A steamy, yet clean Romance Novel.
When Evie falls in love with Calvin Knight, their young, virtuous romance conjures a truly wicked spell.

Evie always thought her eighteenth year would be magical, but so far it's not what she hoped for. Her best friend has gone wild, her love life is void, and she misses her mom more than ever. But life for Evie is about to change. Calvin Knight, the object of her fascination, is about to fall madly in love with her. Just one problem: Their love conjures a murderous woman from beyond the grave who wants Evie dead. The same demon who has haunted the Knight men for over four generations. Soon Calvin is forced to make a choice: Set Evie free and hope to evade the wrath of The Raven- haired Ghost, or use his newly gifted strengths to fight against her. I have to admit that I stumbled upon Evie's Knight by pure accident and after reading the synopsis I was very intrigued. I remember reading it out loud to one of my co-workers and, after expressing my desire to give it a try, seeing the look of complete shock on her face. You see... this is not a book that I would typically read. I am not into ghost type stories. In fact, this is only the second "ghost" book that I have ever made it through. And I'm glad that I did! I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

I have been in that dreaded reading slump lately and was getting desperate for a really good book! So desperate in fact that on my lunch I was literally reading the first chapter to the books on my Kindle in hopes that something would jump out and grab me. And the moment I read Evie's encounter at the gas station I was hooked! It was hilarious! At that point the book turned into a movie in my head. I was able to feel every single emotion that the characters were feeling. I was happy... sad... angry... depressed... in love... scared... you name it and I more than likely felt it! Don't you just love it when that happens?!

When Evie falls in love with Calvin Knight, their young, virtuous romance conjures a truly wicked spell. There's a murderous woman from beyond the grave who wants Evie dead. The same demon who has haunted the Knight men for over four generations. Soon Calvin is forced to make a choice: Set Evie free and hope to evade the wrath of The Raven- haired Ghost, or use his newly gifted strengths to fight against her. If he chooses to fight and wins, Calvin will free the Knight men of this demonic witch. If he loses, Evie will become her next victim.

I loved Evie! Her life hasn't always been peaches and cream but she has this way of picking herself back up, brushing the dirt off and moving forward. It's never easy but she just knows that in the end, everything will be okay. She starts to feel complete and everything kind of just falls into place when Calvin comes into her life.

Speaking of Calvin... *insert dreamy sigh here while shaking my head* Oh how I loved him! But then... I hated him! But then... I loved him again! That man was wrecking havoc on my emotions! At one point he thought he was protecting Evie and doing what was best by breaking up with her. (Oh... and P.S. I'm off to the side yelling at him and calling him all kinds of names! Scum sucking dog was the first to come out! LOL.) But then, with the help of his brother Parker, he realizes that he was wrong and he needs her in his life just as much as she needs him. (And yes... at that point I apologized and started loving him again! Hehe.) I loved how after he reaches that decision, Evie shows up at his house to confront him and pretty much just lays into him. It was amazing! I was cheering her on the entire time! :o)

And Barker! I mean Packer! Oh wait.. no... it's Parker! (LOL! I love Fiona!) He was a Mr. Darcy for me. I hated him in the beginning but then, as his character developed, he kind of grew on me and I could see exactly why he was the way he was. He turned out to be pretty amazing and yes... I loved him too! I think he really has met his match with Fiona! Can't wait to see where there story goes in Fiona's Fight! I can already tell that's going to be just as good! :o)

In the end, I am very glad I stumbled upon Evie's Knight and decided to give it a chance. Any author who can get me out of the dreaded reading slump is a keeper and needs to be added to my favorites list! Thank you Ms. Kimberly Krey! You have definitely been added to that list! Can't wait for your next adventure! :o)

I received this book through Goodreads First Reads. The whole book was an awesome read and the writing was smooth and alluring. The cover of the book is very beautiful and it really caught my eye. I loved how the chemistry between Evie and Calvin grew and how much Calvin was willing to sacrifice for her. Their love for each other was so pure and honest ( =( I wish I had someone like that). The way the author wrote about their romance was believable and steamy although it didn't have any inappropriate parts to it.
Calvin was the perfect dream boy any girl would want. He was strong, courageous, and hot! The superpowers only added to his irresistible demeanor. He was caring, sweet and would do anything for his brother, Parker, even at his own life's risk. He even respected Evie's wishes to wait till after they're married which says a lot about his amazing character. Evie was a sweet, courteous girl and I could really sympathize with her and Calvin when they talked about losing their mothers because their characters were so powerful.
This book was thoroughly enjoyable, especially Evie and Calvin's delicious romance.

