While I thought this would be a good cookbook so I could have a reference book to help me loose weight and I ended up with a very average book that has some really good recipies and some good recipies and some that you would not find online.

Overall just average at best.

This is a book of salad recipe favorites provided by food writers of all manner. This is in many ways a weird cookbook. Aside from the fact that the book was compiled by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, this book was released in the early 90's, around the time that chefs, especially in America, began to reevaluate the salad course into something healthier, tastier, fresher. Yet this book carries some dinosaur recipes. There is an entire chapter dedicated to Molded salads. The word "Oriental" is used frequently to describe recipes. Canned fruit and vegetables are disturbingly common. Whipped cream is used a lot. And there isn't any kale or quinoa in sight.

Hipsters and foodies will be bothered and bored by this book. But, being that I was raised Midwest Lutheran and had a Grandma who frequently made gelatin salad for dinner, I can say that this book is full of classic crowdpleasers and some of the greatest hits of church potlucks.

This is a compliation of salad recipes from food writers compiled by MADD. The book is about 15 years old and there's really nothing new in it. It includes a variety of salads from green, fruit, main dish and molded. Some interesting salads: Danish Cole Slaw uses blue cheese, Muscovite Potato Salad includes cucumber, Spiced Pear Salad, Charger Inn Cranberry Salad and Pecos Taco Salad.
