3.5 stars. In this book, Dunkum is digging in a mudhole in Mr Tressler's yard and finds a buried chest. The other kids all join in helping him pull it out and we find out its a time capsule from 20 years ago. The kids are intrigued by whats inside and they find out they know some of the kids that made it :) I think I'm rating this a little lower just because I'm tired fo the series for now.

I enjoy these mysteries for young children ... Beverly Lewis writes beautiful with young ones in mind ... they are a bit shallow for adult reading, but I'm enjoying the stories and the friendships in this series.

Great books for kids!! I loved the Christian influence and my 6 year old son could relate to the situations while still reading the book himself!! HIGHLY recommend!!

Like the other Cul-de-sac Kids' books this too makes a fun little read. The kids are after a possible 'treasure'. Even after they got it, it was still a mystery till the end.

This is number 10 in the Cul-De-Sac series for ages 7through 10. However, I read them aloud to my 6, 4, and 2 year old.

I enjoy the cute story lines and the lovable characters that Beverly Lewis so wonderfully introduces us to. Each book is not just a story but also a lesson on friendship, obedience, kindness, compassion, encouragement, love, and much more.

In this specific book, The Mudhole Mystery, Dunkum learns that you have to be patient and work together as a team. Even if it was your idea to begin with.

It is easy to relate this books to kid's real life adventures and help to make the connection in the lesson. I highly recommend them for kids to read alone or for you to read out load as a family.

When Dunkum digs in the mud in Mr. Tressler's yard, he finds a time capsule. He learns that is important to ask permission before digging just anywhere. He also feels torn about sharing the contents with the cul de sac kids when he was the one who actually found it. The book's conclusion is neat as Dunkum ends up having a personal connection to the time capsule.

A time capsule in a mud hole, and who's is it? Beverly Lewis does a wonderful job at relating to little kids and forming a book that's right on their level. She does well addressing the inner struggles of little ones and showing them the right ways to respond, all along the way as this carefree club embarks on their little adventures.
