Erotic BDSM Steampunk

Raised from childhood as an assassin, Claire finds her world knocked off kilter when Theo Kevonis, a rich, ex-Air Corp nobleman, rescues her from an airship crash. Being a soldier of a hostile nation she cannot reveal her identity, but Theo sinks his steely Dom fingers into her heart and soul, showing her the pleasures to be found in surrendering to his touch. Captivated, Claire cannot help but bind herself in lie after lie rather than risk losing the one man who's ever loved her.

When her loathsome commander returns from the dead, her deceit is uncovered. Somehow, Claire must find a way to win back Theo's trust and destroy the man who threatens them both.

3.5 STARS!
"I don't ever want to leave you."
It was good! Quality smut with lots of kinky goodness. :D
She adored him when he threatened and blackmailed.
I can't round up though, because I couldn't get behind the premise. I didn't think Claire was in a position to give consent . . . and I don't like my dub con presented to me as consensual (if that makes sense, lol).

Happy reading my dirty friends!

4 'kinky steampunk' stars

This was my first book by Cari Silverwood and it definitely won't be my last. The story is set in a steampunk world which I liked very much. I only wish that certain things would be more explained. Specifically, frankenstructs. I get that the book is first erotica and second steampunk but since I love steampunkish elements, I wanted that side of the story in more detail.

Both MCs were very likable. Claire is a frankenstruck and failed assassin and Theo is ex-military/ business man or sth like that. The beginning of their relationship is not exactly sunshine and roses but when they got to know each other more intimately, sparks fly like crazy. Claire starts to explore her submissive side and I can say that it is a very sensual and erotic exploration.

She had the power to stop him. Yet, all she wanted to do was to wait, quivering, for his next move.

This is Cari Silverwood style of Steampunk kinky, erotic romance with promising unlimited supply of sexual tension. I'm still learning more about the steampunk genre, I felt this book didn't totally have mechanical objects but there were gadgets. Needless to say this book still can be labelled steampunk.

Claire is a Frankenstruct, trained as an assasin working on the bad side. A Frankenstruct is not considered human, after their uses they are destroyed. Whoever wants to keep a Frankenstruct must pay fine. Claire may be considered an object but inside she craves love and attention and most importantly she wants to be free. On her latest assignment Claire has been instructed by her master, Inkline to murder a powerful politician when the aircraft she was travelling breaks down. She now being one of the six survivors is taken into custody. Her captor has no intention of letting her go. He begins to stir feelings in her and brings her hope. But a secret threatens to destroy her happy baubble.

Theo is a respected and powerful captain. When an aircraft is wrecked in his area he finds a Frankenstruct, Claire, to whom he is instantly attracted. Theo thought her to be a plesure-slave but she surprises her with outstanding maneuver and then questions her purpose. After interrogating her, he askes her permission to court her and that she doesn't have to be his prisoner. Despite the laws that hold Frankenstruct as objects Theo works to repel the law. He is surprised by how emotionally and physically he is attached to Claire.

The story setting felt like in a much forward mordern world. We get to see few additional devices. The story is focused mainly on Theo and Claire. There are lots of BDSM scenes. Claire is sweet and innocent, at the same time fierce an strong. She was on a mission which she never intends to fulfil. Feeling herself cherished and being taken care of she feels guilty for holding the truth from Theo. As she falls in love, she holds her secrets a little bit longer. Theo on the other hand is a thorough Dom. He is so protective and caring.

This book is perfectly balanced in everyway. Recommending this if you enjoy erotic steampunk romance.

Thank you Louise for recommending this series, I love this first book so much! 💗

About a year ago I discovered the steampunk genre and it's such a fun idea. Now in her own inimitable style Ms Silverwood takes the idea and just runs with it! Not just a world featuring almost Victorian ideals, mixed with unusual mechanical objects but a romance with BDSM elements and of course a really solid story.
Imagine if you will being created from cloned body parts and then treated as if you really do not matter. Not considered human but known as a Frankenstruct and little more than an object . Our heroine Claire is a Frankenstruct and she has been raised as an assasin but inside is a woman aching to express herself and be free.
Theo is by nature what many would consider to be a Dom. Through hard work he has risen to power and is highly respected . When an enemy airship crashes near his home amongst the wreckage he finds an enticing young woman but she's not quite what she seems. Now Theo wants nothing more than to discover all of her secrets. Unfortunately Frankenstructs are illegal but Theo sees the woman within the skin and knows in his heart that Claire is human. What he doesn't realise though is it's quite likely that he is Claire's intended target ! As their relationship develops it takes them both to their own nirvana but for Claire keeping her secret is purgatory !
I will be honest and say that this is not the usual heavy steampunk type of story. Yes there are unusual devises and what could be described as quite erotic ones as well but this story mainly concentrates on the budding romance between Claire and Theo. No mechanical limbs here or augmentation but instead Frankenstucts biologically engineered with amazing abilities but the way they are treated is vile. As for the sexual content well Theo does enjoy exerting control both within and indeed outside the bedroom but it never felt forced or abusive. Claire is learning to finally live and relishes the lessons from her new lover as she explores her own submissive side. There are a lot of sexy scenes but I felt the BDSM was quite mild although the equipment and locations were highly inventive! I loved the supporting characters and sincerely hope the author revisits this world as there's a certain Dankyo who is very intruiging

