Uzbudljivo je danas videti rane radove u seriji stripova "za početnike" legendarnog urednika i kreatora te edicije, Kanađanina Ričarda Epinunezija, i argentinskog crtača Oskara Zarata, koji je kasnije radio i sa Alanom Murom. Iako je Lenjin za početnike pomalo konfuzan i natrpan, i dalje ceo koncept stoji dosta dobro.

U Jugoslaviji je ekipa oko beogradskog SIC-a (Studentski izdavački centar) i zagrebačkog CDD-a (Centar društvenih delatnosti), oba pod okriljem Saveza socijalističke omladine, sa urednicama Gordanom Visković i Žaranom Papić na čelu, prepoznala da je edicija zanimljiva i objavila strip 1980. godine, zajedno sa Frojdom za početnike istih autora (do Lenjina su objavljeni i Marks i Ajnštajn za početnike, drugih autora). Branko Caratan napisao je pogovor sa listom Lenjinovih dela na srpskohrvatskom, kao i odabrane literature o Lenjinu, tako da je jugoslovensko izdanje i dalje odličan uvod u proučavanje misli i dela Vladimira Iljiča Uljanova.

Sam tekst je zaista pretrpan informacijama o Oktobarskoj revoluciji, istoriji Rusije početkom 20. veka, istoriji socijaldemokratskih, radničkih, komunističkih partija, i o Lenjinovom životu, da se u priči gubi nit, preskaču se važni događaji odlazi previše vremenski unapred da bi se potom vratilo suviše unazad... Tako se dolazi u opasnost da i informisan čitalac ne zna šta ga je snašlo, a kamoli početnik.

Ipak, na koncu, reč je o podsticajnom štivu i vrednom starom izdanju koje i dalje ima šarma.

Pretty hagiographical, and a veritable speed-run through Lenin's thoughts and ideas... yet not without its charms. My friends got me this for my birthday a few months back, from a local Oxfam shop, and the illustrations are pretty wholesome. (I.e. An intentionally grotesque caricature of Churchill, smoking a cigar that says "Britain rules, ok?")

Not nearly as fun as the Marx book of the same kind, in my opinion, but still not a bad introduction to Lenin and the build up leading to the Russian Revolution, or as I learned, series of revolutions. I read it because I liked the style of the Marx book, and it did have a similar style, but it's not nearly as well executed. You can follow the narrative of Lenin reasonably well, but the rest really lost me at times. I realize it's a dense subject matter with many moving parts, but they try to introduce far too many characters, terms, and organizations, and then don't bother to expound on them beyond a blurb. It's schizophrenic mess in parts, to be honest. I learned some interesting things about Lenin, but I don't feel like I gained much else from it. Not all bad, but I wouldn't recommend.

مجموعة أقدم لك تتميز بتقديمها للمعلومات بخفة وسهولة، وبتتميز بالسرد المصور فبتبسط المعلومات جدًا وبتمنح القاريء قدرة على التخيل، بسطتلي كتير جدًا، وأرشح للقاريء إنه يشوف وثائقيات بردو عن نفس الفترة، لكن الصعوبة هتكمن ف انفجار المعلومات والأسماء والأحداث أمام القاريء ف هيحس بتوهان وهيحتاج كل شوية يقف يجمع الأفكار والأحداث، ولازم يكون فاهم ف الأيديولوجيات السياسية علشان يكون أكثر ارتباطًا بالأحداث

A decent book in the "for Beginners" series. Two things that bother me the most are 1) the constant attempts to distance Lenin from the supposedly tyrannical USSR that came after and the 2) the way Marxist understanding of historical progress is presented where it seems as if slavery, feudalism and capitalism all rely on same kind of regimes. But different disagreements and gripes with the author shouldn't be taken too harshly because the format of the book is a simplification and because it can still be useful as propaganda if not a serious text. I like how the incompetence of the tsarist regime is described, for instance significant attention is drawn to Russia's dependence on foreign investors, which should make anyone become more critical of the regime regardless of their political leanings. I also like how different factions are given attention, Lenin's rise to power is not presented as simply the socialists going against the monarchists, it was a great deal more complicated than that. This does mean however that the book has more text than most "for Beginners" books which could be seen as a good or a bad thing. Overall it is a book that could cause a lot of praise or a lot of frustration, a book with many flaws and positives, in the end it doesn't really stand out and I would recommend it to someone if they are interested in Lenin, but not if they wouldn't normally read it.

No doubt a sympathetic introduction to Lenin and the Russian Revolution, but I found it valuable in terms of sketching the spectrum of socialist thought at key points of Revolutionary history, and what animated Lenin to change and grow his initial ideas, and later, his policies when in government.

The narrative really focuses on Lenin and his lionish efforts in bringing about and explaining the revolution, and as a result, the human cost of War Communism is minimised. Having said that, there were interesting details about how internal the Russian economy became during the Civil War, due to blockades and international sanctions.

I don't think I could use this for all my high school students, but some sections would be highly beneficial.

This is an comically illustrated book that covers the Russian revolutionary period and how ideas developed with material circumstances in chronological order. As a highly visual learner, I found it clarifying of who these various "characters" were in context. I found it quite gripping to see the events continue to unfold, but as it was nonfiction and about the individual it just kind of ends and leaves you wanting more - which is not necessarily a bad thing in these circumstances.

