Prophesies, demon slayers, dragons, homework... It’s going to be a hell of a week!

It’s been a dangerous ride for Nikki Donovan since she first learned she’s a demon princess. And the ride isn't over yet!

She’s just found out that her best friend is a demon slayer in training, one who doesn’t know that Nikki is exactly the prey she’s sworn to hunt. Nikki’s demon king father has signed her up for lessons on how to master her erratic half-demon powers, and that’s on top of her regular homework! Also, she’s torn between two boys - Rhys, the faery king she’s prophesied to marry, and Michael, a Shadow whom she’s forbidden to love.

To top it all off, a dark force is haunting Nikki, something mysterious and evil that wants the demon princess dead...but who - or what - is it?

Thank you to Michelle Rowen for sending me an eARC!
I was dying in agony waiting for the third book in this series. I devoured the whole thing in one day and then I read it again!

Half-Demon Princess Nikki just can't catch a break. Her dragon oracle friend/kind of ex-boyfriend Chris sees a new danger coming for her. Her best friend Melinda is a demon slayer. She hasn't seen Michael, her unofficial boyfriend in two weeks. Rhys the faery king continues to try to make her jealous. Her mom is dating her teacher and her father is still busy ruling the Shadowlands where he can't leave his castle.

Melinda, Nikki's BFF, is a bit depressed trying to avoid her demon slayer training. She definitely has some interesting development in this book and we learn a lot more about her. Nikki's dad, King Desmond, wants Nikki to start practicing with her Darkling powers. A good idea with a possible threat on it's way. I still want to see if Nikki can fly. And of course she has Rhys and Michael after her attention. I love her interactions with these two boys.

Rhys is as charming and arrogant as ever. You can't help but love him. He will be rude yet hilarious one minute, then sweet and vulnerable the next. Nikki continues to fight her feelings for him but it is so obvious she will have to give in eventually. Who wouldn't?! Rhys continues to try to make her jealous by dating Melinda but when Nikki needs something from him he comes up with a fabulous payment plan. A kiss for what she wants. So can Nikki continue to deny her feelings even after that? Oh you must read to see but I think Rhys fans will be pleased! I was hoping for more of him but was so thrilled with every little piece of him I was blessed with.

Michael is having trouble dealing with what happened in the last book and trying to hide it from Nikki. During their training sessions some honest feelings come out. I feel really sad for Michael but then at the same time he kind of bothers me. He also scares me a little bit. I can't say I blame Nikki for some of the second thoughts and caution she has towards him. He is a really complex character and I wish all the best for him, especially with finding someone new because I want Nikki with Rhys. :-)

When the danger comes there is action and surprises just like in the first two. A big cliffhanger leaving me dying to see what happens next. This series is extremely fun, cute, exciting and enjoyable. If you have not picked up the first book yet you should definitely do that! Or you should just pick up all of Michelle Rowen's books because her writing is like Pringles so once you start you can't stop. I can never put the books down. I'm off to read it a third time. I have to hold myself over until the conclusion.

This series just keeps on getting better and better. I am the apsolute biggest fan of Michelle Rowen. Not only are her books unlike all the same old, same old, stuff around at the moment. She writes in such a halirious manner. Although I love both the Faery King and the Shadow Servant, I so want Nikki to choose Rhys!! I have a feeling Michael is going to go evil. That Faery rose Rhys gave to her, how sweet. I love the added drama of psychotic faerys, a demon hunter for a best friend and an ex turning into a Dragon (possibly even an Oracle). These books are so intense and so much happens in 300 pages that I find it impossible to put down. The book took me less than 24 hours to read and if I didnt have children, study commitments and cleaning to do... I would of happily sat down for 4 hours straight and power read it. Im so eagerly awaiting the 4th and final installment. Is it crazy to want Nikkis Mum and Desmond to have a happily ever after and possible get married and have another half demon sibling. LMAO!!! Such a great book, a solid 5 star rating from me :)

Rating: ★★★★☆ I loved it!

Secrets. I was beyond happy when I found out Michelle was going to finish her Demon Princess series and even happier when she asked for reviewers. This has been a favourite YA series of mine since I read the first two books mid last year and I have to say I loved this as much as the others. I liked the way Michelle had mini recaps of the previous books sprinkled through the first couple chapters to bring me up to speed without being annoying about it. A lot of secrets are revealed and those that were previously kept in the dark are now finding out the truth. One of my most waited developments happens near the end but we won't know the consequences of it until book 4.

