It is absolutely unbelievable what mathematicians and scientists discovered in the 16th and 17th centuries. Not only did Kepler write three laws of planetary motion that are still upheld today, but, more importantly, he was a devout Christian. Fascinating story.

A favorite quote that I think Kepler actually said was: "We stand on the shoulders of giants." Sometimes we forget that the technological advancements we have today are a result of the sweat and tears, hard work and devotion of men like Kepler.

Kepler's life as portrayed in this book inspired me to keep searching for truth, to be a better follower of Christ, and to be a devoted student of science. This was a very fascinating book, especially since I read it at about the time I was studying Kepler's laws in science.

This book was very interesting...But since I am not the kind of person that enjoys Mathematics and Science, it wasn't really my kind of book. But if you find Math and Science interesting, I would highly recommend this book to you! One of the things I liked about this book is that Tiner makes sure that it is obvious that Johannes Kepler was indeed a Christian, and he loved Math and Science very much.

Written for young people, this book introduces us to the German astronomer and mathematician Johannes Kepler (1571 - 1630). He was born into an exciting time period, a time when faith in God and belief in the Scriptures was in severe testing. Nothing about his family life and education was easy or something he could take for granted. However, in spite of tremendous difficulties, Johannes spent hours of careful study to be a scholar and professor in universities, able to converse with Galileo (mail correspondence) and Tycho Brahe (in person). He wrote three astronomical books, Cosmic Mystery, The New Astronomy, and Harmony of the Worlds.
John Hudson Tiner has included illustrations, maps, an index, and a bibliography. He has presented the information so that the reader wants to investigate more, realizing this life has much to offer us even today.

The hours of sacrifice and study that these great scientists put in show the lack of discipline and character today. We no longer see the determination that great men had before. It is all too easy to give up and quit today. Johannes Kepler was a humble man who truly wanted God to be glorified in and through his studies and the order of the universe. He rejected religion but held on to the truths from the Word of God. He was not afraid to stand strong on his conviction that the Bible and science worked hand and hand.

I enjoyed this book very much. Im amazed at how he started in life... a small, weak, skinny boy that kept getting ill, to on of the greatest astronomers and fathers of science in our world's history. He combined both science with faith, and gave him fame that he didn't seek for. This book really helped me to underestand astronomy better. It actually has encouraged me to learn about the subject!! Now, every time I look at the moon or stars, I shall know that Kepler knew all of their mysteries.

Fantastic account of the life of a man who loved the Lord with devotion and sought to understand the world better through science, math, and reason. Definitely recommend for anyone interested in learning about this scientist who created a base for so much learning.

I enjoyed this book very much. I found it extremely interesting and learned many things. I had to read this book for school and I had to write a paper using the information I got 100 percent on that paper. I completely recommend this book.

Good book about Johannes Kepler’s life and scientific discoveries that kept in the forefront the fact that he was a Christian. He began his academic career as a student of the Bible, the book says, and he never turned from that study. His joy and passion for studying God’s creation never ended.

I knew near nothing about Kepler before reading this book. I can say I admire him now. His life, work, and especially his character fascinated me. I can't wait to read his books and even another bio in the future.

I love this series of biographies!! The authors show great wisdom in defining terms as necessary, but also researching the spiritual lives of the characters, instead of focusing only on their public contribution. Kepler was an amazing scientist with a unique contribution to Christian faith, and this book is a great resource for middle school readers.