Evie has a bit of a sad life, and it appears to be on a downward spiral. Her mom is gone, her and her dad are both sad with out her, and now her best friend in the world has started hanging out with a party girl, knowing that Evie isn't into that scene at all. But her world changes when she officially meets Calvin Knight, a boy in her art class. Their worlds collide in a way that no one expected, unleashing a curse on the Knight men- the women they will love will be taken away from them. Calvin fears for Evie's life. He must decide whether or not he can beat the Raven haired ghost and save his love.... Or lose Evie forever.

-----

I have to say, I loved this book way more than I expected. It took a different turn than I thought, making this story one that I will remember.

+Calvin. Calvin earns three stars on his own. I love him. He will be the newest member of my fictional boyfriends list. He is soft spoken, but protective and aggressive when he needs to be. He's caring, thoughtful, and sexily bilingual. I don't know how Evie resisted the urge to surrender herself to him. I was sexually frustrated for her.

+I really liked the uniqueness of the paranormal aspects of this book. Calvin and his brother, Parker, develop powers to help beat the ghost. This gave the story more of a superhero type feeling, as opposed to the witchcraft like powers that I was expecting. I also liked that they struggled with their powers. There was no instant satisfaction and mastery of their talents.

+I appreciated the cleanliness of Evie's Knight. I'm not shy or prude in anyway, and enjoy more.... Colorful novels now and then. I liked that this book portrayed romance without an abundance of sex. It made it seem more realistic, and yes, I am saying that about a book where they have to hunt a ghost.

+Calvin. Did I mention that?

+- There were quite a bit of fight scenes. It is my own personal hangup- I get bored and confused during them. They seemed well written, so I'm not marking this as positive or negative. It's just my own issue of trying to picture a fist fight in my head... It doesn't usually go well.

+-The Loft is the training ground for Parker and Calvin. I'm still not sure how to feel. Calvin can decorate it however he wishes, using his art skills and his mind. Upon the first description of this place, I got a really weird image of the old music video for Take on Me from the 80's, and it disturbed me. But later he used it to create a really romantic space that sounded lovely. My opinion is torn on this part.

-There were some odd time jumps in this book. A new chapter would start and it would be a month later. The author always made a point to announce that fact, but it still gave an otherwise smooth plot line a bit of a rough edge.

Evie's Knight is a clean paranormal romance that has a lack of both vampires and werewolves. I found the lead male to be amazingly attractive, the action easy to get sucked into, and the natural settings of the Utah area gorgeous. If Twilight, Jumper, The Covenant, and a Mexican soap opera had a baby, it would be this story. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, then give this book a shot. If paranormal isn't your thing, then this isn't for you. This book gets a solid four stars.

The prologue starts off creepy and dark. I wasn’t sure I wanted to read anymore, but as soon as I started the first chapter, I felt lifted up with Evie’s sweet countenance. Evie is sweet and innocent and wants to stay that way and has worked hard to be a good person. She has suffered loss and wants to feel loved.

Evie’s friend, Kelly, isn’t a perfect friend but a friend who kind of accepts who she is. Their friendship is tested.

Evie has had her eye on Calvin Knight and he has had his eye on her too. They really start talking at a gas station, where Evie fumbles because she knows Calvin is watching. He rescues her and makes her feel comfortable. They come together and he accepts her for who she is and what her standards are. As their friendship blossoms, strange things start happening. Calvin has always heard of the curse of his family and has always wondered if there was any truth to it since he started having dreams. His father and brother think he is ridiculous for believing in it.

Then one night everything becomes clear and Calvin and his brother Parker know for a surety of this curse and they are given “gifts”. They are super strong, can defy gravity and other various gifts are given them to help them fight off this mad witch who kills off the women the Knights love. Calvin is fiercely protective of Evie and is afraid she will die.

The action scene in the end had me on my toes wondering what would happen next.

Fiona is their guide to all things supernatural. Parker and she seem to become a couple and I hope there is another book about them.

Overall, if you like a book where you can be yourself and have others accept you for your values and not challenge them and like paranormal, then this book is for you.

I've been wanting to read this one for a long time and I'm
glad I finally did. This was a fun New Adult Urban Fantasy. I liked that the H/h we're a little older and in college (so many fantasies I read are YA), I think this book would appear to any age. Anyway, fun story with likable characters and a fun storyline.

Romance: Clean, kissing

4.5 Wow this author has one hell of an imagination. Here I was thinking that this was about The Knight men falling in love only to loose them due to a curse put on them by a crazy women. Oh yeah that is true but it was so much more. I loved Calvin. What passionate, protective, possessive and sweet man. This would probably be listed as NA, since they are in collage and all.

