Oh how I loved Khalil's protective instinct. It absolutely melted me. I enjoyed that this wasn't instant love as Khalil actually unfairly judged Grace at first when he didn't understand all that she went through and did for her niece and nephew. The growth between them was related beautifully with distinct changes to both their dynamic as individuals and considering their ever growing powers as well as them as a couple and eventual family. Khalil was a trip with his formal, organized, and antiquated thinking and Grace was not at all a planner, rolling with life's punches. The plot was very interesting and the pacing was excellent. The lovemaking is out of this world lol sometimes quite literally. Seriously though, Khalil can multitask during sex ya'll. I can't even tell you how awesome that is. I don't mean he can do two things. I mean he can do EVERYTHING AT THE SAME TIME. /swoon This world is shaping up to be very interesting with so many underlying nuances that I'm finding myself quite hooked. I've been binge listening on audiobook while working. :) Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. No rape/abuse. No condoms. Neither are Vs.

Grace and Khalil
What not to love about this book? There are:
-A powerful djinn who is extremely talented in sex, who is protective and good with children
-A sassy, strong-willed heroin who is also an Oracle and she does not really like it
-Two loveable children who need to have a steady, well balanced family
What I did not like in this book:
-My (favourite Dragon) Cuelebre's authority is questioned
-The so much needed Oracle is not payed enough
The book have everything!
Romance, battles, sex, unquestionable love, humour, family values, survival inspirations.
Another poweful Elder Race is introduced, the ageless djinns who are made of smoke and air and energy.
Disney should take a few lessons from their descriptions. Awesome!

If I won one of those multi-million dollar lotteries, after using a portion of my extensive wealth for good... and maintaining my harem of hot men... I would throw gobs and gobs of money at Thea Harrison until she agreed to come live next door and write me stories every day. This lady continues to completely knock my socks with her Elder Races series. And Oracle's Moon may be my favorite yet.
The super-sexy man at the center of this book is Khalil. As the last book ended, the djinn agreed to watch over the young children of the Oracle. And once he makes a vow, he is honor-bound to uphold it. Not for a day, but for life. Grace, the Oracle, isn't really thrilled to have him around. Her life is hard enough. She's only recently come into her powers. She is 23, dealing with injuries from a car accident, and raising her sister's kids. She doesn't have money. She doesn't have help. She is completely out of her depth. And a blustering, know-it-all djinn is the last thing she needs on top of all that.
But as Khalil begins to spend more time with the children, he begins to transform. He lets them into his heart, and somehow Grace comes along with them. For a being nearly as old as time, he is utterly clueless, but I loved watching him learn to open himself up and embrace human feeling and emotion. At the same time, Grace finds someone she can trust and lean on. This is more important than ever as she struggles to make the powers of the Oracle her own.
The thing I love most about the Elder Races books is the fact that Harrison never relies on the overused tropes of the genre. Khalil and Grace have to struggle and grow to achieve the relationship they're working toward. But they stay true to character as they do it. There's no big misunderstanding or eye-rolling roadblocks of their own making. Khalil is alpha and powerful without being a jerk to Grace; and she is pure of heart without being an untouched, unbelievable virgin.
This isn't a book that is filled with constant action and a big, epic external conflict. Though there is some action and danger, this is a love story. You actually get to see these characters fall in love. It's not fated. It's not instant. But it's captivating and wonderful and it feels... real.
I can't think of a single thing I didn't like about this book. From the uber-hot sex... to the romance... the action... the danger... the cameos... It was everything I wanted. And it provides a great set-up for the next book, which again focuses on Dragos and Pia. I can't wait. 5 stars.

There should be more djinn romances. I mean, a lot more. And not the "I Dream of Jeannie," borderline cheesy type. Djinns are one of the most powerful, downright scary types of mythical/folklore beings out there. They are very compelling. The djinn culture as presented in this book was so fascinating. So you can guess I loved this book?
I listened to this while I was doing stuff around the house, and it made my chores fly by. Thea Harrison has become one of my favorite paranormal romance writers because her books are so meaty and rich. The world-building and characterization is complex and nuanced. When I have a question about how certain things work in the world she has created, it is usually answered or naturalistically addressed. I became intrigued with both Khalil and Grace in the previous books. I was happy to see they were going to be paired together. I could see their chemistry from a mile away. Obviously, Khalil was drawn to the children because of the trauma he went through with his daughter Phaedra, but he seemed to react strongly to Grace's spunky and straightforward personality. As an older djinn, he's not used to being questioned or people going head to head with him, and it fascinates him that a mere, fragile human is able and willing to do so. I love how Harrison builds up their chemistry. They go from not really liking each other, but feeling intrigued with each other to full on love in a believable way (yeah, I get it's paranormal, but the romance aspects don't fall into the questionable iffy instalove category that can get old at times).
I loved the family dynamic. Grace took custody of her sister's children when she and her husband were killed in a car accident that led to Grace's debilitating knee injury. It's been hard to be so young, a college student, to becoming the breadwinner and the mother to two young children. On top of that, she has her legacy as the Oracle, the remaining member of the Andreas power to channel a powerful prophetic spirit. It's rough, but Grace handles everything with fortitude and lives up to her name. I believe that is part of why Khalil is drawn to her, that she is so strong and giving and caring for her family. His daughter is very important to him, and he connects to her love for the children. I loved Khalil's interactions with the kids. There's something about a big, tough hero who is sappy and loving with kids. Grace's niece and nephew are fun as well. Max is a young child, less than a year, and Chloe is two. Chloe is already strong-willed like Grace. Her conversations with Khalil are hilarious. I loved that Harrison integrated this family dynamic. It made the book for me, honestly, on top of the romance and the paranormal/fantasy aspects. It was really fun to see how Grace and Khalil's method of solving problems/parenting often clashed or differed. I will admit that I have some thoughts about what I would do if I have free wishes, or the power to have an army of djinn at my service.
Grace's power is interesting. The way in which antiquity and present is integrated together into the origin of her abilities is fascinating. Grace may seem like a fragile human, but she turns out to be one of the most powerful in the Elder Races, making the unfathomable age difference between her and Khalil seem a lot less significant. It was fun to see various VIP folks in the Elder Races come to Chloe for advice.
I love how each book in this series is unique and distinctive, although faithful to the worldbuilding, and each progressing the storyline in an enjoyable way. Harrison is a very evocative, cinematic writer. I could vividly see the scenes playing out as I listened to this novel. She had a way of keeping me on the edge of my seat to see how things would play out. It was not predictable in the slightest. I don't see myself getting bored with this series at all.
PS. I hope Phaedra gets a story.