The Romance Review

I can't imagine how it would be to be treated as an object. Slavery is one thing, but to be treated as an object with no rights due to cloning, this is a horror I can't begin to want to experience.

Claire is a patchwork clone known as a Frankenstruct. She and her other Frankenstruct team look human and have feelings, yet are treated worse than animals. This is because they are designed as perfect weapons, created as super soldiers.

The premise of this story is a fresh view at cloning and what it could mean as far as human ethics is concerned. This could be rather dull and more a social political commentary. Fortunately, this story is much more – intrigue, steampunk, D/s, sexy scenes and romance. This story contains it all.

In Claire's world, it doesn't look good for her kind. Frankenstructs are to be destroyed on sight by enemy forces. From her creators' view, she's the perfect sex bomb assassin. Claire knows her mission and will complete it, until she is found by Theo, a Colonel in the military forces opposing her creators.

Instead of being killed upon discovery, Theo uses her to push his own agenda regarding Franenstructs rights in his country. What he doesn't expect is to be emotionally and physically ensnared by Claire. Once he is determined to woo Claire, he goes after her in a hot alpha manner which made me want to submit.

Claire is much harder to convince than me. Her past experiences make her wary and difficult to win over. She also hides a secret that could bring her steamy romance to a dead halt. In the end, will her sacrifice overcome the betrayals she commits? This is for Theo to decide. I recommend Theo take a strap to Claire's resilient derrière. Punish her!

This world Ms. Silverwood creates is fantastic. I enjoyed every little steampunk device she used in the story. Some steampunk fantasy stories are more romance with a couple of add on steam devices. Those stories leave me feeling misled and dissatisfied. In contrast, IRON DOMINANCE is a steampunk story within a fully completed steampunk world. The steampunk technology permeates through the daily lives of the characters. This is especially attractive for me. I could visualize all these cool devices and machinery. The clothing was particularly sexy. Ms. Silverwood did an excellent job of balancing the steampunk devices so it didn't overwhelm the main storyline.

The main storyline I really enjoyed, which is basically a man, Theo, wooing a woman, Claire. The characters were engaging and felt real because they weren't perfect. Their fears made their actions and choices believable. The conflict in the story was well laid out and resolved in a logical manner which was rather painful to watch. I felt quite badly for Claire. I also felt sorrow for Theo. I will say the ending was to my satisfaction. I want to see another book in this world. In the next one, I'm hoping for more BDSM elements.

I recommend this book to steampunk lovers who enjoy a bit of BDSM and hot sex scenes. If you crave "take no prisoner" female assassins, this book will fulfill your need.

I'm not happy with Cari Silverwood, I had great plans for my Sunday but started reading this last night and had to get straight back to it this morning. All plans for the day went out the window until the book was finished! This book was just an amazing mix of kink, adventure, love, steampunk and angst that had me gripped from start to finish. It is a richly woven tapestry of exciting story, fantastic characters and super hot BDSM scenes.

Claire is a frankenstruct - a living being made from an amalgamation of cloned body parts. This made her different, an outcast, not quite human, a thing not a being. As a result Claire was used to not really being accepted or given consideration, still she yearned to have her thoughts and feelings acknowledged.

Circumstances lead to her being taken into the household of Theo Kevonis. Claire has been raised to be strong and unyielding, yet somehow Theo brings out the submissive in her, introducing Claire to a world of pleasure she never knew existed.

Theo doesn't see a frankenstruct, just a beautiful young woman whom he hopes to get to know better. Claire's longing for acceptance brought me to tears more than once, including the quote below

"I could never think of you as a thing. You're you. A human being. Why?"

"Because..."Her voice cracked. "Because, if you make me a person, I swear to you, on anything you like, that you can trust me to the ends of the earth."

I loved seeing the power exchange between Theo and Claire, the pushing of boundaries and the building of a relationship. However Claire is keeping a secret from Theo, which you know can only have dire consequences.

