One evil supervillain spends most of his time hatching nefarious plots to take over the world—but on his days off, nothing gets between him and the cute pandas he adores! This fresh, charming comedy series answers the age-old question of what a villain does off the clock!
It isn't easy plotting to take over the Earth! One high-ranking supervillain, also known as the General, finds himself stressed to the max on the daily, seeking solace in humble convenience store desserts. On his precious days off, he's free to think about nothing but pandas from sunrise to sunset. Only the cuteness of pandas can heal his wearied soul...and yet he must survive another week to get the sustenance that his heart craves!
"I had the perfect day off yet again thanks to pandas…"
Never expected to cry when reading this, but that last chapter was a gut punch of feels! 😭😭😭
Another wonderful volume though! I laughed SO much and was SHOCKED when we met a new ranger!!! 😱😱😱
I really like them though and excited to see how they will interact with our lead villain!
Speaking of, I love how he loves pandas so much! It's always a joy to read and see what fun ideas/thoughts he'll have next! Plus, him wanting to interact with cats also makes me happy, which is exactly what happened in one chapter! Hehe!
Excited to read more of this series, though I definitely wish the volumes were longer!
I'm going to regret reading this as soon as I got it, especially since the next one isn't out until May 😭
The general is... I'm obsessed, okay? I love that big, strange alien with a love of pandas and food.
Seeing the origins of the Rangers was really quite sad. Each of them has had an interaction with the general and found him to be very different to what they thought - especially since they caught him on his day off.
The Generals obsession with Pandas (and now cats?) can be seen a number of ways... but when you "see" Pandas who tell you to shower and brush your teeth...that's just disturbing.
The boy and the cherry blossom tree stories never fail to make my heart hurt.
We see more Mr. Villain doing non villain things and get more backstory on the rangers! Black funding pink, blue, green, and red. And we see how they’re a little found family.
'If I ever want to eradicate... ...then I'm going to need to have stronger willpower.'
Mr. Villain's Day Off continues to be so entertaining and funny, I love it! This time around, there are 12 chapters AKA a couple less than before. They remain on the shorter side as well as ridiculous and adorable, which is why I kinda wish they'd have been longer even if just for all the panda content. Oh and we finally get a backstory of the Rangers (the Green ranger ahh 🥹🥹) and I'm even more invested now eeee.
The first chapter, Uncanny Resemblance, where the General is annoyed by the realization that the male panda resembles his colleague, Trigger, (thinking about work on his day is already a big no) is nothing short of hilarious. Never change, LOL.
It's also fun to see the General interact with animals apart from the pandas and this time around, we see the General attempt to pet a cat who lives near his convenience store. Of course he'd think it's an honor to have a cat let him pet it.
The ramen chapter and when the characters on the cup talked him into having them as a midnight snack was very relatable haha. I love how the General is always discovering new foods and having the most random reactions.
As for the Rangers, it's fun to see a new Ranger in every new volume. I'm very 👀 about the dynamic between Blue and Pink, though (and why Blue is always having stomach aches). They clearly have some beef with each other, hee. The twins remain the most adorable and Red is obvs the best like not him dreaming about not being lost ever again while napping. He's even stressed out in his sleep LOOL. (Meanwhile, the General dreaming of pandas without black patches around their eyes, heh).
The art is so cute! I love each and every illustration of pandas. Plus, the art style really suits the manga overall so no complaints there.
Okay, but this was so cute!! I love that this is just Mr. Villain chilling on his days off, hanging out and enjoying all the cute panda things he can get his hands on. I love that he’s always down to get a snack or chat with the friends he’s made on his days off and on occasion be somewhat helpful to the rangers. Another thing that I really liked was that we got to see more of Mr. Villain bonding with his co-workers in little ways. And we can’t forget the peek at the rangers backstory! It was really nice to see how they came together, and I liked that we got so much more info about them. Volume 3 is getting four out of five stars!
So cute! I loved finding more out about the Rangers, Black's backstory seems pretty sad though, but I love the found family thing they all have. Red's awful sense of direction is always comedic. The green twins are sweet. Blue and Pink's bickering also is funny. Mr. Villain is as adorable as ever, his love of pandas has never wavered, and his weakness to anything cute and cuddly is still strong. I also really enjoyed seeing the tree children again, I hope they get to meet again soon as the story progresses. The art style of this manga is so beautiful, every character is so pretty (especially Mr. Villain). I can't wait to read more!
This has fast become my go-to feel good series. Mr. Villain with his pandas and other cute things, and the rangers with their found family. The two teams didn’t interact in this one, and most stories were very short, but it still left me happy.
I liked that this volume got into more detail who the Rangers are. The twins are pretty fascinating with their energies merging to become one. I love the fun stories of what Mr. Villain is doing or what side characters are up to, but sometimes it can feel a bit all over the place. Providing the background into the Rangers gave a stable story for a bit. It was nice having that.
Series: Mr. Villain's Day Off #3 Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
This was another fun bunch of comics featuring the General having some relaxing days off and visiting the pandas. I also like that we are starting to get some backstory on the Rangers and how they came together.
I thought i might get tired of the episodic nature of this series, but i totally haven't. It's building on itself and growing the characters really nicely.
Kind of a mixed bag this time, there's cute moments, but the holiday stuff and Mr Villain being by himself felt kind of like filler. It's best when he's interacting with others
Black is introduced, also we get some surprisingly interesting lore about how the rangers in this story work. A team with a green and a black and no yellow? What is this?!
Hoping Mr. Villain experiences more cool human things next issue