Grace has more responsibilities and struggles than any 23 year old should have to deal with. Her sister, Petra, and brother-in-law were killed in a car crash. She was also in the car and suffered extensive damage to her knee that is painful on a daily basis. She also became the guardian to her young niece and nephew. As if that wasn’t enough, the Power of the Oracle transferred from Petra to Grace and now she’s learning how to control that Power and trying to make sense of it before she starts to be petitioned for consultations. And let’s not forget the piles of bills and debt she’s dealing with. Oracle’s aren’t able to request money for their services, the belief is they’ll lose their powers if they do this, however it was known in the past that if you petition the Oracle, you pay. People don’t always (never) remember this, and Grace is struggling to not only pays bills, but just getting food on the table is a stretch some months.
When Rune and Carling petitioned the Oracle (Serpent’s Kiss) Khalil was also present for the battle that went to down to close their book. He took one look at the kids and felt the overwhelming need to protect and be a guardian for them. He promised his protection to Grace, which for a Djinn is a huge favor, and he now has a tie to the house and family. Khalil’s energy is a thread that Grace can always feel, and she also discovered her ability to “pull” on that thread making Khalil aware of her need of him. It’s an ability she shouldn’t have, but that coupled with her new Powers as Oracle make for interesting changes within Grace.
While this story doesn’t have the political threads that the previous books do, or even much in the way of the Wyr world, it’s really driven by Grace and Khalil’s relationship and her new abilities as the Oracle. In the past, the Power of the Oracle traveled to a female within the same family upon the current Oracle’s death. Grace doesn’t want her niece Chloe to ever have to deal with the stress and danger of it, and she does a lot of testing with this power, trying to find a way to change the future course for her and her family. Along with this, she discovers a new ability that she just stumbles on, one that directly impacts Khalil and in the end, will have a big impact all the Djinn. Grace is also dealing with a radical group that targets her as part of a bigger purpose for them. It puts her and the kids in direct danger and helps to further cement Khalil’s place in their lives when he helps her get past this threat.
What made the story for me was Khalil. I was laughing so much when he tried to understand the human ways of certain things; like dating, for example. He’s very literal, and has no issues or internal filter with saying exactly what he’s thinking. He takes his job as protector of Grace and the kids very seriously. He bonds with the children instantly, and becomes their bedtime story reader, a task he is very committed to. His own daughter plays a part in this story and it’s a source of horrible sadness and angst for him. There’s more that develops for Khalil’s daughter as the book goes on, and that’s the one thing I would have loved to have gotten more about. We see her towards the end, a different person than she had been when Grace meets her at the start, and I want to know more about her. Maybe she’ll pop up in a later book, hopefully!
“…I want to know what it is like to make love to you the way humans do. I have never made love to anyone like that before.”
Never?
She whimpered. “Make love?”
He ran his hot mouth over her cheek and down her neck. “Make love,” he said against the tender skin at the base of her throat. “I want you to teach me everything you know. I want us to teach each other. I want you to show me how good it can feel, to be skin to skin. But right now, Gracie…” He lifted his head and looked down at her gravely. “Let me show you how I can make love to you.”
Khalil went from being an arrogant, self-serving, favor-grabbing being, to…well still being most of those things, but Grace’s influence really softened the edges of his personality. He has a lot of firsts with Grace, mainly because he’s never had the desire to experience the things he wants to experience with her. As he’s normally a being in energy form, he wants to experience being with Grace in human form, so the first touch of holding hands, kissing – it’s all new to him and his senses fly off the charts. As I mentioned above, Rune and Carling do make an appearance. We find out that Rune and Dragos are still on bad terms and Khalil visits them to give Carling the ‘what-for’ when she forgot to honor the payment to the Oracle after requesting her services. Not only is Khalil able to help take some of the burden away from Grace, which she badly needs, but he gets a little dating advice from Rune on what to wear during his first ever date:
When the silence had stretched between the two males for too long, Khalil finally said, “Speak.”
“Jeans. T-shirt. Either boots or sneakers,” Rune said. “Pay for everything, and open doors for her. Dating’s simple. Listen to what she says, tell her she’s beautiful and make her happy.”
Dating did not sound simple, except perhaps for one thing. Khalil looked at the Wyr quizzically. He said, “Grace is beautiful.”
That caused the other male to pause. For the first time in their spiky acquaintance, Rune gave him a crooked, yet real smile. “Dude, let her know that with the same kind of sincerity. You will make her happy, and it doesn’t matter what you do. You can go to a movie, take a walk in a park, hold hands, go to a restaurant for a meal, or to a bar for a drink, sit on a beach and watch the sun rise at dawn or stand on your head – it’s all just variations on the same theme.”
Khalil has never been called “dude” before. He was fairly sure he didn’t like it.
We don’t get much in the build-up to the next book, which brings us back to Dragos and Pia. Grace does have a very strong vision that Dragos learns of. It doesn’t make much sense now, but he does show back up at the end requesting another consultation with the Oracle for both him and Pia. I can’t wait to find out what’s been going on in their lives, and especially how Dragos is dealing with losing two of his top sentinels, including his close friendship with Rune.
I missed a little bit of the play of dynamics in the Wyr/Elder World that we’ve come to know during the first few books in the series, but I fully enjoyed getting to know Grace, her family and seeing her and Khalil fall in love. Khalil is strong being, but softens around the children and Grace and it was easy to fall into their story. There’s not a lot in the way of angst, or suspense in this one, but the strong romance and an especially strong heroine and hero really made this story for me. I love this world that Thea Harrison has created and each book has a very different, distinct tone which brings the individual characters to life all that much more. This is another great addition to the series and I’m again, left wanting and waiting for the next installment.