Rhys. In Reign Check, I wasn't entirely sure who I loved more out of Michael and Rhys until near the end where I leaned towards Rhys. Reign Fall has now got me completely in love with him. Rhys is totally swoon-worthy. He's confident and true to himself but still cares about Nikki and tries to do what he believes is right. Michael was a bit of an ass and rather selfish when it came to Nikki. He's meant to care about her and yet, he doesn't trust her enough to ask for help until it's too late? That's not how a boyfriend should act. It seems it goes both ways though because as much as Nikki tries to deny it, Rhys is getting under her skin (and I hope he stays there).

Stands Tall. Reign Fall has survived the dreaded "filler" cliché of being an in-between book and stands tall on it's own merits. As we discover that the secrets of the shadows may lead to the prophecy about Nikki coming to pass, the final book Reign Storm is going to go off with a bang. Personally, I can't wait to attend the party!

First Lines:

It’s not easy being best friends with a demon slayer.
Not when you have a secret like mine.
In the hall by our lockers, Melinda looked…upset. Seeing her so unhappy made me unhappy. The first day back to school after the winter break was turning out to be worrisome and first class hadn’t even started yet.

Favourite Quote:

Our teacher, Mr. Crane, gave me a questioning look as I slunk in through the door five minutes late, interrupting him in the middle of whatever he’d been saying.
“Nice of you to join us, Ms. Donovan.”
“Happy to be here,” I replied easily, earning a couple laughs from the back row. I wasn’t normally a smartass, but it still came easily to me. (Chapter 2)

First of all, I want to thank the lovely Michelle Rowen for sending me the e-ARC of this book.

I will admit - I had to go back and re-read the first two, because it's just been so long, and with so many other books in between, I was a bit confused about Nikki's story, but once I was finished with those two, I remembered just how great this story is.

Reign Fall continues Nikki, the half-demon princess's story. One of the things that's so great about the Demon Princess books is that while the supernatural is (obviously) a huge part of the plot and story, the problems Nikki faces - psychological problems concerning people around her, troubles accepting our bodies' change during adolescent years, conflicts between friends, etc - are all very much real, even if the spark behind those problems are a little less conventional.
The whole side story with Clara was something I had never, not in a thousand years anticipated, and I loved that. It's always great when an author can take a character and totally surprise you with it.
Nikki herself made me laugh. She gets annoyed almost as quickly as I do, and she deals with it in pretty much the same way as me - venting to any and everyone who happens to be around.
Michael... I can't say I've ever been a big fan of his (I have a huge, gaping, obsolutely ridiculously big weak point for feary kings), but in this book, he just plain-out bothered me. Keeping secrets is never a good thing in a relationship, and he could have at least told Nikki why he refused to kiss her. Instead, he gets all angtsy and jealous and throws a fit, then screws up.
Rhys, on the other hand, was amazing (although, as mentioned above, I'm probably a tad biased here lol). I love his sense of humor and his sarcasm. I love that he hides his true, broken and young self behind this tougher-than-thou facade. He's a very complex character, and I was sad there wasn't as much of him in the book as I wanted there to be.
Melinda surprised me. I never expected her to do the things she did, but I was glad she did them (well, except for one thing, but she did redeem herself later on, so no harm done).

On the whole, a great book. An excellent sequel to the first two which I'm sure Nikki fans will love. Can't wait for Reign Storm; that ending was just mean, and the fourth one promises great things to come!

I CANNOT HANDLE THE WAITING!!!!! I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!!!! I NEED TO KNOW!!!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO afraid that Michael is going to die in the fourth book. I am TERRIFIED of this because he's soooo great. But...I'm now REALLY starting to like Rhys as well...BUT I JUST LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH...Okay...my freak out is over...sort of. WHY WAS THIS BOOK SO GOOD???? Honestly, I think that book two was my FAVVVVVVVVVVOOOOOOORRRRRIIIITTTTEEE BUT this book was DEFINITELY close in being my favorite. I LOVED that there was more Rhys (even though I shouldn't...I can never decide who I want the heroine to love...well...most of the time I can't decide) and you got to know him better (sort of???) andddddd that there was REVELATIONS with her bestie Melinda. I just LOVEEEDDD this book. Too much since the FOURTH ONE ISN'T OUT YET...