Excellent. The book sticks to historical facts and avoids interpretation and editorial comment. It's and excellent primer on the history of communism in Russia. Not sure I would call it a beginner's book.

ovo je iz iste edicije kao i marx za početnike (ce), međutim, čini mi se da je marks mnogo bolje odrađen... ovde mi je sve nekako nabacano, ostavlja utisak da se mnogo toga već podrazumeva (što meni nije bio problem jer sam lenjina čitala i pre ali kako je to onda za početnike (ce)?!?) a takođe imam utisak da je i to sve nekako nedovršrno (razumem ograničenja zbog broja strana). u osnovi, kao i za sve ove biografije u stripu koje sam ovih poslednjih dana uglavnom čitala (limundo /kupindo / prodavci kod terazija su "krivi" - ovu sam kupila za 200 din na ulici!), sve je to lepo što se neko toliko potrudio (la) da vizuelno sve pokaže ali imam utisak da autori nisu dovoljno upoznati sa temama, ne znam, kao da ostavljaju sve tako polovično da lebdi u vazduhu... zato od mene za ovog lenjina neke 3 🌟, malo klimave

Buku yang terinspirasi dari "Marx untuk Pemula" oleh Rius. Walau harus diakui, tak seseru itu. Gambar-gambar jenaka nan indah tetap menjadi daya tarik terbesar. Hanya, entah apakah Appignanesi kurang paham atas rute pemikiran lenin atau apa, dia hanya menitikberatkan penyampaian gagasan melalui gambar dan kurang memberi perjelasan lebih rinci ihwal apa yang menjadi ide utama sehingga pembaca masih menangkap materi terlalu mentah.

Lenin, tak lain merupakan sosok yang pertama kali mewujudkan ramalan revolusi Marx. Tapi, Marx memprediksi bahwa revolusi akan dimulai oleh negara eropa maju-yang tengah dalam awan tebal industrialisasi-, dan diawali oleh kebangkitan kesadaran kelas proletar. Sedangkan Lenin yang berasal dari Rusia dengan petani sebagai profesi mayoritas, membuktikan bahwa perjuangan kelas bukan hanya dipelopori para proletariat, tapi semua-mua lapisan yang merasa dalam situasi politik yang tak berkeadilan.

jargon revolusinya yang berbunyi,"Perdamaian, Roti, dan Tanah" menggaung di Revolusi Oktober 1917. Slogan itu memperlihatkan sosok Lenin yang menggali dalam apa yang sebenar-benar cita-cita terbesar rakyat.

Lenin for Beginners is a terrific guide to Lenin, his philosophy, the history of the Russian Revolution, and the preceding Russian revolutionary movement for, well, beginners. It brilliantly puts Lenin in the context of his times and explains his actions, making sure to demonstrate that Lenin was never a mere plotter or power-hungry upstart, but a committed thinker who tried to change the world in a very real way. It's a rousing story of victories and setbacks, of allies and enemies, and for me it accomplished what I'm sure was its main goal: to interest me more in the life and times of Vladimir Lenin.

أخذت شهرة لينين في الانحدار التدريجى إلى أقصى دركات الذبول الحتمى، فبعد أن كان بمثابة الرمز المقدس وبطل أبطال الثورة الروسية الذي كانت تمجده أجيال الشيوعيين في كافة أنحاء العالم أصبح مذموماً مدحوراً باعتباره ذلك الشيطان الذي أرسى قواعد الظغيان والاستبداد الروسي

لم أكن أعلم عن الشيوعية والثورة الروسية الكثير، ربما قد يساعدني هذا الكتاب في سلك تلك الرحلة، وأما لينين مفجر الشيوعية ربما تناول الكتاب سيرة حياته ليس بشكل يدفعك لاستمرار ولكني قد أعتزمت على إكماله، ما أدريه وحسب هو كوني لابد من تناول موضوع روسيا بشكل فعال أكثر

Comparable, I imagine, to Lenin for Dummies (if such a book exists). Am not sure I could get through a more detailed history of Lenin and the Bolshevik revolution with its constant swirl of characters, innumerable plots, internal wrestling matches, and the confusing morass of Marxism’s intellectual underpinnings, so this illustrated bio may be as far as I get into the life and crimes of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov. That said, this is a sympathetic biography and I may be tempted to attempt something more substantive about Lenin if anyone has any great readable suggestions.

مشكلة قرائتي لأي مرحلة تاريخية جديدة مبهرة أني من شدة انفعالي بها أضع تقييم كبير للكتاب الذي عرضها ..
لكن هذا الكتاب بالفعل متميز .. لا أقول انك ستفهم كل شئ من أول مرة .. لكنه سيدخلك في جو الأحداث الثورية الروسية بطريقة لطيفة تعتمد على الرسومات الساذجة التي تحوي الكثير .. و هو أسلوب سردي متميز طبعاً و جديد بالنسبة لي لكتاب بمثل تلك الجدية ..
رائع .. فقط كبداية لفهم خيوط الثورة الروسية والقراءة عنها بصورة موسعة أكبر من هذا فيما بعد ..

It’s fun and such but also I feel as if this is a failed attempt to condense a very important topic in history that deserves to be delved into. Def more interesting if you’ve already fixated on learning about the Bolshevik Revolution, but I don’t see it being a good intro.
