Steal the salt. Bind the grimoire. Escape the male. Daughters of Askara, Book 3When an exchange of stolen goods in the Feriana marketplace turns sour, Isabeau stumbles from the encounter bruised and laden with new orders to complete an even larger heist. With her child’s life at stake, there’s no room for error—or allies. Armed with a lethal book of spells, she strikes a dangerous bargain with Roland Bernhard. Steal a shipment of salt from the Feriana colony, and she’ll have her freedom—and her daughter. It’s all she’s ever wanted. At least it was…until she runs into Dillon Preston. Dillon is out of commission after a mine explosion, and itching for a distraction. He gets it when the female who saved his leg arrives at the colony with nothing but flimsy excuses and even flimsier attire. She’s after something, but is it him—or the salt? Trapped in a desperate bid to gain true freedom, Isabeau is willing to sacrifice her life for her daughter’s, but Dillon has other plans. He wants a package deal, and he’s not willing to lose either female, even if it means the future king of Sere’s head will roll. This title contains a heroine desperate to save her daughter and a hero determined to make them a family. It also includes wings, horns and other assorted appendages.
Hailey Edwards writes about questionable applications of otherwise perfectly good magic, the transformative power of love, the family you choose for yourself, and blowing stuff up. Not necessarily all at once. That could get messy.
After trying 2 books in this series I'm going to go with: It just isn't for me.
I can't even really lay my finger on what doesn't work for me, it's just all together it isn't capturing my interest. Maybe some other time it will.
Because I really enjoyed A Hint of Frost, I'm definitely looking forward to more by Ms. Edwards in that series, and will be trying out some of her other books - just not the Daughters of Askara series. I'm giving up there.
Once again, Hailey Edwards has outdone herself. Eversworn continues the journey out of slavery and vicious torments the Evanti demons suffered. This book will leave you wondering if the villainous plot is truly over or if there is more to come. I want more!
The plot of this book was my favorite of the three. I liked the setting and the intrigues and court politics. The MCs make me angry, though, and I really didn't like how everyone gave Isabeau a pass for all she'd done. The romawance was kind of sweet, except that part where she betrayed him at every turn.
I've really loved some of Edwards books, but this series isn't my favorite.
That was much better I think I just really don’t like Emma or Harper! So this is Dillon Isabeau’s story and I really enjoyed it. He’s a grumpy guy who final warms through. This was an easy read and a decent continuation of the series.
Loved this one the best. I hate that not all the loose ends were tied up but I didn’t expect it with the way the other books went. I had also hoped for an epilogue.
Hailey Edwards has captured me as a devoted reader in discovering the realms of Askara. Her books continue to be emotionally challenging, with plenty of beautifully crafted, sexy scenes as well as enthralling plot lines and rich world building. If you haven't started the series at the beginning, Please read Everlong and then Evermine before this book. You won't be disappointed in the demons of Askara.
The third book in the series left me a little confused at first - of the characters I expected Hailey to focus on next, I was shocked to discover the book was about Dillon and Isabeau. During the first two books, they were present but as supporting characters, and honestly, not characters I was very interested in. I was wary at first when i realized that's who the story would focus on, but quickly overcame my own trepidation. Of all the books thus far in the series, the plot in this one was the most intriguing and involving. The character development was significantly better than the first two books and I felt like I was sunk into the sands of Askara as never before. Even if I didn't like the characters before, I began to love them because of their very apparent flaws and equally apparent strengths. Dillon's sudden fierceness and desire for Isabeau and all of her baggage, regardless of the cost to him, is awe inspiring - (Only to find a REAL guy like that, huh? Wow.)
I can't really say anything about the story that hasn't been stated in other reviews, but I will leave a few of my favorite quotes in the quotes section soon! Ultimately this is a solid addition to the book series, and I hope it isn't the last. Things in Askara are just getting hotter and hotter! Keep it up Ms. Edwards!
With every book in the series, Hailey Edwards just keeps raising the stakes! Isabeau’s got a few big secrets I never imagined and Dillon’s got his own secret as well as a darker past than I guessed. The combination makes for an emotional investment from the reader at the very beginning without ever letting go.
In addition to getting to know these two characters that we’ve really barely met in the previous book, we also see more magic in this one. Now I’ve read stories with magic in them, but this one is very fascinating because it’s neat to see magic portrayed as a living, sentient thing. We really get to learn about the progression of magic use and its corruption.
Eversworn is well paced with consistent development either in the story or the romance at all times, making for a late night read because you just can’t bear to put it down.
This is the third book of daughters of Askara. Both Isabeau and Dillon have conflicting personalities, problems that they struggle from. Dillon is unlikable from the start of the series, but there is more in depth of his character than what I've read before. Isabeau have a hidden agenda in that she needs redemption from in the end. The issues that needed to be solve and some of the scenes are too complicated for me that I can't understand it. The development of the two characters seems to be fast for me. Another book should be written so that it will tie the closed ends that this book brought.
I thoroughly enjoyed Isabeau & Dillion's story. It's one of desperation, sacrifice and a heated passion that burns bright. I did find myself once again frustrated with the heroine, but it's a factor that makes her such an interesting character. Every time I read a Daughters of Askara book, I'm always surprised. It's a magical world that is both a fantasy world and modern day Earth. Ms. Edwards does an excellent job of mixing the two. Eversworn is a thrilling read filled with intrigue, adventure and romance. Fantasy lovers beware this series can be addicting.
