Finalist for the Lefty Award for Best Humorous Mystery
Swift Run , Laura DiSilverio's third novel in this entertaining and original series, is a thrilling and hilarious romp. Readers will enjoy spending time with this engaging crime-fighting duo.
With Charlie convalescing from a gunshot wound, Gigi is temporarily running Swift Investigations when Heather-Anne Pawlusik, the tramp who ran off with Gigi's husband, Les, saunters into the office. Heather-Anne wants to hire the firm to find Les, missing from their love nest in Costa Rica. Gigi tells her to am-scray, but the lure of a paying client is too much, and Les is the father of her children, so she accepts the case, against Charlie's advice.
Attuned to her embezzling ex's habits, Gigi tracks down Les but he quickly loses her. When a body turns up, the cops start measuring Gigi for a prison jumpsuit, so she and Charlie frantically hunt for Les and dig into Heather-Anne's mysterious past because orange isn't Gigi's color. What Gigi discovers, not only about Les, but about herself and her feelings for him, surprises her as much as the killer's identity.
I'm the author of the Swift Investigations, Mall Cop and Readaholics mystery series.
After twenty years as an Air Force intelligence officer – serving as a squadron commander, with the National Reconnaissance Office, and at a fighter wing – I retired to parenting and writing full-time.
With Charlie out recovering from their last case, running Swift Investigations has fallen to her partner, Gigi. And Gigi is very reluctant to take on their new client when the last person she wants to see walks through the door – Heather-Anne, the woman that Gigi’s ex-husband Les ran away with over a year ago. Now Heather-Anne is back in town and wants to hire Swift Investigations to track down Les, who she also claims is back in Colorado Springs. Can Gigi and Charlie find him?
Sadly, this appears to be the final book in this series. Fortunately, it is another fabulous book. Once again, we are treated to a great mystery with plenty of twists and turns. And we get lots of laughs from the situations that Charlie and Gigi find themselves in. Since this is more Gigi’s story than Charlie’s, she takes over first-person narration duties, but Charlie still gets plenty of time in the spotlight thanks to chapters from her third-person point of view. We also get some good character growth, especially for Gigi, something she has needed. While a couple of threads aren’t wrapped up, I was satisfied with how the series ended. If you are looking for a light mystery, check out these books.
After flying through the first two Swift mysteries I couldn't wait to start the third. Unfortunately, I was in for a massive disappointment and had to force myself to even finish Swift Run. This book is narrated by Gigi, who I can't stand. It's clear DiSilverio is pulling from Janet Evanovich's Lula character. While Lula can be frustrating and annoying, she more than makes up for it in myriad other ways. Gigi, on the other hand, has no redeeming qualities. She's clueless, stupid, and her children are beyond awful. I initially thought that reading from her point of view might offer some more insight to her character and make her more sympathetic, but the opposite was true. Gigi is about as deep as a puddle, and it's a shame that this is how the series ends. (It does appear to be finished, with no new book on the horizon.)
Gigi, Charlie Swift's partner at Swift Investigations, can't help herself....she can't be mean to her ex husband Les....even when he brings trouble back into her life. Heather-Anne, Les' wife comes to the PI office to hire Gigi to find Les. Heather-Anne, the one Les took off with and destroyed Gigi's marriage, wants Gig's help? This causes all kinds of turmoil especially in Gigi. Gigi's son Dexter gets caught up in the drama landing himself in police custody. Trying to exonerate Dexter and not trusting Heather-Anne or Les, Charlie investigates finding a buried past that adds to the confusion.
Really liked the first one, the second one was okay but this was dragged on a bit. Didn’t like reading from Gigis point of view and was really hoping for more about the romantic relationships with Charlie.
#3 in the Charlotte “Charlie” Swift series. Finalist 2013 Lefty Award. Charlie is still recuperating from a gunshot wound in the butt. While this gives rise to 'pain in the ass' humor, Charlie's limited mobility puts Gigi, the weaker half of the detecting duo, on center stage. Some truly comic bits but too much of Gigi's self-absorbed kids and her questionable fashion statements. Although Gigi did have some laudable personal growth, I hope Charlie reappears as at least an equal partner in the next series entry.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
The third in the Charlie Swift series. This was another fun read. I havent read the first two books in a while, but this one seemed to be told more from Gigi's point of view than the first two. The novel switched between first person Gigi and third person Charlie perspectives. Swift Investigations is hired to find Gigi's ex-husband Les. And the person doing the hiring is none other than the woman Les left Gigi for, Heather-Anne.
There were parts of this book that had me laugh out loud. I love the partnership of Charlie and Gigi and how it is evolving over the course of the series. This was another fun mystery and I look forward to reading the next in the series.
The woman who ran off to Costa Rica with Gigi's husband Les is now standing in the office where Gigi works, hiring her to find him. That's only the first stunner, as aspiring private investigator Gigi and her friend and boss Charlie, who is still recuperating from a gunshot wound (more embarrassing than dangerous) try to find Les, who has a lot of unhappy investors he cheated looking for him, too. When clueless Gigi finds a body, she becomes a person of interest to the police, and so does one of her obnoxious teenagers. This is a fairly good mystery, but although Gigi is good-hearted, she's really annoying, too.
Humorous p.i. series featuring no-nonsense Charlie Swift and her associate, Gigi Goodman. Gigi is a partner in the firm by default - it's one of the few investments her embezzling ex-husband left untouched when he left her. In this, the third book in the series, Gigi is approached by the "other woman" her husband left with to find said ex, who appears to be missing. When the "other woman" is found murdered, Gigi needs to find her ex, and figure out who the murderer is - and fast. Fun, and a good story.
Decent cozy featuring 2 lady PIs. One is supposed to be taking it easy due to injury, ha! The other accepts a case that causes many problems because she is, um, a little to invested, yet keeps losing the key person. Good result for one of the villians. I felt really bad for the guy at the end who just needed relief. I like that the son of one of the ladies shows some growth. The daughter remains oblivious to the facts of her altered life. Good all in all for a quick mystery fix.
This tested my patience but after the halfway mark, it improved. Although I find one of the two narrators less than interesting, there was enough in the other characters to keep me going and the mystery proves a good puzzle to solve.
I had to force myself to finish it and, in the process, I did skim and skip parts in the middle: no sign that I missed anything. It has its moments but there aren't enough. Slow and nothing exciting. The cover says it has Grafton-like characters but it's not even close to that level. I wish the author had used more of her own military experience in the story and characterizations.
Not nearly as good as the first two. The thing that I didn't like was switching point of views. First of all, I don't really like GiGi, so the last thing I wanted was to read the story from her POV. But what was weird was that it switched from first person (GiGi) to third person (Charlie). That didn't flow for me. Plus, I like Charlie much better, and would rather read about her than GiGi.
I enjoyed this fun mystery. DiSilverio is quite creative, telling the story from two different narrators' points of view, one in first person, the other in third. A lesser writer could not pull this off, but with this author, it works. Now I need to read first two in the series!
Nice read, funny characters. A good book to cozy up to at night without so much suspense that I couldn't put it down and go to sleep. Sometimes, that's not a bad thing. I enjoy this series and am bummed that it doesn't seem to be continuing.
This was my 2nd book, and I enjoyed it. I'm kind of used to GiGi and Charlie now and wished there was another book after this one. Glad I found Swift Edge the Dollar Tree introducing me to this author.
Decent mystery in the series, the 3rd. Charlie is recovering from a gunshot wound, so Gigi takes the lead on the case. Gigi's, ex-husband's, new girlfriend hires them to locate the ex.
