Rate this book
Hey, Guys! Want to trade your fat for muscle? It's finally possible, thanks to the Men's Health TNT Diet. TNT - or Targeted Nutrition Tactics - is a scientifically designed program that can be customized for any body, including yours. It's as easy as knowing what to eat, and when to eat it. So whether you have a lot of fat to lose or just a little, TNT has a plan to fit your goals. In fact, TNT works not only for the guy who wants to lose 50 pounds of flab but also for the guy who wants to trade 10 pounds of fat for 10 pounds of muscle. Just as important, the TNT diet significantly reduces the risk for heart disease and diabetes, a finding that's been scientifically proven in studies at the University of Connecticut. The results of these studies, which you'll read about inside, are amazing. The best part? The TNT Diet and accompanying exercise plan couldn't be simpler. In fact, throughout the book, you'll find out why you
- Stop counting calories. The TNT Diet reprograms your appetite, allowing your own body to regulate the amount you eat. So you'll never feel like you're on a diet, even though you'll look like it.
- Go back to enjoying the foods you love-like prime rib, omelets, and even butter. Through a revealing report, you'll see why fat - even saturated fat - isn't the dietary demon it's been made out to be.
- Exercise just 90 minutes a week . Instead of exercising in the so-called fat-burning zone, you'll learn how to exercise in the carb-burning zone . This is the secret to making your workouts both shorter and more effective. So what's stopping you? The Men's Health TNT Diet provides all the tools you need to dramatically transform your body - both inside and out.

As someone that spent a great part of the last 15 years bodybuilding and working on/studying physical development and nutrition (it may not be evident by looking at me, I've been lazy these last few years...), I've been skeptical of the low-carb diets and fads that have come and gone with time.

I bought this book last summer to check out and really found that the information, and the way it was presented, made sense. It seemed ideal to me, a guy that spends 12 hours a day away from home, with hardly any time to call my own.

Since I've always been willing to experiment with myself, I decided to give it a try. Following the eating recommendations and workout plan for 3 months, I made enough of a transformation that people noticed.

I always consumed 40-50% carbs and 35-40% protein, but when I tried to cut I would have trouble. Maybe that's why. But on the TNT Diet things were a bit simpler.

However... this has to be a life change. Once I started slipping and allowing carbs back into my diet, I put 15 pounds right back on.

The book itself is an easy read and half of it is actually the workout plan and recipes. Very motivating, to say the least.

Seems like a reasonable diet and strength-training plan.

This book isn't extremely detail-oriented. And it sometimes throws in some information that is either unnecessary, for the purposes of the book, or just misplaced.

Typical for American-authored fitness/health books, the author(s) write with exaggerated and sometimes absolutist language (i.e. "this plan is the best and here's why," or "there's no better plan with as much science behind it as ours," - note: these are paraphrases not exact quotes). And for me, that's always a turn-off. But maybe I'm not the average American reader... Idk.

Still, it's a good book, and provides a helpful plan.

another low-carb fad book that argues that saturated fat is not only not harmful for health but is actually healthy. Littered with misinformation and outright lies (anyone who slanders Ancel Keys and his 7 country study is scientifically illiterate).

My review on this book is simply that some of the information I follow as a near absolute… while some of it as advice.. I would take it very lightly

I really like that the book has a nutrition plan (some recipes included) and a workout plan with it. The sad part is that I have yet to implement the program. As it wants you to start the workouts on Monday or Tuesday, I will have to wait until after the weekend to get it going. I'll come back with details of its effectiveness.
5/5/08 I am starting my 3rd week of the workout portion today and let me say that the workout is kicking my butt. Every workout starts out with the "Dynamic Warm-Up" and let me say that the warm-up will have you sweating and huffing if you do as it says. The warm-up and workout can be completed in less than 1 hour, and you only have to commit 3 days. You can add in intervals for cardio after the workout or on off days. Give it a whirl and kick your own butt.

Diet useful, workout is great!

I love the workouts, and have been using their format to create my own for years. I don't use the diet now but have in the past. Its effective for shedding weight but I could never maintain energy levels on it. I found using The Warrior Diet with the workout program in TNT is a great combination.

My mom found this in her old books. Quick light read, I won't be eating a lettuce wrapped burger anytime soon, but it does make a good case against eating the amount of carbs I currently do.