The consequences of the secrets, the edge-of-your-seat action that happens and the resulting fallout had me reading as quickly as possible. Whilst you could see one strand of the story unfolding towards the 'big showdown' there were so many others that you couldn't predict. Nor did I have any inkling of how the problems would be resolved. Needless to say it was done in an action packed way with a dollop more angst, Claire showing just how strong and determined a character she is and plenty more heat.

If you love non-contemporary (is that a word? It is now!) BDSM reads then you'll love this. Put it on your e-reader now!

I first came across Iron Dominance on a Twitter channel I am following. I had not heard of Cari Silverwood before, so I proceeded to look her up on the ætherweb. What I found explained why I had not heard of her: Ms. Silverwood specializes in erotic fiction, a genre I tend not to read and I have mixed experiences with the books I have read and reviewed here.

Still, the story sounded intriguing enough and the BDSM theme promised a different flavour to what I had read thus far. It was also highly recommended as a highlight of steampunk erotic fiction by some credible sources, so I decided to give it a go.

I start with the one thing I found disappointing: Iron Dominance is not Steampunk. Granted, the female protagonist, Claire, is a biological construct and the male protagonist, Theo, is the captain of an airship. At one point it is made very clear they wear brassgoggles while the two fly an ornithopter together. There is also a galvanic healing device.

All this is rather superficial, I think. They stand alone. Except for those obvious and rather flashy steampunk elements, there is nothing. I had expected to see some automatons working on Theo’s vast estate, or some devices being employed in cleaning the manor or in the kitchen. Ms. Silverwood has simply taken Steampunk elements and painted her BDSM tale with it. It is science-fantasy, but not steampunk.

This, as I said is the one, and only, thing I did not like. Apart from this single disappointment, Iron Dominance is an excellent read. The book is a page-turner, and it actually has a real story. Some of the erotic literature I have read before were just a number of scenes involving the human procreational act, linked by laughable empty stretches of what should pass as a storyline. Not here. For one thing, every single character introduced is real and, except for the obvious single villain, likable. Some of the characters, such as June, are a bit off-the-shelf, but they all fit in rather neatly. The chemistry between Claire and Theo becomes clear quite early and you actually want to cheer them on to finally get together.

The development of their relationship also is natural, nothing is rushed. The story does not force the first sex-scene, when it happens, it is what it should be.

This brings me to the next bit: The erotic content. I will refrain from using explicit language, but Ms. Silverwood has a way with words there. Her descriptions are red-hot, steaming and very effective without ever being crude. Enough said, I suggest you find out the rest yourselves.

Apart from the erotic content, Iron Dominance offers intrigue, deception, friendship, suspense, character development and a few interesting stories along the way which offer material for sequels or other tales set in the same world. Dankyo and Kirsten come to mind…

When you leave the BDSM elements out, you are still left with a beautiful romantic tale, a modern and slightly weird version of Cinderella.

So, Iron Dominance is an excellent erotic novel of the more intense kind. Very well written, very enjoyable and even without the erotic content, it would still be a beautiful science-fantasy romance.

Claire is a Frankenstruct, a being that’s made up of cloned parts. A law has been passed that declares that Frankenstruct’s aren’t humans therefore have no rights. They can be treated as slaves, abused or simply made to the jobs which humans would say no to. Claire is forced to be the evil lieutenant Inkline’s master assassin. Her latest assignment is to murder an influential powerful politician, but an aircraft disaster en route means that the plan is stopped. A sole survivor amongst the wreckage she is taken into custody as a Rogue Frankenstruct. Her captor has no intentions of killing her for what she is, but if he found out what she did, his attitude could change.

Theo Kevonis cannot believe that the beautiful creature that he has pulled out of the crash is a Frankenstruct. He has never felt at ease with the sub-human way they are treated, but this one stirs things in him that he can’t quite explain. He has no choice but to take her into custody, but this doesn’t mean that she has to be treated like a prisoner. After interrogating her about her purpose on an enemy aircraft, he asks permission to court her.

Not able to deny the attraction that she feels towards his commanding presence, she willingly agrees. Still a prisoner, but less of an unwilling one, Claire embarks on a journey of love and lust at the tutelage of the lovely Theo. He shows her the pleasure in surrender, the ecstasy in his control and how it feels to be treated as an equal. She cannot help but fall in love with him, but when her evil master seemingly arises from the dead, will she finally tell him the truth about who she is and save him? Or will she protect the innocent image that he has of her, in a bid to keep him close, and risk his safety?