This is a great series to follow!

I loved reading this series so much! I've only got time to jot a few words, and then I'm back to my 'official work duties' so, all I can say for now is that this book as well as the previous ones in this series is a definite must read and I'd recommend it to those who've enjoyed Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa or Jenna Black's Faeriewalker series (though this is not faerie kind of novel). Quite frankly, in my opinion, this series ranks higher in my list than those other two I've mentioned (I do love those other two as well). So there. My in depth review to follow.

The third book in the Demon Princess series definitely does not disappoint. Book 1 was okay, Book 2 was good but Book 3 won me over. I realize that the publishing house dropped the series so Ms. Rowen, listening to the enraged (and desperate) cries of her fans, went ahead and self-published this book and you know what? It rocks. It seriously rocks. There are so many things I liked about it so get comfortable as I recount them.

1. Nikki continues to grow as a character and I totally appreciate that. She didn't start off as someone I could like very much but as the series continues, she comes into her own and you can actually map her growth by her responses to certain events. In fact, the major players in the series all seem to be evolving and I really, really like that. I like how faery prince seems to be changing just as much as I like how the Shadow is becoming something (or someone?) different. It's fascinating.

2. The honesty. You know how sometimes you read books and you figure out everything before the characters know it (dramatic irony?) not because it is a secret or something but because they refuse to put it out there (maybe to create tension or suspense, I dunno) but in The Demon Series, people just tell each other stuff and I APPRECIATE THAT SO MUCH. Even the stuff that is not easy to tell. For example, Nikki and her Shadow "boyfriend" (that is in quotes because there seems to be an ambiguity about their relationship). They tell each other stuff that I wouldn't tell my boyfriend, like you, she actually liked kissing Faery Prince (not that I blame her, I mean, the dude is totally hot). And he returns the honesty. It's something refreshing and this earns lots of points with me.

3. The friendship. Okay, so you're a demon (well half, but whose measuring?) and your best friend is a demon slayer. You see how that could get awkward? Yeah but Rowen manages to avoid melodrama and keep it fresh and funny between the girls. I liked the lack of pathos and once again, honesty.

4. Girl Power. There is no damsel in distress trope going on here. Nikki saves herself. More than once. And does it brilliantly.

If you are in the mood for fluff, hot boys and kick ass heroines, give this series a go. You will laugh, swoon and sometimes roll your eyes. It's good as ice cream.

3 for the first half and 5 for the second half...

This is one of those cheesy but oh-so-cute series that you cannot help but love, and this book sure didn't disappoint.

I liked the first half, but it wasn't great. I'm not sure if it's because it's been so long since Book 2 came out (and by the way, I am SO glad Rowen decided to come out with the third book because I remember her saying she wasn't sure if the series was going to continue due to lack of interest). Book 2 kind of left us with an "OMG, I can't wait for the next book," and Book 3 just started pretty much uneventful. I am glad that Rowen gives us a bit of a recap, though not in a way that bores us.

But the second half was awesome. I can't help but love Michael, but GAH he so frustrated me throughout this whole book. And Rhys, there is just something about him that is so alluring. And if boy drama isn't enough, we learn a lot of about best friend Melinda and ex Chris and this new girl Clara.

I'm sad to hear Book 4 will be the last one, but at the same time, I admire authors who knows how to give the perfect ending to a great series instead of dragging it out and ruining the whole experience. I can't wait for the finale, and I hope it's going to be awesome.