Normally I don't like children predominantly featured in my paranormal books, they get in the way of fights, action, killing times. You get the picture. The story is about Grace, the newly me intend Oracle (of Delphi), located in KY. She became the Oracle when her sister and brother-in-law died in a car accident a few months ago and left two children under four. She's having a really hard time adjusting to everything - taking care of two children, leave of absence from college, recovering from knee surgeries from the car accident, paying overdue bills, and comprehending her new job as the Oracle. To say she's frazzled and overwhelmed is understatement. She's also the last of her family, so no one else to rely on.
In the previous and exceedingly boring book, Carling, Rune, and Khalil come to see the Oracle for a reading (? Soothsaying?). This is where Khalil first enters Grace's life and never leaves, much to her dismay. Khalil is a Djinn, so he gets around in a cyclone and is basically a spirit of air and magic that can take shape. He also really likes kids and wants to protect and visit with Grace's wards. The kids love him, but Grace isn't too happy about a haughty Djinn stranger guy hanging around uninvited. But you try telling a Djinn to leave, like they listen to anyone, especially a very young human woman (I wouldn't either if I a Djinn, I'd be too cool).
At first, Khalil & Grace butt heads because he thinks he's all knowing and she doesn't trust magical strangers. He's quite a pain at first, not understanding anything about humans and what's right or wrong to tell/teach small children. Gradually, he begins to see things from a new perspective and is a help to Grace. I really liked his interactions with the children.
Now that Khalil is a little less of a haughty bastard, he starts enjoying conversations with Grace. They play truth games and generally debate. It's amusing. Grace, loosens up and starts enjoying conversations with an adult (Khalil), who's really brawny and hot, btw. She also begins to embrace her powers as the Oracle and expand upon her natural Power talents outside of her Oracle Power. I appreciated that every action she took, was considered in relation to how it would affect the children. She was a capable and smart heroine + she knew how to maneuver people - I appreciate a good strategist. It helps she had the Oracle's powers of clairvoyance/foresight.
The rest of the book is about some scary end of the world Oracle visions Grace has, lots of old timers from the Elder Races stopping by for consultations, a close call or two with death, and a very interesting looking future. I'm interested to know what future decisions she's able to explore with her Oracle powers. All in all, this has been my favorite so far in terms of flow of the plot, not drowning me in info dumps, or if there were info dumps, they weren't boring or repetitive, the interesting nature of the Oracle & the history of its power, Khalil and all his alpha badassery, his awesome cycle manner of transportation, and a good villain. 5 Djinn Loving Stars!!
I originally read this book in March 2012 and again at least once a year since then and just realized I've not wrote a review....ever for this fantastic book!
This is one of my absolute favorite books in the series. I absolutely adore Grace, young precocious Chloe, and baby Max. Grace has custody of her beloved niece and nephew since their parents (her sister and Brother in law) untimely deaths. And then there's Khalil, Djinn Prince of House Madrid.
Gracie and Khalil are entertaining, enduring, and just plain fun!! Khalil is pompous, arrogant, rude, and judgmental with Gracie. Yet with the children he is a total pushover!!
Eventually, the more time he spends with Grace who is an Oracle for the Elder Races, he realizes that Gracie is much more than he bargained for and he completely misjudged her. He comes to admire and care for her....deeply.
Khalil becomes a protector for both Gracie and the children when it becomes apparent that someone is out to hurt her. Naturally they become closer and their mutual attraction become too much for either to ignore.

5+ "A Whole New World..." Stars!
Wow! It's been almost a full day and I'm still excited (that's sayin' something right there, folks). Ok, so the entire time I was reading this book, the song "A Whole New World" from Disney's ALADIN was playing in my head. Probably because that movie genie was my go to genie reference before now. Now, Khalil will always and forever be my number one Djinn. You can't call Khalil a genie, he's a Djinn Prince. Plus they aren't called genies in the book. And Genie- ALADIN- and Khalil are absolutely nothing alike. Just wanted to make sure that was understood. That's just how my crazy brain works. I'm somewhat rambling... but, a whole new world is what I felt Khalil was experiencing after he met Grace.
"He was euphoric, disturbed. He thought this must be what intoxication felt like. He wasn't altogether sure he liked it." -Khalil
This book clicked all my 'why I read romance books' buttons. Particularly PNR/Fantasy books. Grumpy, autocratic, dictatorial, self-absorbed, arrogant, ancient, and I do mean ANCIENT alpha male know-it-all; with almost limitless power. He doesn't sound so great huh? But he sooo was so great. Not to mention sexy. Meets hard working, smart, clever, sassy, not taking his crap, young- especially compared to him-woman who was immersed in unexpectedly raising children and the chaos of life; with not a small amount of (not fully tapped) power of her own. EXPLOSIVE FIREWORKS COMENSE! I loved both Khalil and Grace so much! Their story did not disappoint me at all. The one and only complaint I have was that I didn't want it to end.
"'You will call me.' he said against her lips. 'Swear, Gracie. I cannot stand it if you do not call me.'" -Khalil
The children... I am a SUCKER for a story involving kids. After the tragic death of her sister, Grace was raising her niece and nephew, Chloe and Max. They were both simply adorable and played a very nice roll in the story.
"The baby had begun to snore. He sounded like a squeaky toy. Khalil put his cheek against Max's head, rubbing his small back." -Grace
For me, there are not many more sexy images in the world than a very masculine man lovingly holding a baby or patiently taking time with a small child. Ovaries explode!!
This may be my favorite PNR this year. It was certainly my favorite of this series so far. It had everything I love about reading PNR. The writing was beautiful. It had a great couple; both H and h had great character and neither did anything too stupid or jerkish. Kids, love the kids. Lots of good action and a good mystery to solve. Some laugh out loud comedic moments. Awesome paranormal powers as well as some real life skills and some real life problems. And most of all, an absolutely swooney romance with some very sensual sexy times thrown in. I loved every sentence! Now, on to the next book, Lord's Fall because I cannot wait to get back to the ELDER RACES world and I am very much so hoping to get more Khalil and Grace, not to mention Dragos and Pia. Highly recommended- the whole series- for PNR fans. Happy reading!!