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I apologise if I gush, I’ve just never read anything quite like this book. It was steam-punk, alternative reality bondage at its best and I adored every second of it. Claire was the kind of strong woman that I love in BDSM books; she was a strong, independent woman who chose to give over her surrender to Theo. She didn’t need it, but it felt good when she did. Never being taken care of and having a life filled with persecution and hardship has taken its toll and he makes her feel cherished. She doesn’t tell him her true purpose at the start of the book as she feels it will get her executed for being a traitor and then she can’t tell him because she starts to fall in love with him. I screamed at the pages a few times because, the longer she held off explaining her past, the more damage her confession would do. His love for her was so pure (in a kinky way :D) that I couldn’t bear to see her break him. She is so protective over the people that show her any affection that my heart broke a little for her; she was mistreated so much in her past that any person who showed her any small kindness was grabbed hold of with both hands. I loved that she was this bundle of vulnerabilities encased in steel and I couldn’t wait to see how Theo would deal with her.

Theo is an amazing character. Not only is he a truly lovely man who is compassionate and protective, he is a really hot Dom. I got the feeling that he was a Dom through and through, but only got to play at the role sexually and was never allowed to fully embrace it. The excitement and gusto that he embraced Claire’s acceptance of his sexual needs was so cute (I know, not a word to be used with a Dom). He immediately starts buying her gifts, some of which made me drool. There is a fetish corset that is mentioned that I *need* to own, but it seems to come straight of the mind of Cari Silverwood. He wants to spoil her, he wants her to feel loved but in the back of his mind is the knowledge that she is still lying to him. I admired him because he was willing to try to coax her truths out her; he believed enough in himself, and her, to think that they were nothing that would affect their relationship. He is such a powerful man that he made me quiver a bit; I couldn’t imagine anyone saying no to him. He also a severely kinky imagination that exists only in the imagination of literary Dom characters; I want a naked, bondage picnic! And the scene with the St Andrews Cross facing the clouds was one of the most erotic scenes I’ve ever read; serious pulse racing and hot flashes were a result of that particular flash of genius! I knew he would be finding out her secret, I just hoped that he was man enough to work past it!

With sex scenes that will make your palms sweat and your pulse race, this is a book that will make any BDSM fan happy. With a seriously sexy Dom, with a very vivid imagination and an unlimited supply of fetish wear, and a female with no qualms about her sexuality, this is a book that will make you hot. With an undercurrent of suspense that kept the pages turning, this book checked all my boxes and made this a recommended must read!

My goggles are officially fogged! The Steampunk construct, described by Ms. Silverwood in rich detail, turns out to be the perfect setting for a BDSM story - clever “voltaic” devices, sinisterly creative clothing and enough gears and pulleys to result in a wonderfully hot suspension scene. In addition to the well-realized physical setting, this story of submission is enhanced by the complexity of Claire, a cloned “Frankenstruct” who feels drawn to the D/s relationship offered by Theo, but has no basis of comparison for sexual interactions, other than what was forced on her during her abusive training as an assassin.

Theo, now added to my list of all-time favorite Doms, exudes authority, power and a clear sense of purpose from his introduction, but combines it with patience and a sense of humor that makes him irresistible. Trust issues, an underlying theme of BDSM fiction, are portrayed here in a multi-layered manner that does not disappoint and I’m really hoping that Dankyo has a book of his own in the future.

The sex scenes are never repetitive, build in intensity and create an exquisite sexual tension that places this book on my very exclusive “wet panties” shelf.

I was really excited to start this story. Steampunk, BDSM, romance and a frankenstruck – how awesome! Unfortunately it didn't quite work for me.

Both Claire and Theo seemed very shallow characters. I couldn’t really figure out why they fell in ‘love’ with each other as they never really seemed to talk. Claire spent a lot of time in her head thinking about her deception and worrying over her reaction to Theo. Theo’s actions didn’t help endear him to me. He has this woman, who can’t leave without worrying about being executed – in fact, Theo won’t let her leave – and I felt like he took advantage of his position with Claire. To be fair, he did continuously give her the option to back out of their sexual encounters, but he was still in the position of far superior power and Claire had never experienced anyone giving her a choice before.

Like the romantic growth, the world wasn’t very developed either. We were shown and told about a few of gadgets, like gyrocopters and voltaic energy sex toys, but it felt superficial. I wanted to know how the technology affected the world as a whole instead of simply being contraptions. The frankenstructs – manufactured humans – existed, but there was nothing about how they were created, or why, and the conflict of getting them declared ‘human’ was resolved entirely too easily.

Both of these issues were even more obvious to me because the writing was superb. Cari Silverwood had a wonderful way with words, creating a nice flow throughout.