*may contain spoilers

I've had the first book of this series for about 4 years now. when I read the first book I thought it was really good, but it wasn't a book that I was like omg I have to get the next book or I'll die. i never thought about reading the next books in the series but yesterday I decided to. I read the 2nd and 3rd book in the series all yesterday and when I realised the 4th book wasn't out yet I did almost died. i am now totally a fan of these books. I especially love this third book! all these twists happen and I don't expect anything and I love that! I mean who would've expected a prophecy saying Nikki and Rhys are going to be married? that Michael would become very dangerous and powerful? Nikki's best friend would be a demon slayer? or that Chris nikkis ex is a dragon Oracle?

okay let's talk about this little love triangle thing that's going on. Michael is a shadow who is the servant to the demon princess Nikki but they really do like each other in a romantic way even though its forbidden. the forbidden bit makes it sad but also exciting to see what they will do about it. in the first book I loved michael I thought he was perfect for Nikki and her to him. but now with everything happening to Michael and Rhys I'm losing interest in Michael and loving rhys.
Rhys wow swoon. I wasn't a big fan of him on the first book when he threatened Nikki, I thought he was some stupid snob faery king but I was very wrong. Rhys I now think is this amazing guy that became king because his parents were murdered. he wants to explore the human world and live in it for a while. he hates Nikki because she's a demon well a half-demon but only becuase he thought it was a demon that murdered his parents but later finds out it was a shadow. Rhys goes to an Oracle dragon to see who he will marry and finds out its Nikki and doesn't like that news. he tells Nikki and she insists it must be wrong which is what Rhys says. Rhys gets to know Nikki better and ends up wanting her but Nikki likes Michael. Rhys and Nikki kiss at a party and then later at the end of this book. they both feel a connection but Nikki won't admit it. Rhys wants Nikki to be with him and not Michael who is now turning dangerous.

I just have to say team Rhys all the way! I really do believe Nikki and Rhys should be together just like the prophecy says.
if you haven't read this book read it now you'll fall in love!

The first book in this series is great, five stars all the way. The second one is even better, so it would totally get 5+ stars. But this one? Holy crap! So good! Loved every second of it. Things are getting more confusing in poor Nikki's head by the second, and it just keeps making everything better (for the readers, at least, poor Nikki). And my total 'shipping of her mom and dad getting back together? I may have been on the right track there. Woohoo! But that cliffhanger? Nononononononononononono!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to read the rest of the story, but I can't, because the author hasn't written it yet! GYAH! But yeah, we keep getting deeper and deeper into the story, and now there's no pulling me out, ever. Read this one mostly in one setting (I read a chapter or so before going to bed the night before, but finished the rest the next day). At this point, I might have to just keep rereading the three that are out until she brings out the fourth one. Seriously guys, if you like YA books that are quirky and romance-y and drama-y (in a good way, I assure you), and very fantastical, this series is perfect for you. And no, I am not being paid in any way to say this, I just love the damn series that freaking much. So much love for this book and this series. But gyah! Cliffhanger! I reeeeeally hope the fourth one comes out soon.

Woo! What a book!!! Evil faeries, semi-crazy hot guy that might be a dragon, demon-slaying best friends, energy consuming maybe boyfriend, prophecies galore, what more could you ask for?

This series is getting really good! I am loving the different characters, and finding out where they come from. Human world, demon world, exciting stuff.

It makes me sad to see how Michael is changing after the last battle, but I think it's for the better. Nikki will save him from a horrible fate, and change Shadowland forever. =] Seriously, those ancient rules need to go.

The ending was just amazing! My brain is still trying to recover from all of the awesome! I am so geeked that her mom is finally getting clued in on what's going on. Susan + King Desmond <3

I can not wait to read the final book. I have a feeling it's going to be even more exciting than this one.

If you love Demon Princess series, do like the official Demon Princess Series Facebook page for the latest updates on Demon Princess Series from Michelle Rowen!

Demon Princess series is the series I would recommend if you are in looking for fluffy, light-hearted and enjoyable read if you love romance with all things paranormal and supernatural.

I was so worried when the publishing house dropped Demon Princess series and I wouldn't be able to find out what happened after Reign Check ever.

Thankfully Michelle Rowen took things into her own hands and decided to self publish Reign Fall and also Reign Storm which she has yet to write. I'm so grateful I will be able to continue finding out what will happen next and how it will ends.

Reign Fall is surprisingly easy to get into. It has been around 2 years or so I believe since I had read Reign Check but Reign Fall is easy to get into. There's recap done and perhaps due to the characters having made a deep impression on me, I had no trouble figuring out where I had left off.

Finishing Reign Fall was tad bittersweet. Nikki Donovan, Michael, Rhys and many other characters have grown on me and it's sad to know Reign Storm will be the last book. However, I'm still looking forward to Reign Storm just to see how everything ties up. Will the prophecies come true?