For those of you who were wondering there are plenty of kisses but No sex. But don't be disappointed this was a great romance. With a magical feel to it. I was thrilled and captivated by the world that was created when Fiona came onto the pages. Seriously I was like what the heck! That is so freaking cool.

I really hope this author continues on with this story. I heard there may be something about Fiona and since she is such a mystery that would be so great!

If only one word could be used to describe Evie's Knight the one that instantly comes to mind is beautiful. Kimberly Krey has a natural gift for writing, and has created a story that not only entertains but touches the heart.

Evie's Knight was a work of art in itself being equal parts romantic, suspenseful, artistic, and unique. The story was very original and strayed from the sometimes over-used cliches of other books in the genre of paranormal romance. I really enjoyed the reoccurring themes of art, desire, food, and darkness that helped shape the overall vibe of the book.

The characters were terrific, diverse, and lovable, and far from any plain Jane or Susie Q. Each character Kimberly had created were so real, relate-able, and filled with their own flaws and quirks that made them unique and believable. Evie was a strong voiced leading lady that had me rooting for her the entire time. Calvin was irresistibly delicious like the food Evie cooked throughout the story. Parker, Calvin's older brother, was a funny smart mouth with a cocky side but a great character nonetheless that you could never bring yourself to hate. You know that an author has created a great male character when the readers are wishing they had their very own Calvin Knight for themselves. The action scenes were wonderfully executed and I found myself cringing and grimacing at times while reading them. It's also admirable how Krey was able to keep the romance clean but still make your blood heat up.

Beautiful, well described imagery created an experience for the senses as well as the imagination. My freshman year of college was similar to that of Evie Wylder minus hunky Calvin Knight and an evil witch trying to kill me, which helped me relate to the main character. Having a friend much like Kelly, Evie's best friend, get engrossed in a world of constant partying, drinking, and going wild I felt the loss all over again while reading this book. I wasn't even a quarter way through the book when a classic love song began playing in my head that seemed to appropriately capture the passion between Evie and Calvin, and that song would be Enrique Iglesias's Hero. After you read the book, listen to that song, you'll understand what I'm saying.

The emotion in this book is raw and was so greatly written my emotions were all over the place while reading Evie's Knight. Whether you thirst for romance, the supernatural and paranormal, adventure, suspense, action, or just a downright good book Evie's Knight is a novel that can reach out to a diverse group of readers. In my opinion, Evie's Knight deserves way more reads, and not just because it made it to my favorite books' shelf, but also because it's just awesome.

I enjoyed the plot line of Evie's Knight. The story really drew me in in the beginning. Evie and Calvin take an art class together in college and of course Evie has a crush on Calvin because he is so hot. Evie and Calvin's art class scenes were great. I loved the description of Calvin's artwork. Who doesn't love a guy who is manly and artistic ;) What Evie quickly learns is that Calvin has a crush on her too and romance ensues.

Calvin and Evie fall in love, but Calvin has reservations about their relationship because he believes in the old family curse. The curse goes back generations to when his ancestor refused to join his lover Jocelyn in a suicide pact. Jocelyn believed they would be greater in death, so she took her life. When he refused, she began to take her revenge on all of the women that the Knight men loved.

Calvin's grandmother and mother both died untimely deaths, and Calvin does not want that for Evie. His father believes it is foolish and that the curse is not real. But the Raven-haired ghost is all too real. And time is running out to stop her from taking Evie's life.

Through a series of events, Calvin and his wild brother Parker, become involved in a supernatural training program with a woman named Fiona to prepare themselves for the ultimate showdown. When the events play out the way they are destined to play out, Calvin and Parker are put to the test. Will they succeed or will Calvin lose Evie in the way that he fears the most. You will have to read this for yourself to find out :)

I really wanted to love this book. I loved the plot and the idea behind it. The beginning really drew me in and the ending was really good. I just felt there were a lot of scenes that could have been cut to make it a much more concise book. It took me a long time to get through that middle part. It is a clean read with a lot of steamy romance. I think this book would be well-suited to the younger adult set. I've read lots of young adult books, so it's not the genre. I am not a huge fan of dialog and there is are pages and pages of talking. I'm more of a narrative type girl with dialog thrown in.

If you are a fan of contemporary young adult fantasy, this is definitely a book you need to try! I do hope that she continues the story with the other characters. I'd love to find out where Evie's mother is. I really thought that she would play a part in this book and was disappointed that she didn't.

