I received this book to review for the Read2Review program in the Paranormal Romance/Fantasy Addicts group. Thanks to the mods and the author for providing this book for us to read.

A Demon Made Me Do it was a book that I simply did not want to put down. It captured my attention from start to finish.

Liora is a true introvert who wants to keep to herself, live a normal life, and not be bothered. Her body hosts a demon named Lucky who is the complete opposite of that. Lucky wants to have fun, and avenge her friend's death.

The characters are great. Liora is the main character, and this book has a love triangle done right. Romance fans will for sure swoon for either one or both of the potential love interests. Between Bones and Kieron, there's something for everyone.

The author tells a great story of teen angst mixed with fun, a little romance, and humor. The world this story takes place in will suck you in, and leave you wanting more. I, for one, can't wait for the second installment.

A demon Made Me Do It was an engaging read that I found hard to put down. The story starts with Liora. During the day Liora is a high school senior, a loner with only one real friend. During the night, while Liora is sleeping, Lucky comes out to play. Lucky is a rough and tumble demon who lives for hunting and killing other demons, especially the ones who killed her best friends. Liora and Lucky share a body but are two completely separate individuals. Then Kieron shows up and falls for Liora…or is it Lucky?

The author did a wonderful job with the characters. They are very well written and have such unique personalities, especially Liora and Lucky. Liora is a human, and the author did a great job showing her humanity, innocence, and her desire to be "normal." Lucky is red hot and shows a tough exterior, but inside she is hurting just as much as Liora. Bones, Lucky's best friend, is funny and loyal to her. Lucky and Bones' relationship is heartbreaking, as they both want to be so much more than friends, but it seems like that is something that just cannot be. Kieron comes into the picture and falls for both Liora and Lucky. His character is a little more mysterious at first, and you have to wonder what he is hiding, but at the same time, you cannot help but like him, too.

The way you are drawn into these two separate worlds is amazing. Liora's world is a lonely place where she's just trying to get through high school. Lucky's world is full of demons, hell-hounds and vampires. The author created two very in-depth worlds in this book and did a great job of connecting them.

I loved that we got to see through both Liora's and Lucky's eyes, and the author did an amazing job of this without making things complicated or hard to follow. Throughout the book they were almost two separate people with two separate lives, even though they shared one body.

The only thing I really did not like about the book was the ending…it came way too soon! I was not ready to stop reading yet, so of course I have already picked up the next book. I cannot wait to find out what happens with Liora, Lucky, Bones and Kieron.

A Demon Made Me Do It – by Penelope King

This is one awesome read, Penelope King’s writing style was so easy to read her words flowed off the pages and had me hooked from the very first chapter. I found this novel very unique, you have two character’s with different personalities who share one body. The concept is different than a regular demon possession, the way the story is delivered you get to know the characters as individuals and see how opposite they both are. Penelope King is a fantastic author she has written this story about an individual character with two personalities and they live in two different worlds it’s like you get two for the price of one. I enjoyed this book so much I couldn’t put in down and was shocked when I realized I was near the last page.

So we are introduced to Liora and young woman attending her senior year of high school and cannot wait to be finished with it. She doesn’t understand why she even has to attend due to the fact she shares her body with a demon. Liora has one friend and its hard on them both as Liora is never around in the evenings and the excuse of not leaving her blind grandmother alone at night does make her friend wonder. Lucky who is the Demon half of Liora, only comes out at night, she is a kick ass demon who loves to hunt and kill other demons but her main goal or passion in life is to find the demon that killed her best friends? Liora and Lucky share a body but they are very separate people so when Kieron walks into their life’s and falls for Liora or is it Lucky things get really interesting. Kieron holds some secrets himself and Lucky is not sure he can be trusted with Liora. And then we have Bones, Lucky’s best friend who is always there for Lucky and will do anything for her. Lucky knows she is in love with Bones but realizes that it would never work between them. I want somehow for this not to be so and I am pulling for Lucky and Bones to end up together. It puts another great spin on this story.

This is a great novel and if you’re like any of the others who have read it you too will rush out and buy Fire with Fire (Demonblood #2) as you want to know what is going to happen next. I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves to read paranormal novels.