While the romance here is lovely and the main dude awesome, there is a surprising lack of action in this one, and I mean absolutely nothing happens through most of the book, one or two intense scenes being the exception. I guess I'm used to my PNR to be more dynamic and faster, not just centered on thoughts and conversations. Same as in the previous two books, the second half of it is unbelievably mushy, so that got me from 5 stars while reading the first half to 3 stars after finally finishing it. It was a good book but so far the first was the best, I'm hoping Dragos will repeat his awesomeness in the next one.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this novel. It picks up where Serpent's Kiss left off (I believe it's the morning after the events that transpired at the end of the book). Though this can probably stand alone, I recommend reading Serpent's Kiss first.
This novel is much more internally focused than the previous books were. While there is outside conflict, it doesn't come to play until later in the book. Mostly we got to see Grace and Kahlil interacting with each other on a daily basis, in a relatively quiet setting. I really enjoyed the slow pace of the novel (it wasn't a slow read, just a slow-paced romance). We really saw them fall in love, which is refreshing from the romances that only tell us a couple has fallen.
Grace was a strong character and a great counter for Kahlil with his arrogance. Kahlil softens toward Grace and her children as the novel wears on, and his compassion and tenderness worked to underscore his alpha-ness. Harrison writes great strong male characters who are well balanced with the softer emotions.
Another winner. This series just keeps getting better.

★★★★★ (This is a review of the audiobook.) As I’ve said before, Sophie Eastlake is not my favorite narrator. In truth, she’s one of the reasons I’ve not returned to this series in a while. That, and there was a lot of politics in the last two. But I recently read the short story #3.5 True Colors, and I thought I’d see if this talented author could capture the magic of the first book in the series. Ms. Eastlake is the reader for this audiobook series, and some people just adore her, so don’t let me stop you from giving her a try. Indeed, she is definitely improving. She’s not as dry and she’s getting better at infusing various personalities into the characters. She does a good job with Grace’s “southernish” accent.
Loved, loved, loved this story! What TH does with Khalil, a djinn prince and our hero, is amazing. Djinns are dark, nebulous spirits who are often very dangerous. Lucky for our heroine, Grace Andreas, this one is also quite fond of children. Grace is a very likable heroine, with the weight of the world on her shoulders. She’s not only the new Oracle, a métier she never wanted; she has recently become guardian of her young niece and nephew. (Two adorable, realistic, orphaned tots, who steal more than one scene.)
The two adults aren’t quite enemies at the beginning, but they certainly don’t like one another. Ms. Holt makes their steps toward respect, friendship, and love quite believable – with lots of witty dialogue along the path. Grace bargains for protection of the children, not knowing Khalil has already seen to it. One of the funniest parts is when Khalil decides they should date. An Oracle and a Djinn? And who knew a Djinn could become a sexy hero, morphing into a sensitive male? Fun!
I wouldn’t say this has a clean, crisp finish with the entire goings on all resolved. It is really more of an important cog in the wheel of future set-ups. Along with it being a delightful paranormal romance. Highly recommend.

I loved the first book in the series and with the rest I had problems because I felt the other things, like politics over-shadowed the romance but this one wasn't like this. It was all romance and I loved it.
Grace was the new Oracle after her sister and her husband died. It was a role she never thought she would have to take and instead of dealing with the grief of losing her family, she has no time, she has her niece and nephew to take care of, a new role to play as well as deal with the fact that they are practically bankrupt. She has no time to complete her degree or deal with bills and she doesn't want to deal with a Djinn, Khalil who does not want to leave them alone.
I loved seeing the interactions between Grace and Khalil, they were awkward because Grace was so human, impulsive and out-spoken while Khalil was more formal and used to dealing in barters like the Djinn kind do. He adores kids and would do anything not see them get hurt as his daughter was, so he hangs around them and with some hiccups he and Grace get to know each other.
I liked the gradual progress of the romance and I actually found Grace to be very spunky and try to make best of the life she was handed. I also liked how she tried to test the boundaries of her powers and was strong in her own right. The hero was an alpha used to getting things his way so he did get angry when he felt Grace didn't call for his help but I liked how she made him see his side of things.
And the conversation between Rune and Khalil about dates was hilarious.

For those of you who love their PNR romances, please don't mistake this DNF as being a bad story (quite the opposite, in fact). No, this was a DNF for me because it's a proven fact that Jewelsy DOES NOT have the brain capacity to comprehend paranormal jargon!
Maybe it wasn't a clever move to jump straight into book #4 of a PNR series, without reading book #1 for background purposes. And maybe I'm so exhausted by my kids, that I've lost all valuable sleep/brain cells, making my eyes and brain blur at ANY mentions of oracles, djinns, other universes and anything remotely PNR related.
Don't get me wrong. All the mundane, slash, non PNR aspects of this book were still fun to read... but those few moments took a backseat to all the PNR politics and... well... let's just say; I started skimming those bits :(
This was a good learning experience for me, as I have always wondered why I was never compelled to read hardcore PNR books, and now I know (even though I have enjoyed some Piers Anthony and Pittacus Lore books way back when). I guess these days, my brain can only handle contemporary romances and smut. If I were to read anything PNR related in the future, I know it would need to be much simpler, with a heavier focus on the romance and be MUCH lighter on the PNR jargon (think Alexa Riley's shifter series. Other recommendations gratefully welcomed).
I haven't yet given up on successfully completing a PNR, fantasy or sci-fi book one day, but until that day; it looks like I'll need to attend some kinda reading school for PNR comprehension 101.
My only regret DNF'ing this book, is that I never got far enough to know if there were even any steamy scenes *insert pouty face*