In the end, the romance didn’t work for me as much as the eroticism. However I think if you’re looking for a sexy story with great writing, Iron Dominance is definitely for you. I know I’ll definitely be open to trying something else by Ms. Silverwood.

This is one of the first steampunk novels I have read. I wasn't sure what to expect out of this new genre. It will definitely not be the last. Thankfully, there are two more already out in this series:) I loved the world building, great characters, and hot and steamy sex scenes. This is a steampunk/bdsm erotic romance. So if you like "fade to black" you probably want to pass. The author does an admirable job combining a great story with wonderful (eyes rolling in the back of the head, shudder inducing) sex scenes- ~whew~ What Theo and Claire get up to between the sheets, at the table, in the shower, outside- You get the idea ;) and Bonus- there is a great story and new world to learn about too!
Steamships, steam cars, bizarre weapons, bizarre toys (~wink, wink~), cloning. Even shibari! Theo can tie me up anytime. I think this book would be a good fit for people who like a variety of different genres: bdsm, scifi, fantasy, even historical. If you're looking for a well written romance with extra sizzle and a plot, look no further, this book has a little something for everyone.

Theo is a rich, powerful, dominant man. He is accustomed to being obeyed in all things. Unfortunately, while searching for survivors after a crashed airship, they locate an injured female and that starts to throw things a bit awry. He starts to encounter arguments with his trusted men that in the past obeyed his orders without question. Why can one unconscious, injured woman create all this chaos? Well, she is a woman.

Claire is a “frankenstruct”. (Yes, think Frankenstein and you have a good start… only pretty and not green.) In the world they are in, frankenstructs are throwaways. According to the law, if they are not filling their expected positions, they are to be killed. Those found to be harboring a frankenstruct, will face problems. Regardless of the warnings from his security staff, Theo is determined to keep her safe, alive, and tied to his bed.

Steampunk? I have no idea exactly what it is. My teenager knows, but me? Yeah, not so much. When I heard about this new book by Cari Silverwood, I had to go look it up. What I found intrigued me. It’s a mix between sci-fi and fantasy. Most mechanical items that we just overlook are powered by steam. Someone told me to think of the inside of an old time clock… you know, behind the face… lots of cogs that work together to make things work? That’s the general idea behind a lot of things in Steampunk. Then, add some steam.

Well, I must say, in Iron Dominance, Ms Silverwood definitely added the steam. The background is very interesting with the airships and other vehicles, the fascinating inventions by Harry, and the descriptions in the book make it pretty easy to visualize the world that the characters are in. The characters themselves are well rounded and appealing. The story line is pretty easy to follow, even if you do not know about steampunk.

There is lots of heat with BDSM throughout. If you are squeamish about such things, I would not recommend reading this book. However, if you are like me, you will really want to know where to find this Hinchcliff and Co. to get some of the really awesome clothes described in this book! There were a few things that I know, for me, I would have told Theo to kiss off… ok, perhaps a bit more explicit, but in the story, it worked out. There was a bit of some um… colorful phrases that made me laugh… probably not in a good way, but they were few and far between.

Overall, I highly recommend this book whether you are familiar with steampunk or not. I know that I will be looking for another book from Ms Silverwood in the future. .. and even hope that perhaps it will be Dankyo’s story…please?

I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! This book is a page turner that will sweep you into its story from the very first pages. My emotional roller coaster began when Clare - injured and afraid- had a chance to come clean about herself. I wanted her to tell Theo, but I was afraid too. Her assassin’s training would make her more dangerous to Theo and those around him. Would Theo have given her any chance if she told the truth about her past? What a conundrum ? I found myself holding my breath waiting for the inevitable shoe to drop. Ms. Silverwood does a wonderful job ratcheting up the tension in this very unique love story, because despite all the trappings at the heart of Iron Dominance is a love story. It doesn’t start out that way, of course. I t is a seduction of heart palpating proportions. Theo seduces her with the sensation of his kiss, his touch and then a beaded corset that caresses all the right spots. Wow!There’s a simple picnic where Theo tests Clare’s trust in him with her nudity and bondage. There’s also an unbelievable scene of Clare on a St. Andrew’s Cross suspended over a glass dome--well I can’t tell you everything in the story. Just take my word for it. It’s a love story with a heavy BDSM element which works wonderfully within the plot. This is a stellar, steampunk tale in a world of war and espionage. There’s a lot of layers in this story which covered all the bases for me. There’s suspense, a little mystery, a novel take on the Frankenstein tale, and all of it is surrounded by the unique world and gadgetry that is steampunk. And believe me, there are some sexy steampunk gadgets in this tale.

