I've been interested in learning more about Frida Kahlo for years now and have been hoping to stumble upon the perfect nonfiction audiobook about her. This graphic novel caught my attention, not just because of its subject matter, but also because of its beautiful art style. It's a fast read (only about 60 pages) and well-organized, providing a snapshot into Kahlo's life with background information laced carefully throughout its brief narrative. I still want to know more about Kahlo and hope to find a larger book about her someday, but this title provides a solid introduction to her biography. Plus, it provides a window not just into Kahlo's work but also into the work of the writers/illustrators, Terry Blas and Ashanti Fortson, whose other stories I will definitely be keeping an eye out for!
