EN The last volume of the series ended up being the weakest of them all. Not because the ending is bad, but because, in practice, I feel that the real conclusion took place in the previous volume.
In this one, we mostly get the aftermath of the events and a few additional details, but nothing, in my view, particularly remarkable.
Even so, it’s definitely a series worth reading, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys crime thrillers.
3.5/5 stars ⭐️ for this volume rounded up. Average 3.25⭐️ for whole series. Some volumes are close to 4.5. These for the story line. But the artworks are great and so detailed and dramatic. 5 stars 🌟
Even though I found the final plot twist so early in the story "My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought" was a very enjoyable journey for me. Its not the mystery or the twists that kept popping up every few pages, but HOW those mysteries and twists were presented. The mangaka has a very lovely writing style that will keep your eyes on the story and prevent boredom.
Action-packed, psychological crime drama would be a fitting genre for this amazing story. I can't really say much so I'll just add the synopsis below,-
"Eiji the college-age virgin dreams of someday having a girlfriend...until he wakes up one day with his "girlfriend" in his bed with him! Not only that, his buddy tells him he got in a fight...and that three days have passed that Eiji doesn't remember? What dark secrets are being hidden...by Eiji himself?"
I wish the mangaka writes more stories because they are just a treat for the mind. And the art style is also good.
Rei Shinmyoji is definitely my favourite character.
Meh. No fue un mal final, pero esperaba algo más... shockeante, you could say, más todavía teniendo en cuenta los twists and turns constantes a lo largo de los otros 10 volúmenes. Pero bueno, no fue una mala historia. Estuvo entretenida.
okay yeah what a great manga it won me over… started off slow but around the 3rd volume it instantly rose up in the ranks. reminds me a lot of monster for some reason as well.
I've been reading this since April even though it's a short manga with only 11 volumes and all volumes were available for me. The record of all key characters was definitely helpful to keep my memory in tact. But still it got a bit confusing at times. A good dark thriller series that could have been improved in some aspects.
Shinai naru Boku e Satsui wo Komete is an amazing psychological thriller. I loved all the plot twists and the story itself is so well written. The artwork is also very well done. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys suspense, murder mysteries or psychological thrillers.
Eiji is your typical shy college student trying to find himself, get a pretty girlfriend and cruise through life with no issues. Unfortunately his father was a brutal serial killer that left a stain on his family that follows him around everywhere he goes, and the emergence of a split personality with dark and violent tendencies gets him wrapped up in a murderous conspiracy where his dangerous alter ego seems to be his own worst enemy. Is he doomed to involuntarily follow in his disgraced father’s footsteps?
I thought this series would be a bit predictable considering I’ve seen this type of horror thriller before, but it ended up throwing dozens of unexpected twists at me, none of them being what I predicted given the premise. The truth behind both of Eiji’s personalities ended up being more twisted and complex than I had originally imagined.
What really won me over with this series is how unexpectedly complex and multilayered the entire cast of side characters ended up being. At first, the side characters all seem very simplistic and forgettable with one dimensional character tropes, but almost every single side character ends up having dark secrets of their own that are even more insane than those of the protagonist. Hardly anyone in this story is completely innocent, everyone is involved in the mass murder conspiracy in some way or another and the puzzle keeps getting bigger and bigger until the very end where everything is finally pieced together.
Don’t be deceived by the predictable opening with familiar psychological horror cliches. The series gets more intense, unpredictable and challenging to figure out the longer it goes on and the payoff at the end hits really hard. Eiji is a tragic character that’s easy to hate at times but incredibly sympathetic, the side characters all have fascinating subplots of their own as well. It has a slow build up but gets significantly better with each volume.
"My Dearest Self with Malice Aforethought" is an exceptional manga that truly captivated me from start to finish. What sets this manga apart, beyond its compelling plot and the undeniable artistic prowess of the mangaka, are the characters that are masterfully crafted. The character development in this manga is akin to a beautifully sweet melody that gradually transforms into a chaotic and riveting opera about impending apocalypse. The depth with which the characters are built is truly astonishing. One second I was led to believe I know everything about them, only to be jolted by the realization that there are hidden layers waiting to be uncovered. It's a rollercoaster of emotions as I witnessed their growth and evolution, and just when I thought I've figured them out, the story takes an unexpected turn that leaves me stunned e.v.e.r.y s.i.n.g.l.e t.i.m.e.
