Most of her life, Jasmine has moved around a lot thanks to her dad’s job in the military. At her new school, Jasmine meets Yumi and her group of very rude friends. Jasmine and Yumi hit it off right from the start, becoming really good friends. Jasmine then finds out the Yumi and her friends live together…with no parents. This gives Jasmine hope because if she could just befriend them and allow her to live with them, she wouldn’t have to move around anymore! It’s perfect! Except, Yumi’s friends make it very clear that they don’t want Jasmine around…not even as a friend. But Jasmine is persistent, and her persistence certainly brings out that even worse side of the group. They are mean and rude and they humiliate Jasmine…Jasmine thinks their hostility is due to them being involved in some really bad and shady things…drugs perhaps? Jasmine then decides that Yumi does not need to be around the bad influence of these so called “friends,” and she does everything in her power to try and save Yumi. Only Yumi doesn’t need saving…and what Jasmine thought was drugs, turns out to be something more…supernatural.

I really enjoyed reading this book, I quite liked it. It was very entertaining and fairly mysterious. Plus it was very funny in some parts…I do love a book that can make me laugh like this one did!

However, I wish Jasmine wouldn’t have tortured herself by trying to befriend Yumi’s housemates. They were totally mean and rude and Jasmine had another group of perfectly fine friends who are in her drama class! These friends accepted her into their group without a question and they were genuinely nice! She even had a potential boyfriend in that group! This group I liked. It’s understandable the she didn’t want to move anymore…but she found good friends in this other group! Even though all this went down, I found that Jasmine was a very likable character (most of the time).

Also, I still don’t quite understand what went on in the end… at this concert. Or why Yumi and her friends are here. Perhaps there will be more explanations in the next book?

I didn’t dislike this book, I just found myself wishing more things could’ve been explained. I certainly want to know what happens next, and am looking forward to reading book 2!

I would recommend this book to fans of sci-fi or those who are looking for a quick yet entertaining read.

Cute, charming, unique, different, so many words can describe this story. When I started reading this story I didn’t know what to think about it because it appeared in a smashwords search, and the cover pulled me in. Plus a summary can only so much about the book.
At some points you will be pulling your hair yelling for a couple certain characters to stop being jerks. But that was the character's personality, and she hit them dead on.
Jasmines just the daughter of a traveler, rather she likes it or not she has to move. Jasmine is a strong character who will fight for what she believes is right. It might not be something big, but what she wants she will get one way or another. Then we have Yumi the nice one in her group of “friends”. By the end you’ll hopefully love the two or like them at least. Finally we have Honorio, captain anger pants. Give him a chance and he’ll grow on you. Don’t like him? To bad deal with it. ;)
If you want a cute sci fi story then this one is for you. It’s pretty clean so young audiences can read it. Now go tonder and read the story then spread its story. Now will I read the next one? Yeah. :)

Sabrina's characters are quite delightful. One of the thespian weirdos reminded me of a girl I dated, long ago.

Struggling to fit in someplace new was never a struggle I had to endure until early adulthood, but when I was in school, I helped many a Jasmine get adjusted.

I also used to claim I was from the Andromeda Galaxy...

All in all, I found many situations with which I could identify, which as a Human, I enjoyed reading.

If I had a teenaged to sub-teenaged kid, I would definitely buy this entire series for his/her bookshelf; it's fun, it's clean, and best of all, it is completely devoid of idealism. Great for readers from all creeds, races and other walks of life.

I found myself relating strongly with the main character, Jasmine. Being a child of a single parent, moving around all the time, always the new kid in school, and just wanting fit in somewhere with some stability in you life.

The story moved at nice pace and I stayed enthralled throughout. When I reached the end of the book I was saddened that I don't already own the next book.

Since I'm the author, I think it's absolutely amazing! It's a clean read for anyone young at heart.

Please note, some people received the ARC version of Jasmine which contained errors. The correct version is available through Amazon.com.

Liked the story, but I find tgat Jasmine's character is a bit hard to relate to, I would have whipped up on some the characters in the book that gave her a hard time, but all in all the book was good. I am definately going to read the next one, it was a fun fast read.

