SUMMARY (50 words or less)

This was a novelette. Someone recommended this to me. I tend not to read blurbs but in this case, that did bode well for my reading. There is a lot of potential and I hope that the author takes this story and expands before moving to a next book.

Full Review

Generally, I don’t like to read or remember blurbs that I’ve read before reading a story. Some blurbs just give too much away and leave nothing for the reader to discover on their own. In this case, that worked against this book for me. Had I read that or looked at a few reviews I might have known the why this story was written.
I think this story was part of a writing contest or something like that. Therefore there may have been constraints on length or something of that nature. Still, I have a major problem with this story that hurt my enjoyment. World building.

To explain, I have to give spoilers. So open the spoiler at your own choice.

Overall, I think there was a lot of good in this story and it is worth a read. I hope this series gets expanded and I would be interested in reading more.

Definitely a one-star had this not been free. This read like the first draft of stuff I wrote when I was in high school and thought I had what it took to be the next Francine Pascal, except with more butt sex. This one, I mean, not the Sweet Valley High-esque drivel I still have stuffed at the back of my closet.

This was the most nauseating combination of insta-love and pet names and telling rather than showing, all packed with shallow MCs that have no personality beyond one of them being all growly ala all other shifter caricatures in romance and the other a perfect chick with a dick that kept on repeating how the other guy looked like a Greek god ad nauseam. The blurb talks of issues like one MC being in the closet and worried about revealing his true nature to his mate and all that, but lemme tell you - the blurb has more angst in it. The book breezed through the conflicts - blink and you'd miss them.

Which is also my advice re: this book. Miss it. There are better ways to waste your time.

This was a free read - thank the gods above, because if I had paid for this drivel, I would have been really pissed. The average fanfic is better than this über-cliche stuffed with purple prose. Don't get me wrong, I love happy endings and mush as much as the next girl but this? His sweet mate? Angel? Little man? Sweet male? Greek god? And my favorite - God-man? Is there a dictionary of the most ridiculous purple prose nicknames that the author decided to tap? Seriously, there's nothing wrong with using the character's name! Also, the idea that two people are not lovers till there's a penetration is entirely ridiculous!

Conclusion? AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

I found this book when I was hunting through the freebies for a new read. I love shifter stories and this one had the added twist of the human having temporary amnesia leading to the tension of not knowing when the memory would return. For a shorter story, it was very satisfying.

Xander is a wolf shifter and the beta wolf in his pack. He has resisted all the broad hints about mating with any of the eligible females in his pack because he has kept secret his real inclinations. Same-sex relations are unheard of. He's doing fine with his secret until his wolf self is almost hit by a car and the human occupant of the vehicle is injured and needs his rescue.

Xan knows immediately that the human male who is hurt badly is his fated mate. His mate has no memories of who he is. Xan feels the pull of attraction even while he pulls away from that attraction. His mate is male, human and has none of his memories and probably has a fulfilling life from whereever he comes from which means that Ro, as the human styles himself, is a threat to both Xan's secret and his heart.

Before the accident, Jessie is headed out to join his friend as break from his empty life that is going nowhere. His friend is a wilderness guide and game hunter so he sets off into the mountains to join him. He swerves to avoid a beautiful wolf in the road which leads him to get injured. Jessie wakes up with none of his memories in the home and protection of the attractive Xander. Xan seems to blow hot and cold with Jessie. The two men soon become close, but Xan will not act on the passion they share and even turns away from Jessie particularly when they are in public.

Will Xan be able to overcome his fear of what everyone will think and his fear that his human will leave him when Jessie regains his memories? Will he want a life with Xander when he learns that he is a shifter?

Again, it was a nice sweet satisfying short story that I recommend to those who enjoy m/m shifter romance.

Yum! A hot sexy werewolf claiming his mate - perfect! I enjoyed Jessie standing up to Xander in the bar too! He obviously had the strength to be an equal partner to his werewolf mate and made that perfectly clear! Thanks Taylor.

I had occasion to meet Taylor Law at GRL 2013 in Atlanta. This is the expansion of the story that came from my prompt for the M/M Romance Group's 2011 writing event, Hot Summer Days.

I was so honored to have my prompt selected and very pleased with the story that Ms. Law gave to the group. It was really great. After two years and two more events, I was understandably confused about some of the details of the story. I took that as an opportunity to re-read the story, especially given that that it was expanded from about 26 pages to about 49 pages (and still offered as a free read through Amazon).

I remember enjoying the story in 2011 and definitely enjoyed the story this time around.

Jesse/Ro was a strong character, but I really love Xan. I love how he defends his mate. Love that growl-y possessiveness. Always have.

The only thing that confused me was that Xan blurted out that the man was his mate but later worried over outing himself even though he'd stated that a man was his mate. Still, I really liked the story and am most impressed with the first-time-published author's talent.

Thank you Ms. Law; I look forward to more from this series and from you! It was wonderful to meet you. :-)

I have to confess….I have always wanted a hot, gorgeous guy with no memory to just drop in my life and lap. But….nothing yet! So I turn to stories like Wrong Turn to spark my imagination and keep my fantasies alive. :D

I had fun in theses pages. Xan was one growling, gorgeous, god of alpha tension, chemistry, and sex.

For a quick, hot, and FREE read with wolf shifter fun--look no further!

I love that instantaneous mate recognition and desire to claim! I'm glad that Xan didn't put up too much of a fight against the inevitable, and glad that Jesse was strong enought to fight for what was right. I love a hot, sexy shifter story and you certainly delivered, Taylor! Awesome - thank you!!!