I can’t think of anything bad to say about this story. I can only hope that Ms. Silverwood visits this world and these people again and she very well could. There are two secondary characters, Francine and Dankyo, who could have stories of their own. If Ms. Silverwood decides to write another Iron Dominance tale, all I can say is move over Meljean Brook and make room for Cari Silverwood because there’s another Steampunk Diva on the horizon.

Wow what a book! My first steampunk novel and I adored it. The author created a very believable world and described it so well that I felt immersed in it.
Enthralled by the BDSM and the heat that erupted between them makes Theo and Claire's relationship realistic as he slowly brought her into his world.
Then there is the plot to assasinate someone and Claire thinks that it is her beloved Theo so she will be able to keep him safe simply by not carrying out her mission. So she continues to lie to him so she can keep him, the only person who has ever trated her well and made her feel safe.
But there is so much more - intrigue, deception, suspense, a well developed storyline and even the reappearance of a former collegue and the hated commander. So much in this book has depth and fully fledged characters that you can relate to so easily.
I received a free copy of this book.

Another great book by Cari Silverwood!

Who knew Steampunk could be so sexy. Iron Dominance is the first Steampunk book I have read and I was very impressed. My inner tomboy enjoyed all the different machinery and I thought Cari did a great job of drawing us into Claire and Theo’s world. But, enough about the machinery!

Claire and Theo’s growing attraction was what really drew me in to this story. Claire is definitely wary of Theo and all his security people at first but that wariness slowly gives way to the growing attraction that Claire and Theo feel towards each other. I don’t want to give too much away as I think this is a definite must read for any BDSM lovers. Let’s just say that Theo has some interesting ideas for punishment and Claire definitely gets to experience them. I really liked the relationship that developed between Claire and Theo. They both learnt a lot along the way, not only about each other, but themselves also.

Another notable character in this story is Dankyo who is Theo’s second in command. Dankyo commands his own presence in the story and I can’t wait to see where Cari takes his character in Steel Dominance. At the end of Iron Dominance Dankyo starts to explore the BDSM world himself. If you want to know what I’m talking about then you’ll just have to read the book! The BDSM element in this book was good and I think readers will enjoy some of the implements used throughout the story.

Definitely 5 paddles for Iron Dominance and I’m looking forward to reading Steel Dominance.

This is a delightful book, with its alternative history and a plot that flows through it like a maze. The story is hot and the sex is scorching. Cari Silverwood is on my very short favorite author auto-buy list.

Other than the story, characters, and the writing, I can't see why anyone would not buy this book based on the cover alone. That is one of the BEST covers I've seen on a steampunk novel. Even if you've never read steampunk or don't know what it is you would want to read this book just from looking at that cover.

I'm not really into steam punk, didn't even know it was a category really, but since Cari Silverwood wrote it, I agreed to read it. And you know what? It was really good, I enjoyed it!
Claire is what is known as a frankenstruct, a person made from cloned human parts. She was created and trained to be an assassin. On her way to her job though, she's in a crash, and found by Theo. A man who just happens to have the same name as her target...unfortunately the first name was the only info she got before the crash...but what are the odds that she'd be found and taken care of by the very man she's supposed to kill? A man who also happens to see her as an individual, a person who should have all the same rights as humans, and be treated that way, something that currently isn't how frankenstructs are treated by society in general. He also happens to be really sexy, with a bit of a dominant, kinky streak. Oh yes, not a boring moment in this book!
I can't give you any more details though, you're just going to have to read it for yourself!

A different world

A different world, a different kind of girl, a handsome, rich man. Formulaic?? Heck no! Cari Silverwood does it again.

A girl, with one gigantic secret, her man, Theo, who does all he can to ensure she can remain at his side, in his bed and, for the first time, in public away from what she knew as home.

Twists, turns, and sex. What more could a reader ask for?

May have slight spoilers.

Iron Dominance by Cari Silverwood starts off with our main Lady character, Claire a frankenstruct. More so she is an assassin about to be assigned on a mission when the air ship she is on crashes before she gets any of the details by her commander except a name, Theo, and she is rescued at the crash site by Theo Kevonis.

Though Theo’s head of security Dankyo is against it Theo takes Claire into his home and tells no one about her, as Frankenstructs are illegal and deemed as not human, he can not help but see the woman as human as he. And while tending her finds that she may be more than willing to stay by his side or better yet kneeling at his feet.

Claire immediately feels the pull of the commanding man that has saved her though doesn’t quite understand it but is all to willing to learn and Theo all to willing to give her lesions and teach her how good it can feel to submit to him. But soon lie after lie to keep what she was really on the air ship for has her tangled in a web of deceit and then news comes that her commander did not die in the crash after all.

