her. I think these are great examples of the variety of stories in the book.
The author makes it very obvious throughout this book that she did not write the book for one specific person, but that she wrote it to inspire everyone. A lot of the things that she talks about in the book are pretty deep topics and I think that she handles talking about them very well. Throughout the book she is very positive and understanding. I think this makes the book a five because anyone could feel encouraged by this book. If the book was written more exclusively it might make some readers turn away from the book. Some examples of this are, she talks multiple times about wanting to encourage ALL of her readers, she talks about how the whole world deserves happiness.
In conclusion I think this book is an incredible book, and I would recommend it to anyone. Think I said before this book is definitely an overall five for me because of its so many wonderful traits. I think it would be great for everyone to read this book, there are so many things to learn from this book and it is very inspirational.

I can truthfully say that I wasn't expecting a lot from this book in terms of its ethos or the expression of its main ideas. And while it definitely wasn't anything spectacular, I came away more impressed than not with at least the consistency of Roberston's work of connecting her life to her faith. There are certainly a lot of times where this line gets muddled and the advice she gives out seems more homespun than anything else, but there are some interesting parts spread throughout that give this book a bit more life than a lot of comparable texts by other Christian writers/influencers. The overall message of living original feels a bit oddly cobbled together and in the book's prose seems to trend more cultural than spiritual, but the book's conclusion does an interesting job of bringing it back to Robertson's baseline faith approach.

Reading Live Original: How the Duck Commander teen keeps it real and Stays true to her Values, By Sadie Robertson was an amazing spiritual journey. Having it written by a teen girl just like me makes the book even better. She tells amazing stories of her high school life and home life. Even though it is written by a teen, this book can be enjoyed by so many other types of people. All the stories that she tells is just relatable to anyone.
Sadie Robertson isn’t the most normal girl out there. She has a family that is big in the TV business, with their own hit show Duck Dynasty. To go to high school, be on TV daily and still keep up with her relationship with God and her family is just amazing. Sadie mentions a lot in her book about how she keeps that life with certain values. “These values include think happy, be happy; dream big; shake the hate; do something; and many more.” This is one of my favorite quotes I have ever read. It helps you look at life and see that you can make the best out of anything and many more. No matter if one is 15 years old or 50. Anyone can look at this quote and apply it to their life.
It is inspiring that Sadie is so open about her religion. In this day in age so many people are afraid to be open about their beliefs. But it’s amazing that she walks with the Lord in her everyday life. In the book she adds little quotes and Bible Verses that relate back to what she is talking about in that chapter. No matter what The Robertson Family is not swayed on their thoughts and feelings because of media. They stick to what they believe in.
Sadie also tells a bunch of stories of her in high school and how she doesn’t let people get in her way and change her. She stays the person that God made her to be and doesn’t let any person change that.
Overall this book is an amazing read! It helps you relate things to your life and makes you look at how you make decisions. Sadie has a powerful voice and makes you see that even the smallest changes in your life can change it drastically for the better. Her positivity rubs off on you as you are reading. “Positive thinking doesn’t just happen. It’s something you have to do on purpose”

When thinking about yourself what is the first thing that comes to mind? For most people it's the things we want to change about ourselves and the bad things about us. In Live Original, Sadie Robertson tells us stories about her and her family that teaches us be confident in ourselves, being good to others, picking the right friends, and most importantly giving us ways to live by God's words and spreading his message.
Sadie Robertson is a perfect example of someone who is kind, confident and someone who follows God's word and we see this all throughout the book. For example, she tells us in the book that one time she was with some friends and one of them kept swearing and saying not so nice stuff so she asked her to stop and said not to swear around her because she didn't want that influence because god tells us to surround ourselves with good things and people and if you don't those words will fill your mind and set a bad example for yourself. This shows us how serious she is about living by God's words and that she will not be around people that are bad influences. Sadie is not the only one throughout the book that shows us these characteristics. Sadie tells a story about how her mom and how when her dream almost didn't come true how patient and calm she was. When Sadie's mom was younger she always wanted a big family so when she got married she wanted kids right away she had her first two and wanted another one but she didn't have one as fast or soon as she wanted it but instead of dropping her dream or getting upset she gave her dream to god and knew he would show her the way and he did she had another baby and later adopted one and had one after that. This shows us how positive she was throughout her journey and how God works in our life.
The theme of this book is to live original and be the person god made you to be. Sadie Robertson is a prime example of this all throughout the book. For example she says “True happiness doesn't depend on a certain group of friends, the things we have, a boyfriend or girlfriend. Ultimately, happiness can only come from inside you.” This shows that Sadie doesn't need to be the most popular or have the best clothes she knows that these things don't make you ultimately happy and that's cool to see because most people never figure that out in their lives. Sadie is not the only character that follows the theme. Sadie’s grandma, two-mama is also a lady that helps her grandchildren to do the right thing. For example when ever she is there when the kids leave the house she always says “Be a good example and be a good leader.” This shows that two-mama is a good genuine person and she want to reflect that on the lives of her grandkids.
This is a great book for people that want to change their life for the better and find ways to get closer to God. “God made you an amazing person with all kinds of potential. I hope you'll live life his way, be an original and express your uniqueness in every way you can, every chance you get.”

Living like yourself is something that may be hard for many high school students. Through her book, Live Original, Sadie Robertson encourages her readers to live original and be themselves not someone else. Two points that stuck out in this book were theme and the author. The theme was be yourself and the author was first person so it added many details that couldn't have been given if it was not a first person point of view.

The theme was to be yourself because everyone else is already taken. Sadie tries to get this across to the reader in many ways. One of the ways she does this is by having a Live Original Challenge at the end of each chapter. This challenge is a series of questions that encourage the reader to be themselves. This makes the reader realize that being themself is the best thing ever because God created them to be them. On another page of the book, Sadie included a series of 12 questions that a reader could answer to help make them realize that again, being yourself is the best thing ever. This has proved the theme is a great aspect to the story.

The author was one of the points that stuck out in this book. The author, Sadie is a teenager which makes it easier for other teenagers to relate to. At one point in the book, Sadie is talking about a high school basketball game. As a teenager, it is easier to relate to this verses relate to a professional basketball game because the typical high schooler has never played in a professional game, but may have played in a high school game. At another point in the story, the author talks about fighting with her siblings. Many teenagers that have siblings can relate to this as they probably fight a ton. This has proved that the author adds a lot to the story as she makes it more relatable.

The book, Live Original, is a wonderful book for any teenage person who has a love for their Christian faith. Throughout the book there were many wonderful things. Two of the best things that stood out in this book were theme and the author. These two points added a ton of details to the story that wouldn't have been there otherwise. This is a good book that many people should read.