Oracle's Moon is the fourth book in the Elder Races series and I can't believe it has taken me so long to get to this book because WOWZERS!! Seriously, if you haven't read Oracle's Moon yet, then I can't recommend it enough, this book blew me away into the ocean and to the moon and beyond. I honestly couldn't put this book down, I listened to it in one DAY...its, not an audiobook you listen to in one day, but I did it because it was that good. And with all Hallows Eve coming u, this book was simply perfect. Ever since I read Serpent's Kiss where we are introduced to Grace and Khalili and Grace's nephew and niece. So I couldn't wait to grab this one up because you just knew that there was something more between the Oracle and the djinn and this might be my favorite except for Dragon Bound.
Our delicious story begins with our setting in Louisianna, in a small community out in the countryside where Grace and her niece and nephew live. Grace's sister Petra and her husband were killed in a car accident, and so not only did Petra's Oracle gifts pass down to Grace, and Grace severely injured but she also gained custody of Petra's two children, a five-year-old girl, and a nine-month-old boy. She never realized what sacrifices she would have to make to be the Oracle and the low pay. She is barely making it by supporting her niece and nephew and being the Oracle. She meets Khalili, a Djinn when he is called in for a favor by the vampire Carling, and he is moved by the innocence of the two little children and makes a promise to always protect them.
Khalil doesn't like humans, he doesn't trust them, he views them as deceitful. But Khalil is fascinated with Chloe and Max, two innocents who have captured his heart. He wants to protect them and make sure no harm comes to them. Khalil wasn't able to protect his daughter from being captured and tortured by her mother but he wants to protect Chloe and Max. Especially since human children are very different from Djinn children. But even though he doesn't think Grace is good enough for Chloe and Max, he is beginning to like her and admires her tenacity and her love for Chloe and Max. Soon a friendship builds between Grace and Khalil and something more powerful, but Grace has some enemies and her powers are increasing ....will they survive the coming danger and find love along their journey?
All I want to say first and foremost is this book packs a wild punch and is one of the best of the series so far. I first want to do a shout out to Sophie Eastlake, who narrated this wonderful piece of work and she did a superb job bringing the characters to life. She is one of my favorite female narrators and I had a blast hearing her narrate Grace and Khalil's book and she really brought out the humor just right.
This story has so much going for it, and if you are looking for the perfect Halloween type read....then I would say you need this book in your life. It has witches, magic, dragon shifters, ghosts, and djinn. I love the way that the story builds and the unique development of the romance because WOW. Their love tale really packs a powerful punch. And the SEX...okay I have never read a sex scene like the one they have. Those who have read this KNOW exactly what I mean by this. There is one big sex scene and *blew my mind* because crazy sauce, this Djinn knows how to pleasure his woman in every way. I have read a ton of romance over the years and I have never read such a unique sex scene like Thea Harrison writes here.
The growth and change in the relationship between Khalil and Grace were so beautiful to see. Because in the beginning they so don't care for each other. Grace is trying to find a way to get rid of the Djinn because she doesn't trust him and he keeps posing as a cat or a dog with the kids and talking in his animal's forms to them and she doesn't know what the consequences in the long run will be for them. Grace is such a strong heroine. She is a fighter and very strong in her magical abilities. But she is learning the craft and very new at it. She is grieving for her sister and brother in law and trying her best to be the best guardian for her niece and nephew who drive her kinda crazy at times. And she is barely getting paid for her Oracle gifts. Khalil has his own demons that he has to face here, the daughter that has kinda gone insane because of the torture she went under but we learn that Grace will play a hand in helping her heal and recover. Khalil will learn that not all humans are bad and some are really good since he slowly falls in love with Grace and the kids. And boy....the way he tries out dating is AWESOME. I mean he is so new at it, and it was so endearing to see the way he courts Grace and wants her to have the BEST first date ever.
The plot of the story just flows so seamlessly and I really admired the way that Thea Harrison writes this book because its so well written and I love the little snippets of mystery and intrigue and danger that come into the plot that tugs at the reader's curiosity and engages you into a story fully. I simply fell in love with Khalil and Grace and the journey of magic and the love they find along the way.
Overall Oracle's Moon is a journey of strength, magic and a test of wills. A enemies to lovers romance that is like a breath of life and so fresh and packed with wit and sexy times that will leave you with shivers and delights. BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!

Oracle's Moon is the fourth book in the Elder Races series and I can't believe it has taken me so long to get to this book because WOWZERS!! Seriously, if you haven't read Oracle's Moon yet, then I can't recommend it enough, this book blew me away into the ocean and to the moon and beyond. I honestly couldn't put this book down, I listened to it in one DAY...its, not an audiobook you listen to in one day, but I did it because it was that good. And with all Hallows Eve coming u, this book was simply perfect. Ever since I read Serpent's Kiss where we are introduced to Grace and Khalili and Grace's nephew and niece. So I couldn't wait to grab this one up because you just knew that there was something more between the Oracle and the djinn and this might be my favorite except for Dragon Bound.
Our delicious story begins with our setting in Louisianna, in a small community out in the countryside where Grace and her niece and nephew live. Grace's sister Petra and her husband were killed in a car accident, and so not only did Petra's Oracle gifts pass down to Grace, and Grace severely injured but she also gained custody of Petra's two children, a five-year-old girl, and a nine-month-old boy. She never realized what sacrifices she would have to make to be the Oracle and the low pay. She is barely making it by supporting her niece and nephew and being the Oracle. She meets Khalili, a Djinn when he is called in for a favor by the vampire Carling, and he is moved by the innocence of the two little children and makes a promise to always protect them.
He looked at Chloe "Come over to the table. Sit with your aunt. I will clear away the mess and....I will achieve pancakes."
Grace's lovely, tired face wobbled with looked suspiciously like mirth, but she had been under so much stress he decided his first impression could not be correct.
"You'll achieve pancakes?"
"I do not see why not" he said
"Have you ever achieved them before?" she said
"That question is irrelevant," he told her, while his eyes narrowed in suspicion on her tired face. On a Djinn, her expression would definitely be laughter. "I will achieve pancakes now.
Khalil doesn't like humans, he doesn't trust them, he views them as deceitful. But Khalil is fascinated with Chloe and Max, two innocents who have captured his heart. He wants to protect them and make sure no harm comes to them. Khalil wasn't able to protect his daughter from being captured and tortured by her mother but he wants to protect Chloe and Max. Especially since human children are very different from Djinn children. But even though he doesn't think Grace is good enough for Chloe and Max, he is beginning to like her and admires her tenacity and her love for Chloe and Max. Soon a friendship builds between Grace and Khalil and something more powerful, but Grace has some enemies and her powers are increasing ....will they survive the coming danger and find love along their journey?
All I want to say first and foremost is this book packs a wild punch and is one of the best of the series so far. I first want to do a shout out to Sophie Eastlake, who narrated this wonderful piece of work and she did a superb job bringing the characters to life. Khalil, so sweet! *sigh*. Really, I admire Thea Harrison, she writes amazing, varied, fascinating characters. Especially the heroes. I liked this installment a lot, but maybe in part to my mood wasn't able to fully enjoy it. Still, another winner by TH. Not to mention-that excerpt from the next book... Wow!
Khalil
I already mentioned Khalil right? He's my favorite part of the book. He's regal, lost, cutely confused and arrogant at the same time. Yeah. And HOT!
Khalil is a Djinn prince who has lost many things in his life and now he has given hi protection to a human and her children(she's their guardian), but it isn't appreciated! Oh, the affront! The insult! Still, he persists, and despite the disastrous first date and the 2nd one wasn't much better(dumping a human unexpectedly on the moon...yeah, not a good move)

