An inept sheriff who can’t shoot, ride or spit worth a damn... Facing the bankruptcy of the family business, J. Barrett Callan accepts his great-great grandfather’s offer to exchange places in time in hopes he can change his future by fixing the past. But if anything, his troubles compound when he ends up in the mining town of Margin, Colorado as an inept sheriff who can’t shoot, ride or spit worth a damn.
There he encounters a “spinster” who serves as the local schoolmarm because the townspeople would never accept her as the doctor she’s trained to be. Will they be able to find a love while working together to keep Margin safe from rampaging miners, crooked investors and a boozy visitor from the future far beyond the 21st century?
Nice little time travel about a young man on the verge of bankruptcy, who trades places with his great grandfather in 1880's American West, to see if he can change events. DNF. Read 30 percent of this ebook, but find that in my 60's, I'm looking for novels with more bite to them, and less fluff. Not the authors fault, just a change in reading tastes as I age.
Barrett Callan switches places with his great great grandfather Johnny Callaghan. Barrett's mission is to right an old wrong which has ruined him in his own time. He doesn't expect to fall in love with no way to bring his beloved back with him nor is this wrong resolved in the way either Johnny or Barrett thinks. This is a fast paced book. It absorbed my attention the entire read. Recommended!
This book was great fun to read. Very clever and amusing plot. Old west, romance, and science fiction perfectly blended. This book will grow on you and putting it down is not an option as you approach the end.
To my future self reading this book. You bought this book because it was free, it had good reviews on Amazon, and it’s the first time travel book you’ve seen that the guy goes back in time.
A sweet time travel romance that was not over the top or boring. I found the characters to be charming and a throwback to the old west. I enjoyed this read.
I really enjoyed this book. Time travel fascinates me. Laura weaves a great story. Not just one time traveler but 3. Add a sleazy banker out to rob the the people of their land and Emma &Barret have to save them. Love blossoms but how is that to work when one a time traveler? A surprise ending
I like the idea of time travel so I like reading time travel stories. I've imagined myself traveling in time in situations a bit similar to this story. To change something in my life or someone else's. I enjoyed Miss Hayden's spin on it.
As much as I enjoyed the story, want to point out a mistake. At one point, he says that he's from the 1995, but throughout the rest of the story he's from 2015.
Surprised I finished the book. I enjoy a good time travel book, this was not it. This was poorly interpreted. Huge inconsistency in how this happened, from a mirror to a gunshot wound, to shaking hands and touching in the street a serious lack of consistency. Besides this there is a love story which is blossoming.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. In discribing it to my husband, he thought he would like to read it also even if he has to figure out the Kindle reader! This is a humorous, well paced, romantic story. If it wasn't so far fetched it would feel believable. Who knows, time will tell. 😁
Barrett is in trouble. His company is in trouble. He’s going to jail. Suddenly his mirror starts talking to him. Something about changing history will change his future. That’s how he ends up being a sheriff in the small town of Margin in place of his great great grandfather. That’s where he met Emma. It’s a fun book with a lot of twists and is a delightful read.
Found some of the details in early chapters less than clear, but stopped reading when she found the ring. Engraved with 2005, but he graduated in 1985 and he said he was from 1995. Who engraved their class ring with a date other than their grad year?

This is one of the few novels I have read where a guy has traveled through time. I really enjoyed the unique storyline and the the creative ending. This was a neat way to enjoy a story set in the old west.
This is a time-travel romance but more of a switched in time story. The story was pretty well done but I just couldn’t understand how the time travel worked. It was never explained well. The story was good and everything but I probably won’t read the next one.
Laura Hayden did a good job with this book. Entertaining and funny. Easy read. Will definitely read her other book. Why 4 stars? I dont like Wild West books but this one was ok.
This was a fun twist on time travel stories. The hero found the right gal in the right century. They saved the past and the future. And do t forget to buy IBM.
A different twist for a time travel tale. Swap places with a great great grandfather to see if he can change the history to better his present time situation.
into a realistically portrayed Old West with two sweet romances, interesting characters, a strong heroine and deft use by the hero of his boardroom skills.
A few pages in I didn't think that I was interested in the way the story was being set up, but I stuck with it anyway. It turned out to be a fun, fluffy read.
Facing the bankruptcy of his company and prison time through no true fault of his own, the hero is astonished to be visited by hid great great grandfather via the bathroom mirror. The old man offers him a change to right all the wrongs of the present time by traveling back to 1890 to stop a man from buying up the mines which in turn leads to the destruction of the hero's company in the future. The hero accepts the mission and is instantly sent back in time and into his great great grandfathers’ body. There, he meets a fellow time traveler, the inn owner who makes him horribly uncomfortable with her aggressive seduction attempts and the beautiful school teacher who becomes his partner in stopping the villain from stealing the land from the townsfolk. But all that becomes put on hold when he's shot one night but a drunk man and needs the heroine- a student of medicine under her deceased father-to save his life.
Nursing him back to health she is confused but elated when the normally stoic and distant sheriff whom she's cursed on for years suddenly gives her the time of day. He believes in her abilities as a doctor and seemed to be attracted to her. He takes her into confidence regarding his time traveling after she finds proof of him being from the future and together they go about saving the town and preventing the hero's disastrous future.
Though I sort of enjoyed this book in parts, by the end I concluded that this book was a complete waste of time. Never once was I ever excited for what would come next and the whole book was painted in beige monotones. There was zero passion between the characters and if not for a thin layer of humor laced through it, I felt both characters were lifeless and dull. The story was stupid, the plot was completely pointless and the font was sized big enough that my elderly grandmother could read it. Overall, it was a disappointment and waste of money... Good thing I got it for free. Lol.
Quite by accident, or perhaps a temporal quirj,I advanced this book to read AND rated it. However, factor I would pass through my library I got a distinct feeling I had not read it. To finally going through my time waro,Ifinishedit