I got this book to read and review from the Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! So here goes:
the book is based on an interesting topic and what makes it even better is that Liora's two personalities are two actually different people. I think that's why I found it weird when both of them fall for the same guy. Its like two girls sharing the same boyfriend. Also, wouldn't we call a guy like Kieron a player, if he was dating two women who aren't even compatible?
Another classic example of instant attraction between the lead characters- since Liora doesn't really have to deal with demons (Lucky does), her attraction to a half demon guy just because he's also half human is not a good enough explanation.
Liora's dislike for anything demonic was just confusing- she had been told she wasn't quite human, even before her personality split and I didn't find it believable that she'd be so anti-demon.
How it ended was a pleasant surprise- how Lucky decided that the people in her life were more important than revenge.
I liked how Liora's influence tempered Lucky and made her feel what a demon(or half) would never feel.
Even though, I found the writing style a little bit immature for my taste, I liked the book and will be looking forward to the next installment in the series.

She's Liora Greyson by day, Lucky the Demon by night. When Liora was in her sapie/human form, all she really just wanted was to be left alone. She didn't want to draw attention to herself. But then she met Kieron Ambrose and she suddenly saw herself in a new light. Keiron and Liora both had dark secrets of their own. And she didn't want Lucky to have anything to do with them.

Despite sharing the same body, Liora hated the demon inside her. Actually she hated all the demons because of what they did to her half incubus friend, Bones. She really hated Lucky and didn't want her in her life.

Lucky, the demi-demon by night had no choice but to wait and be awaken from dusk til dawn so she could do whatever she needed to do: hunt and slay demons, torment humans and bring justice to those who deserve it. Although she wanted to do all these in her own little time, she didn't have a choice but wait until Liora slept. This was caused by a spell cast by monsters that split her soul in two.

Now they both met Kieron and all hell broke loose. Literally. Both girls got interested in him, and vice versa. But how would Liora react once she learned that Kieron was the kind of guy she wanted to stay away from?

This was a great Halloween read, I enjoyed every minute of it! The plot was amazingly unique - imagine sharing the same body with a demon. Ugh! Actually, I pity the body that inhabits this two girls, because she gets used 24/7. No rest, no sleep, no time to hibernate! Plus the guys were to-die for. I think both Bones and Kieron were cute and loveable and sooo gorgeous! I don't care whether the other one had dark secrets or the other one was troublesome - they're both sexy as hell and I liked it!

Penelope King is a great author, I have no more words to say. I don't know how she had managed to create a mystifying fantasy that made a 30+ year old (me) swoon and giggle like a teenager. Yep, this is geared for the Young Adults, so what does a mom like me doing, reading Demonblood? Well, my answer is simple: I know how to appreciate a good read and Ms King's book is definitely worth-reading.

WOW! How do I even put into words how fantastic this book is?

I fell right into the story from the very first page and couldn't put it down. It was an electric charge of emotions from the get go and never once did it fail to impress me. The characters are all amazing, so well written and unique. Normally there is at least one character who gets on my nerves, but it was impossible to dislike any of them.

The story starts with Liora, an average teen with a supernatural secret. She shares her body with a demon. She tries her best to conceal this fact, but with great difficulty as the demon is restless and likes to make an appearance once in a while. Liora is an outcast, distancing herself from people because she believes there is no way she can live a happy, normal life.

When night falls, Liora sleeps and Lucky awakens. She is a kick ass demion who takes no prisoners and enjoys tormeting "sapies" (humans) and demons alike, who rightfully deserved to be tormented! I felt her tough exterior was a mask for the tumultuous feelings she keeps hidden inside, and she continually blames Liora for weakening her with those emotions, instead of owning up to them.

Of course, what would a great paranormal romance be without some delicious eye candy!?

Bones, the hot as hell (no pun intended) incubus/hell hound. Lucky's best friend, who would chew off his own arm just to be with her. But his cavorting ways are always in the forefront of Lucky's mind and although she loves him, the thought of sharing him with anyone else is unbearable. But Bones cannot change what he is and what he has to do to survive, which leaves me wondering, can there ever be anything between them?

Then there is Kieron, with his movie star good looks and charm. Kieron steps into the lives of both Liora and Lucky, and he quickly falls for both of them. Even though Kieron lies and keeps secrets, it's really difficult to fault him in anyway. He always makes amends for his actions and besides, everything he does is in Liora/Lucky's best interests.

