Despite his plans to marry his childhood friend Megan MacPherson, highland laird Derek Hardwicke is irrestibly drawn to Lady Rosalyn Carmichael, a lovely English girl on the run from her evil stepbrother, who will do anything to seize control of her inheritance.
Before she discovered romantic fiction, Melanie George was the CEO of an executive-search consulting firm. Her most important job, however, has always been that of mother, to both a much-adored son and two precious dogs.
When she is not writing, she is trying to restore her hundred-year-old house and has come to the conclusion that paint speckles will more than likely be a permanent part of her person.
No star rating intended. Book opens with a very graphic erotic scene which doesn't help the plot and the reaction of the virginal female protagonist to this scene makes no sense. Characters jump in from nowhere. Writing is unorganized; story is mainly erotic fiction with little to nothing to do with the highlander genre. No description. Bad characterizations and non-existant editing.
I'd be interested in someone doing the math and figuring out what percentage of this book is either the H and h fantasizing about having sex or having sex. When so much of the book is wasted on descriptions of sex there is little left for character and plot development. Certainly there was no rising tension or building interest in what happens.
I gave this no stars. Very poor story. Well the story could have been better. But the woman was a wanton from the start. She seen a blowjob so now when she has dreams it's of hot sex. Totally out of place. For being a virgin she sure did know what was suppose to happen. And for that time frame, being that I never even seen a year mentions, was so wrong. She's perfectly happy being his whore and that didn't even fit in. Poor book. One day I may get around to reading the first 2. Kinda bland on the death of the evil step brother. Ethan says he's dead and bam, we just take his word for it and so does everyone else. It left you hanging at the end with more sex and never let on could she ever really have kids or not.
This book was very disjointed, starts off out of the blue and just throws random info at the reader. The plot was decent if it had been flushed out a bit more. Character and romance development was sparse. The thickness of this book looks like it should be a longer read than it was due to a larger prints and wider than normal margins. I wonder if this story relys on character development that may have developed in a previous book in the series? The book ends to quickly with the feeling of things not being fully resolved. Finally, the title is inappropriate for the story. It did keep me interested enough to read the whole book so it got 2 stars in my review.
Overall, a good story with a sweetly innocent heroine who has a more adventurous side and adds a good dose of realistic expectations to her life. A hero who is virtually perfect! A simple yet, catching plot. The ending felt somewhat rushed, and the hero missed out on all the fun of the heroine's dangerous moment which really deflated the climax. Oh well, still an enjoyable read!
it seems everything was rushed, the entire storyline. there were many references to the previous book that left me a little lost. the ending was very quick without substantial meaning
