The second edition of From Instruction to Delight is a thorough update of Patricia Demers' essential anthology of key works of children's literature from 1000 to 1850. It includes approximately 70 examples of children's literature, ranging from complete and excerpted short stories, verse, and lessons for children, along with critical introductions, headnotes, and original black and white woodcuts.
Read for school. It was an interesting read for sure, it is cool to see how children's literature came to be. Gender roles in the 1800's is such a cool subject and I need to do more with it
An excellent academic source, but is far from being a pleasure read. Those looking to read this had better be well versed in early English and accept that they won't understand everything.