I really enjoyed the first 1/3 of this book. The relationship between Evie & Calvin was one I that was fun to read. I hadn't read the book summary and was surprised when this took a turn towards the paranormal. There was talk of a curse but I didn't realize reading the first part of the story that it was more than just a superstition. The story took a sudden turn when Calvin has magical powers suddenly develop to help him fight the curse. While I finished the book I didn't enjoy the rest of it nearly as much as I did the first part. Calvin's training seemed to drag on forever and didn't interest me. There was a lot of fighting which isn't something I enjoy reading. There were also a few words that I found to be over used which started to detract from the storytelling.

That said I did like this book. There was some great chemistry between Evie & Calvin. Although there were some pretty intense make-out scenes both characters had lines they would not cross. If Kimberly writes another book I will definitely read it.

Rating: 3.5 Stars - Good Book

Content: There was more language than I expected and a clubbing scene with some groping that takes place. Not over the top but not for younger teens.

Genre/Reading Level: Paranormal Romance for ages 16 - 18+

I'm so, so happy to be a part of this blog tour for Evie's Knight. I was super excited when I joined in and I've been looking forward to reading this book. The draw for me was the "clean romance" because that is my favorite kind of read.

I just loved the opening scene at the gas station. It seriously hooked me right there. I just knew there were going to be steamy things to come with Calvin and Evie. And I was right! Calvin is a good guy. Plain and simple. He has that protective nature that you love but also hate. (because seriously? leaving a girl to protect her? that just never ends well and it's just dumb. such a waste of time.) I'm sure you can tell that I did in no way become emotionally involved with this book. . . Honestly, I just loved Calvin. I just wish at some moments he didn't have to be so, um, knightly. :)

I liked the paranormal twist with the freaky witch ghost girl. There were some good give you chills moments.

I really liked the kissing. Sometimes I was as frustrated as Evie when she didn't get more kisses. :) Overall, a very enjoyable read. The supporting characters were great and the interactions and dialogue felt real and flowed well. I'm going to be looking for more clean romance from this author. I sure hope she is busy writing! Like, right now. :)

Oh, and as far as content, there are a few instances of mild swearing.

Evie is your typical college students until she meets Calvin Knight. From the moment they meet in a gas station, her life changes. Her best friend turns into a partying fiend, her psychologist dad is trying to analyze her every move, and she misses her mom more than ever. But, once Calvin Knight enters into her life, everything changes. From the beginning of their romance, things are a little off and the more they fall in love, the odder things become. What Evie doesn’t know is that the Knight family is cursed. And when Evie and Calvin fell in love, it conjured up the old curse; a murderous woman from beyond the grave who will stop at no costs to claim Calvin as her own. Once Calvin realizes the curse is real, he is forced to make a decision. Does he break ties with Evie and hope the murderous woman goes back into the underworld, or use his new gifts to fight against her. If he fights and wins, he’ll free the Knight family of the curse forever. But, if he loses, Evie dies and he’ll be stuck in the underworld for eternity.

LOVED! At first, I was reading it just because I knew the author, but from the first chapter, I was reading because I was immediately enamored by the characters. The writing style was scintillating and clairvoyant. The characters charming and auspicious. LOVED this!!! I was not expecting the twist in the story, or the results of the twist. I also loved that I would not be embarrassed if my mom or younger sisters read this, because there were no sketchy parts.

WARNING! MAY CONTAIN SLIGHT SPOILER!

On a deeper level, I feel that the author touched on some pretty intense real live issues. One of which that spoke to me was the fact that Evie chose not to give herself to anyone. She had a very high moral standard. One of the factors was that she was worried that Calvin would not stay with her because of this. This is a real fear for those who choose to not give themselves to anyone until they are married. I loved that Calvin did stay with her despite this fact, and he even loved her more because of it. :)

Is it weird to review a book by calling it weird? There were parts of this book I really enjoyed, but I felt like I was reading two different books. One clean romance and the other Sci-fi. Yes, some books go together like this, but for some reason, I just didn't think the two fit well. I like Evie and Calvin. I thought they were great but it was pretty much a tension free romance. It happened right at the beginning and then just had up and downs through out the book. On a side note my favorite part of the book was when Evie went to approach Calvin about the "red head" and she actually showed some spine. I like that in my leading lady. Over-all it kept my interest but I don't think I will read any of the rest of the series.

The author's writing was wonderful. I really liked the book setting as I grew up in Utah. I recognized places she described in the book which I loved....It made me slightly homesick ;) The love story was really good... when all of the supernatural stuff started to happen it had some cheesy moments but so do any other supernatural books. This story was definitely original though....a fresh break from vampires!