I really loved this book in every way! The only disappointing thing about it was that it had to end!! I wanted to cry when I got to the last page and realised that was it!! So, naturally, I wasted no time in purchasing Fire with Fire, the second book in the Demonblood series. Although it is still very early in the new year, I have no doubt that the Demonblood series is going to be a strong contender for my favourite series read in the year 2012.

Thank you to the R2R team :) and to Penelope King for giving me the opportunity to read A Demon Made Me Do It!

This is not my usual preferred genre, but a great YA Paranormal Romance, nonetheless.

I loved the concept of this book: One person by day....…and the complete opposite by night, and neither of them knowing what is going on with the other. Not to mention, each of them hating everything to do with the other. A great representation of dealing with your own personal demons. The separate chapters used for each persona kept things nice and neat, and allowed the chance to get to know and relate to Lucky and Liora.

I felt the instant claiming of love was a little quick and therefore had a hard time relating to the bond of the characters, but this is usually the case for me with the genre. I will say, what an interesting concept, to be jealous of your other self with the same boy, and kudos to the author for pulling this off! That situation could have become awkward and just plain weird very easily......instead I was able to see both Lucky and Liora as separate individuals, but as one also.

There was a real strong beginning to this story with a little lull in the middle, focusing a bit too much on their emotions regarding Kieron rather than the action surrounding the plot. I thought the ending was well done and wrapped up the story nicely.

Over all I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it for mature young adults. I look forward to reading the next in the series and appreciate the author allowing me to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Lucky and Liora were two completely different characters sharing the same body, and oh, boy, did they dislike one another. Liora, the human half, just wanted to be a perfectly normal girl, while Lucky, the demon, wanted to kick butt and paint the town red. The switch between the two halves was well done, an the conflict between them was also believable. After all ... who wants to share?

I adored Bones, Lucky's (and it turns out Liora's) half-hellhound, half-incubus friend. I felt sorry for him, though, because he really did love Lucky and his Incubus half made that love impossible. After all, who wants a boyfriend who needs to seduce nubile young virgins every single night to keep that half dominant or he'll turn into a pure hellhound forever?

[*talk about your relationship going to the dogs! *]

The only person I didn't like was Kieron. He was too goody-two-shoes, too patient, too unbelievable, and too perfect. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, to find out he was evil, or had some redeeming character flaw, or something. It never came. All along, it felt as though he was using Lucky/Liora for his own purpose and even the big climax at the end ... meh ... it was almost anti-climatic.

So ... fascinating story ... looking forward to reading the next book in the series ... more Bones! But if I never see Kieron again with the Lucky/Liora shift, I'll be perfectly content.

I received this as a part of the Read 2 Review program.

Let me just say that this book has the “it” factor. The story was one you want to fall into the pages reading. I laughed, I sighed and I fell in love again. This young adult paranormal romance novel has it all.

This story is imaginative and well written. It has the romance. It has the action. It has everything you need to be satisfied. The love relationship shirts the edges of believability which seems to be the trend these days, but that is all I have to complain about. Liora was sweet and kind. Lucky was sassy and fun. Kieron appeared to have it all, but my heart belonged to Bones.

I’ve read a lot of indie novels. This one ranks up there with those that are just as good if not better than some traditionally published novels. I'd rate this book a 4.5. I am headed off to buy Fire with Fire because I must know what comes next.

I recommend this to mature young adults.

Thanks to Penelope King for providing this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Overview
This urban fantasy revolves around Liora Greyson, half-human/half-demon. She's trying to get through high school without her secret getting out, but being a half demon doesn't exactly make her Ms. Popular. The delicate balance between her two worlds are thrown off kilter once she meets the elusive Kieron Ambrose. Can she let go of her past and accept her future, or will her pain and anger seal her fate?

What I Thought
This is a witty, engaging YA novel. I almost don't want to label it YA, because I think some may dismiss it as too innocent or tame to read. It does not necessarily contain the graphic description of a bodice-ripper novel; but I it has just enough romance without being sappy and enough spice to steam reading glasses with the possibilities. The "dual" nature of the heroine was clever and made me feel for both aspects of her nature. I felt badly for her demon side, while still seeing the innocence of the human aspect.