Like I said before, I love female protagonists who know how to stand up for herselves and Nikki Donovan is no exception. Being half demon, half human, otherwise known as a Darkling and is also a demon princess nonetheless, stands up for herself many times in the face of danger. In my opinion, she fared pretty well considering she didn't receive proper training and didn't even know she is a Darkling until her 16th birthday back in Reign or Shine.

Nikki Donovan never fails not to be in danger. It's not her fault. She is after all a Darkling, child between a human and a demon, which is extremely rare. Think not seen for thousand years kind of rare for the council is against relationships between demons and humans for Darklings are said to be much powerful and stronger than average demon.

This time round, Nikki Donovan received a prophecy from her old crush Chris who is seeing more visions that "something mysterious and evil that wants the demon princess dead" and she had a nightmare where .

Before I go on, I have to get this off my chest first.

Nikki

Moving on.

Michael, as a Shadow, is quite a bit of mystery. Nobody in the books actually know much about what Shadows are and thankfully, Reign Fall revealed why this is so. Nicely planned I must say.

Rhys...I think lots of people are shipping Rhys with his ability to annoy the hell out of a demon princess nonetheless Nikki but he certainly has much more quirky lines compared to Michael. Alas, why must he always refer to Michael as the "lowly servant"? I get it you are a king and all but do you really have to do that? =.=

Chris...we get to know what he is! Chris will be acting a bit crazy in this novel and thus losing his hotness as said by the girls in the high school with him. Nikki takes pity on him even though for what he had tried to rape Nikki back in Reign or Shine. I do pity with him a little too...and

Having a demon slayer as a best friend spells trouble for a half demon like Nikki but the final revelation and confrontation was done nicely and strongly based on the trust, honesty and friendship they had. That's one of the reasons why this series is such an easy read. It's out in the open.

Nikki's mother is forever trying to find the perfect man like the male heroes in romance novels she writes but failing every single time. With Reign Storm being the last book, I'm hoping some form of reunion will be possible between Nikki's father and mother, especially when they clearly are still in love with each other and .

Reign Fall has fulfilled my thirst for Demon Princess series for now. With Michelle Rowen not having started writing Reign Storm yet, I reckon it will be a long wait till its release. Hopefully, it will unveil everything and tie it up nicely.

Favorite Quote: “Oh, go point that thing somewhere else, you idiot!”

In Reign Check, the second book, Nikki took a field trip to Hell and almost dies…only to be saved by her crush, Michael. Reign Fall picks up three weeks later. Nikki hasn’t seen Michael in all that time so when she is summoned to her father’s castle, she prepares to give him an earful. When she arrives, she meets a young boy who speaks to her in riddles, hinting at secrets that only she can reveal and solve. Nikki senses something is different with Michael and her father confirms it. Michael asks Nikki for a favor which results in Nikki having to negotiate with Rhys. Rhys is now dating her BFF Melinda but keeps making references to their getting married to fulfill the prophesy. Nikki is honest that she is on the fence with Michael and Rhys. Each of them different and appealing in their own way, I don’t envy Nikki having to choose. As Nikki tries to help Michael and avoid Rhys, something stalks her in the night, eager to end Nikki’s problems once and for all.

Michelle Rowen’s Reign Fall is the third book in her light hearted fantasy YA series that centers around a sixteen year old girl who just found out she is a half demon princess. It has a soap opera feel to it that is cute and engaging as you follow Nikki from one adventure to another. A normal sixteen year old, Nikki balances high school and learning about her demon heritage with plenty of humor and snark. The story line is steady with witty dialogue and personable characters though certain scenes dragged while others seemed rushed.

Ms. Rowen does a nice job of bringing you up to speed from Reign Check to here in the first few chapters. While there is a fourth and final book that will wrap this whole series up, I enjoyed that this book is as viable as the last two. Often a four series trilogy or would you call this a quad-ilogy? Hmmm? Anyway, there will usually be one book that is nothing more then a filler. We don’t get that in here. Ms. Rowen moves through this story with purpose as she begins to wrap up loose ends and answer important questions to prepare us for the end.