Enjoyable book candy. Just what i was in the mood for. It managed to have great chemistry without being dirty. (Not for young kids however.) It hedged on being a little cheesy at times but I was in the mood not to care.

I liked this book, but I didn't find it as amazing as other reviewers. The story was unique , but there were some boring parts and I found myself skimming over pages. I wanted to know more about Fiona and where she came from. I think there should be another story with Parker and Fiona.

It's hard to pin EVIE'S KNIGHT down to a specific genre. It has the title of a fantasy romance, which is a clever pun because the name of the male love interest is Calvin Knight. Calvin isn't a knight from lore long ago, nor is he reincarnated in any way. In fact, the novel is grounded in contemporary, modern-day times. There are a few scenes (such as the excerpt from the above prologue) that reflect on something that happened long ago, resulting in a curse that has carried over to now. Because of the curse, there is a fantasy (or perhaps paranormal; the line is blurred in this book, for me. I would actually lean more toward fantasy and less toward paranormal, myself) element to bring the story away from the ordinary.

While the book opens with a scene from the past, it quickly speeds up to show readers the typical everyday life of Evie Wylder, who stops to pick up her best friend on her way to classes (She's in college, so this book could also technically be considered New Adult, even though New Adult is taking on the connotation of being about smutty romance, which EVIE'S KNIGHT is not), then runs out of gas and embarrasses herself in front of Calvin Knight, a gorgeous guy from her art class. (See the scene in this excerpt!) Soon, Evie and Calvin become art critiquing partners, then friends, then boyfriend/girlfriend. The only problem? By falling in love, Calvin has opened up an age-old curse, and a scorned woman trapped between worlds is bent on revenge and about to destroy everything that Evie and Calvin have built together.

EVIE'S KNIGHT isn't your typical romance. It's blended with fantasy, revenge, and more. Watching Calvin and his wayward older brother Parker bond together in order to protect loved ones from the curse opened up new aspects of the story I hadn't expected to see as each brother gains special abilities for the ensuing fight. Parker himself is an interesting character, going from someone vile and hated to a guy who has his own story today. Since EVIE'S KNIGHT is flagging as a series despite the fact that it ended and had no cliffhanger, I'm wondering if there will be a companion novel centered around Parker. It certainly wouldn't surprise me, and I already have thoughts as to what could happen in that book. If another book is written, I do hope the supporting characters are more rounded-out. Soon after beginning to hang out with Calvin more and more, Evie falls out of touch with Kelly, the best friend we meet in the first chapter. Kelly starts hanging out with other people and excluding Evie, but Evie also excludes Kelly by spending all of her time with Calvin. Kelly comes back into the picture for a brief period later on, then disappears again, more of a convenience than a character integral to the plot. At the same time, other characters come into the story and become important as it shifts and changes once the curse becomes reality, no longer just a dream.

One of my favorite things about EVIE'S KNIGHT was the way art is brought into the story. I feel that author Kimberly Krey must be an artist herself. She'll mention pencil brands, special techniques used in paintings, the way paint looks as a brush is thrust into a cup of water... Things I don't normally think of when art comes to mind. She goes even further, and makes the place where Calvin and Parker train for battle into something artsy and new, too, as well as another place that's too spoilery to mention. There's also a fantastic scene with Calvin and Evie that's very artsy and sweet...and spoilery, so I'll leave it there. Just seeing the way art slips into the story and becomes a part of it intrigues me. I can't envision EVIE'S KNIGHT without the art, and really felt this element come alive in a way I haven't with other books featuring artists. If Krey does, in fact, come out with a sequel or companion novel, it will be interesting to see what element she'll steep into the story next.

Thanks to Kimberly for allowing a chance to read and review this book, as I have been looking forward to it for months.
Today, I finally got around to reading this on my Kindle, and I spent the whole day just reading it. It was unstoppable. A definite page-turner.

We are introduced to the story of Evie and her personal Knight, Calvin. It's a story of two people who have come together, but the past, revenge and fate try to tear them apart.
Evie has always liked Calvin, but they hadn't actually talked before. That is until one day.... they do, and from that moment on... their fate and everything that comes afterward is put into motion. From the very first encounter, their lives would never be the same again.
The closer they become, the more Calvin starts to believe the stories his grandfather kept telling him as a child. That the men in their family, the Knight men. Are cursed.