The way King draws you in to both sides of the story is wonderful and entertaining. There are many different types of "demon" for even the most discerning taste, and hell-hound shifters for those who prefer their supernatural with fur. I really enjoyed it, and most definitely will pick up the next book. I'm eager to know what will happen with Liora, Lucky, Bones, and Kieron.

The few down sides... I usually can find something in nearly any book; but I have to admit, it was difficult with this one. There were minor formatting issues, I don't recall if this started in mobi format, or if I converted it. So there is always the possibility the problem lay with converting software. However, I did find, regularly, minor issues of the beginning or end of a word being spaced from the rest of the word. The other difficulty I had, was almost too much going on. I started to get a little confused in the higher action scenes. She created a very in-depth world but it became almost too deep for me at times. Not a problem for everyone, could just be a personal issue of mine.

If you enjoy paranormal, romance of the tamer variety, and don't mind YA I highly recommend picking up this book. For those of you who really want to have a spoiler- Stop Reading Now If You Don't- the dual nature of Liora (half-human/half-demon) reminds me of the old movie LadyHawke.

This book is truly AMAZING! It is a twist of good/evil wrapped up in one! Penelope Kings makes a believable world of demons and humans that I would love to live in. I was hooked by page one and couldn't stop turning till the end. This series is something new and original!

Liora Greyson is sort of an outkast at her school, She likes to keep to herself because her life is anything but normal, by night she shares a body with a demon slaying Hot babe named "Lucky." Why? Because Lucky is out for blood for the killers who murdered her friends and also the demons that caused Liora's "Soul" to split in half into two; Liora not having any idea on whats happening in the demon world meets a guy named Kieron who is new in town and starts to hit it off with him and everything seems good. Liora's not the only one having the hots for a guy becuase someone shows up too in the demon world who happens to save Lucky's life, who is this mysterious guy and why does he seem so anxious to know so much about her? I don't know, you guys just have to find out and see!

This is a Gothic Fantasy book that is something you want to get your hands on, a human/demon story that is so refreshing and will leave you panting for the second book "Fire with Fire". I recommend this book for any one who loves HOT demon/wolf boys and a love triangle to die for. -TeamBones :)

I try really hard to not rehash the entire story or give a bunch of spoilers when I review a book, but it may be hard not to this time! I'll do my best, though. ;)

I received this book to rebiew from the Shut Up & Read group's Read It & Reap event. I have to say, I have been extremely fortunate in the books I've been given to review through them so far. There really haven't been any misses. :)

Anyway, about this book...

I admit it--halfway into the very first chapter I was convinced I was going to hate this book. Liora seemed like the typical, overly-angsty teenager often depicted in paranormal fantasy these days. I initially found her constant whiny and hating herself grating. All I can say is I'm so happy I read chapter 2!

Lucky kicks ass! There's really no other way to describe her. She is also strong, practical, loyal to her friends, and more willing to look into herself and face the things that make her uncomfortable that she admits. And as time went by, I found Liora to be less annoying as she found her own strength and started to face her own inner "demons".

There are only a couple of things that prevented me from giving this book five stars. The first is that The second issue is that conversations sometimes felt stilted to me. While I appreciate that there was a distinct lack of inappropriate idioms throughout, the almost complete lack of contractions often made discussions feel too formal and unnatural.

This book had everything--romance, fear, growth, drama, excitement, sadness, and victory. It was a great story and I can't wait to read the next one!

I think the story was well written and easy to follow. You got to know the characters well and understand their motives.

The plot is of a girl that is a hybrid of a human and demon. She witness the death of 2 of her human friends when she is 12 and it "splits" her soul in two. During the day she is Liora, the outcast with one friend. During the night she is Lucky, the smoking hot demion that is on the hunt for the two demons that killed her childhood playmates. Keiron "the new boy" shows up and is interested in Liora/Lucky. The girls come to find out that Keiron is a demion as well and is hunting the same demons Lucky is. Keiron needs to capture said demons and return them to the authorities that be otherwise he will remain under their power infinitely. Lucky has to make the decision on whether of she wants her revenge or a life w/Keiron in the end.

I really enjoyed reading this book and liked the unique-ness of the plot with the divided souls. I had to finish and find out what happened and couldn't walk away.