The plot twists in "My Dearest Self with Malice Aforethought" are nothing short of mind-blowing. Each revelation is meticulously woven into the narrative, catching me off guard and leaving me hungry for more. The manga kept me on the edge of me seat, eagerly awaiting what comes next, and it never disappoints. Having read a plethora of manga, this one effortlessly soared into my top 10 list. Its ability to seamlessly blend intricate character development, shocking plot twists, and exquisite artwork makes it a true gem in the world of manga. "My Dearest Self with Malice Aforethought" isn't just a story; it's an unforgettable journey that lingers in your mind long after you've turned the last page.
What an insanely convoluted story that literally did everything to leave absolutely nil plot holes AT ALL (at least not that i can recall). In the most positive manner, it was a thrill to read everything that had prompted to such an ending, with good endings and bad endings and such stellar, intricate art to top it off; depicting the sheer despair and terror in the character's uncanny expressions as more and more conspiracies or schemes unravel with every piece of discourse that continually lead and intertwine unto each others story like a goddamn thread. It was wild to witness a conclusion as ridiculous as this, and the element of horror is so prevalent especially in the unabridged retelling of the backstories. There were so so many moments of the story where the suspense was unbelievably heightened that i felt such a need to read or dare i say skim through panels in such desperation just to see what the actual fuck is going on. Inclusive of themes not just of horror and revenge, but of love too drives the story to be more believable and wrenching when everything plays out. This truly is a trauma dump clusterfuck of the generation but man is it peak.
This series and final volume was good overall. It had a dark theme that was consistent throughout. The art was fantastic! The characters were varied and each had a compelling story arc that fit well into the overall narrative. My major complaint is that it got really difficult to follow at times. Also, the multiple personality angle would have been cool if they focused more on the mental health side of things. Instead, it is treated more like its own person. It was hard to believe that any court would be listening to all of this and not stop it and call in medical professionals for an evaluation. Overall, this was good, dark read.
I'm normally not one to read book series or manga in general but this has to be one of the most terrific series I've read. From the start the plot twists on top of twists and revelation of background information made this consistently thrilling and exciting to read, I just couldn't put the story down. At some points it felt like the plot twists just wouldn't end and at some points became so confusing because there was so much double crossing and new characters/ storylines coming up but regardless I have a fun 4 days reading this story.
This does so much to wrap things up, it gets a bit emotional cause of how the MC really felt at the end of his “demise” there are some plot holes indeed. Which does suck but overall I really enjoyed my time with this series, it was a good read that had me on my seat. The second half got really “flashback” heavy but I loved what I read, I would wish that this could get an English printing so here’s hope.

!! عن نفسي كتابة كل شخصية كان ولا اروع و plot twist was amazing I really didn't expect that والشي الحلو انه الفصل الجانبي كان حلو وخفيف انصحكم وبقوة في قراءة المانجا لانه راح تستمتعو في قرائتها وتحليل الاحداث.
All in all, it was a pretty decent reading experience. I do think it ended rather verbosely, it doesn't seem to trust the reader very much, not leaving much to the imagination. I hope the writer, mr. Inoryu, do get more self-confidence, cause he got great potential. On the other hand, the art from Mr. Itou was excellent. Really great work.
Thank god I finish this fast HAHA. This manga was a whole rollercoaster of emotions and plot twist. I just don't want to experience it anymore since i'm just a soft marshmallow and most of the times i just want some i want cutesy romance and stupid comedy so this is a good change of pace i guess. My whole brain is just blank at the moment.
this was such an amazing manga. I didn't expect to like it this much. an underrated jewel. can't wait to read more things from the author. I'm so happy eiji urashima isn't fully dead, and I'm happy eiji hachinoi is doing better and starting to heal. he deserves to live a good and peaceful life.