I have never been a fan of Science Fiction; sure there are a few I liked even loved but overall the genre is not on my list. That is one of the main reasons I put off reading Steampunk; it sounded cool and I love some of the things I have saw pictured but overall I had heard it was very inline with Science Fiction. But when I saw the words Steampunk and BDSM, there was no way I could think to say anything but yes! And I loved it oh my, if every Steampunk book is this awesome then I have been deprived!

I really liked Claire as a character and though I felt an intense need for her to tell Theo everything; she unfortunately did not. This book was everything a BDSM novel should be in my opinion and more because though I have read BDSM this was of course my first Steampunk so I am getting all these new images in my head of things I have never heard of before along with the sex scenes Cari has written in this book! Like the bedroom scene with Henry’s toys. *blushes* Or the air ship scene, or the ending scene with Dankyo…*shivers*

All in all I really liked this novel the BDSM elements were erotic as hell, really Henry making all those naughty toys for Theo to use. It was fast paced, very informative for anyone new to either Steampunk or BDSM. One thing I admit to being curious about is Dankyo. Will there be a second book perchance so we can see his foray into BDSM and about his Lady? I admit I would not be averse to reading it, I quite liked Dankyo as a character he was in control, dangerous, dominate, tall, very muscular… ;)

I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves BDSM and Steampunk but I would also recommend this novel to anyone who likes BDSM and is curious about Steampunk; it made a great and lasting impression for Steampunk as a whole for me.

*I received an Ebook copy of this book for free to review from the author.

The first book in the SteamWork Chronicles. it is an erotic Steampunk book. I enjoyed the Steampunk elements, specially the clothes and how they were used. And that scene in the airship, very hot.
I would have liked a bit more details of the world and the characters. Claire is a frankenstruct, but not much is told about them and their history. And I had trouble seeing a real connection between Claire and Theo

"If you'll let me, I'll take you on a journey, one you won't easily forget."

A fast paced romance that I can't really put in one category. Part steampunk, erotic, bdsm and paranormal the meeting and relationship that explodes between Theo and Claire takes you on a wild journey. Not as dark as many of Cari's stories, it is still extremely addictive and creative.

No one plans on having a surprise attack be the saving grace that changes life forever. Claire is one of the few survivors of the crash. A connection forms between Claire and Theo as soon as they meet. A mixture of curiosity, desire and an infinite need to hold another in submission.

At first, the story reads like a dashing, seductive romance with a strong leading man and an inexperienced young woman. Here is every man's fantasy. An exotically, beautiful young woman with golden eyes and a natural submissive nature. The lonely, loveless girl yearns for a firm hand and a place to belong. She's found both in a man who towers over her, watches her with stark gray eyes, and commands her to things that she's never thought to do in manners she's never imagined possible.

The story is a sensual, erotic dream with a grand power play. I would have grinned and stayed delighted from start to finish if the dream had not been darkened by the story falling out of sync. I'm curious to see what's next!

Hmmm, what to say about this book, how to describe it? This series was my first foray into the Steampunk world of crazy contraptions, and I have to say it will *not* be my last.

Claire is a Frankenstruct – a being assembled from cloned parts – with no rights as a human being, trained as an assassin from a young age. Her sadistic handler, Inkline, is providing a briefing on her first mission, when the airship they are traveling on is shot down.

Theo is a highly ranked Lord, determined to use his place of birth to help the people of his estate and his country. When his men find a beautiful female Frankenstruct, wounded, in the wreckage of a downed airship he cannot allow them to fulfill the law and terminate her on sight. The law states she is not a person, but Theo can’t see her as just a thing, and the Dom in him can’t help but see her as something more.

Claire is trapped with only bad options, but if she tells Theo the truth about her mission, she will lose the first human who has ever seen her as a person.

This is a richly drawn world, with complex main characters. Watching Claire’s first free steps in the world are as fascinating to the reader as they are to Theo. Theo’s steadfast support and belief in Claire’s “human-ness” is a nice change from the normal misunderstandings and mistrust that occur in the romance/erotica genres. Don’t worry though, some mistrust is provided in the form of Theo’s head of security, Dankyo.

The BDSM scenes are HOT, varied and inventive, with the Steampunk world in evidence in the gadgets, toys, clothing and contraptions. I recommend this book to anyone who likes BDSM and wants to read a very well written book, with a multifaceted world and excellent characters.

This was a pretty good read. It's my first steampunk book and I found it an interesting addition to the story line.