I really wanted to like this book but the more I read, the more it sounded like a storyline from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Glory). While there were some differences, the basic premise was the same. Half human/ half demon, living in the same body, vying for control. It had some great action scenes and the angst was well done.

This book had me captivated from the very first page. Well, actually, it had my attention from the synopsis but upon reading the first page, I almost instantly knew that this was going to be a good read, and boy was I not disappointed! The concept of a girl with “multiple” personalities is such a unique story and the way that it is then executed in the book is just so interesting. I really enjoyed getting to know both Lucky and Liora and loved reading what they got up to and how their lives were going. It was a really well written novel that manages to grab the reader’s attention and really keep them hooked on the page just wanting more.

The demons in this book were so interesting to read about. They were unique and different and it was a really nice change to really see things from a demons perspective. It was intriguing to hear about the different types of demons and the way that they played along with each other. It was all so captivating and page-turning and just left the reader wanting more. I especially enjoyed Bones, who was such a complex and interesting character and one that I was rooting for throughout the novel.

What I really found compelling in this novel was the romance and the way that this was executed. Both Lucky and Liora were certain that they would never be able to lead a normal life the way they wanted to live it and they certainly wouldn’t have been able to fall in love easily when they only live half lives. In steps Kieron. I have to say that I absolutely love him. I don’t usually get too swoon worthy over boys in books but Kieron took my heart and ran away with it. He is such an adorable character who is strong and powerful and sensitive and just... everything you’d ever want in a guy. Of course, he has his many flaws which help to make him grounded and real but he is just so brilliant. I love how natural the romance in this novel was. Liora may have been pulled to Kieron for reasons she didn’t understand but those reasons came to light quickly when they spent time together and just got on so well together. It was so refreshing to actually see the falling in love part.

The overall story was truly captivating and interesting. I loved how many things were thrown at the reader and how it all didn’t seem like it was connected at all and yet, it is likely it was. There were some lose ends that weren’t tied together nicely but as this is only the first book in the series, it is very likely that these ends will be sorted together as the series continues. I especially like where this novel ends and leaves the reading quite clearly wanting more. I was actually a little sad when the novel ended, simply because I wasn’t able to continue reading anymore but it is needless to say that I will be purchasing the next book very soon!

One final reason that I adored this book was because of the writing style. Penelope King really managed to write in a way that gets the reader hooked. It’s written in first person and it is done so well that you can really get the emotions of every character on the page. It is so nice to get that as it is often difficult to fully see how others feel through a first person narrative but Penelope hits it on the head. She also has a powerful way of finishing chapters while making you just want to continue reading. This novel was one that I truly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone who wants something different, easy and compelling to read.

I received this book from the goodreads group, Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy as part of their read 2 review section.

My favorite thing about A Demon Made Me Do It was that I couldn't call what was going to happen. Especially with the love triangle ... square ... pentagon (heck, we could throw in a countless number of sides, I suppose)? It was nice to not know precisely who was going to end up with who. I love that readers get a prophecy pretty early on in the novel, but that it doesn't really give away the future, just muddles it and provides possibilities (like a good prophecy should).
OK, actually, my favorite thing might have been the dual narration. I had a hard time, at the end of any given chapter, knowing who I wanted to hear from next. I thought the development of the story was deftly handled as well. Sometimes it would take several chapters to get a single day and night covered, and other times, Liora or Lucky would sum up three or four days with a few sentences. The pacing of the story was strong. Because both Lucky and Liora had interesting lives, there wasn't a need for a whole lot of "action" in the majority of the book - the characters held the reader's attention. I personally abhor "paranormal" stories where every other chapter SOMETHING attacks - it was nice to have action in a believable way - Lucky went out looking for it. The division between interpersonal drama, action, romance, flashbacks and plot exposition was balanced and designed for reader enjoyment.
Also, the world was immersive, but for the most part, well-explained. And some of the secrets, the reader gets the idea, are not shared on purpose but will slowly unfold as the series continues. The characters were also well-developed. Their personalities and motivations made *sense* (how refreshing) and the reader could relate to them. The one exception to this rule was, of course, supposed to be the exception. Even as the characters in the book wondered what he was up to, that hunk of gorgeous subterfuge, so too did the readers. Thus King has set the reader up to identify with her characters and to have every reason to continue reading.
Highly enjoyable.

