Reason for Reading: Next in the series.

Just look at that cover!! Sigh!! Makes you think this is the one, doesn't it? But as the publisher's summary tells us Iku just doesn't understand Dojo's feelings for her. However, this is a pivotal book in their relationship because Iku finally learns that Dojo is her prince! Now that's not a spoiler since we already knew this since book 1, but we've had to wait this long for Iku to know so their relationship could change and, wow, now that she knows things are going to be different! As I repeatedly say every time I review this series, I am not a romance fan *but* I am in love with these two. What a relief this volume was and how exciting the story will become as their relationship is stretched out at this new level. Otherwise, plotlines continue, especially the one involving Tezuka's brother. A new storyline is started involving Marie being assaulted in the library by a "pervert" but this story feels kind of forced as if the "team" needed something to be working on and this is the best the author could come up with at short notice. I feel this story will end quickly but the rest of the book is so great I'm not taking any points off for it. Dojo doesn't even call Iku any names!!

This volume finally shows openly who was behind Iku being put into the hot seat in front of an inquiry - Tezuka's older brother who wants to force him to join his group (he thought Iku was Tezuka's girlfriend). We are shown how effectively Tezuka and beautiful, sarcastic and intelligent Shibazaki work together to find evidence for all of this - the blonde guy who had been meeting Shibazaki off and on for a few volumes also worked for Tezuka's brother - and we get a lot more insight into her own view of herself and what she considers her potential for love.

But the piece de resistance at the center of this volume (as if the hilarious front cover didn't already give it away) is Tezuka's brother, realising that Iku is much too direct to give in to blackmail or push his brother to join him, trying to do the most damage he can out of spite and confronting her with the fact that Instructor Dojo is her Prince!

Iku's feelings are not helped by the fact that Instructor Dojo shows up to save her from the restaurant where she was being grilled (figuratively) by Tezuka's brother. There is a hysterical and very in-character consoling scene (because Iku doesn't dare tell Dojo she now knows who he is - she thinks she has hurt him incredibly with holding up her Prince to him before and that he hates her).

He thinks she's reeling from the nefarious machinations of Tezuka's brother, so he sits her down on a bench (because he can't reach her head in high heels) and hugs her to his chest, so she can cry freely. AWWWWWWWWWWWW.

And the last regular chapter had just a small interim plot of Shibazaki and Iku in sexy college clothing helping to catch a pervert molester in the library. Which probably was just included so Dojo could tell Iku how great she looked as bait ^^.

FINALLY! I have been waiting 8 volumes for this and it finally happened! Well... not everything I've been waiting for has happened but one thing did. Let's do a recap, shall we? In the last volume our girl, Iku was going through some hard crap but that resolves in this volume and she learns that Dojo, the guy who she's always fighting with but is always saving her, is her prince. The one that saved her back in the day. The one that made her want to become a part of the library in the first place.

Needless to say, she's not taking it well. She's losing her mind, how could she not see the truth?! All this time... she's even compared Dojo to her prince. Now she's unsure how to move on in their relationship. Does he hate her and that's why he never told her? She feels a little lost inside, even spending all night crying.

I really can't wait to read the next one, this series is finally starting to pick up nicely. I love each character, they are all coming into their own perfectly. The art is getting so good. I love how well the whole team works together. I am loving this story and where it's going. I feel that compared to most shojo manga that this one really does have very fleshed out side characters and I find myself loving when they get the spotlight.

The moment we all have been waiting for has arrived.

All the ships have been introduced to us and to each other. It should be fairly smooth sailing, right? Not in this story. Thanks to the quirkiness of quite a few characters, I don’t think the relationships will be easy.

Finally Iku realizes that Dojo is the prince. Finally!!! It’s taken a little too long and it’s a little too obvious for normal people to have realized. But Iku is the (stereotypical) oblivious anime girl, so I suppose it worked out in the end. Ngl, low-key feeling bad for Dojo. She’s a little intense sometimes.

The elusive volume 8!! Oh, how long I have waited for you! I searched everywhere for scanslations online or downloadable scans....but, to no avail. I looked in the library down South....but, they did not have them. It was nowhere to be found. So, when I came to Spokane, and saw it available, I immediately got onto the hold list....as person #5 on said list. So, anyhow, I was really excited for this volume....where Iku finds out that Dojo is her prince.
Speaking of said plotline, it did not go as I was expecting, but I did enjoy it. For, she is starting to accept him more as he truly is, and less as her "Prince". And, that cover picture is wonderful. They are so compatible.
I also enjoyed the bonus manga stories as well.