When Calvin and his brother, Parker meet the mysterious-who-knows-too-much waitress, Fiona, something unexpected happens. When its discovered that their futures have been designed because of a long-ago grudge, a now spirit/ghost has on their family, the boys along with Fiona attempt to do something that could either set them free, or kill them...giving this woman what she wants to begin with. One of them.
Its basically a race against time if they ever want a chance to stop the past repeating once again, and to have some kind of future.

Evie is great. I really liked her. She is strong for a female lead, and while it might seem she was dependant upon Calvin and the relationship they have, it wasn't something that was a bad thing. Together they made one another stronger than they were apart.
She has been through more than most people. That is something she and Calvin have in common, and I'd imagine one of the things that probably bonded them to one another. They know what it is like to experience a loss. But even though their losses are slightly different, there was that connection between them that they understood each other's pain.

Calvin is an interesting character. Like I mentioned about, he has had his fair share of loss. But not only that, he has to look after his brother, who seems to be a irresponsible guy who gets drunk and does something stupid most of the time. Being the older brother, Calvin feels he has to fix his problems and make sure he is alright. That can sometimes feel like a burden.
But meeting Evie's, it's like for once in his life... he can actually live.. and not worry about his brother or anything else. He is free to just be himself and love. But of course, that itself comes with all sort of complications....

Kimberly did such a great job with this story. It exceeded all my expectations I might have had coming into this story. It was such a fresh take on the urban fantasy genre. There was so much to love about the story of Evie and her Knight, Calvin. We have falling in love for the first time, heartbreak, revenge, family, loyalty, happiness and the satisfaction of their story coming to the place where it was meant to be.
So much happened, and I didn't feel like I had just read one book. I felt like I had just been on an incredible journey for so long and enjoyed every moment of it.

I'd recommend this to anyone who loves a good, well-written romance.

When I read a book for review purposes, I try to avoid any online information or other reviews before I dive in. Not always possible, especially if I'm already familiar with the author, but with Evie's Knight I was able to do it. So, I came to the book knowing little more than the fact that it would include both romance and the paranormal.

I must admit that the first few chapters didn't have me entranced. The story seemed like a standard late-teen contemporary romance and, although I liked the main character, she suffered from a few things that normally annoy me in such a book. For example, it seemed like every other paragraph extolled the perfectly handsome features of Calvin Knight. Now, in fairness, that was my impression, and it wasn't mentioned nearly as much as that. It's been a long time since I was an 18 year-old college freshman, too, so I try to read YA books with that in mind. I'd consider Evie's Knight to be a book for readers in their late teens that can also be enjoyed by paranormal romance fans of any age.

After the first few chapters, though, the story took on a deeper tone and I really enjoyed the relationship that built between Calvin and Evie. It was a sweet romance with just the right amount of gushy innocence to balance out a bit of heat and passion. I also enjoyed how Krey wove the fact that both were interested in art into their relationship. That, coupled with some shared emotional baggage, made the pair more realistic and provided lots of depth.

Just when I thought I had this story pegged as a teen romance with light slipstream paranormal aspects, Krey makes a rather sudden shift in the narrative. This caught me off guard and was a bit jarring as a reader, but since the change would have impacted the characters in the same way, that's probably appropriate. Suddenly, Calvin and his brother Parker are sucked into a mysterious world with special gifts, family curses, and the Raven-haired Ghost. With the shift in gears comes a bit of confusion for both the characters and the readers, but I think Krey does a decent job of pulling everyone back in. I also think Krey did a great job of foreshadowing the later action in Calvin's protective nature in the beginning of the book.

I really enjoyed Evie's Knight. It was a fun book that went a step beyond what you might call a "light Saturday night read." Although the writing wasn't perfect, it was certainly better than a lot of indie books I've seen and better even than many traditionally published books. The plot was involved, the side characters were well done, and the romance was sweet and interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good older teen/post high school novel, as well as to readers who enjoy interesting adventures in the area of paranormal romance. It is definitely worth reading past the first few chapters to get the heart of the story with this one!

I received Evie’s Knight in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by Prism Book Tours. Evie is finally done with high school she’s moved on to college where she’s taking art classes and hoping to enjoy her life. Her best friend Kelly has decided to move out and live in a caste with a zillion other roommates and getting a job so that between school, work and parties she won’t have time for Evie. Which makes her sad but she’s not into the kind of parties that Kelly has been going to. Thankfully Evie has a love interest that she happens to share an art class with. The Handsome Calvin Knight, who she’s been crushing on but just hasn’t gotten to know.