Oh, PS. I love Bones. :D

I loved this book beyond words! In a way, this surprised me since I don’t normally read fantasy, much less demon oriented books, but King does such a masterful job at creating a world and characters that capture your attention, I couldn’t put it down. Sure, teen angst has been done a million times. But never like this! King’s unusual take on the struggles of navigating the teenage years is absolutely refreshing.

Liora Greyson would like nothing more than to live a normal life, but that seems to be impossible when she has to share her body with a demon named Lucky. It’s hard enough to make excuses as to why she can’t attend sleepovers or parties, but with Lucky set on getting revenge for the murders of her friends, things get even trickier for Liora. But when Liora meets the new kid, Kieron, things start to look up for a change. Maybe she actually has a shot at a normal relationship. Well, as normal as it can possibly get when she is only herself during the daylight hours. She might have some explaining to do if she ever meets Kieron after dark—when her demonic side comes out.

Lucky goes berserk when she discovers Liora has been spending time with the mysterious Kieron. Lucky’s sure Kieron’s hiding something. Something that can destroy both of their worlds. Thankfully, Lucky has Bones to watch out for her. Bones is her best friend who happens to be an incubus and a hound of hell. Not to mention he’s incredibly sexy. Bones is the desire of every young girl’s heart—at least for one night—but for Lucky, he’s always been her best friend. Nothing more. Whatever their relationship happens to be, Bones won’t let anything happen to Lucky. But what happens when Lucky discovers the secrets that Kieron’s been keeping and both Lucky and Liora’s worlds are threatened?

The thing I loved most about this story was King’s way with the characters. She creates such unique personalities that made me fall in love with all of them. In most books, I tend to choose one or two characters I like more and root for them. In A DEMON MADE ME DO IT, I loved them all. That is definitely the work of a fantastic writer. I highly recommend this book and am on the edge of my seat for book two of the series. Penelope King has found herself a devoted reader in me.

As always I need to thank the R2R guys and the author for giving me a copy of this book to read for review! There are some days when I'm just so happy to be part of this group, for without them I would have never found some of the best books! Like this one!!

I can't say enough how much I LOVED this book! On point, it's got great characters and a wonderful plot, and fantastic names with some of the best writing I've come across! With that said, I'd like to go into discussion of the characters :)

LUCKY- I really her style of b@$chiness :) she is a force to be reckoned with. She's a fighter, and she stands up for what she wants- even when it's wrong lol! But her soft side comes through at the end and the ultimate decision she makes is the right one :)

LIORA- I think her personality is my favorite! She wants to be good person but struggles with that because she hates her other half. She seems to always try to do the right thing, and yes she makes mistakes, but she remedies that.

KIERON- *swoons* yeah I'm in love with him too. Yes he had secrets, but he has his reasons, and in the end they come out. He has genuine feelings for both sides, which is why he's perfect... In my opinion! I can't wait to see more of his character

BONES- I secretly wanna lick him hahaha ok. It not a secret anymore... He's a good guy too and I like so many things about him, but I dunno if I could deal with his "brand" and what he has to do to stay alive. The only thing I didn't like about him is he is "one sided" (read it to know what I mean)! My heart breaks for him a little and I really wanna see more of him too!!

TATIANA- I kinda wanna be her. She is creepy sometimes but she is a great guardian and she is always there for both sides! And she has some pretty cool powers :)

So, all in all, excellent 5 stars, and I've already bought book 2-before I finished this one- and as soon as I can, I'm diving into that one!!

This book was way better than I expected. I thought it would be a really dark and eerie demon slaying kind of book, but it was actually a tale of acceptance, facing your fears, and coming into terms with who you really are, even the ugly bits that you hate about yourself.

Whenever I read a book with characters with different personalities I always end up loathing at least one of them, but that didn't happen with this book. I loved all the characters, both demons and humans. They all had their own charms. The plot is also well written and unique, although the pacing and switching of POVs ticked me off at times.

It had it's fair share of teen angst, but not enough to make it too annoying, so that's good. Oh, and I have to say, the guys in this book are sizzling hot. I mean, I guess most paranormal young adult books need hot guys to add an extra oomph of, err, paranormal-ness, but the guys in A Demon Made Me Do It had a hotness meter of a burning fury of a thousand suns. And i'm not even exaggerating here. Oh, and I loved Lucky so much, it scared me. She reminded me of Cara Mason from Legend of The Seeker, with her leather outfits, extreme bad-assery, and all that.