I did hope to see Nikki mature more then she did. She acted much younger at times. I also didn’t like what she did to Michael. I realize this series actually takes place in a relatively short time but Nikki’s avoidance of conflict continues to annoy at times. Her scene with Michael left a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t want to expand upon it for fear of spoiling but honestly, I wanted to smack her for that.

The ending is solid, wrapping up the main conflict nicely while leaving us with some raised eyebrows as new sub plots are opened and previously marked upon avenues are expanded upon. I look forward to book four and seeing how Ms. Rowen wraps this up.

This is the third book in the Demon Princess series; the 4th book, Reign Storm, is supposed to be out later this year and is the final book in this series. I really enjoy this series; the books are easy to read and lots of fun. I love watching Nikki as she tries to balance her life as a student and as a demon princess.

Nikki is trying to recover from the events of the last book and her trip to Hell. Michael, Nikki's shadow boyfriend, is having some strange after-effects from absorbing the other shadow, Jarvis, who threatened Nikki's life in book 2. Nikki loves Michael but something is wrong with him and he seems to be a danger not only to himself but also Nikki. Can Rhys lend a helping hand and help Nikki figure out the mystery behind the Shadow's problems?

These books are a lot of fun and have wonderful characters. I will admit that this book was more drama than the previous books and not nearly as much action. I am more of an action person, but I do love these characters so I was okay with reading the drama too. Watching Nikki try and deal with her demon-slaying best friend was a hoot and there are some interesting things that happen in this book on that front.

Rhys is actually in the story a lot more than Michael and it was fun to watch him and Nikki interact. We get to see a side of Rhys that we haven't seen in previous book and watch as he matures into a more responsible Fairy King.

Michael's character is much darker in this book; he is dealing with some heavy repercussions from the events in book 2. His need for secrecy is driving Nikki and him apart. He does spend some time training Nikki to use her demon powers and it was fun to watch Nikki explore her power and get better at controlling it.

We also get to meet part of Nikki's dad's castle and that was pretty cool. Yes, I did say meet the castle...in person...kind of.

The story ends on a pretty big cliffhanger and I am dying to know what will happen to Michael and the Shadowlands.

Overall a solid addition to the series. I really enjoy this series; I loved the characters and find that it is just a wonderfully easy and fun read. I am so happy that Rowen decided to complete it. I absolutely cannot wait to see how things turn out in the final book, Reign Storm. These aren't heavy books or incredilby creative books; but they are really well written, lots of fun, and full of great characters. If you love YA paranormal reads I highly recommend this series.

A crazy prophecy claiming she is to marry the faerie king Rhys, a forbidden love with the yummy Shadow Michael, her BFF is a demon slayer, and Nikki still doesn't have a complete hold on her Darkling powers. To top it all off, a new prophecy says that there is something dark out to get Nikki... something that wants her dead. Nikki has more on her plate than your average teenage girl. But then again, she isn't normal. She is a Demon Princess after all.

And then there's Michael, after killing the Shadow and saving Nikki in the Underworld, Michael has been acting kind of strange lately. It is said that Shadows have more power than imaginable and that they are way dangerous. Nikki doesn't know what to think about this, I mean, he is just the sweetest thing ever! I did, however, have my own doubts. I was just so worried about Michael! And so was Nikki! And then the end of the book... *sobs* Oh my gods, what happened to Michael?! I need to know!

And Rhys? UGH! Love triangles are the WORST! I guess I don't absolutely hate him, I just hate the idea of the love triangle. By the end of this book I actually sort of liked him... but I do prefer me some Michael ;)

One character that surprised me was Chris. As much as I hated him in the previous books, I actually felt kind of sorry for him in this one. He's acting all withdrawn and has this crazy aura about him. I felt so bad for him! But what he can do is so amazing and very surprising!

And Nikki's BFF Melinda, oh boy! Thing's are very strained between them. Nikki knows Melinda's deep dark secret and Nikki is horrified at the thought of Melinda finding out what she is. And without giving too much away, all I'm saying is, she should've told Melinda the truth in the first place!

The showdown at the end was amazing! But the "dark force" that is after Nikki... yeah, I was not surprised. It was pretty obvious, actually. That's the one thing about this book I am not liking: the fact that it is so predictable! But not everything is predictable. There are a couple of things that shocked me, so it's not all bad.