When Calvin suddenly wants to spend time with her, showing an interest in her art Evie is head over heels. They each have their own stories as to the loss of their mothers, be it deceased or just abandonment. Things change as Calvin starts to fall in love with Evie, an ancient evil that has haunted the men in his family for generations has her heart set on destroying Calvin’s relationship with Evie. A long time ago Calvin’s great-great grandfather rejected Jocelyn’s desire to join her in the underworld. She vowed to ruin every chance at love that he and future generations had, she also intends to claim one of his descendants as her own and has her eyes set on Calvin. With the help of a new friend, his brother and some special powers Calvin may have what it takes to save Evie.

I found Evie’s Knight to be a perfect mix of romance and fantasy. I found the concept for the story-line intriguing it drew me in right from the start and I had a hard time putting it down over the couple of days it took me. I found the story well written it flows smoothly throughout the whole book. It’s one I can see teenagers as well as adults enjoying because even though it’s a romance it’s a clean one. Throughout the book we are given perspectives from both Evie and Calvin which I think is great because I was able to connect to both characters. I think Calvin is perfect for Evie though him she’s be able to move pass the obsession of her mother not coming back, plus when her best friend moved on she needed someone strong to be there for her. I enjoyed the fantasy aspects also, they keep the story fresh and exciting it’s very enjoyable. I look forward to seeing what else Kimberly Krey comes up with because for me this one was perfect it’s exactly what I want in a book.

I was quite surprised by how much I liked Evie’s Knight by Kimberly Krey. Don’t get me wrong; I expected to like it. I wouldn’t have agreed to take part in the tour otherwise. I have just read so many books that sound really good but fall flat – let’s just say I was cautiously optimistic.

Caution wasn’t really all that necessary.

I was sucked in right from the beginning, and was kept interested throughout. This book could easily have been part of a series, but it’s self-contained. And that’s pretty darn cool, if you ask me!

Evie and Calvin are pretty neat characters, and I even found myself liking Parker more as we got to know him better. Yes, there were some typical, somewhat predictable, occurrences in this book, but the characters and details are different enough that it doesn’t hurt the story. Plus, if you think you know what’s going on, you’re wrong. At least, I was about a few things.

There are a few things I’d like more of in the book:

Evies family, especially her mom. I would have liked to have more memories, more information, and maybe even her resurface or something.

Calvin and Parker’s dad. What little we see of him is great, but I wanted to learn more about him. And I think he should’ve been part of the whole Jocelyn thing.

School. We start out with Evie and Calvin meeting in college, and soon – except in occasional conversation – school is all but forgotten. I get that their studies aren’t the main focus, but more details would have given the characters greater depth.

A little more at the end. We get the general gist of things, but I felt the end was a bit abrupt. Yes, everything is over. Yes, ends are tied. But, I wouldn’t have minded a few more pages to close things out.

Despite those few things I felt were lacking, I really enjoyed the book. I know this review is somewhat vague, but I don’t want to divulge details that are better left for you to discover on your own.

This book starts out as a sweet little love story. Evie has always admired Calvin Knight from afar and when he starts showing interest in her, she is instantly smitten. He is perfect in every way. When he starts having disturbing dreams he remembers the curse that his grandfather told him about as a young child. A curse shall fall upon all the Knight men and destroy the women they love. What he always thought of as nonsense, suddenly starts to make sense. He has to protect Evie at all cost. With the help of the mysterious Fiona, Calvin and his brother Parker find out they have special skills that they must learn to use in order to put an end to the curse. The people in Evie's life have always left her; from her mother to her best friend. The only person she can depend on is Calvin and she will do anything not to loose him. How will they break the curse and defeat evil? Who will have to pay the ultimate price?

I have to admit that I don't usually read paranormal books but this book was really good. The author does such an amazing job with the characters. Evie is such a good girl without being over the top. She has had so much loss in her life and desperately tries to hold on to the people in her life. Calvin is perfect. The perfect boyfriend. The perfect son and the perfect gentleman. He respects Evie's wishes and never ask more of her than she is willing to give. The romance is hot and steamy while still being clean. Where were boys like Calvin when I was in college? I want to thank the author Kimberly Krey for gifting this book to me for a honest and fair review and for being such a nice person. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to get lost in a romance book. Fun for all ages!

I was actually quite surprised at how Evie's knight turned out. When i first started reading it, it didn't really grab my attention much but it still made me feel like this book was more of a chick-lit type of book. As i already said, this book did not intrigue me at all when i started reading it. I just didn't understand it at all but as i read on, i really got into it.