Aliens Are Real is a YA novel with a premise that features aliens…but there isn’t a lot of alien detail included. What also doesn’t help that the book is essentially a piece of the other stories that you have to buy to get the whole story. I don’t like this marketing approach, and it feels like an ill-advised strategy to try to market one’s book content to get more viewership and boost the algorithm. I didn’t want to dump on it but the “split novel” approach and the average intro left a bad taste in my mouth.

That being said, I wanted to like this book but this portion of the novel isn’t gripping. The writing is decent and Sabrina Sumsion shows off a great command of the language but what we have here is a run-of-the-mill teen drama where the MC is the new girl at school and has to try to adapt to the environment, while meeting the characters who are alluded to be aliens. The problem is that no one really stands out, not even the alien characters. Not a great intro if you are trying to sell your story in multiple parts, and one that would not compel me to continue. I get that this book is marketed to teens and Sumsion had an opportunity to create an interesting hook, but doesn’t capitalize on it. If there were elements that would hook the reader with clues to the main premise and other events, it would have been forgivable to put up with the “split book” strategy.

What Sumsion should have done was to sell the whole novel in its complete package. That being said, the intro to this novel in pieces is a big turn-off as not a lot of interesting things happen in the story. What is also aggravating is that the more complete book, My BFF Is An Alien, only features parts 1-3 while Part 4 is sold separately.

If you are patient to get through the first book, then Aliens Are Real Part 1 is a harmless teen-based read. Otherwise, I would wait to see if the author releases Parts 1-4 in one volume. Overall, it is a book that suffers from “split novel to buy in multiple installments” syndrome.

Today's review is on Energy Book 1: Jasmine

Jasmine is the first book that I have read form this author, and was a nice change from the other paranormal type books that I usually read.

Jasmine is a 16 year-old girl who's life is in constant flux. Due to her father's top secret job in the military, they move frequently. Because of this, Jasmine has learned to fade in with the background. To not make friends, and keep to herself. That all changes however, when her and her father move to Omaha, Nebraska.

During Art class, Jasmine meets Yumi and has an unexplainable feeling that she has known her before. Yuim too, feels the same. She feels that somehow Jasmine will be the key to "the mission" she and her friends are on. She just has to convince them of that too, but it won't be easy.

It's only when Yumi is sick for a few days does Jasmine find out the truth about this group of friends. Not only are they rude, and mean, they're not even human.

This promises to be an interesting series. My only complaints are that first, Jasmine didn't find out that they were not human until almost the very end, and second, there were a bit more editing mistakes than I would have liked. (Though I don't like to see any in a published work.)
There is definitely room for improvement, and I will be looking for it in book 2.

Ugh. I think I'm outgrowing some YA genres and heroines. I'm thinking that I will start avoiding all protagonists who are under the age of 18.

In this one, Jasmine is 16 and she definitely acts like it. She's reckless and thinks little of her actions and consequences. Honorio (what a name, huh?) is bland and not swoony at all. Such a disappointment.

I liked Yumi but she didn't really bring much to the story. Most of the time she was suffering migraines and being a blue ball. Yes, a blue ball of light.

Malika...sigh. Joseph...double sigh. Tyrone...why?

I'm a masochist though because I will definitely be reading the next one. I keep reading great reviews about it, so I'm hoping it lives up (?) to the hype.

The writing was a tiny bit aggravating at times, but I won't knock the author. It mostly just struck me as odd.

Aliens Aren't Real part one and two by Sabrina Sumsion soon is an amazing story about Jasmine Smith, a teenage military brat who wants to stay in one place for more than one month. She meets Yumi, Honorio, Malika, Tyrone, and Joseph, classmates of hers that seem to have no interest in her what so ever until they learn that her father is Colonel John Smith. She finally feels accepted into the group when she learns shocking but oddly sensible secret.

I give this book a four out of five stars. I love the book cover. In my opinion sci-fi books are very hard to write and sometimes even harder to read but the author did a very good job. I can't wait to read more.
