When dinnertime rolls around (again), do you sometimes wish you could disappear? Here's a better Grab this book from the editors of Real Simple for easy, delicious dinner solutions.
Since most cooks are short on time, more than half of these recipes can be prepared in 30 minutes or less, and include tips along the way point to additional time-savers and other tricks of the trade. The recipes are arranged by season, to help you take advantage of what's fresh at the market, and are accompanied by photos so you know exactly what you're getting.
Pictures of recipes? Yes. Commentary on recipes? Some have none, most have tips of some sort. Nutrition facts? Yes! Recipe Style? Pretty simple. Any keepers? A couple.
This cookbook was amazing! I really enjoyed some of the recipes. The way the foods are described is really accurate. Many of the recipes would be easy to do and understand. There are so many recipes that could be used for a variety of occasions. The adjectives used are amazing and are really helpful. I'm looking forward to using these recipes. I recommend the book to anyone who wants good recipes for a party.
This is a good cookbook in the sense that it delivers what it promises. The recipes are generally pretty easy, and include ingredients that are easy to find or that you probably have already. And it's incredibly family friendly. There aren't many slow cooker recipes in here, and a few of the active times are a little long for weeknights, but overall this is a very useful book.
The best part? There is nutritional information at the end!
The worst part? I already have a lot of these recipes - it's really just a compilation from the magazine. There isn't much original content at all - few tips, etc but it's just packaged recipes from past issues. So, as a long-time subscriber (and recipe-clipper), this book wouldn't be worthwhile for me to buy.
Check this out if you don't subscribe to Real Simple and are looking for fast, easy ways to get dinner on the table during the week. If you already get the magazine, you probably don't need this book.
Lot's of simple delicious dinner ideas! I have used the recipes in this book for several meals now and enjoyed every one. The section on basic cake making and all the great baking tips will come in handy in the future and I love that the cake recipes are from scratch, not starting with a mix like many cook books! This book was a great find, and I can't wait to tackle the cherry cheese cake this fall!
I always enjoy Real Simple's recipes. Even though their website is quite good, I like to have a cookbook around.
They do use a lot of pasta and other high-carb elements in their recipes for simplicity's sake, which can be a bit of a bore for those of us who can't eat it often. I wouldn't recommend this recipe book to those on a low-carb diet, even though the nutrition is sound.
This is fine - not creative but delivers what it sets out to - but for a cookbook in a similar vein, Keepers is much better. Food from this book would need more seasoning to be to my taste, but that's fine for my purposes as I got it for ideas / starting blocks rather than recipes to actually follow.
Got this cookbook for Christmas and have already made quite a few recipes--all have been as delicious and easy as I expected! Real Simple has always been my go-to for recipes, and I love how this cookbook arranges recipes by the four seasons so that I can shop local, fresh, and cheap!
