When Paddington Sees an outdoor art exhibition and decides to learn how to paint.

One Sunday Paddington was out for a walk with his friend Mr. Gruber, when they came across some paintings tied to the railings outside a park.Paddington is intrigued by all the foot traffic and art strewn about.
"All the paintings are for sale," Mr. Gruber explained.Paddington is intrigued by this little Outdoor Exhibition but the artwork isn't quite his style.
"This one is called 'Sunset in Bombay'."Some paintings are too bright, others too wavy...and none are the way Paddington likes them....but he knows what to do.
"I'm glad I don't live in Bombay," said Paddington. "It might keep me awake all night"
Let's just say that paint will fly...in every direction!
I adore the friendship between Mr. Gruber and Paddington - the little art walk was such a fun little adventure for the two of them.
The art of the story (both the characters, and Paddington's paintings) was so very cute. I love all of these characters so much and just cannot wait for the next one!

I seem to be spending quite some time with Paddington Bear just lately for he is again. This time he visits an outdoor exhibition of paintings [there was one every Sunday morning on the Bayswater Road close to where I lived when I first went to London but as I had no money at the time, my purchase of art was severely restricted but I have made up for it in later life!] and he surveys the paintings very closely.
When shown 'Sunset in Bombay' by his companion Mr Gruber, Paddington says, 'It might keep me awake all night' and another, 'Storm at Sea', has him exclaim, 'I feel sick'! But he thinks a self portrait that he sees is remarkably like the artist and it inspires him to get his paints and brushes out when he gets home to 32 Windsor Gardens and he retires to the garden to commence his artwork.
He completes a number of paintings and the following Sunday, after his weekly walk with Mr Gruber, he tells his friend that he is having his own exhibition outside his house. He sets up his paintings, including a self portrait that is signed with his trademark paw print, and awaits customers. But, sadly, none come, and he falls asleep.
When he wakens he discovers his paintings all gone but in his belt is an envelope with some money and a note of thanks. He is thrilled and rushes in to tell Mr and Mrs Brown, who, even if they did recognise the writing (can you guess whose it is?), they do not tell the excited Paddington. And the latter is so pleased he decides that he will carry on painting and he immediately begins to paint a family portrait, which has everybody smiling. So everybody is happy!

This is a story of Paddington the Bear who ends up doing his own paintings and wants to sell them. He realises that painting is harder than he thought.

George's rating not mine, he was too impatient and kept trying to close the book "Georgie pictures, me paintin" would have been a DNF if it wasn't for me holding the book out of his reach lolz

Lovely little read for toddlers, a little life lesson for kids and for you as parent wrapped in the story. Good literature for a toddler bookshelf.

Mama bought this book a long, long time ago in London. I like the bear's read hat and trench coat. Mama told me that the first time she went to London, her coat and hat looked just like that..and she didn't even know who Paddington was. Shortly after she found out, she stopped wearing the hat and coat cause she didn't want to look like a story bear.

I read this today on my trip to Harrods. It's such a cute story. I loved the way Paddington takes on the challenge of art and how his friend, Mr. Guber quietly encourages him to keep painting without the bear even knowing it. I like this book because it had a good message for kids to gain from the story opposed to some other children's books I've read recently.

After seeing an Outdoor exhibition where there were paintings for sale after a walk with Mr Gruber Paddington takes up painting himself. Very cute story.