As I said before, I absolutely love this world, and I cannot wait to see how things will turn out... especially for Michael because oh my gods! Cliffhanger! I need the next book, like, now!

Prophesies, demon slayers, dragons, homework… It’s going to be a hell of a week!

It’s been a dangerous ride for Nikki Donovan since she first learned she’s a demon princess. And the ride isn’t over yet!

She’s just found out that her best friend is a demon slayer in training, one who doesn’t know that Nikki is exactly the prey she’s sworn to hunt. Nikki’s demon king father has signed her up for lessons in how to master her erratic half-demon powers, and that’s on top of her regular homework! Also, she’s torn between two boys—Rhys, the faery king she’s prophesied to marry, and Michael, a Shadow whom she’s forbidden to love.

To top it all off, a dark force is haunting Nikki, something mysterious and evil that wants the demon princess dead…but who—or what—is it?

In Reign Fall, we find Nikki dealing with her growing feelings for both Michael and Rhys. Most of all, her double life as a typical teenage girl and a demon princess is taking its toll on her relationships with friends and family, not to mention her sanity. To top it off, there are dragons, faeries and demon slayers abound.

Reign Fall is escapism at its best. Nikki and Rhys are so much fun with their sarcasm and silly arguments. I love sarcastic and witty heroines, plus at book 3, she still reminds me a little of a young Stephanie Plum. I could not be happier that Michelle Rowen decided to finish the series by self-publishing (something I wish more authors would do when publishers decline to finish a series), despite the fact that the ending of the book is killing me! Please support Michelle Rowen in this endeavor and get yourself a great read in the bargain.

Reign Fall is available via Kindle and Smashwords. The final book, Reign Storm, will be out in 2013. Check out our interview with the talented Michelle Rowen!

My Thoughts: Wow. I read the first two in this series a while ago, and I didn’t even know there was a third one out until I stumbled upon it one day.

We are back in the world of Nikki Donovan who is a Demon Princess! If you recall, Nikki has dealt with a lot. From prophecies to her love life, things have been hectic. And she also has to keep it a secret from her bestie that she’s a demon princess. Heck, her mom doesn’t even know!

In this one, Nikki learns more about who she is and what she is supposed to do and is capable of. She also has two love interests. First there was Michael, a shadow from her dad’s world. I still really like Michael even if he is dealing with a lot of stuff. Than, there is Rhys. Rhys is the faery king she’s prophesied to marry. WOW. I still really love both boys. I crave scenes with them both. It’s so hard to choose! Michael, there is always a pull towards him and than Rhy’s. He’s so funny and charming.

Man, Nikki deals with a lot in this one. She has to deal with her best friend becoming a demon slayer and then trying to keep her mom out of the loop.

WOW. Just Wow !

Overall: I had a hard time getting into this one. I laughed at the beginning but it took me a while to get through the first half of the book. But boy once I was hooked, I devoured that second part of the book. And it left me wanting the next book in the series and it doesn’t have a release date yet. I need to know what happens! WOW. I just need to know!!!! I really enjoyed this series so much and they keep getting better and better!

Cover: Love it! Love all these!

What I’d Give It: 4/5 Cupcakes

Beware of spoilers

The third installment in the series does not disappoint. It could be a stand-alone book; there’s so much background detail. I liked having the refresher.

Nikki has matured a great deal but in some ways she is still very childish. She takes pleasure in deliberately annoying her father. I can’t blame her for acting out, her entire life changed in an instant.

Poor Melinda. She got the shock of her life in this book. Her reactions are comical.

In Reign Fall you begin to feel the toll it’s taking on Nikki. It’s a heavy burden keeping secrets. She’s definitely feeling the pain of living 2 lives. She rarely sees Michael and her feelings for Rhys confuse her. At one point, Nikki’s mom over-hears Nikki and Rhys talking. She wants to know what’s going on and Nikki asks her to trust her for a little while longer. I hope Nikki can be honest with her mom soon. Nikki needs her mom – she’s going through difficult and serious issues and she should have her mom to help.

The plot is layered with multiple storylines going on. Eventually they all come together. Nikki ends up with information that she must act on- As always she faces it with bravery. She knows what she has to do. She may have a chance to break the curse on the Shadows.

I see some huge choices ahead for Nikki. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