It's very easy to relate to the story since all of us have a side of ourselves that we don't really like and all that. It also had a lot of adrenaline filled butt-kicking scenes, which I loved. It wasn't too serious though, with the characters' deadpan humor making me chuckle here and there. All in all it was a pretty good book, and I honestly enjoyed it.

A Solid 4 Stars!

I love the concept of this book - Liora, who's human, must share her body with Lucky, a demon during the night. It's like she's living a double life. The author is able to portray this idea in a believable and entertaining way, shaping the plot with its own share of peaks and exciting turns.

The relationships between the characters are also quite complex. Take Bones for example - he's clearly romantically interested in Lucky, but acts as an older brother towards Liora. Meanwhile, Liora, who claims she absolutely hates demons, harbors a brotherly love towards Bones and a romantic interest towards Kieron. Moreover, Kieron (at least in my opinion) seems romantically interested in both Lucky and Liora (which I find is a little confusing and player-ish). However, the relationship I found the most interesting was between Lucky and Liora. On one hand, they may despise each other because of the difficulties they present each other, and simply because the other is human/demon. However, they have a need to protect each other, making them emotionally bonded towards each other.

Overall, The Demon Made Me Do It is a light and enjoyable read c: I recommend this book for people who enjoy PNR/UF, or the Mortal Instruments series (I don't know why, this book kind of reminds me of City of Bones, although they are actually quite different!)

I can't wait to read the sequel :D

Liora has a secret. She shares her body with a demon, Lucky. During daylight, Liora has her time, but once darkness falls, Lucky takes over. She is a justice demon and travels through the demon portal to hand out that justice. Liora is a sweet, pleasant girl who wouldn't harm a fly while Lucky has a bad attitude and is constantly angry and seeking revenge on the demons who killed her two best friends and split her soul in two. And then they both meet and fall for, the handsome Kieron.

From the first paragraph I found this book really easy to read. I liked the authors writing style a lot and the book just flowed. I liked the story and I really liked Liora and felt for her situation and wanted things to come good for her. But I hated Lucky and this made the book kind of frustrating for me. I enjoyed the story lines that involved her, I just would have preferred them from someone else's POV. I could not stand that Kieron liked her too. She was sooo different from Liora that it seemed a bit impossible he could really care about them both. I don't think I have ever disliked a character in a book so much, even when they were the "evil villian".

I will definitely read the next book because I am hooked now and really want to see what happens next.

Overall I found this novel a slow read – that being said, I still enjoyed it.

Liora is the type of girl that just wants to blend in, sort of be invisible and Lucky is the type of chick that stands out and attracts attention where ever she goes. They are exactly the opposite… even though their actually one person. Yes, that does sound super confusing!

Liora and Lucky went through a great tragedy when they were younger and live with the memories everyday. I can only imagine what it must feel like to lose people so close to you, to have to see it happening and then have to re-live it when Lucky crosses paths with trouble-making demons. At a very young age their two halves were split – human and demon. Now, they hardly get along!

Along comes Kieron… he turns Lucky and Liora’s world upside down. He wants both of them but they don’t necessarily want to share. What a mix up! Take Kieron out of the picture, Lucky is also battling feelings for her long time friend Bones. What a love triangle!

Penelope King did a great job with the relationships of all the characters! This novel has a bit of everything - romance, action, witty chicks, sexy guys and a fab storyline!

This book will grab your attention and not let it go!! This is my first time reading anything by Penelope King, and I was not disappointed. She delivers with a vivid, fast paced adventure into the different worlds of humans and demons.

Liora Greyson is not like most other seventeen-year-old girls, because she shares her body with a demon. She is human during the day struggling to finish her last year in high school, and at night, she is a demon driven by the need of vengeance against the Amazea demons who not only killed her two childhood friends, but also forced her to live two separate lives. Her life will never be the same after a new student, Keiron, shows up at school. Will he be the one to bring her two halves together and finally give her a life worth living?