Claire is a frankenstruct. A person put together from cloned parts of a person. She was made and raised as an assassin. The ship she's on crashes and she's saved by Theo. Normally Frankenstructs are killed but Theo doesn't believe it's right and protects her. He tries to discover who she is and more info about her but since she's scared (for various reasons) she doesn't tell him she was trained as an assassin. I liked Claire but there was a time or two when I wondered that someone with her background and training would be able to accept everything so easily. She doesn't really have the right temperament for an assassin anyways so maybe that's why she takes everything a little easier than I would have expected.

Theo is a good man. He is Dominant and when he finds himself attracted to Claire he doesn't hesitate to seduce her. Fortunately he finds her to be a natural submissive which matches with his needs. He tries to find out more about her for himself and because he wants to make sure she's safe to have around his people (he's a Lord with lands and many people working for him). He knows she isn't telling him everything but trusts her to an extent.

Although Claire is willing to leave her past behind her, it doesn't want to stay there. Things come to a head and Claire has to admit to lies. She works to correct them but Theo doesn't take it well. Help comes from a friend and things end nicely. I enjoyed this story and am glad I tried it. I may read more in the series. :D

Iron Dominance is a sultry, wickedly enthralling story. Ms. Silverwood has done an excellent job combining steampunk and erotic romance, creating a world that is vivid and lush. The protagonists, Theo and Claire, come to life on the page. From start to finish, their journey from strangers to lovers captivates and entertains. Likewise careful attention is devoted to secondary characters, who add depth and richness to the story.

Claire is the perfect heroine. Strong when she needs to be, tender when the time calls for it. Although her origins make her different than others, she finds a way to trust in others, something she’s never believed possible. Aiding her in her explorations is Theo, a commanding, sexy dominant who knows exactly what he desires in and out of the bedroom. Their chemistry is off the charts and pulls the reader into their world, their passions, and their growing adoration for each other.

Ms. Silverwood has a writing style that is a pleasure to read. Iron Dominance moves at a quick pace with nary a lull, making the book impossible to put down. Although the book is a BDSM romance, emotion is the foundation of the story. Suspense builds tension between the protagonists, especially as Claire is forced to come clean about her past and trust Theo to understand her motivations.

Fans of steampunk will devour Iron Dominance. Those curious about this new genre in erotic romance need look no further.

I have not enjoyed this book that much. I felt that BDSM theme was forced rather than embraced. In some instances the amount of sexual activity in one day ended up being simple torture especially as the main female character was a novice, with no logic behind it. No proper after-care was introduced in this book even though it was so heavily based BDSM practices. Describing the main female character being in restraints for prolonged period of time without being given a massage to relax muscles afterwards is just being mean. If an Author has done book based on BDSM practices, then the Author has a responsibility to include proper after-care, which is after all one of the most sensitive and emotional parts of Dom/sub, Master/slave, relationships.
In addition I did not feel connection between Claire and Theo. To me Theo was cold, and Claire too indecisive, she only grew a backbone at the end of the book, which shows that there was also no proper character development.
Cari does have nice writing style and the limited action in the book was interesting.
I would rate this 2.5 star.

This was a very well written and sexy book. However, the steampunk aspect was minimal, so I would not take that in to consideration either way.

Our heroine, Claire, is a lab-grown construct who has been further trained as an assassin. After her airship crashes, she's rescued by Theo, a wealthy guy who is immediately smitten by her beauty and apparent strengths.

Now here is the tough part. Claire has been trained to obey orders from imposing men, and Theo enjoys being a leader among men, and a Dom among women. She submits because she's been trained to. Even though Theo also provides a glimmer of hope for her freedom, she's caught by her love of submissive sex. This part of the setup bothered me a bit. If not for that, 5 stars for sure.

That said, the sex scenes are both detailed and hot, and Cari rarely cuts them short. The settings and implements of sexual arousal are quite creative (partly due to the steampunk setting, but could be anywhen). The emotional push and pull between Theo, Claire, and some of the secondary characters is more believable than many.

The first thing I have to say about this book is that I absolutely love the length, the completeness of the story, the fact that there is tons going on besides the hot sex scenes. Not to say that the sex isn't way hot, but there's tons of story, action, characterization in addition to the sex. Then there's steampunk too? I was so grateful to find Cari's writing; combining erotic romance and steampunk gave me a chance to interact with my partner, who loves steampunk far more than I had. Meeting Clare was great- I had an immediate connection with her, sympathy for her. When the crash happened and her life changed forever, I had to keep reading without putting the book down. I adore everything about Theo; he's a fascinating character and so lovably dominant. I look forward to moving on to the next book in this trilogy- "Lust Plague"- the idea of "frankenstructs is highly interesting and creative storytelling.
