There were three short stories in this trade paperback. They were not printed in the order on the synopsis, but here, they are:
1. Hidden Enemies by Ravyn Wilde
I thoroughly enjoyed this tale. Jenna Jessup was on the run from an abusive ex-husband when she met hunky Cole Matheson at a motel bar. The chemistry was there, and they went with it only to learn that Cole was an expert in hiding, counter-terrorism, military espionage, etc. Does Jenna ask Cole for his help? That would be telling.... What happened was so good, reminded me of a Lisa Marie Rice book. Could have been longer! Great characters! Hint of psychic abilities.
4 1/2 Stars
2. Meltdown Denise A. Agnew
I could not get in to this story. Earthquakes, psychic abilities, fireman. Typical hurt woman, rescued by hunky fireman. The psychic element in this one was silly.
Unfinished
3. Make that Man Mine by Shelley Munro
Werewolves. Tried to get in to this story, but it just didn't move along fast enough. Same stuff, different words. Werewolves. Blech.
Good read, although with a 'paranormal' anthology and a name like 'Men to Die For' I expected at least one vampire. No vamps, although we do have one psychic hero, one heroine who gets headaches just before earthquakes and a hero who turns into a taniwha [Maori legend - sort of a sea serpent/dragon:]. I loved Hidden Enemies by Ravyn Wilde - great hero. Had a few issues with Meltdown by Denise Agnew, there were some pretty major storylines left dangling - only the personal storylines [his, hers and theirs:] are resolved. I enjoyed Shelley Munro's Make That Man Mine - not great plausibility in the plot but the interaction is good. The hero [who has been angsting about the fact he is a shifter and heroine will be terrified and hate him etc etc etc:] is stunned when her main reaction to it is telling him that he stinks...
Not really paranormal, except the third and last story in the anthology with the Taniwah... The hero in the first is psychic, for what that's worth, and in the second the heroine can feel earthquakes coming. Nothing earth shattering, despite the earthquakes in Meltdown. Lets itself be read.