The author was able to create an interesting cast of characters that continued to develop as the story unfolds. The dual nature of Liora/Lucky and their conflict made for an interesting read. I really enjoyed this book, and I am looking forward to reading the next one.

Wow...a half demon half human cursed so each half is a different personality. Total schizo type thing without the crazy. Very interesting story with great character development. The demon half, Lucky, is trying to find the demons that killed her friends and put the curse on her while the human half, Liora, wants nothing to do with demons and is trying to have a normal life. Liora is unable to participate in anything but school since during the day she is the human and during the night she is the demon, makes for a very lonely existence. Lucky is having problems dealing with the human emotions that are leaking through from Liora so she is also feeling very much alone. That is until Kieron shows up (sigh). Lucky cracks me up, she wants to be wanted but be the only one wanted so she seems to get jealous knowing that Liora is getting attention. They are pretty much the same person except their personalities, which is what makes it funny, and they don't like each other very much. It's so easy to relate to since so many of us don't like certain things about ourselves.

Liora Greyson is a high school senior at Dove Creek High School. She's not like everyone else because she's part human and part demion. She is human during the day and at night she splits into her demion half Lucky. It's Lucky's job to torment humans and collect payments from demons and demions. Lucky's best friend Bones who is part hellhound and incubus ever since the tragedy five years ago. Liora meets Kieron Ambrose and her world and life are not the same. Kieron rescues Lucky from a pair of demons showing her horrors of her past and Liora's. Tatiana is Liora/Lucky's guardian and friend who is blind. Tatiana tells Lucky not pursue the Amazea and that vengeance is not the answer to her problems. Liora/Lucky are both attracted to Kieron in different ways. When Liora finds out that Kieron lied to her she wants nothing to do with him ever again. The same is true for Lucky as well. Can Liora and Lucky forgive Kieron? Will Lucky have the same feelings for Bones? What is Kieron willing to sacrifice? Will Lucky get her revenge? Your answers await you in A Demon Made Me Do It.

Oh My Goodness!!!!

I am so ready to read the next one. This was an awesome story. In the beginning Lucky was a typical crier but also bad to the bone which I could not understand until later in the story. Everything was explained and the pieces starting fit together. Two great good looking males what more can a girl want. Kieron has it made, has his cake and he gets to eat it too! Bones will never give up his claim and you can’t help but like cute innocent Liora. The plot is very unique and the characters are unforgettable. The story is not to short and yet not too long, it’s just right, and the story didn’t drag at any point for me. There is something going on; feeling and memories being shared action taking place a bit of romance that keeps the story very interesting. Looking forward to the next book in the series, I can’t wait to see where it takes me. Thank you Penelope King for letting me review your great story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The concept of Liora/Lucky as the MC was interesting. Even though we see the plot unfold through two distinct points of view, the connection between the alter-ego's is not missed. I found the idea of a split soul fascinating, and I look forward to seeing how Ms. King resolves this conflict. I liked Liora, but I loved Lucky. She was spunky yet Liora still had an effect on her that seemed to be positive. Liora on the other hand didn't seem too interested in letting Lucky influence her.

The overall plot was believable and felt real to the age of the characters. This is the second book I have read by Penelope King, and I loved them both. I'd like to thank Ms. King and Shut Up and Read Group for the opportunity to read and review this entertaining book. I look forward to Fire with Fire.

I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to read the next one and find out if Lucky/Liora get to merge themselves back together. The girls are existing in two different worlds. Neither one likes the other's world. They are both interested in the same guy and don't want to share! The book leaves you wanting to find out the rest of the story. A very good read!

The author does an excellent job in developing the characters. It's interesting to see things through both Liora's and Lucky's eyes. Of course, Kieron is interested in both of them. To complicate matters, Bones wants Lucky/Liora too.

There wasn't anything that I didn't really like about the book. Even the proofreading/editing on the book was great. An excellent read!

I was fortunate to receive this book to review by the Shut Up & Read Group's, Read it & Reap it, and since it's my first ever through this group, I must say I am not disappointed at all!
I will not give any spoilers as to what goes on or even to things that happen (you will need to read this to find out for yourself). I will however say that the two poems (recited in the middle of the book by Kieron) I thought were perfect! (Once you read it you will understand!).
Anyone who is a fan of YA paranormal will truly enjoy this book as much as I did!
Happy Reading!