She nodded, too rapidly, and forced herself to stop. “I just wondered.”
“Humans like to date,” Khalil said thoughtfully. Then he turned decisive. “That is what we will do tomorrow. We will go on a date.”
"She is my friend.” Khalil crossed his arms. “We are going on a date tonight.”
Silence filled the villa. Both Carling and Rune stood frozen.
Khalil had nearly forgotten one detail. He added thoughtfully, “I am to dress casually.”
Rune’s suntanned skin darkened dramatically. He broke into a convulsive fit of coughing. “Excuse me,” he whispered. “I need a drink of water.”
Both Khalil and Carling watched Rune stride rapidly out of the room. Carling’s face was rigid as she watched her lover leave, but her gaze held an expression that looked, to Khalil, peculiarly pained, as if she had been betrayed.
Carling turned back to Khalil. She raised her eyebrows. “So what are you going to wear?”
He didn’t have a clue. He hadn’t planned that far ahead. He said, “I thought I would Google for images of casual wear in Louisville.”
"Khalil’s lean face creased with a keen smile. “You are beautiful,” he said with evident pleasure. His pure, gorgeous voice sounded the same. “Clearly bathing suits you.”
She choked on an unexpected bubble of laughter. Khalil had quite a way to go in the learning-how-to-give-compliments department, but she wasn’t about to bring that up, when he spoke with such sincerity."

Grace is broke, left alone to raise her sister's children and is a brand new oracle. Yeah, that'd be a lot for every girl to take in. Grace is tough, but no one is THAT tough. When a Djinn starts harassing her, too, she starts to lose it. She keeps it together and keeps the Khalil-bane-of-her-existence (her words) around. Luckily for her it turns out he's quite the man-like creature.Anyway, I liked Grace. She's great, fun and in love with a Djinn. She's also the Oracle. THE Oracle, if you know what mean. No? Guess you'll have to read the book. Hardship, I know :). Anyway she really stepped up and I simply LOVED the kids. Adorable!
I can't wait for more of Dragos and Pia, though! Shouldn't have read the excerpt, I know *g*.

I loved Loved LOVED this book! It's been a while since I've felt this way. If weren't for the slipping towards then end this would have been a 6 star read for sures!
But whatever! I loved it and will definitely visit these guys again!

Liking this series. I like the kinds of series where each book that focuses on new characters but doesn't forget the previous characters. I hate those series where every new book seems like the previous books characters don't exist anymore. SERIOUSLY!!!

AMAZING!!!!!!!
After the disappointment of Serpent's Kiss, Thea Harrison has completely redeemed herself with this book.
Kahlil & Grace's relationship was breathtakingly sweet. Watching it progress & grow from "protection" to love was a journey! I think my favorite part of romance books is experiencing new love with the characters. The butterflies in the stomach, the anticipation of the others arrival, the expectation of the first kiss. A talented author will enable you to feel these emotions with the characters & Harrison excelled at it with this book. I felt part of Kahlil & Grace's relationship.
Apart from their romance, Grace & Kahlil are Kick Ass Characters. Grace's strength & perseverance & Kahlil's solidity wowed me.
There came a time in the book where I feared Harrison might be falling into her formulaic pattern but suddenly ... BOOOOOM! The other shoe dropped & it was a thing of wonder!
Now, for the story:
So ... if you haven't read this series, please do. It's brilliant. Start with book #1 Dragon Bound, which was a 5 star read for me, as well.

I’ve had a bit of a crush on Khalil ever since he first appeared in the last book, Serpent’s Kiss, and had been desperately hoping that he and Grace would get a book together. Sexy, incredibly powerful, a bit of a mystery (especially since he’s the first “non-wyr” hero to feature in the series), he’s also got the whole “tortured hero” thing in regards to his daughter. He’s arrogant, bossy, and powerful, yet he also has a very obvious soft spot for children, without turning into some sappy squishy weakling, which I loved.
Grace is easily my favorite heroine in the series as well. Human, with only minor psychic powers before having inherited the mantle of “Oracle”, Grace is the easiest heroine in the series for me to relate to. While she’s not a wilting flower, she’s not some incredible, ancient, kick-butt action star either. Instead, she’s just a young woman who has been forced to put her life on hold to take care of her niece and nephew, try to pay the mortgage, grieve for her sister and brother-in-law, and still maintain the dignity and level of service required of the Oracle. She’s not perfect, and she doesn’t try to be, and I think that’s one of the reasons I loved her so much.
In short, this was actually my favorite book of the series, and considering how I fangirled all over Dragon Bound, that should definitely tell you something. The chemistry between Khalil and Grace was absolutely wonderful, and both characters were beautifully developed on their own. While I think some readers may feel as though the main external conflict was not on as large a scale as those of the previous novels, but I personally felt that the “smaller” conflict fit well with these particular characters.
An unbelievably solid 5/5 Stars, and recommended for old fans of the series and newcomers alike.

Wow! It's been almost a full day and I'm still excited (that's sayin' something right there, folks). Ok, so the entire time I was reading this book, the song "A Whole New World" from Disney's ALADIN was playing in my head. Probably because that movie genie was my go to genie reference before now. Now, Khalil will always and forever be my number one Djinn. You can't call Khalil a genie, he's a Djinn Prince. Plus they aren't called genies in the book. And Genie- ALADIN- and Khalil are absolutely nothing alike. Just wanted to make sure that was understood. That's just how my crazy brain works. I'm somewhat rambling... but, a whole new world is what I felt Khalil was experiencing after he met Grace.