The plot of this story was really intriguing. It actually got me quite scared! It was definitely not like your typical paranormal book at all. Instead, it's actually really creepy and you basically have to expect the unexpected int his one. I'm not really fond of reading ghost books which is why this one really got up my spine. So if you're looking for a really creep book to read, this is the one for you!

In this story, i felt like Calvin was more of the main character. Although it may seem like it's Evie as the main character, it's actually Calvin who takes most of the "spotlight" in this book. All the decisions in this book are actually made by Calvin. At first, i thought that Calvin would be the cold, cool and arrogant type of guy and that Evie will break his ice and etc. But with this book, Calvin starts off and ends with being the most cutest and cheesiest guy ever! Although i normally prefer the hard-to-get-close-to guys, i really did like reading through Calvin's mind. His love for Evie just makes me squeal!

Overall, this book was really good and i do really recommend it if you want a pretty creepy book but with really sweet romance!

This is a sweet, lovely and clean romance.

Is the story about Evie and Calvin, a young couple that meets in Art class. They fell in love. But there's something evil in the Knight's men. A course. Since the moment Calvin fell for Evie, this evil forces try to keep them away of each other. Now he must fight against everything to save their love. To save her. To have a future together.

I really liked this story. It's well paced, there were some funny moments that I really laughed out loud!
The characters... Everyone has a strong personality, you can relate them to your acquaintances, and feel even more close to the story.

There's someone in particular, I'd personally kicked his a** because of his behaviour at the beginning of the book. But I got surprised of how he developes to become someone worth of admire.

But Calvin... OMG! If you want to know a man.. A REAL MAN!! HOT, gorgeous, kind, funny, playful, one who's willing to do EVERYTHING for his love... GIRLS! YOU WILL ALL FALL DOWN FOR HIM!!

"Time spent with Calvin was addictive."

This is a perfect clean romance story, with some creepy moments when you will feel chills down over your spine! Amazing read for everone who enjoys a good plot, and who wants to get a crush from someone like Calvin! Or if you are a man, from Evie! :)

"Checkmate.” She bit at her curved lip as he scrutinized the board. “Sorry.” He nodded. “I knew you were dangerous"

I received a copy of Evie's Knight from a giveaway by the author. I love all kinds of romance and fantasy stories and this certainly fills the bill! Evie's is a quiet young woman with family issues and Calvin is the gorgeous rogue that Evie secretly yearns for. Calvin also has family issues but his are a bit more dangerous than Evie's problems. So dangerous that Evie's could end up dead!

I liked how Evie and Calvin had an instant connection and that they didn't rush into bed, but I wanted more honesty between them. I didn't feel a building of love and commitment from either of them. The danger of Calvin's family history, the training for the unnatural battle to come took control of the story and did not allow the romance to develop believably.

But all is not lost! The action scenes were well developed and full of tension. The story line is new and fresh. I would have liked more story with Jocelyn and less of the fighting before the final battle. Jocelyn was truly a mean girl!

Thanks Kimberly! Please keep writing!

Jocelyn has coveted the Knight men. She sacrificed herself to curse them and take away the women that they love. She will do what it takes to take her revenge on the man who spurned her.

Evie and Calvin have an art class together and begin to connect. Evie learns about the family curse from a painting that Calvin creates of the woman who set the evil upon his family. At first he doesn't believe in the curse, but the continuous nightmares lead him to realize that it is more than a family legend.

Calvin will do whatever it takes to save Evie. The curse has already been set the moment he fell in love with her, now he and his brother need to see it through to save her and their future together.

This book caught my imagination from the beginning. I loved the way that Evie and Calvin were portrayed. They are a very cute couple who have a bright future ahead of them. I loved that Calvin respects Evie's boundaries. He wants for her to remain virtuous.

This is a clean romance. The kissing does get a little intense, but that is as far as the intimacy goes.

Very interesting concept behind some of the storyline. Just different enough that I am extremely curious as to where the author is going to go with it. It is her debut novel.
I liked the relationship between Evie & Calvin. It was releastic for me & the kind of relationship that could last. They both had faults & were very human. They made mistakes. (I was annoyed with Evie at one point though. She sort of redeemed herself. I hate oh woest me moments. We all have probably felt that way before [I know I have]but it comes off so pathetic & whiny in novels) And huge props to the author for keeping it clean but still real! Very much like my own experiences. She did a great job of showing there affection for each but still showing how much respect they had for one another. As with most, more romantic novels, there were moments when I had to roll my eyes at the cheesiness of some of the 'romantic' lines, but it was expected because of the cover :) overall, a cute, creative storyline. Will read the sequel, very curious as to where she will go with it.