This was a really sweet and short story, you know, "grrr mate!" And sometimes you are in the mood for that. I look forward to see how this author's writing matures in future stories.

I love m/m shifter stories but I just couldn't get into this one. I didn't like the way it was written. If I had to describe the way this was written, I'd say immaturely. *shrugs*

A sweet m/m romance about a man who makes a wrong turn, losing more than just his way, only to find himself in the arms of a lonely, reticent werewolf whom realizes he’s just found his mate. Some of the werewolf’s pack are more than ready to give him a hard time about having a man as his mate, but the people who truly matter are more than willing to support his. All he and his lover have to do is get past their insecurities and communicate their passion to each other, how much they need each. Sometimes they do this in a purely physical way which speaks far louder than words.

The elements of a specific supernatural subculture blended seamlessless with very human emotional issues of uncertainty, awkwardness in the face of vulnerability, a fear of feeling too much, of being hurt again mingling with raw passion. At times I wanted to slap the characters, more often I wanted to hug them, yet they never failed to engage my sympathy. The story ended on a sweetly satisfying note that’ll make readers let out a happy sigh. If any of this appeals to you, check this out.

Nice enough story but it felt like it was focused too much on sex, although this is not page after page of sex. Great characters, good premise just too short.

**Update** Whoops! I read and reviewed the short from the DRiTC, it looks like it was expanded or what I have was meant to be just a taste of the series? Regardless, there is a book out there that's longer, I'll be reading it and Wrong Way book #2 in this series. Really looking forward to it.

**Another Update 04/26/2024 this one for the extended version
I've also changed my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars**

I enjoyed the extended version so much more and it's not necessary to read the short story everything in it, is in the extended version. In this one it didn't feel like the focus was on sex and I got the story I was looking for. Love the MCs and the secondary characters and hope to see some of them get their own stories.

● Paranormal
● Part of DRiTC Vol 4
● There's also an extended version (read both)
● Wolf shifter/human pairing
● An accident
● Amnesia
● Forced proximity
● Fated mates
● Ended too soon (short version)
● Satisfying ending
● Can't wait to read more of this series

This is a good read as a romance book..... not sure about the information in it about the Shenandoah Pack (pretty non-existent) but a great read

This is the 1st book in the Shenandoah Pack series.... We meet Jessie who after a lot of things going wrong for him in the last year decides to visit a friend and take a holiday....... On his way there however he almost hits a white wolf which is standing in the middle of the road..... Things go wrong and he is rescued by a pack of wolf shifters....... when he wakes up meets a beautiful 'man' named Xander who is actually a wolf shifter. Xander tries to find out things about Jessie but Jessie can't answer him because he has amnesia..... and the story goes.......

A well written book I highly recommend

ENJOY :D

I can honestly say that I have a budding interest now in "Shifter" stories. I had never really read any before, but this one caught my interest. I was impressed with the premise of Jesse being caught in an accident and saved by one particular "wolf"; a white wolf with "icy blue eyes" who "shifted" into a man to carry him to safety. I had thought that once Jesse had woken up that he would be completely freaked out, but he had amnesia! It became more like a Beauty and the Beast story line, at least to me. I thought that it ended on a positive note. The thing that makes these stories pretty hot for me (once again, just started!) is the whole "claiming" idea. How is that so different from what happens between two homo sapiens? That's what changed my mind!

Taylor Law's "Wrong Turn" is the story of a Jessie Rohan who nearly collides with a wolf on a trip home & ends up suffering amnesia. The wolf though is a shifter named Xander Dane (or Xan) who rescues Jessie & realizes that the person he's found is in fact his life mate. The story itself follows Jessie's recovery as he gets closer back to health & Xan's attempts at realizing that he really is gay something wolves aren't supposed to be. For a short work of fiction, the book actually has a lot of emotional charge to it from rejection to admission to passion & covers a broad spectrum of things. A very well done short work of fiction in the paranormal genre of things.

Jessie is going on vacation for a week and meeting up with an old friend in the wilderness, but has an accident en route and of course he gets amnesia. Amnesia-Jessie is called Ro. Xander and wolf shape-shifters in this short story of 28 pages and free on All Romance Ebook site.
Xander doesn't take advantage of 'Ro' for a week until he has healed from the car accident and mud slide catastrophe. In fact it is Ro with all the experience and seduces Xander who is deep in the closet with his pack and family.
Cute M/M fantasy romance.

X. I was very hesitant to read a romance Novella about shifters. I have kept my m/m romance and supernatural books separate. I was put off by the shifter focus. However, one of the best decisions I made was downloading this book. Ms. Law has some grammatical work to do but was swept off my bed by the chemistry. Maybe I'm crazy, but I loved it. Cannot wait for the next book. If you are reading these comments trying to decide if this book is worth your time, trust me read it!

What can I say this book was way too short and I felt like it was missing something. I love all things about werewolves and love the idea of wolves claiming their mates. I thought it started out really well but it got a little sappy for me and there was a little too much identity crisis for me. I would have preferred something a little more animalistic. That being said it was very well written and it was good to read I just wish it was longer.

Short & sweet a nice read in one sitting. Male to Male shifter short story that was a fun sweet read. I'm looking forward to #2. There wasn't alot of character development but what do you expect in a short story? The attraction was instantaneous because they are mates which helped the storyline some. Really enjoyable. Not real deep, which was great for a relaxing late nite read.