This book clicked all my 'why I read romance books' buttons. Particularly PNR/Fantasy books. Grumpy, autocratic, dictatorial, self-absorbed, arrogant, ancient, and I do mean ANCIENT alpha male know-it-all; with almost limitless power. He doesn't sound so great huh? But he sooo was so great. Not to mention sexy. Meets hard working, smart, clever, sassy, not taking his crap, young- especially compared to him-woman who was immersed in unexpectedly raising children and the chaos of life; with not a small amount of (not fully tapped) power of her own. EXPLOSIVE FIREWORKS COMENSE! I loved both Khalil and Grace so much! Their story did not disappoint me at all. The one and only complaint I have was that I didn't want it to end.

The children... I am a SUCKER for a story involving kids. After the tragic death of her sister, Grace was raising her niece and nephew, Chloe and Max. They were both simply adorable and played a very nice roll in the story.

This may be my favorite PNR this year. It was certainly my favorite of this series so far. It had everything I love about reading PNR. The writing was beautiful. It had a great couple; both H and h had great character and neither did anything too stupid or jerkish. Kids, love the kids. Lots of good action and a good mystery to solve. Some laugh out loud comedic moments. Awesome paranormal powers as well as some real life skills and some real life problems. And most of all, an absolutely swoony romance with some very sensual sexy times thrown in. I loved every sentence! Now, on to the next book, Lord's Fall because I cannot wait to get back to the ELDER RACES world and I am very much so hoping to get more Khalil and Grace, not to mention Dragos and Pia. Highly recommended- the whole series- for PNR fans. Happy reading!!

With any great series, it's hard for each news book to stand up to high expectations. Add to that a first book that has joined the ranks of "re-read favorites", and I was paralyzed with excitement and fear when I picked up ORACLE'S MOON. No one is more excited than I to find that no only did ORACLE'S MOON stand up to how much I enjoyed SERPENT'S KISS, it has joined DRAGON BOUND as a book that I know I'll be re-reading to enjoy again in the future. Grace and Khalil's relationship, as well as the sub-plot of Khalil's acclimation to a human family, are both charming and unique variations of the rescue-the-single-mom-and-her-moppets romance trope. Even better, Harrison explores the relationship between an immortal, infinitely powerful non-human and a young human woman in ways that were not only entertaining but also completely enjoyable as a romance.
As difficult as it is to imagine, Khalil may actually give Dragos a run for the money as my favorite Elder Races hero. Not as alpha as that sexy dragon, Khalil shares a similar deadpan humor. Whether he's negotiating with a four year old or drunken college boys, he always had me cracking up. Couple that with being a one-man orgy (in one of the best written magical sex scenes I've ever read), or the description of him experiencing human flesh for the first time ever, and there is plenty of chemistry to balance the emotional richness of the story.
I have a hard time judging how well ORACLE'S moon would stand up as a stand alone. The relationship between Grace and Khalil is completely accessible, however the backstory of how they met (and the context of Dragos, Rune, and Carling) may be difficult to pick up without at least reading SERPENT'S KISS. Do yourself a favor, however, and pick up this series at the beginning. Harrison blends romance with a robust mythology that few, if any paranormal romance series can match.

Read #2 (3/1/2012): It may be a warning sign if you read a book twice before it comes out... Or it's a really great sign. Khalil and Grace completely hold up for a second time around (I'm even more in love with Khalil, which I didn't think could be possible). The teaser chapter at the end has me all worked up in a frenzy for Elder Races #5, too. More Pia and Dragos, *squeeee*.
Read #3 (1/27/14): I was on my way to read FALLING LIGHT, and somehow found myself re-reading ORACLE'S MOON instead. Disconnected from any of the other books in the series, I found the mentions of Carling and Dragos and portents a little distracting, still love Khalil to the high heavens.
(12/15/16): This is the first time I've read ORACLE'S MOON since my kids were born. Coming back to this story with two toddlers in the house adds a whole different emotional layer to everything. I cried a lot more, for Chloe and Max, for Grace... and when Khalil rattled off everything a nine month old needed for a weekend trip, man, I *felt it*. Talk about a hero with a capital "H", I fell a little bit in love right then.

I mean, this is a 3 1/2 for me overall, but I enjoyed the hero so much and his malapropisms, that I bumped it up, haha. This is a continuation of a series that I read the first one in (and enjoyed in a really tongue-in-cheek way). We picked this as an alt in my Vaginal Fantasy book because it was "Djinn" month, and I really enjoyed it! The practical problems of an Oracle who's a single mother of two small children and has real financial problems could have been a bit lame, but I really bought into her real-life problems even when it seems improbable because of her gifts. I loved the hero/heroine's growth, and the ending was really fun, very "go get 'em!" I want to back up and read #2 and #3 now!

I absolutely loved it.
Grace and Khalil were fantastic mc's.
The action was amazing and at one point I literally couldn't breath while so much happened.
The intimate scenes were spot on fantastic. Talk about Out of Body Sex scenes! Wow!
And the side characters of the kids, Chloe & Max, the other Dijinn, and so many others just made this an exceptional read.
The flow and pace was spot on perfection.
I am excited to read the next book to see what happens in this unique and wonderful world that the author has created.