It was in this volume that I realized just how much I've come to love this series. At the climax of it all, Kasahara learns the truth about Dojo being her "Prince." (I had already guessed this but it was about time it came out in the open). The dialogue, the sexual tension and frustration, the war against censored books...this volume was very deft and didn't shy away from heavier topics. It really suckered me in--I haven't read any of the previous volumes so fast. And yet, I savored every delightful scene; the carefully drawn faces.

My heart was racing and my cheeks got all flushed whenever there was a cutesy scene. Only the best-of-the-best can give me the fuzzies like these characters did! The romance is truly wonderful, here.

Dojo sometimes reminds me of Kyo from Fruits Basket, and that is a high praise coming from me. I take manga seriously and up until now none have been comparative to my favorite.

This has me squealing like a teenaged girl. This is the volume folks. Iku is out meeting with Hikaru’s brother to discuss ideas on book censorship and his efforts of getting her to join his organization. The only issue is that the entire team knows this is a bad situation and can lead to issues in politics. Dojo isn’t haven’t any of this and goes to Iku to get her out of that situation. He’s worried about her inquiry and wants to make sure he’s ok. After this Iku gets one hell of a realization half way through the book. Loved seeing the effects this brings especially when the team is faced with a new issue at the library. It’s been a little bit since I’ve picked up one of these volumes but absolutely loved it just the same. Definitely going to continue soon now that I know my library has them available in ebook while we what for things to open back up.

Oh man, sooo much drama! And embarrassment on Iku’s part, poor girl… 😂

I’m growing to love Dojo more and more right along with Iku, so it was really hard and hurtful to watch her go through all her conflicting emotions and realizations around him. Though the poor guy really did pay a high price for her emotional high, yikes! So glad that turned out okay. 😬

And Tezuka’s brother remains THE WORST and I seriously hate him for dropping bombshells that are none of his business to drop! I was super worried at first that Iku would be lured into his trap, but she didn’t and I was so relieved! Also, Tezuka and Shibazaki are perfect for each other—I hope they get together by the end of the series. 🥰

Content: mild swearing; a character mentions she feels “buzzed”; a character gets flung into a desk and is knocked out; a molester goes after a girl (it’s not shown and nothing happens aside from a mention of him backing her into a corner and touching her); some suggestive comments; mention of a guy looking at a girl’s legs; a guy stalks and grabs a girl’s arm (nothing happens and she’s rescued)

Did I read this while giggling in delight? Yes I did. There's just so much. EVIL BROTHER. Shibazaki being RECRUITED AS A SPY and also destroying dudes. The suspicious boss is UP TO NO GOOD. Dojo shows up in full dress uniform. Shibazaki goes undercover on a mission!

And side note: I did appreciate that while they're trying to catch a creeper by deliberately dressing as "bait", there's never any hint that Marie (or Shibazaki for that matter) have been doing anything to lure in the people harassing them except existing. Shibazaki has to take constant precautions because people harass her for things entirely outside of her control (the fact that she's pretty), to the point that she's changed how she interacts with the entire world and doesn't trust anyone. And there's no sense at all that she "brought it on herself" or wants it to happen, or any of that nonsense. Which is a low bar to clear, but it's remarkable how often narratives don't clear it.

Oh yes and also there is romance.

I was wondering when and how she is going to find out who the prince is. although I thought of an argument between Dojo and her when Dojo finally lose his temper and tell her everything I enjoyed how she figured it out from that letter.

Reread: I was so excited I couldn't wait to get it from the library so I just read it on mangahere website. I had some difficulties with the translation so when I get my hands on the library's copy I tried to check some important points in it and they were just so different I decided to reread the whole book again. it was worth it.

Still a cute read. She finally realized who her prince is. Its about time, I hope that storyline starts to move better now. It definitely took too long to get there and I can't believe it was a letter that finally made her find out. There wasn't a lot of the library in this volume either just some relationship building between various characters. Still fun but not the best of the series.

IT'S THE VOLUME WHERE THE THING HAPPENS AND I FORGOT HOW MUCH IT HURT IKU

I only vaguely remember a lot of this, so excited to see how this storyline continues, I don't remember the conclusion...

“…She’s just hiding her true feelings. You should know that better than anyone.”

I. Loved. This. Book. SOOOOO MUCH!!!

Definitely one of my favorites in the series and so many feels! Going from me yetlling "Tell it, Shibazaki!" to being literally on edge of my seat with everything surrounding Iku, I just AH! I have a new appreciation for all these amazing characters. The author really knows how to hook and sink her readers and absolutely adore her small drawings at the end/beginning of each chapter. This one was absolutely divine.

