Ikuto has disappeared, and it’s up to Amu and her fellow Guardians to save him. But what about Tadase’s mysterious past with Ikuto? And what does that mean for Amu and Tadase’s relationship? Plus, Rima learns the truth about Nagihiko’s double life!
This volume of Shugo Chara! includes special extras after the story!
Peach-Pit (ピーチ・ピット Pīchi Pitto) is a female manga artist duo in Japan, made up of Banri Sendo (千道 万里 Sendō Banri) and Shibuko Ebara (えばら 渋子 Ebara Shibuko). Their group name derives from the diner hangout Peach-Pit from the TV show Beverly Hills, 90210. Although both have similar styles, with some artwork it is possible to identify which artist drew it. Both are known for their bishōjo styled works. As noted in their books, they are both Geminis and have "Almost flushed our phones down the toilet...twice."
The two of them grew up together and went to the same elementary school and have been best friends ever since. Both started as doujinshi manga artists, but not as Peach-Pit. Then they were scouted by Dengeki Comic Gao!. In 2008, one of their manga, Shugo Chara!, was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for best children's manga. Shugo Chara was also turned later into an Anime television series.
So much sadness in this volume, but the some wonderful things happened, like...... and, that Nagihiko's Guardian Characters finally came out of their eggs, giving us our first glimpse of Rizumu and the Beat Jumper character transformation.
Re-read 2022: YASSSS! Loved this volume! So good! Love seeing Nadeshiko/Nagihiko's guardian eggs coming out, there is a big battle, loved the fortune teller woman, and there is tons of more! We are really getting to the ending of the manga and while I am sad I also cannot wait for the biggest battle and the embryo!

Re-read 2017: Oh my, so much is happening in this one, we are truly going for the last spurt. Just a bit longer to go. This book was chock-full of excitement, twists and turns, but also a bit of a background story on how Tadase, Ikuto, and Utau used to live together/or at least were really close. I felt so sorry for all 3 of them, especially Ikuto and Utau. Thankfully they also had someone who did care about them, the grandmother.
Poor Ikuto, totally manipulated by Easter, he is trying to fight, but he can’t win this. He needs help. He needs Amu and her friends to save him from this cursed fate. But I feel that it won’t be so easy. I feel that it won’t be done in just one blast.
Nagihiko’s egg also comes out, and we also get a bit of background on him which fits with the eggs he is battling. I loved his new egg, but I was also happy that Temari awoke again as well. She is so sweet and pretty.
The Queens’ Waltz was pretty, and I am glad those two are now friends!
On to the next volume! I want to see how this series ends (it has faded enough that I don’t know exactly what will happen, yay!).
"Yelling is not the only way to discipline. You need to teach them as well."
Four stars for the story and an extra one for the grandma.
Perfect comparison of authoritarian/neglectful parenting versus authoritative. People make mistakes and the grandma understood the assignment of teaching children how to take accountability for themselves rather than just yelling at them. Imagine treating children like people and then proceeding to guide them using logic and reason rather than fear... huh.
Most of this volume is on the slow side due to a lot of character development and flashbacks, but it's all necessary for the plot and is thoroughly enjoyable to see these characters talk and make plans. It all leads up to an exciting end of the volume (and a cliffhanger), which promises to continue to be thrilling in the next volume.
So many feelings for this book!! The characters are all growing up and the theme of believing in yourself, believing in others is just heart!! Ikuto~~~!!! And Nagihiko transforming into both his guardians and just everything about this volume was wonderful.
Another fantastic read. The lore of the series has gotten deeper and deeper--especially with family relations. I just hate the cliffhanger right at the end.
20th book review) I finally read the 8th volume of this series. There were two main events in the book. One of them was describing Ikuto's, Utau's, and Tadase's past. The other event was trying to save Ikuto from Easter's (a company) grip.
It was amazing learning about Ikuto's, Utau's, and Tadase's past. You wouldn't really think they were as close as they described it. Back then though, they all seemed to be as close a good siblings. You wouldn't think that Tadase liked Ikuto as an older brother if you seen him when he was in 4th grade to 6th grade.
Since Ikuto is held by Easter, Amu and her friends go to one of Easter's companies to try to save him. They found out that he was at the top of the building to they head out up there. That's actually when the volume ends...
Another thing that happened was that Rima, the new Queen's chair, found out that Nagihiko was the former Queen.
That was basically it for this volume. It was still as good as the other volumes. I can't wait until I read the next volume.

One of the weaker Shugo Chara volumes, as the majority of the volume focused on either flashbacks or expositions. Humor was also sorely missing, as I feel that comedy and art are the series strong points. As opposed to story since it's generally just about "You can find your true self and dream within yourself, ...as long as you believe!," which can feel a bit repetitive. Instead, everything was serious as things are ratcheting up for the final battle against Easter. It's still hard to believe all these characters are still in elementary school. ^_^
Amu was a great character, she was a little whiny at times but overall she was able to fight and stand up for what she believed in. I liked her relationship with everyone else.
The guardians added some comedic humor to the series and you can't go wrong with a little battle magic.
God, missunderstanding get all twisted in this book. It's a no brainer that Tadase hates Ikuto. I just wonder why Ikuto never stood up for himself and said sorry. Seriously! It's ridiculous how everyone thinks he's the bad guy.
Wow, really enjoyed this volume and am enjoying this manga series! : ) so good, love the storyline and characters and it follows the anime actually very closely too : ) love it, can't wait to start volume 9! : ) definitely recommend this series! : )