A terrific 4.5 stars. I am so loving the Elder Races series by Thea Harrison! (Book 1 -Dragon Bound- is one of my all-time faves and I have re-read it at least 3 times. I liked it a wee bit better than this one, which is why this one was 4.5 stars and not 5).
What I particularly enjoyed about Oracle's Moon is the different kind of characters we get to meet.
Our heroine, Grace, has a rather strange purpose in her life. She is known as the Oracle. Yes, as in Delphi. She gives consultations to help people but does not have any control over how her responses manifest themselves. She is also very fragile, while at the same time incredibly brave and determined. When her sister and brother-in-law are killed in a car accident, she inherits not only the gift of prophecy, but also her nephew and niece. Despite her own injury, that has left her with a permanent limp and weakness in one knee, she takes on that responsibility and runs with it, sacrificing her own chance at making a life for herself. I loved how she cared for those kids.
I also loved the kids. I find, as a mum, that not all authors can portray children realistically. They are often too old for their years or are very two-dimensional- either cute, or bratty, never anything in between. This author clearly understands young children, and they were so much fun in this book. And they were very important, because they really facilitated the connection between Grace and our hero, Khalil.
Khalil. A djinn. Interesting and initially kinda weird. He could dematerialise, turn into smoke, go to the moon (he didn't need to breathe) or become His Incredible Hotness in relatively human form. Whew! What I especially enjoyed was his genuine bemusement at what he started to feel for the kids first, and then for Grace. He was so old, so inhuman (in his own opinion) and so superior to these silly humans, he really struggled with his FEELINGS. He became grumpy, moody, bitchy, then over-protective, yet he never behaved like that towards the kids, to whom he was patience and gentleness itself. A man (well, a superman, I suppose) who adores kids, cuddles babies and reads them stories every night. Sigh.
How Grace and Khalil find their way to each other, how he supports her while always respecting her gifts and intelligence, how she comes to see the complex person beneath his arrogant facade, and how they become a team, caring for the kids and each other: it was wonderful.
Leaving aside the beautifully drawn relationships aspect of the book, it is a ripping good yarn with lots of action and drama. The couple of sex scenes were, as usual, very hot. And for a change (I am a bit of a romantic here) we had no use of the F word etc. Because Khalil is old-school too. And kind of a gentleman. (Many of TH's books in this series have explicit sex and dirty talk. I am sure that is what authors sometimes feel readers want these days. That's fine, but this was a lovely change of mood/vibe).
I warmly recommend this series to readers who enjoy detailed worlds in PNR, with deftly drawn characters and intense, complex relationships.

02/09/15 reread: Next to Dragon Bound, this is my other comfort read in this series. Something about how Grace's plight makes Khalil reexamine everything he thinks he knows gets to me. HARD. Yep, I still love this one like mad.

Standard disclaimer: I love this series. Seriously, I'm stupidly in love with every little piece of this world. I plan on fangirling so hard that I'm going to need oxygen before I get to the end of this review.
Yeah. So. This book blew me away. I mean, for the love of small furry creatures, how much can one poor girl take before she cracks wide open and turns into a gibbering mess? Grace is holding on by her fingernails in the beginning and it got to me. She's floundering and she's trying her hardest to make ends meet while attempting to learn about this new power she's suddenly inherited and it's difficult to read about. On top of that, she's trying to understand the events that happened at the end of the 3rd book. I felt for her. I felt her exhaustion and her fear. She's shell-shocked and scared and she deals with it by trying to hold Khalil at arms length.
Khalil, for his part, doesn't make things terribly easy on her at first. He makes some pretty big assumptions about her in the beginning and it takes a while for him to see that she really is doing the best that she can. Frankly, I loved that he was so endearingly clueless about humans. He does make an effort to learn, however, and that effort slowly wins Grace over.
One of the things that I'm absolutely intrigued by with every book in this series is the worldbuilding. Simply put, it's fabulous. Each book adds a new layer to the existing mythology to deepen and enrich it. We've seen the structuring of the Wyr, the Dark Fae, the Vampires and now the Demonkind. This world is huge and faceted. I love the little glimpses we get of the different demesnes. I love learning more about the pieces that make up the whole. It's dark and sometimes brutal and I'm completely smitten with it.
Overall, this was an absolutely outstanding addition to the series. Grace and Khalil complimented one another nicely and Grace's struggle with both her power and the mundane aspects of her life hooked me hard. I'm in awe of Thea Harrison's storytelling abilities.

This book was really good!
Khalil is an uber powerful alpha male, but he is also really not human at all. He's a force of nature, a Djinn. I love that beyond his first impression he never thinks of Grace as some lowly human. He opens himself to getting to know Grace once he decides to protect her niece and nephew. After observing her his interest is peaked by her fiery personality and power (which he can literally see). They have some funny conversations about how to behave around humans and what is considered socially acceptable. His POV is completely entertaining and just reinforces how different he is from the average human dude. My favorite is his conversation with Rune (the Wyr from the previous novel) about dating and how to dress casually.
Grace is completely down on her luck - her sister and brother-in-law were recently killed in a tragic accident and she is left to care for their two kids and inherits the family Oracular power from her sister. She is struggling physically, emotionally, and financially to keep afloat and provide for her wards. While this all sounds depressing Grace has an amazingly good attitude and sense of humor. She works hard to change her circumstances and is a great match for Khalil. I thought the Oracular power was really interesting - I love how .
Also - the children are actually quite sweet and entertaining in this book without being unrealistic which is always refreshing.

My high school math teacher told me that the words "indeed" and "splendid" were disappearing from the English language. Not if Thea Harrison has anything to say about it! INDEED, this book is the most erotic Elder Races yet! Holy smokes, and I'm not just talking about Kahlil. After the measured pacing of Serpent's Kiss, Ms. Harrison comes back in a rush. This book is charming (hey, how can it not be with two small children in the mix?) and Kahlil is endearing - a fish out of water who falls in love with a human. Grace is sweet and prickly. There are great layers in this book and I found it be a great read.

This book is a fantastic example of a paranormal romance, with emphasis on the romance. I really enjoyed the way Khalil and Grace's characters were developed and how the story unfolded. I like how Harrison is not afraid to make a female character who seems like she might be weak and not very kick ass, but deep inside there lurks a mighty heroine. Grace was that heroine. Awesome.

E finalmente ho conosciuto Kahlil, presentato in maniera irresistibile nel Bacio del Serpente.
Kahlil è un djinn e come tale è poco avezzo all'umanità, alla vita comune e normale degli esseri umani.
Quando decide di prendersi cura dei bambini dell'Oracolo Grace, e quindi anche di lei, la stessa Grace rimane sorpresa. Ma Kahlil, nonostante tutto, è perfetto con i bambini e la sua incapacità di comprendere a pieno le necessità umane diventano fonte di continua ilarità per il lettore.
Con un romanzo basato più sulla quotidianità che sull'azione, in questo caso l'autrice ci accompagna piacevolmente con ironia, sensualità e freschezza senza farci mai annoiare, ma anche non facendoci saltare tanto spesso sulla sedia, quasi una pausa dopo l'azione del primo romanzo della serie, e la malinconia del Bacio del Serpente.
Alla fine un bel romanzo, con due personaggi interessanti e ben sviluppati, scorrevole quanto basta da risultare una lettura piacevole e rilassante.