Also, I'm so glad she mentioned she was going to bring more romance because there are two characters that sure have A LOT in common and would make a GREAT couple.

I was once again reminded just how amazing Komaki is. Loved loved loved what he told Iku. Him and Dojo are absolutely the best superiors to have.

SHE FINALLY KNOWS!!! And draws the wrong conclusion from it OF COURSE!!

Finally, this is the installment we have all been waiting for, Iku and her Prince, but then she doubts everything. OMG she is killing me. Where is all this insecurity coming from?? But Komaki saves the day, as usual. Gotta love that dude.

So yeah, this installment is definitely my favorite so far in the series. We see major character/relationship changes...Iku/Dojo, Tezuka/Shibazaki, Komaki/Marie and I am loving them all! And of course when it ends I am damn near devastated and now I have to wait until next year for volume 9! ARGH.

And holy crap, the tiny comics at the beginning of each chapter that put Iku and Dojo into the story of Cinderella was freaking ADORABLE!

The library acquired most of the series, so I checked out all the volumes I don't have and started reading it again. Issues of censorship are even more important than the last time I read this series, with the proliferation of fake news and science denial, making Library Wars timely read.

Iku finally discovers the identity of her prince, much to her dismay. Wasn't her prince TALLER? Wasn't he more noble? This poor girl can be so indecisive and clueless when interacting with others, but put her in a dangerous situation and her true strengths emerge. I am curious to see how her relationship will progress with Dojo, now that they both know the truth. I think they make a cute couple, and there's a lot of chemistry better them.

I love this series so very much, and I think volume eight is the best volume of the series so far. It is, without a doubt, absolutely brilliant. But before I start fawning over its every minor and major quality, let me tell you why: it's explosive. It's jammed packed with plotty stuff and emotional drama and Iku/Dojo material galore. Plus, it's a very character-driven book; fans of folks like Shibazaki and Tezuka will not be disappointed.

Shibazakiiiiii. I did not expect to ship her with Tezuka but I am definitely being won over by this turn of events. They're both super competent hard workers! He looks like this most of the time -- •ิ_•ิ -- and she laughs at him! (because he's hilarious omg, what a secret doof) And obviously Iku and Dojo continue being amazing (you're too tall! sit down so I can offer a comforting headpat! xDDDDD i like how he's clearly got a mental toolkit of things to do to make people feel better. help him help you iku! tallness was not accounted for when he developed these strategies!). 4 stars

Mission Short Skirt Long Legs is about to begin! What a crappy way for Kasahara to learn the identity of her prince. I don’t think this is the last we see of Satoshi Tezuka. It was good to see the bonus episode with Marie hanging out with Kasahara and Shibazaki.

FINALLY!

For those who have yet to begin Kiiro Yumi's series, "Library Wars: Love & War", volume 8 is when the penny FINALLY drops for several of our favorite members of the Library Task Force!

I would like to think that when I was experiencing dorm life in college that women like Kasahara, Shibazaki, and Marie would have been my roommates. Their male counter parts would have been equally close friends and allies, and I could see us all having a great time in the school library before heading out to a local late night dive for dinner.

What I enjoyed about this particular volume was how Shibazaki acknowledges that while goals can be identical, the journey there does not have to be. This is the story of my life, and millions of others, and all the more reason to feel reassured that while no two paths are the same: that is okay.

I have made the decision that I will wait to see where the newest mission of the LTF goes, even though the mission is dangerous and ends on a cliffhanger, until I move to Pittsburgh and receive my new library card. While the wait will be tough, the rewards will be worth it!

I had to wait a bit before I was able to read this volume, and had a little trouble remembering what had happened previously, so I think a review page would have been useful, however, over all not a bad volume.
This volume did essentially focus on revealing the identity of Iku's prince, which I think was necessary at this stage in the series.
I am conflicted over the fact that the series seems to be having more of a romantic focus right now, rather than the Library War story. Romance has always been involved with the plot, but I feel it took precedence in this volume.
Hopefully I can finish the series by this weekend.

This book had a 'FINALLY' moment when Iku finally figured out who her prince was. And I guess Tezuka's older brother wasn't villain enough because the Iku-under-fire plotline was abandoned abruptly and there was a random new pervert plotline introduced instead. And of course we have to put Iku in danger by making her bait. Is the series a bit repetitive that way? Yes. But it is still entertaining. And I still don't see why it has a teen + rating.

Content notes: sexual harrassment (assault? it isn't too specific) off-screen, some light swearing
